Julia Woodville knew the kiss she’d shared with Lord Cyrus Franklin, known rake, couldn’t have meant as much to him as it had to her. And he proved her right by leaving London and marrying another. But now he’s back, and this time, she’s not about to let him anywhere near her heart…

An unexpected kiss on a darkened terrace is not how Miss Julia Woodville thought to commence her time in London, especially with the king of all rakes, Lord Cyrus Franklin, Marquis Chilsten. So it was no surprise to her when rumour had it that Lord Chilsten had married. Cyrus has secrets and shame that he carries daily, but after an impromptu kiss with Miss Julia Woodville, he knows he has to return to London if only to see her once more. A widower, he needs to marry well to save his family's reputation, but Julia temps him at every turn, and remaining friends proves more difficult with every passing day. When scandal threatens Julia, Cyrus cannot stomach seeing her ruined. Marriage is their only option. But will Julia forgive him his sins that he cannot keep hidden forever? Julia is the third Woodville sibling to find love & her story is easily read on its own. Another very well written, lovely romance with wonderful characters. I loved Julia who knew her own mind & she fell for Cyrus at their first meeting but I adored Cyrus, yes he made a mistake but did his best to rectify it so showed how honourable he was. I loved their witty banter & the chemistry between them was electric. I always loved it when a rake falls in love & this story didn’t disappoint & I devoured it in a sitting finishing in the small hours. The icing on the cake was the lovely epilogue My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Julia Woodville has not been presented to the Queen nor had her first season. On the terrace during a ball, she is seduced by a kiss from one of the notorious rakes in London. Cyrus, Marquess of Chilsten finds it beyond his control not to steal a kiss, one like he has never had before. Then he immediately disappears to Scotland and marries someone else. Julia cannot forget his kiss and knows she must forget him. Cyrus returns to London before his period of mourning is over looking for a new wife. One higher up in society, but does not reveal why to Julia. They make a pack to help each other find marriage prospects. Julia keeps telling herself she cannot have Cyrus, but her heart won't say "No." Cyrus realizes he cannot let her marry anyone else. His fear is losing Julia when he reveals his secret. Love this series! You know rakes make the best husbands! Heat level 4 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book gifted by the author.
It’s not behaving like a cad to coerce a powerless person into a sexual relationship. It’s not being a rake to take sexual advantage of a young woman. The themes of this book are treated cavalierly, glossing over the abusive quality of the male protagonist’s behaviour toward both his former maid and his future conquest.
- I expected something different. Looks like the blurb was misrepresentational. - What I thought was going to be an enemies-to-lovers trope, turned out to be a bunch of balls, parties, people trying to meet people and these two failing to keep their hands off of each other. - The plot would have been solid enough to deliver a punch, but it lagged, badly. - The romance was there, but it got thrown in the back somehow.
I love Julia and Cyrus's story, it is full of passion, misunderstandings, angst and hidden secrets, secrets that could break more than one vulnerable heart. I loved their interactions, their talks and their passionate interludes.
Miss Julia Woodville met Lord Cyrus Franklin, Marquess Chilsten the year before her debut at a ball where they had the most scandalous interlude that had they been caught would have resulted in marriage. Before Cyrus could pursue Julia any further he had to leave London immediately for Scotland to get married to another.
A year later during Julia's debut Cyrus returns to London alone and without his wife. Unbeknownst to Julia and the Ton Cyrus's wife was a maid working at his Scottish estate whose death has left him a widowed father of his barely legitimate 1 year old daughter.
Cyrus needs to marry responsibility, a woman with an unimpeachable reputation and status, do a Wayward Woodville will not do no matter that she has a Duke and a Viscount for brother-in-laws. It also doesn't matter that he raced back to London when rumours of her imminent marriage to Lord Ronald Howard, Viscount Payne reaches him in Scotland. He strikes a bargain with her he will be her friend and help her find a good man to marry, but Julia doesn't want just any Lord she wants Cyrus as he is the only man she has ever met to make her heart race. However will the simmering attraction between them allow them both to settle for second best not when love and passion is within their reach.

A fell headfirst into this lush romance that gave my heart one wicked workout. I loved Julia and Cyrus. Their story was a captivating combination of angsty and emotional that quickly pulled me in and had me fully invested. The Feels here are major, and the buried secrets and banked emotions add plenty of drama and twists to a book that I found very hard to put down. I am freely posting a frank review.
