About the author

Blanche (she/her) is a French indie author who writes in English. Veterinarian by day, she started writing books in 2018 but had to wait until 2020 to finally decide to selfpublish her very first novel You Owe Me. Her favorite genre is fantasy, but she also writes science-fiction and contemporary, always with a healthy dose of romance, most of the time queer.
Introvert at heart, Blanche is content to live alone with her cat Twist. She is obsessed with guinea pigs, movie soundtracks and musicals. In her free time, she likes to review, beta read and format books for other authors.

I'd like to thank the author for giving me this book in exchange for a review.

I'm really glad I continued this series despite my lower rating for the first book. Maze really stepped up here, and I was glad to see that the writing style was much stronger in the sequel. The pacing was fast, I wasn't confused which genre I was reading and characters were more fleshed out. There was so many twists and turns, almost nothing was predictable and I had a much better time being back in this world.

Ruby's personality really came out in this book, she was fierce and powerful. Her character development was awesome, and I liked learning more about her. Same with Leo, though sometimes he had a stick up his ass. I loved all the new characters and what they brought to the plot and seeing Ruby make more friends was nice.

Only negatives were some parts did drag on a little bit and there was some info dumping which I found slowed the plot down.

Overall, I recommend this book and can't wait for the third book!

A second volume that takes this series to another level. Intriguing new characters emerge. Ruby and Leo's relationship is beautiful. The friendship between Ruby and Hannah is a dream. And above all... above all... UNBERABLE suspense.
