Sometimes you do something that puts you in a jam. Or in a pickle. Or some other canning-related idiom. You didn’t intend to do it, but there you are—the author of your own misfortune. Ask me how I know.

When Sandy Harbor is rocked by a brutal double homicide, it’s up to Allie and her new husband, Alec, to find the killer. The victims’ daughter is trying to find her footing after their deaths, but Allie has her eye on her. Could she have killed them, or was it someone else?

Summer in Sandy Harbor means it’s time to make jams and jellies—at least for Allie it does, and in her spare time, she’s trying to catch a killer. Her faithful partner in crime-solving, Lucy Gray, is along for the ride, and between the two of them, something is bound to go wrong.

Nice book in my favourite serie

This is the 12th book in A Freshly Baked Cozy Mystery serie and it is a nice book. It is short and easy read. I like the atmosphere in the book. I like Allie who is here making jams, jellies and preserves from summer fruits. Can't wait to read next book of this serie.

Nothing like being freshly back from your honeymoon and having a double homicide land in your lap, right? That was Alec and Allie's situation when a husband and wife were killed locally, and Alec was again hired by the police to help out.

There were some good suspects as always, but I tended to favor one after a while and ended up being right. The showdown was semi-dangerous but Alec got his perp. The whole explanation was so bizarre but killers are that! Great KU borrow!

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery book. The characters were relatable. The story was a page turner with well done misdirection.

The story opens at Allie's son Thad's college graduation. When she, her new husband Alex and daughter Jennifer return home they are met with the news of a double homicide. The victims are Nora and Hank Kincaid. He was the junior high school principal and she volunteered for almost every charitable committee on town. Alec is asked by chief of police Sam Bailey to investigate. Of course Allie and her best friend Lucy have to get involved. They run around town interviewing everyone involved with the couple. Alex makes the surprising arrest and the town is safe once again.

Double Homicide Case . . .

Allie, her new husband Alec, her daughter Jennifer, and best friend Lucy Gray were attending the college graduation of Allie's son Thad. Thad had changed his major and had to work extra hard to be able to graduate with the rest of the class, so this was a proud moment. But when they returned home, they heard about a brutal double homicide with the murder of the Kincaids. When Chief of Police Sam Bailey asks if Alec will investigate, Allie and Lucy jump in to help with interviewing everyone who knew the couple. Can they catch the killer?

The story line moved along well and the characters were likable. Grab your copy and watch Alec, Allie, and Lucy track down the clues to find the culprit who murdered the Kincaids.

This was a really good book. Suzette strikes a nice balance between interacting with the characters and furthering along the murder plot. There were plenty of possible clues and possible suspects that kept me turning the pages and guessing until the very end. Easy to read and entertaining and although it is far from the first in the series, you can jump in and fully enjoy it with no spoilers from other books.

This and the rest of the series is currently available on Kindle Unlimited and is well worth checking out if you enjoy cozy mysteries with smart amateur sleuth heroines. I will read more by the author.

Shortly after arriving home from attending her son’s graduation, Alec receives a phone call informing him that a couple had been found murdered in their home. Alec had been a detective with the local police department and when he retired had become a private investigator. He was asked to investigate the crime to identify the murderer. Of course, Allie and Lucy couldn’t stay out of it and decided to help Alec with the case. Join the trio as they work to solve the crime.

An enjoyable and fun read. The characters are very likable and the story flows well. The author kept my attention and interest throughout the entire book so much I had a hard time putting the book down. Nice plot with great lively, vibrant characters that add a depth to the read.

Allie and her new somewhat retired detective husband Alec have a busy summer ahead

Her son is finally graduating college and will be getting married in August. Wisconsin is not the most hopping place, but where her son is likely to be. Daughter Jennifer is home from college for the summer

A distressing murder case brings out many suspects holding the sorts of grudges that seem more likely in a small town. Small things hold big importance to dome people. Enough to kill for? Maybe - at least enough to steal and attempt blackmail over

Allie and her friends seem to find plenty of info - relevant to the case?

Small to mysteries and mayhem

Great book!!!!

I love this series !!!!
Allie is at her sons' college graduation with her daughter Jennifer and husband Alec and friends Lucy and Ed.
When they got home Alex got a call from the local sheriff Sam Bailey, Alec is a retired detective turned PI, but Sam calls and hires him when there is a homicide and this case it's a double homicide. Whom would kill a Principal of a Junior high school and his wife?
Get this book and find out which a suspects!!!!
You won't be disappointed!!!!

I really enjoyed this book it is a cross between Janet Evonavich and Rosie a point which I would recommend to everyone who reads cozy mysteries. The characters are so relatable that we feel like it could be me and you in this story. I loved it.

Although enjoyable, something is missing from this series. And I think I have finally figured out what it is; it just doesn't have the charm that her other series has. Having said that, it was still an entertaining read.
