The destruction of nature. It made us feel vulnerable and thankful. It made us realize how much could be lost so quickly. Georgie and I had come together at a time in my life when I’d lost dear friends. People who I’d never be able to laugh or joke with again. Every day, when I woke up, I was grateful I was alive to kiss her, to tease my sons, and to tell my family how much they meant to me.
I bought this box set because I wanted to read the first three books in the series (having already read the 5th and 6th - watch out number 4, I'll be coming for you), but also because I wanted to read the novella at the end of it, The Hurricane.
I've reviewed all the books separately, so you'll find my review under each of them.
All the gang gets back together about 18 years after the events that kickstarted the first book (Ava and Eli's story, which started it all) because their town has been hit by a hurricane, which has destroyed their bar. Of course, everyone had to pitch in to lend a hand, because that's what they do.
While this is going on, we get a glimpse of what their lives have been like over the last few years, of how close they were to never making it at all if not for Ava, and maybe of what the next generation will be... so like their parents, and so unlike them at the same time.

This novella has a lot of heart and a lot of feeling. The good kind, the kind that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
It takes me back to my own friends and to how, even though we may not see each other for a long time, we can always have long, heartfelt conversations, as if no time has gone by. How we can annoy each other every time. How we can always go back to the places and the memories that made us friends in the first place. All the stuff we share. Just like all the people in these books.
Love really is a superpower. Friendship is another one.
Friends really are the family we choose.
And keeping love all around us is really all that matters.

I love coming back to this series; every once in a while I remember a scene from one of them and it leaves a smile on my face.
Now to the novella that has brought all couples and their families together :)
I wish it was for a happier event but then again these couples are far from perfect and the love and friendship that binds them together is so strong that even a disaster can't stand in their way of supporting and being there for each other.
I loved this little addition to the series and hopefully the next generation will continue this series in the future.

“It helped me get my head refocused on how close I was to getting what I wanted and not on a girl with dual-coloured eyes. The Coast Guard was so close to being a reality that I could almost feel the joy of signing the enlistment contract.”
Ava was trying to escape a controlling father when she crashed into the lives of Mac, Truck and Eli. 3 recruits almost through their training with their sights set on enlisting. Eli would do anything to follow his dead father to the Coast Guard.
A few days, barely moments in time changed each one profoundly.
Poetically written like all of the songs woven through the very thread of the story. The images and feelings are all presented in vivid colour.
“I woke with the sun in my face, the muggy air already filling the room from the open French doors like cotton balls stuffed in a jar.”
This story is told in three parts, the first their few summer days barely out of their teens, the second 4 years later, the last is where we hope they get it together and keep it together.
This story is so character driven that you feel like they are friends. It has all the feels! From the poetic quotes to the country songs all add meaning and evoke memories of your own. I found myself singing along and having some of my favourites staying in my head for days.
This is a new author for me, one that I will seek more from. It reads as a stand-alone novel with hea and I think it is the first in a series.

Mac, an intelligent former Navy man destined to go to Capitol Hill. Following his families footsteps in his own way. He met the enigmatic Georgie through his best friend. He is more and more intrigued every time he meets her though their meetings are all to brief.
“...joined in a way that felt like opposite ends of magnets finally clicking together. Parallel forces drawn, as if by physics itself.”
Mac made a decision, he had to run hard and fast. Georgie had a shady past that would not fit with his future.
“It killed me a little, knowing that I may very well look back on this moment someday and be filled with regret for what could have been.
But it wasn’t enough to make me stay.”
Georgie was just as determined to block her real, raw, true feelings as Mac.
“My heart banged at her words. ‘Have you met me? No. I don’t intend to be anyone’s wife. Let alone some politician’s.”
I could fill this review with quotes, perfectly selected beautifully crafted words that steal your heart, LJ Evans is a master craftsmen, a wordsmith. This is a s l o w burn. While it is part of a series Georgie and Mac’s story can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea, it has all the feels and deeply loving characters.

Truck and the elusive Jersey.
Jersey and her little sister Violet had a rough life to say they had been dealt a cruel hand would be a massive understatement. These two young ladies had endured more than anybody should ever have to. Truck had his share of pain in the past and odds stacked against him too at times but his mates were always there with him.
Beautifully torn between those they love and their dominant sense of duty and honour. Tortured souls that would be intertwined if only they could let themselves be loved.
Real flawed characters who feel deeply are the signature of LJ Evans. Truck, Jersey, Violet and Dawson do not disappoint!
This book is part of a series, however it can totally be read as a stand-alone novel with hea.

