A few months ago, I was nothing. A nobody. And then I got myself in over my head.
Managing a band. Falling for its members. It's not something that happens to people like me.
But fate is never what it seems. My heart is aching after its latest ordeal and a hellish anger rages within. I want certain people to pay for the pain they've inflicted.
I'm lucky that I have my men. Four beautiful men who'd do anything for me.
Throughout our time together, I've looked after them. Supported them. Helped them to heal. But now?
Now I need them to be strong for me.
5 Boys and the Beginning is the fifth and final Reverse Harem Romance novel in the 5 Boys series. It is not a standalone. It features dollops of angst, steamy scenes, continuing storylines and MM. #whychoose?
I absolutely adored the finale to this series, and it went in exactly the direction I had hoped. Evie Kady is an incredible author and I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for more of her work in the future. I highly recommend this series to fans of RH and MM romance.
I started the first book of this series kinda “meh” about the story but I gave it a chance and I’m so glad I did. I fell in love with all four boys over the next 4 books, and this fifth book was so great.
Adam is a dick, but I sort of feel bad for all he went through starting at a young age. But everything after was his choice and he made the wrong ones. Tarek came out on the other side and he’s so much better now than he was in the first book.
All of them together... it feels right. It evolved over the course of the series and they all had their issues, separate and together. The story felt more serious than I anticipated and I enjoyed that. It wasn’t just an easy relationship involving 5 people.
I was SO fucking happy to see the relationships between each of the guys evolve into more. I felt giddy reading it and waiting for the sparks to happen.
AND THE END. Fuckkkkk... that is what I was waiting for the entire damn series. It was so steamy and I loved it immensely. I’m so sad it’s over.
The series started as a 3.5⭐️ read but ended in a 4.5⭐️ for me.
It was all leading up to this! This book was everything I hoped for in a finale! We finally got some true insight into all the guys, their feelings, and what makes the group work. I loved seeing Kat develop into an incredible woman who fought for others as well as her own wants/dreams. I'd love to see what happens even further into their lives.
I don't usually read books with mm action, but I found myself intrigued! I will admit that this series will be the only exception to the rule. I like for the female to be the ONLY focus in the harem. Anyway, I would like to see this series branch off to other books. I would also like to see what Kat and her guys will be doing in 5 years!
What a wild ride this has been. The ups and downs Evie Kady has taken me on have been wild. And I have had some harsh words for her books. But this was her redemption. This was her longest, and there was a lot to unpack in this book. It starts right where the last book left off. Tarek gets arrested, Kat makes a decision to finally go home to her dad and spend some time trying to heal her trauma. She does go through the stages of grief through the book, and we get to see her process her anger, depression and finally, her acceptance. The guys do surround her, shower her with love, and this does help her heal and find herself again.
After Kat gets home on the farm, the guys go through their own growth and figure out who they want to be.
Tarek: I really didn't like him at first, but his redemption is so beautiful. He deals with his past abuse and grows to flourish. His arc is so beautiful.
Connon: He is difficult. He can be selfish like a lot of men at times, and he does shut everyone else out. He's the youngest and the most immature. He does eventually catch up with everyone else in the end, but I just don't love him the way I do the others.
Seth: I adore Seth, and his confidence just grew, and he finds himself outside. Music is so beautiful. I love the way he blossoms. I cherished his every moment.
Leon: He just mellowed out, and his self-confidence grew, and I found that to be hot. The way he just embraced who he is, and I think Tarek helped him in that journey. The two of them have such an energy between them and you could feel it on the pages.
I found what the band became in this book and how the band finally stayed true to who they always were. They found themselves, they remembered what they'd lost, and they understood what mattered. They realized that LOVE was what they'd always been missing.
Sadly, Adam is still a big part of this story. I didn't want to like his character. He is arrogant, entitled, and fake. He wears a mask, and honestly, I don't think he truly knows who he is anymore. There is nothing in him that is redeemable. At the same time though, I see what he has been through, I can see what he would be like without his mask and I do see the small step that he takes, to try and nope, I take it back, he just can't be forgiven. He can just be accepted as a jackass. Kat finds with the love and trust of the guys that she is truly a strong and confident woman. She accepts herself for who she is, and she stops trying to be someone she isn't. She even stops wearing dresses.
The final book of the series is finally a hot, hot spicy book, and it builds the MM scenes. It's the last few chapters that are really the spicy group scenes. Even the epilogue gives us a quick look at how everyone is doing down the road. Getting the chance to see all the different POVs is great. I wanted to see more from them all. Maybe even a chapter or two from Stella? (Please don't hate me.)
Overall, this was the redemption I was hoping for. This was the writing that I wanted for the entire series. I know that this was supposed to be a rock-band reverse harem, and in some ways, it is that. But, it is actually more than that in the end. In the end, it shows us the best and the worst parts of life, love, and it shows us the hope that pushes us forward.