As always Tamara Gill books are fantastic to read/listen to. An amazing story. I throughly enjoyed listening to this book via epub and I would recommend this book. Thanks for letting me read this book 👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Such an incendiary courtship! Miss Julia and Cyrus can’t seem to stay away from each other, though they both try for other, more suitable matches. But true love overcomes all - even a rocky beginning to their marriage. Good book!
** I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. **
DNF at 42%. This book made me mad. It’s another in the long line of “men who can’t take no for an answer and think they can order people around just because they’re jealous bitches” only this one is worse. It’s almost into Alpha Male or fated mates territory, he’s so shitty to her. Another man touches her HAIR ffs and suddenly he’s all pissed and telling her she can’t possibly act that way, despite himself acting that way with every woman in town including her earlier. So she’s just not allowed to act that way with anyone but him, and he’s going to be a total ass about it to her.
Speak of the Duke is the third novel in the Wayward Woodvilles series by Tamara Gill and is another fun and passionately romantic tale from beginning to end.
Julia Woodville knew the kiss she shared with Lord Cyrus Franklin couldn’t have meant as much to him as it did her. And he proved her right by leaving London and marrying another not long after. Now he’s back, but this time Julia refuses to let him anywhere near her heart. Leaving Julia was one of Cyrus’s greatest regrets. One kiss from her and suddenly he wanted to throw caution to the wind. Unfortunately he needed to make sacrifices due to an indiscretion in his past. Now a widower, he must re-marry well in order to safeguard his young daughters future. This means stifling any desires he has for Julia, the one woman he could never forget. Even if it means pretending to be her friend and helping her secure a husband. Then one of her suitors leaves her compromised and to protect her, Cyrus offers marriage. Can their undeniable connection survive once his secrets are revealed? Or will they both lose their chance at happily ever after thanks to the lies that have been kept?
Another quick but deftly told romance, Speak of the Duke was utterly addictive reading. One of the reasons I seem to be enjoying this series to much is that each instalment is relatively short and yet author Tamara Gill manages to pack so much passion and romance into the tale. Stolen kisses, lingering touches and moments of sensuality litter the pages and all the couples so far seem to have great chemistry together.
Told in their varying perspectives, Julia and Cyrus might just be my favourite couple of the series so far, even though I did absolutely love Isla and Duke too. The electricity between Julia and Cyrus was off the charts and even though he did marry another, Cyrus never belonged to her in more than name only. Rather his desires ran strictly for Julia and had since they first met. I loved the jealous and protective way he couldn’t stay away from her despite knowing it wasn’t necessarily the right thing to do by her—-he simply couldn’t stay away from her, even while he was meant to be her friend only. While Julia on the other hand has her eyes opened to the intimacies that that can be shared between men and women and from that moment on she longed for Cyrus only. It was actually quite sweet while also being very passionate given the way in which they interacted, bantered and pushed each other.
The push-pull of the romance in Speak of the Duke was highly entertaining to witness. There was this will-they-won’t-they aura that followed the whole story and while readers can be pretty confident that there will be a happy ending at the end, it was still engrossing reading seeing both Julia and Cyrus stumble and kiss their way to that conclusion!
I can’t wait to jump straight into the next novel to see what Tamara Gill has in store for the next Woodville sister set to make her debut into society!