Dani is not broken by a man who attacked her, she is strong and will kick-ass. So what if she has decided to leave the Capitol behind?
Nash survived when his brothers, his seal team had perished. And now he was supposed to live.
From the very beginning the way these two orbit each other you are never truly sure if they will spin out of control, keep a respectful distance or crash and burn when they collide.
“It was one night, Otter. It doesn’t mean anything.”
Beautiful melodies begin each chapter, some you may know and relate to... Everybody Hurts- REM to Sweet Child of Mine -Guns N Roses to of course Lover-Taylor Swift! This book comes with a playlist.
This book is beautifully crafted with deep characters. It was lovely to see characters from previous books interwoven throughout. With that said it can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. Also, if, like me, you can’t bear to leave Dani and Nash behind there is a bonus epilogue!
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

This box set brings together three stories of friends who found each other just when they needed it and found love when they least expected it.
Book 1, Guarded Dreams: Eli and Ava were an unlikely couple. She was the daughter of a professor who could make or break the future of his Coast Guard career. Even though they did not end up together when they met, Eli and his friends suffered the consequences of their alliance. But Eli and Ava were meant to part ways to realize the dreams they've always had for themselves before they could make a life together forging paths to new dreams.
This book also set up the beginning of a series of books about friends who found their family when then least expected it.
Book 2, Forged by Sacrifice is about Mac and Georgie. When Mac first met Georgie, who was good friends with Ava, he was speechless. She was someone not easily forgotten. There was an instant connection, a magnetic pull between Georgie and Mac. Something that made both of them spill their deepest secrets to each other. There was heartache and hearts entwined.
Book 3, Avenged by Love is about Travis, aka Truck, and Jersey. Travis and Jersey had similar internal dialogue which seemed to prevent them from moving forward with their dreams. Both had the need to shoulder the responsibility of caring for a younger sibling. While their relationship started out from the necessity of medical coverage, they both got over those hurdles, both perceived and actual, and led them to their happily ever after!
The Hurricane, Novella
I loved how this novella brought together this family of friends who have forged a bond unbreakable. Eli and Ava, Mac and Georgie, Truck and Jersey, Mandy and Leena, Brady and Tristan and their families come together to help rebuild the bar where Ava first felt love. They were each other's port in storms, the best cheerleaders, the best ride or die friends.

I loved Eli and Ava’s love story! I loved the characters and felt connected to them and invested in their happiness. The story explored pursuing dreams, grieving the death of a dream, and finding the hope to open up and dream again. It’s an inspiring, heartfelt story about perseverance, love and second chances.
Book 2: Forged by Sacrifice - a slow burn military/political romance (5 Stars)
I loved Mac and Georgie’s love story! They were wonderful characters that I easily connected with and rooted for. The story explored themes of identity, family, pursuing dreams, and fighting for true love. Beautifully written, emotional, sexy, and full of depth with exciting twists and turns.
Book 3: Avenged by Love - a slow burn, friends to lovers, marriage of convenience romance (4 Stars)
I loved Jersey and Truck’s story! As characters, they were both complex, well-developed, likeable, and relatable. These two were perfect for each other. I enjoyed how they brought out the best in each other to grow, conquer obstacles, and overcome issues from the past that held them back. The story was sweet, romantic, emotional, and heart-warming.
The Hurricane - bonus novella
This story takes place several years in the future and brings all three couples and their children together to help Eli and Ava rebuild after a hurricane. A heartwarming story that shows the power of friendship, family, and love.

I was thrilled to be able to come back to the first three Anchor Novels in this GORGEOUS box set. All of these books found their way into my heart when I first read them, and there they have remained. All of the Anchor Novels are full of love and laughter, adversity and resiliency, with all of the beautiful writing and wonderful feels that you expect from a book by Ms. Evans.
Eli, Mac and Truck were their own little family when we first met them. Military men? Yes, please!!! Seeing each of them and their sweet, spunky heroines find their way through adversity to get their HEA will make your heart sing. LJ Evans always does a fantastic job creating her characters, giving each of them such wonderful personalities and so much heart and soul. Eli and Ava, Mac and Georgie, and Truck and Jersey... I couldn’t pick a favorite if I tried!
I LOVE the bonus novella, The Hurricane. Having the opportunity to revisit all of these characters many years in the future was exactly what I needed. These wonderful characters and their children have an incredible, lifetime bond. Friends who became family of the heart.