Sure, I am sad to see it end, I love where our character's ended up and how they were emotionally. It ended up on a high note. In some ways, I wish that this band really existed. I plan to read more from this author in the future. She is on my favorite list. As I am fond of saying, I am sorry to see it end but so happy that it happened.
There is way too much going on here, and things didn’t get fleshed out. Sometimes it felt like the guys were the age they were supposed to be then other times it felt like they were pre-teens. The guys got jealous of each other and the relationship between ALL the guys felt forced. Leon/Tarek, Seth/Conor that was great. Then you merge them and it felt weird. There is a place where Tarek talks about him and Adam being together. And the abuse he suffered from the management company. That the head guy took advantage of him. But in an earlier book it said he had never done anything with a man before (even though it was hinted at). So that’s an inconsistency. I did love that they all put Kat first. The guys said she was irreplaceable and them as a whole wouldn’t work without her. If I’m honest, I can’t believe I got this far. Sad the premise is great.
I gave the first book a 3 because it was rough. Each book got significantly better. The growth in all of the characters was done so well. The only one that seemed a little fast was Tarek, but he was also the one with the loudest personality, so it’s fitting. I felt like I watched them go from kids to adults over the span of the series. It was truly a great read. Different than any of the other RH I’ve read. The fantasy aspect was a little random, but I’m wondering if the author plans on pursuing a parallel universe type like, like Janes Team. I would be super down with that.
I would also like to commend the author on not sticking to a sexuality. No one has come out as bi or pan or straight. Everything is fluid. It was about the connection rather than the titles, and I think it was extremely well done.
Reading this book was an emotional roller coaster. One moment you're happy about the band, then next you feel sad and kind of pissed off because of Adam. I honestly didn't expect the ending since I really thought that the 5 boys will end up reconciling their friendship, but yeah. I suppose I gave Adam too much credit that he'll change and somehow realize his mistakes before it's too late.
The playlist is on point, and THAT song that they sang about Adam? Damn, it really fits their situation.
This book wrapped up their story well. I really like for the 5 boys to be united again, but I guess, we'll just see in the future what happens to them if you make a book with the same universe as the 5 Boys series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
it’s the best of the series, and by itself it’s actually decent, but cumulatively? the series is still kind of a mess.
although i think the funniest part of this book is when kat and tarek (i think) are talking about what happened to adam and how adam uses sex as a weapon, and kat is utterly shocked by that concept. to the point where she says that “sex is meant to express your love!” which would be fine, but let’s all remember that she had sex for literally no reason with someone she “knew” for like 4 days. so…sure.
but this is the first time we get to see kat do any actual band management, like organizing gigs or anything. so i guess that’s good?
i dunno. this whole series was underwhelming, so i’m kinda just glad to be done with it.
The series was a good read but I still feel that it's 4 boys instead of 5 because Adam never went back to the group. I love how Kat helped the 4 boys to deal with their differences and be true to themselves about how they felt. The ending was good but I would like to get more on Adam. Will he come to his senses and choose value of life instead of fame, money and sadness? Will we get more about Kat and the boys? That would be nice.
Okay I think this was my favourite out of this series, glad to see it bought full circle but I did struggle with the series. Too many relationships for me, or too busy, I am not sure but the writer has done a good job on it, and as much as I love MM, this series rally was not to my personal taste. However, I did not spot any errors or spellings, you can tell the writer worked hard on it. I will see what this writer does next as she has done a good job
These books definitely got better as I continued. I struggled with the lack of character development but this book brought everything together. You really get a chance to know all the characters, the good and the bad of each of them. The book was a slow burn for me and I typically enjoy more heated scenes but it was still a good read.
a pretty good ending to the series. Happy to get closure on all of the plot lines and really happy with the way the Adam story ended. I was worried for a while that it would go in one direction but ultimately, i think his story ended perfectly in line with what he deserved. the growth in the characters overall was really well done. a great ending to a fun series!
What a story! It was so gripping in places and sad in others. I was kinda disappointed that Adam went out of his way to be an entitled jerk, but overall, it was a great story. I'm just sad he was so self-absorbed that he was willing to throw away, probably the best thing to ever happen to him for fame and money.
A great ending for the series. I love that these boys were able to overcome so much and bond together. They are such a great unit and make sure that our girl is the center of their circle. I love the new band and their dynamic and how it’s all come together
Word by word this series drags you into each characters emotions. Gives everyone the perfect dose of steam and connection. Can't wait for the next peice of art from this author. Loved how it hit on sensitive subjects with such respect and understanding.
An excellent finale to this interesting, entertaining and enjoyable series. I loved leading about each characters mystery and living their journey alongside them. Friendship, loyalty, commitment; it would seem the love really does make the world go round...
