An ascend to twisted and controversial levels, who's to live, who's to die, whom to defend or not, a difficult choice that the protagonists have to make without compromising any. Action guaranteed, on the run

Talk about a confusing plot! This story is really confusing. The main character, Kaden Jaxx, doesn’t even know who or what he is. Oh, the “thinks” he’s a lowly Earth-born archeologist, but apparently that’s not the case. He has been a member of the Secret Space Force (SSP) [ real catchy name, that one ], but can’t remember ever being a part of any kind of military. Apparently he was a super good star fighter jockey that could fly rings around anybody. That is until he defected to the enemy. His wingman (wing-person, wing-woman) was Rivkah Ravenwood, a super good star fighter only second to Kaden. Supposedly, when Jaxx defected, he allowed Rivkah to get caught in her downed star fighter where she almost burned to death. Jaxx must have had some opportunity to rescue her, but he didn’t. She was rescued by SSP personnel although she was seriously burned and left the SSP to live as a disfigured hermit. The only thing that’s keeping her alive is her hatred for Kaden Jaxx.

Alright that’s all in the past. Jaxx and Rivkah have been dragged along with Colonel Slade via a “Global Security Administration” star ship to arrive at Callisto, one of Jupiter’s moons. Admiral Gentry of the SSP found out that Callisto is occupied by a previously unknown alien race. It appears to be a paradise just waiting for the SSP to take it over. Unknown to Admiral Gentry is that the inhabitants of Callisto are none other than the forgotten Atlantans of Earth mythology. They are definitely prepared to defend their world and do not want to be forcefully conquered by Earth. So, when Admiral Gentry orders his star carrier to attack one of the domed cities on Callisto, he gets more than he bargains for. He finally decides to use his ultimate weapon, a nuclear missile, which he fires at the city. The Atlantans know what he’s about to do so they fire a energy pulse that strikes the nuclear missile right after it’s launched. That certainly doesn’t do the star carrier much good.

Meanwhile, Jaxx and Rivkah, who has be medically treated by some very advanced medicine and is now back to her normal beautiful self, are escaping from the star carrier that Colonel Slade commands and heading for Callisto. They seem compelled to go and help the Atlantans. So, that’s where this story sits. Jaxx finds out that he and Captin Fox, another guy who hates Jaxx’s guts, have to make peace with each other as well as Rivkah setting aside her hatred of Jaxx. Jaxx on the other hand, has been told by the Atlantans that he is their key to surviving the currently Kalhoon war and preventing the Earth humans from also destroying everything they have built. Oh, yeah, seems like the SSP has formed an alliance with the Kalhoons who are savage aliens that eat their enemies, either Atlantan or Human! So, Earth, the SSP and actually America are on the wrong side of a war that shouldn’t be going on.

It’s up to Jaxx, Rivkah, Fox and aother SSP Captain named Bogle to fix things some how and restore peace to this part of the galaxy. It doesn’t end with this book so there’s definitely more to come.

This is the second book in a space opera. I never really thought about these types of books, but if it were marketed as such, instead of a series, then it makes the storyline more understandable.

Anyway, this is a book on war. There is a war going on Callipso. There is a war going on in space. There is an invasion in the United States. This is a continuation on the first book. The first book is a lot of back story, this book is all action.

Some of the issues I had with the first book were cleared up in this book. One of the characters was treated as a minor character in the first book, while given a prominent position. This lead me to believe there was a lack of character development. However, he is developed more fully in the second book, and we learn that he isn't just a minor character.

This is what I would consider a space opera. Lots of differing plot lines, abrupt changes between chapters, each chapter told by a different character. Knowing that this is the type of series I am reading, makes all the oddities that I came across more reasonable. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

There are so many surprises in this story. When your true love derives her special powers just by being near you, as well as the blood transfusion you gave to her, is obsessed with killing you, that's a big surprise. Then learning you may be "The One" like in The Matrix, and are expected to sacrifice your life to save an ancient culture, long considered a myth, is kind of another surprise.
I personally dislike book reviews that attempt to summarize a book for two reasons. First, the authors do a much better job of this than any reviewer could. That's what a prospecting reader should look for if that's what they want. Second, these HS style book reviews often give away important details best learned by reading the book.
There is a lot going on here but the author does an excellent job of character and plot development allowing the reader to keep track of the Who, What, When, and where. I'd suggest the author provide a summary of prior events to help any readers who may start this series in the middle. This needs to be read from the beginning to enjoy this fully.

Destination Atlantis is the second book in Brandon Ellis' science fiction series the Ascendant Chronicles.

Destination Atlantis picks up where the previous book (Project Atlantis) left off giving the reader an almost verbatum recap of the ending of Project Atlantis. I found the recap approach not only a nice touch but also a useful reminder for those readers who are unable to read the series in a continuous manner.

Ellis introduces a few new characters into the series but for the most part the focus is placed squarely on the shoulders of the three main characters archeologist Kaden Jaxx,
Captain Rivkah Ravenwood and Captain
Richard Fox.

There is a nice balance of "good guys versus bad guys" air and ground battles positioned throughout the book showcasing the author's mastery in terms of descriptive writing. Ellis' choice of words project clear images of his outer space world to the readers imagination.