If you haven't read these books before, you're going to be introduced to some wonderful characters. If you're familiar with the stories, you're going to be gifted with a bonus novella The Hurricane, that makes it worth buying this boxed set.
I've read and loved each book individually before, I fell in love with the characters, their struggles, strength and happy endings. The friendship between the main caracteres is something we all need in our life. There's that saying that we can't choose our family, but we can choose our friends. LJ Evans managed write that beautifully, what started as friendship ended up a big family. This bonus novella takes place many years after the books ended, it's a glance into their life as parents and their continued friendship . The Anchor novels are tackling some real life issues, the every day struggle of young adults. The one thing I love most about Lj's writing is the research that goes into each book, which makes them realistic and complex. They're all different tropes too, so there is diversity also. If you love second chances, slow burn and fake relationship mixed with sizzling chemistry and some hot military main lead this is your perfect choice.

The Anchor novels are tackling some real life issues, the every day struggle of young adults. The one thing I love most about Lj's writing is the research that goes into each book, which makes them realistic and complex. They're all different tropes too, so there is diversity also. If you love second chances, slow burn and fake relationship mixed with sizzling chemistry and some hot military main lead this is your perfect choice.

Eli, Mac & Truck...the swoon, the feels, the hilarious banter all in one amazing box set. This book packs a punch in the best way! The bonus novella, The Hurricane, I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. Getting to visit with Ava, Eli, Georgie, Mac, Jersey & Truck again made my heart soar! *muffled squealing* LJ Evans never fails to deliver a story that weaves together the perfect amount of undeniable heat and connection, the most thoughtfully crafted and all-feeling level of emotion, and an effervescent vibrancy that is tangible through every extraordinary word she writes. I know in each of her stories that there will be highs and lows, laughter, tears, rejoicing, cringing, love and even disgust. Just read this box set...you WON’T be disappointed. I adore this series! I quickly became obsessed with LJ’s writing after I started reading Country Album. So of course I binged these books as soon as I finished Mix Tape. Eli is one of my favorite BBFs ever! So reading a bit more from him and Ava in the bonus novella, The Hurricane,included was wonderful. I also loved the little peak into what the kids will be evolving into as they get older. -Still hoping for the second generation trend to nudge LJ further into writing a full follow up story or two. One can dream, right?

I wish I could give this box set a hundred stars!
The 3 novels included in this set are all about being strong, being resilient, finding your own way, family, friendship and mostly love. They are about finding your family, whether you are related or not. They are about loving yourself and finding your one. I loved them all.
The bonus novella? Hurricane! I think I kind of expected a fluffy little story. I should have known better! LJ Evans has written a story that takes place several years in the future. It brings the 3 families together. It is so rich and so real and so amazing, I read it twice! I can't wait for the children to grow up and find their own person!

I had previously read the books in the box set and absolutely loved them. Each book in this series is fantastic. I love the characters LJ Evan’s has created in this Anchor series. These stories and these characters have provided me with hours of escape into a world that I have to remind myself isn’t real. This set has the bonus novella The Hurricane and I have to say that catching up with these characters years down the road put a smile on my face and made my heart sing. LJ Evan’s has such a way with words…it’s so much more than just a story….it’s heart and soul and HEA’s! The book covers may just be my favorite covers of all the books I’ve read….just beautiful!

Guarded Dreams reveals words that are allied to the character's and begins each chapter with country music lyrics that pertain to that chapter. It is a refreshing experience being able to relate songs to certain situations. It also shows how much heart and soul this author puts into her books by taking the extra time to pick out her playlists that reflect different aspects of her character's dreams.
A romance that is gratifying from the beginning till the end with angst swirling through the pages along with friendships that crystallize into more.
Eli dreams about being a US Coast Guard, Ava dreams about being a Country Music Star, which sets these two to be poles apart, down the road together these two dreams, choices, family, and friendships unify to sway these two together.
Ava & Eli character's are compelling with complex personalities, that draw you into their realm.
With hoops to get through, some not so smooth moments, relinquishing your dreams, and creating a reality that outshines your old dreams.
I'm hoping this novel will be turned into a audiobook narated by Sarah Puckett.