Wow, this whole story was an unexpected treat. It had an interesting plot and unique characters without being overwhelmingly sexual despite being about a group of people discovering their sexuality. Strange, but good. I liked it! 💋
I'm glad to see them all happy and in love. The addition of the kitten will be interesting and new characters like Stella can be developed. Absolutely no more people can be added to the 5! That's a logistical nightmare. Ha ha!
The whole series was amazing! Hot, well put together, excellent characters and character development, and fantastically wrapped up!! What an amazing, sexy story! Evie Kady you rock! I want more, lots more!!
When I began this series at the beginning of this year I had no idea the journey it would take me on.... And boy did we go on a journey. Evie Kady has done an amazing job writing these characters and their story. This book is the longest yet! There is so much in the last book. It starts off right where it ended with Tarek getting arrested. Kat then makes a decision to go home to her dad and spends time alone trying to heal from her own trauma from Adam. She goes through a lot of the stages of grief throughout the book and we get to see her process her anger, depression and eventually her acceptance. The guys surround her and show her their love which helps her healing.
Once Kat gets back on the farm the gang all go through their own growth of who they are and who they want to become. Tarek has became my favorite... I did not like his character in the first book but he has had such a beautiful redemption arc. He truly grew the most and was able to deal with his past abuse and flourish. He is truly a beautiful character. Conor was the most difficult for me in this book. He is selfish at times and shuts the others out. He is the youngest and definitely acts the most immature. He eventually gets there at the end but I didn't cherish him as much. Seth who was always my favorite becomes more confident and finds out who he is outside of music and even Conor. He truly blossoms and I loved every heart felt moment of Seth. Leon mellows out and becomes secure in himself as well and it's so hot. He embraces himself and I think Tarek was a huge part of that. They have such a huge energy between them and it crackles on the pages. I love what their band becomes and how they stay true to who they are. They are no longer lost and understand what truly matters now... Love.
Adam is a huge part of the story as well. His character is so hard to like at times. He truly is arrogant and entitled. He uses others and is fake. He puts on a mask and I think he lost who he is and what he wants along the way. He still has a lot to do before his redemption arc but....I think he is beginning to see what it could be like without his mask. Small steps are taken...and the gang have moved to acceptance where he is concerned. Kat becomes so strong and confident as well. She truly becomes everything that they saw in her and more. She accepts herself and doesn't try to be something she isn't.... Including no more dresses! Ha.
It is steamy as ever at the end with lots of building mm scenes along the way. The last few chapters are hot and culminates are group as one unit. Epilogue gives us a brief look at how they are doing down the road. I love the alternating Povs. I definitely would love to see more from the group. Even maybe more of Stella.
All in all... This series was beautiful and amazing. Well written. Hot and emotional. I loved it so much and never would of expected the journey at the beginning. This book may look like a rock band harem but it shows us the best and worst parts of life, love and the hope that pushes us forward. I'm sad to see it end but I love where the characters are emotionally. Great series. I just wish this band really existed. I'll just be over here waiting for Tarek and Seth. I look forward to more from this author. 🥰🥰🥰
This is the conclusion of Royal Element 2.0. I loved the journey that they took to get to the point that they were comfortable in their own skin and able to just be who they've always wanted to be, themselves. I do feel bad for Adam but he brought this all on himself and I hope he gets his own story to show his growth into the man he is meant to be and not what circumstances has turned him into. Great ending to FlirtMagik
Stuck with this series and I am glad to report that this 5th and final booking was probably the best of them. Ms Kady did a good job on featuring each member's personalities, fears and ambitions and ironically less on the sex, which was a plus in this case. I like what was done with Adam's storyline, and maybe down the road wouldn't mind seeing him again. When the book concentrated on the band is when it shined with the sex being a plus and not the focus made this book an enjoyable conclusion.
What a rollercoaster of emotions! I love this series so much I am sad to see it come to an end. But what an end. I love these characters and the beautiful relationships that blossomed from 4 angry men and a newbie film director. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes hot guys and even hotter sexy times!
Absolutely Wonderful! This book has everything you need. There were times I was covered in goosebumps and crying from the emotions. In a sense the guys and Kat need to find their way back to each other. Everyone grows so much in this book becoming who they truly want to be. This was truly a great ending to a series.
This series has been amazing. It has conflict, intrigue, comedy, craziness and some hot sex. But I think the main thing it shows is that people can overcome adversity and not just survive but flourish. Each one of the guys have had their battles to fight and so has Kat. But together they have come out on top.
A great ending for the series. I love that these boys were able to overcome so much and bond together. They are such a great unit and make sure that our girl is the center of their circle. I love the new band and their dynamic and how it’s all come together. I was worried that Adam would make a huge comeback but glad where he ended up.
I enjoyed the final part of this confusing but intriguing story. I have live reading about Kat and boys, this series has been story of self discovery and acceptance. All five books offer a colourful piece that comes together in this amazing finale.