I don't know why this book is titled Speak Of The Duke. Cyrus is not a Duke but a Marquess. But I digress. Julia thinks him a rake but she doesn't know the truth of the situation. An expected kiss on a darkened terrace is not how Miss Julia Woodville thought to commence her time in London, especially with the king of all rakes, Lord Cyrus Franklin, Marquess Chilsten. So it was no surprise to her when rumor had it that Lord Chilsten had married and was officially off the marriage mart, or so society thought. Cyrus has secrets and shame that he carries daily, but after an impromptu kiss with Miss Julia Woodville, he knoaws he has to return to London if only to see her once more. A widower, he needs to marry well to save his family's reputation, but Julia temps him at every turn, and remaining friends proves more difficult with every passing day. When scandal threatens Julia, Cyrus cannot stomach seeing her ruined. Marriage is their only option. But will Julia forgive him his sins that he cannot keep hidden forever, no matter how much he may wish to? Tamara Gill has written another good book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
WONDERFUL!!!! Speak of the Duke by Tamara Gill is book 3 in The Wayward Woodvilles series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. What can I say about this book other than it was wonderful?! I found this book to be original, easy to read, vivid in the the descriptions and it gave the real feel of the regency era. Just another great read by Tamara Gill. Tamara has a true gift for storytelling and is one of the best authors of today. She never disappoints and she really did out do herself with Speak Of The Duke. This story has a gentry lady who know what she wants, a rouge of a Marquess, a kiss a year ago at a ball that was unforgettable, becoming friends, helping her to find a husband, needing to marry with a title, comparing all others to him, flirtation, being left at a ruin for a forced marriage, protection, a secret from a year ago, confusion, acceptance and falling in love. I am highly recommending you read this book or any of Tamara Gill’s books… they are a true delight!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Julia shared a soul melting kiss with Cyrus a Marquess who promptly raced back to Scotland and married another!? Theirs was more than a kiss so much heat and steam involving other body parts! Cyrus has a secret to his sudden wedding and the death of his wife. Cyrus is a Marquis and a Scottish Duke! Cyrus father had illegitimate children scattered all over (no mention of him trying find them to make amends) his mother also took lovers! Cyrus vowed to be a better man but he took his pleasure where he could! His past caught up with him and he and Julia can barely keep his hands off of each other! When Cyrus realizes that Julia has some serious suitors and one who is about to make an offer he makes a desperate move! Never mind that he had been courting a Duchess that Cyrus believes will help protect his secret if the truth comes to light! Will these 2 have a HEA when the secret comes out! Is Cyrus reformed in truth!? Can he be faithful to Julia? Read on.....you will love this rollercoaster!
Here we have a Woodville sister, Julia (#3), who is soon to begin her season. Her two older sisters are now married to a Duke and a Viscount, and this untitled sister is mixing in the ton because of them. She has an “epic” first kiss with Lord Cyrus Franklin, who then disappears. At the start of her season, Lord Franklin re-appears, but he has returned from Scotland and is now a widower! More secrets are not known. Julia knows she has feelings for this man, at least for that kiss and what subsequent meetings with him do to her. He believes his secrets will prove he cannot fall for Julia. So the reader sees all this from the outside and somehow, we know that this will all work out in the end, but how? This story is all about that “how”. It has ups and downs, twists and turns and in the end, there just has to be a HEA. As a reader, I could not put down this book! I recommend not letting this book pass you by!
I do so love a regency tale. And this one will leave you with all the feels. I loved the back and forth banter and sexual tension between Julia and Cyrus, their attraction was instant from the moment they met, just life kept getting in their way. But when you have a determined young lady who knows what she wants, then look out for here she comes. Julia is no shy debutant, she knows what she wants and strives to achieve it, if only Cyrus would tow the line. Just when she feels she has found the one she could give her heart too, if indeed she must marry, he up and dashes off to Scotland and gets married. A year later Cyrus is back and the sexual tension between them still exists. But he has walls up.
Will she break them down or will she get her heart broken again, only time will tell. Definitely a must read.

Another of the Woodville series and I think I am starting to enjoy them so I'm glad I stuck with them.
I found Julia's character to have more depth than the previous sisters and I really enjoyed the story.
My reason for low stars is just at how quickly things turn around and end! The bombshell he dropped was received with open arms! They hardly fought over the issue and Julia, although a kind and understanding character, was made to look like a door mat.
I wanted to have more push back from her. I wanted to hear what her family thought of the scandal and also what the ton thought once the knowledge was made public.
Instead she rolled over, forgave all and they lived happily ever after. The time skip was also frustrating. Why skip so much? Overall I enjoyed it until the last few chapters.
Let's see what the next book has in store.

This was a wonderful book, but very steamy. A known rake kisses a beautiful lady that has touched his heart, who is not even out yet. She had practically dared him to do it. Then he gets on his horse and rides for Scotland, and his ancestral estate. She learns a month later he has married. It is now her debut ball, and a year has passed. She is sure she has no lingering feelings for Cyrus. Then across the room she hears him laugh. She turns her head, and their eyes meet, and this funny,, and sexy, and wonderful story begins. I loved the story, but it did not need the cuss words, or pretty graphic sexual encounters to sell this story. The story, and drama, forgiveness, and renewal were enough to make one fall in love with the book. The great and touching ending, and the epilogue were great as well. I gave it a five.
