The Dragon Gate #2

The Light Bringer

Rate this book
The power to heal only comes when she believes.

On worlds where elves, dragons, and magic are real, the power of the gods flows through Anna. She can save the dying – and destroy the dead.

But not on Earth, where magic has awoken after a thousand-year sleep. The gods are alive, and yet she cannot find them to answer her.

But others can. People are casting spells and healing the wounded, dealing death and bringing life. No one understands why it’s all happening – or that Anna and her three friends triggered it by mistake. Their ongoing quests to other worlds have unleashed a new world on Earth, one that may destroy all life.

And the only way Anna can save those she loves is to believe in gods who won’t answer. The darkness inside her may hold the key to finding her way as The Light Bringer.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Dragon Gate Series. The second installment did not disappoint. The quartet of unlikely "hero's" continue in their quests leading them to adventures unimaginable.

"The power to heal only comes when she believes." This second of the series concentrates on Anna, who must learn to change her entire way of thinking.

This authors writing style is excellent with the world building and character development. You will most certainly not be disappointed if you love a good fantasy adventure .

It seems that the group of friends don’t get a breather between quests. As feared, when returning to the same spot they vanished, ended with Anna in the hospital. It seems no quest is too crazy as in this book they go on a few quests. Why are they not getting some time to rest between these quests? Is it because the first Elorian champions have been gone so long?

As the story goes along you get more of a view of what happened too two of the original Elorian Champions. Both with different agendas in mind. As for the 4 friends, they cut themselves short of riding on the reputation of the Elorian Champions. In my view they learn so quickly especially when the quests are increasing.

Again, I like the mix of going on to a quest in a land full of elves, dragons, undead and so on and coming back to the non sensical world of Earth where Elves and such are just a myth. Just like Merlin and Morgana, or are they? Now that one of the real Elorian showed up, they have a better idea of what they need to do. It is nice that one of your friends is rich, especially now that Anna is facing charges of what happened on the freeway.

It was so exiting, I read the book almost in one go. Lots of action, adventure, friendship, and real issues they need to face. Even with all this powers, there is no guarantee that they will survive the next quest. I cannot wait to go on my next quest.

The Light Bringer is book 2 in the series and it was a little tough to get through due to all the attention to detail of what was going on. The title leads to the focus on Eriana or in our case, her substitute Anna; however as our author gives a full round of characters the focus is not strictly on one character. Nevertheless it does continue on from book 1, The Dragon’s Gate. It continues the Dungeons and Dragons feel as these four friends are summoned from Earth unwillingly to fulfill a quest destined for the original Ellorian Champions. And these summons happens at inopportune times. Book 1 did leave a bit of a clue that is fully utilized in book 2 for the original Light Bringer, Eriana. Many questions are answered as these characters resolve the mystery for the four friends substituting the originals. As the four friends adjust, we are given updates on those back home. It is a very intriguing story that does leave a surprise at the beginning end.

The Light Bringer is Volume 2 of The Dragon Gate Series by Randy Ellefson. This sequel is fantastic! The contemporary characters are once again brought back to the Kingdom of Minari and on the world of Rovell. In volume 2, Anna, Ryan, Eric, and Matt are being called upon to defeat the evil wizard, Soliandar. Our evil wizard is looking for Everton and is using the Orb of Dominion to control minds. The Light Bringer has so much action, great characters (some from book 1 and some new to the story), magic, Dragons, A dark elf Prince, everything I want in a fantasy. I am looking forward to reading Book 3! I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Very character driven but while focusing around one character does continue to develop and grow the other main players. I like this series as it does add in some interesting concepts among the fantasy adventure.