Highly recommend.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I Loved this book in many ways, the characters and story flow well from the first book, with less plot twists. I did find the read rather short as I finished the book in around two hours, not to mention the pacing was a lot quicker than the first. The ending was a huge cliffhanger but makes for an interesting third installment. I am looking forward to the third installment in this series and to see where the motley cast ends up. For new readers to the series I recommend reading the first book which explains a lot of the events and how they happened. thank you again Brandon for another great read, it just required some more depth and length than what was included.

I will not be going any further in the series. You turn a character into Michael Anderle, great author but has so diluted his Kutherian Gambit series it has lost much of its appeal. Turn another one into Craig Martel, again from the same series, and saw fit to somehow blame fans for their being upset.
Your story could have been so good if you had kept it original. You had to insult the reader by dropping names. If your work can not stand on its own I would rather see a different premise or plot, or protagonist. Good luck and you might make millions with your series but no more of it will be from me.

Kaden Jaxx is back and the book is a wild ride. Full of action, adventure, and there is the mystery about the moon Callisto to solve. I was hooked after the first chapter as I expected from the first book and loved it. All the "good" and bad guys that survived the first book are back. I liked that I was surprised a few times. Plus a few scenes made me laugh. Just a well written fast paced ride that kept me entertained. I just like this series as it is a little bit different then most space operas.

We shall overcome.

So here we are, hooked on another wonderful series where I want the good guys to totally torch the evil that wants to destroy all the good in the universe. Man I get so wrapped up in story's like this and I burn through these books. This is a great series so far and the characters are very strong and the story line is staying in a good direction and not jumping around to the point where it leaves the reader dazed and confused. Continue the great work Brandon and I will keep reading and giving honest reviews to authors.

Oh WOW! Just when I think I have things figured out with Project Atlantis, Brandon Ellis puts the twist on my ideas with Destination Atlantis. The very idea of possibly having life on Callisto, and this it's people from Atlantis! Jaw dropping! No wonder the City of Atlantis could never be found on Earth - they moved off-world. I loved this story right through to the Epilogue. I am hooked and can't wait to start reading the next book in this series. I have no doubt I'll continue to be enthralled and will enjoy every word.

Definitely worth the read

Definitely worth the read. I love sci-fi fantasy etc. I love it even more when there is a bit of actual history and math thrown in. I like Earth-based Syfy most in this Siri fits all my criteria. Great cast of characters great storyline now I can’t wait for but three. Check it out you won’t be sorry
That was history and myth thrown in it makes it a little more realistic

Book 2 contuinued

I have rated this book a three because I have had a problem following the action. My mind strayed over the action and I did not follow the plot!
I guess that other people would find some of this difficulty. I will try to understand the next book and see if it exposes me to the plot!
I did not follow the teleport of the group into the mess that was awaiting them. And did not understand the reference to the people fighting with them.

The second book is the series turns up the tempo and the number of plot twists and intricacies. Some of the occurrences go a bit overboard, but they seem to stay true to the basic premises that are guiding the series. Kayden, Rivkah, Richard Fox have a destiny and relationship that none of them saw coming. This part of the mysteries of Book 1 is brought to some closure. However, many more are created. The ending is definitely a cliff-hanger.

Jaxx, Rivkah and the rest move from earth to the solar system in this action packed, often funny science fiction tale.
Brandon Ellis tackles some tough topics including climate change, corrupt government and interplanetary war in this multi volume series and he does it with a literary style and charm that sucks you in and keeps you riveted.
If you're an SF fan, I think you'll love this one as much as I did.

Ok, this is just a a “quickie” review. Unfortunately, I’m in a hospital and asked my husband to post this since I don’t have the time to do better - even though the book definitely deserves it.

Bottom line: five stars. This was one wonderfully fun novel and definitely recommended. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot and great cast of characters.

Well written but, not my cup of tea. Nor is it so much of a techno thriller but a soap opera in space with mythical and religious themes intertwined.
Atlantean DNA and human hybrid as savior of both even though the political administration and military appear exceptionally corrupt just didn’t grab me - And don’t get me started on the supposed love story. Basically just too much in one book.

Good read

Definitely a chip packed with good character development. The plot danced around a little too much for my taste, but the book remained cohesive and fun to read. Closed with a cliffhanger....Will definitely read the next volume.

War in space and on Earth. Characters trying to figure out who they are and which side of the war their on. The last quarter of the book got a bit choppy and was harder to follow the story.

This book is full action and plot twists. I really like how all the different storylines come together and make one amazing book.

There are so many characters and they are all thought out very well. Some I love to hate and some I just love.

The only thing that really bothers me is how I still don't know exactly what Jax 's past is. Well I know bits and pieces but understand nothing of it. Maybe it's me but I hope I will get more details when I read book three.

Entertaining but clumsy

I am enjoying these books for the most part. The overall story is entertaining though clearly influenced by Stargate.

But what's really annoying me is the hundreds (LITERALLY HUNDREDS!) of typographical errors across the first 2 books.

This author needs a decent editor. Could be so much better

Destination Atlantis
This book continues to paint the story of Atlantiaens still being in existence on the moon on one of our planets, Jupiiter. The moon's, Callista, inhaitants have been hidden from sight for years, but now have been spotted. It is a race to find forgotten memories and get to the Great Pyramids built on Callista. This book has a lot to recommend it and I think it is a wonderful adventure to go on with the author.