Purely a lust driven story which isn’t bad if that’s your thing. The writing was simplistic and there really wasn’t any nuance to Julia or Cyrus which again, is fine if you like easy reads with no angst - I didn’t really consider the H’s scandal to be completely irredeemable and horrible. Rather what he did was kinda not unheard of but I get it, to polite society it was shameful. There were things that bothered me such as the fact that the h was somehow just galavanting around with a real chaperone, she was smoking cheroots which I don’t believe came into existence until about the 1830’s but I could be wrong. I think this author writes just for the sex scenes and again, nothing wrong with that but if you want depth this isn’t where you’re going to find it.
Julia knew Cyrus was a rake and some discreet kissing would have fine, but he openly tells her that her breeding is not high enough for him to marry her while repeatedly going to third base with her. He tells her he is going to help her find a suitor, but keeps sneaking about with her to kiss and touch her all over. That is not someone who is her friend, who cares about what is best for her. It is only until she gets herself caught in a situation that is not of her making that he considers a life with her. Cyrus has a secret, which is the reason why he wanted to marry well, but it seemed like he was willing to play with Julia's emotions and sacrifice their happiness for it.
What a delightful love story? Julia is a sweet country missed swept into balls and nobility when her sisters marry well and her brother-in-law is a Duke. When she meets Cyrus, Marquess of Chilsten, a well renowned rake, just one kiss from this gorgeous, wicked , man, and she can look at no other. When he disappears to his home in Scotland for a year she tries to forget about him and court another. Upon returning, he promises to help in her endeavor as he himself seeks to find a titled lady to help his reputation. Too bad that they just can’t keep their hands off of each other! A most enjoyable read!
Let's hear it for the rakes! Rarely do you hear of the rake and the harlot, it's always the virgin. *sigh* All at once the dew is shaken from the rose. Julia makes her first season and even before the first introduction she has encountered a rake who wishes to teach her. Lord Cyrus has a terrible reputation and has set his sights on Julia. Then he immediately vanishes, marries and left Julia breathless. First season in swing, having made her bow. Julia discovers Duke Cyrus is back after the death of his wife. He is on the marriage market too soon! Julia can't decide if she should be happy or scandalized.
I absolutely loved the story. Julia wants to find love like both her sisters. Cyrus has just know returned to society and no one knows his secret. He needs to marry a high born lady to help when his scandal is revealed. But he never forgot Julia and their one kiss last season. As they get to know each other she falls in love with Cyrus but he knows he must look elsewhere. But when someone not only puts Julia’s life in danger so he could compromise her and she’s forced to marry him, Cyrus knows he must intervene. A wonderful story with a secret revealed and a beautiful ending.
I thought this story was quite fun. It has some more somber moments but on the whole it was great seeing a rake being a rake but with some secrets. The tension coming off the pages was so palpable I could not stop reading. One thing I did not like was what Cyrus did and had to marry a person but I understand that we are all fallible and he did try to make it right. Boy was Julia forgiving and the epilogue was so fantastic. Great story.
I enjoyed this book very much. The Duke had been a rake and at a ball had met and romanced Julia. They became friends and he promised her that he would help her find a husband and advise her of anything that the potential husband had done or was currently doing wrong. But Cyrus and Julia developed romantic feelings for each other. The story then tells of how their lives developed. A lovely book and a well told story.
This is an amazingly crafted third book in this amazing series. All the characters in this steamy story are brilliantly portrayed, with the hero and heroine having a bumpy journey to happiness. This is a captivating story that will keep you entertained all the way through.
the blurb was misrepresentational. It should have been different. The hero sound more honestly in the blurb than he really was. I did not like how the hero kept lying to heroine even when they were betrothed and when they got married. The heroine forgave him to easily for my taste. The hero did not grovel at all. But their chemistry and banter were good

I appreciated the fact that the heroine did as she pleased. Went toe to toe with hero. My biggest annoyance with the book is that he held from her the fact that he had a child until after they were married. That was pretty significant and made him no better than Lord Perry who also tried to manipulate the heroine into marriage.