A character driven, inspirational romance that is beautifully arranged with twists swirling through the pages. The writing style is exhilarating and captures your heart and soul. Melded with music, love, passion and laughter.
Character's are compelling with engaging characteristics. Supporting character's bring their own flare & draw you into their tribe.
I absolutely love the political aspect and how it came about as Mac Whittaker transitioning from a military career to a political one. I also loved how Georgie Astrella decided to put her cutting shears away and seek a career in justice and the law.
It appears fate has intervened and brought these two characters back together as true love happens once in a lifetime.
I absolutely adored the text messages between the characters and felt it added a fun way to interact.
Overall, this novel is eloquently scripted and integrated with a topple of sentiments.
Looking forward to reading the next novel in this cutting edge series.

Guarded:
When I saw that this book was longer than most I’ve read lately and that it had a playlist of songs organized to go with it I decided this was a “3 course meal” book experience. I stopped my read each time a song was referenced to listen to the song. This book experience was amazing and unlike any other I’ve ever experienced, and I haven’t even gotten to the content. It too was amazing. Very well thought out. There was no rushing. There was very involved backstories and complete characters.
Surprisingly I didn’t rush through this book. I wanted to, but I also wanted to savor it. I didn’t want to read it when there were other distractions. I wanted to be wholly and completely immersed in the story. This story was the whole enchilada. Thorough and complete. Absolutely wonderful.
Second read through additions:
This is my second read through this series in preparation for Book 5. I am savoring it. It’s even more emotional and hard hitting the second time around. Evans sure knows her way around a heart. ;) Our characters go through so much - both on their own and together. Life‘s storms hit, will they be anchored or set adrift?
Forged:
It’s rare for a sequel to not only be just as good as the first book but maybe even better. The characters had such depth to them. Mountains to overcome and choices to make. These two music infused have been some of the best books I’ve ever read and I’m over the moon learning that there will be four more!

“I felt forever. Forever in one kiss.” Swoon!!
The colored contacts is such a fun part of Georgie’s personality.
These characters and the crazy challenge to even the idea of being together. Ah.
Life is messy and hard and filled with bumps and chasms and bruises. Reality seeps into the dream and you’re left with choices. Stay or go. Love? What happens when running seems to be the way to say “I love you.”

Apparently my first review didn't get saved. :( Well, this was a really great book. I loved the interaction between Travis and Jersey. It's been wonderful following Truck from the beginning of this series. There was so much to build on and everything came to a point in this book. We just met Jersey and her sister but we get to know them really well in this book and it was amazing to see what they came through and everything that happens in this book. I can't wait for more.

Oh my. I adored this snapshot novella. I’ve immersed myself in these characters time and time again. And this novella? Even jumping so far forward in time, you can still see the same unique threads running through each couple’s stories. This was awesome.

It was so great to go back to these three couples and see how far they’ve gotten in The Hurricane. This review is for The Hurricane only.
I loved it! Couldn’t get enough. An extended epilogue if you will of the three books. 18 years later the three couples are brought back together through friendship, support, family and of course love.
I laughed. I cried. LJ as usual had my emotions all over the place.
Go and get this collection. It’s beautiful love stories with real life issues. It will have you empathise with the characters.

I had previously read and reviewed all the books in this series, but the bonus novel, The Hurricane, was a wonderful addition to the set! To see all my favorites come together to help their friends in the aftermath of natural disaster, and to be able to see everyone's children forming their own life-long friendships, was priceless!

what a great series!
This intro set of 3 books (and novella) are wonderful! While each stands alone, I especially enjoyed having them together in the set so I could binge read :-). I look forward to jumping into the rest of them. (There are teasers for each at the end, and don’t miss the author’s thoughtful and touching personal story at the end…)

I have previously read the first three books of this set. The novella was completely new to me though. This is one of my favorite series. It was so great to get the novella for a look ahead reunion to catch up with everyone.
I was really pleased that the Coast Guard was such an important part of these books. It’s a branch of our military that’s often ignored.
Three friends meet in college. All with really different life plans, but bonded nonetheless. Each friend gets his own book with his own HEA.
I absolutely can’t recommend this enough. If you’re into slow burn, which I normally am not, then these are for you. If you love books that are more character driven, and focus more on the story then these are definitely for you. They aren’t fade to black though. Love, Love, Love!
