Harper Harlow #19

Ghostly Endeavor

Rate this book
Harper Harlow is ready to move forward with her business, which just so happens to include taking ownership of the beleaguered Whisper Cove Cemetery. She and her partner Zander Pritchett have big plans … until the day they close on the property and discover a body on one of the well-worn pathways.
Cassie Clifton is recently divorced, a devoted runner, and an individual with a lot of secrets. She was estranged from her parents before her death and apparently desperate to get out of town. Why, though? Harper is determined to figure answers, no matter how hard she has to dig.
Harper’s husband Jared Monroe is on the case but the proximity of death to his new wife has him spinning. It was supposed to be a fun business endeavor, a way for Harper to continue running her cemetery tours without oversight. It’s turned into so much more.
Harper and Jared join together, and when they uncover ties between Cassie and one of their closest friends, they’re thrown for a loop. Have they embedded themselves with a killer?
It’s a race to the finish to find Cassie’s murderer and bolster Harper’s new business in the process. It’s going to take everything they have – every member of their motley crew of friends working together – to cross the finish line safely.
Death is stalking Whisper Cove again. Will they all survive to see another day?

Interesting storyline

Feels like there was a LOT of rambling and not as much discovery as in past stories. I was also wishing there was more to the other storyline about the lighthouse. It was just completely dropped, albeit for a reason, but would've been nice to have a lead in for a future story.

This story was interesting within itself as it touched base on mental abuse and how it effects others in different ways.

Entertaining Paranormal cozy mystery series

They are in the process of relocating a business and buying the local cemetery to combine the two businesses. This all began to take peace that short time back when the wife of the cemetery owner heated up freaking out and murdering someone and now he has to sell. Read on to see what adventure they run into now as they begin their new step in their lives in business. Always entertaining always fun. This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. If I can cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Harper Harlow and her best friend Xander on a business called ghost hunters Inc. Harper has the ability to see and speak to ghosts in a multitude of ways. Xander keeps the books and scheduling going for the business for the most part. They have a couple of assistance at work for them as well. they are in the process of relocating a business and buying the local cemetery to combine the two businesses. Ghostly Endeavor indeed…

Now even though I picked the murderer from the start I still enjoyed the journey to the finale and the reasoning however crazy behind the dastardly deed.
Some people are seriously sick and some are seriously broken by the sicko’s but you know what? One thing that should always be sacred is your kids…
Harper, Jared, Zander, Shawn and Mel have a serious murder to solve and it will literally take all of them to figure this one out.
I love Shawn and Jared’s reaction to the poltergeist that was funny and awesome.

Cemetery chaos

Zander and Harper are about to close on the cemetery purchase and move Ghost Hunters Inc to the new premises. With Luther still floating around finishing up his packing after the completion everyone is on edge.

Harper and Zander decide to do a recce of the site and draw up the improvements they need to make when they stumble across a body.

Cassie Merryweather was one of their peers at school, just another child who kept her head down and tried to avoid conflict because she faced enough at home from her father John. Recently divorced, and desperate to get out of Whisper Cove, now she's never going to make it.

But the leads are limited and its going to need Cassie herself to provide the information to resolve the case and put away her killer.

While I enjoy the story line about ghosts and helping them to the other side, the constant need of Harper and Jared to have sex, Jared's need to "protect" Harper, and Zander's way over-the-top rendition of being "gay" is beyond annoying. Lily Harper Hart/Amanda M. Lee need to add real life to their story lines. Enough of the constant sex and protecting the poor little wife who's so stupid she can't help herself. I would give more stars to these books if the story lines would be expanded instead of being about eating in bed (who does that anyway? unless you're sick), constant bickering between Zander and Jared, constant touching/having sex (except with Zander/Shawn - what's the deal with that?). Make these great stories to read instead of casual blah stories.

Girl Gone Nowhere

Harper and Jared are barely back from their partially derailed honeymoon (guess who showed up) when they finally get the go-ahead to close on the cemetery property they are buying as an addition to their ghost releasing business. But while they are waiting, Harper finds a body lying on the ground.
The body of someone she didn’t know well, but who may never have had a chance. There are too few suspects, then perhaps, too many, through to when the plot slides a home run to an inevitable and heartbreaking conclusion. Ah, this one really got me.

This one made the tears come

I love how Zander is basically being a bridezilla about the colors for his wedding! They haven't even decided on a cake yet but I'm guessing that will be in the next book or two!! The storyline was the sad part for me and for our heroine Harper. This is definitely a scenario that can be seen in real life and the way Harper deals with it was amazing. I can't wait for the next book!

Stunningly poignant!!

I've read all of the books in all of the series and this one...just wow. It hits on so many levels and truthfully, it makes you think about certain things you may have experienced or seen in your own life. It's brutal in its way, and it could trigger some people, but it was done with thoughtfulness and care and love. I won't spoil it at all, but it will make you think, and think hard. It's a wonderful book and story and you won't regret reading it.

Awesome!!

This INE was a sad one that kind of has you scratching your head and saying "what the he'll"?. Cassie always wanted to get away from Whisper Grove, but dieing wasn't the way she envisioned it. How can people treat their kids and spouses so bad. This is a book of fiction but there are people out there that treat others the way John did to everyone in Whisper Cove. Oh, what happened to the ghost at the light house?

Now that's what I'm talking about!!

This was a fantastic ghostly mystery. Finally got back
to how this series was in the beginning. Full of ghostly
going ons. But in parts (with that family) it was very true
to life. Sadly things like that do happen. It was a sad
and intense story line. Hope from now on we'll get lots
if ghostly interactions and heaps of Zander's craziness.
Can't wait for his wedding! It'll be so much fun!!! I hope
there will be lots and lots of ghosts!!!!

Tragic story. It touches on emotional spousal abuse. I'm old enough to know that the story may be fictional, but this is a real thing. It's a sad reality in some families. Even if a child isn't the focus of the abuse, watching a parent being abused can still alter a child's life. That being said, if you love cozy mysteries as much as me, you really should read it. Hey, it's a cozy mystery. You know going in that the ending will make you feel better.

Book 19

Harper and Zander have just signed the contracts for the sale of the old cemetery when they spot a running shoe, with a body attached IN the cemetery! It's the body of a fit young woman that they recognise. She had been running through the cemetery early, very early that morning.

This can't be my favorite, but it may be the most powerful

Most thoughtful Harper Harlow book yet. I suppose it was as close to a happy ending as the subject matter allowed. This is the only book I can remember thinking as I read it "I hope she (the author)read about this somewhere and it's not personal experience. I 'll mention emotional abuse simply as a trigger warning.

This was different

This was different in the sense that it may have ended happy, it didn't end glorious happy. I don't think many of us can fathom doing that to someone we love. That being said it still ended on a happy note, just not the way you expect. Huge thank you to the author for not having Zander whining about everything in this book and more in the background.

I

Have enjoyed this series of books. I didn't get bored and unlike the Maddie and nick stories this lot were more
interesting and thankfully a bit less of the mooning around, staring into each other's eyes etc. I guessed this books killer but even then the story was very good and actually poignant.

Good read

In Book 19 the GHI partners have purchased a cemetery. In fact, the only one in town. They no longer have to lease an office or pay a fee for Halloween cemetery tours. But naturally, a body shows up, a ghost, and another entity. There is still time for some humor and lots of love. Highly entertaining.

Ghostly Endeavor (A Harper Harlow Mystery book 19

This wad another winner. I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves paranormal mysteries. This book showed what a bully can do to a wife and child. Wow. So happy I have not had this problem. I love the characters in these series. All of them have been very intertaining and loving. Diana Romano

This one kept me guessing until near the end when I figured out the killer. Harper and Zander are expanding their business and find a dead body. Funny reaction from Jared and Shawn when they encounter a poltergeist. Mental abuse is a serious situation and need to be aware of signs so can provide assistance.

Whoa!

This went to a very dark place...It may be triggering for some readers.
I highly recommend this intense, but intriguing book and the series associated with it, to readers who love a good mystery. I like that Harper releases spirits to wherever they deserve to go. Enjoy!

Fun series

Another good book in the Harper Harlow series. The interactions between the characters are fun and sometimes intense. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can't wait for the next book!

Intense

This had to be one of the most intensely sad books I've ever read. Then the anger set in. So many emotions at play throughout the story. It drew me in and didn't let go. The work of a truly talented author.

Heartbreaking but fabulous

A strong story that needed to be told. Unfortunately this lifestyle takes place in more homes than we will ever know. It had a strong ending. Thank you.

Another winner

The relationship antics are so much fun between the four main characters. I’m also glad to see Shawn becoming more included as a person who’s speaking out and having more personality. There are some dark issues covered in this book, but it’s handled with care.

Good, but sad

I really liked this book. I had figured out who the killer was, but I love the dynamics of these people. I love the humor in the stories. But the evil in our world is so sad.
