When the body of a serial entrepreneur is discovered at the foot of a lift shaft in Newcastle’s infamous Byker Wall estate, a troubled DC Ryan Jarrod, in line for a promotion he doesn’t want in a job he no longer loves, is called in to investigate. What should be Jarrod’s easiest case becomes his most difficult as two worlds a world of the rich and self-righteous, where greed feeds corruption; and a world of the poor and destitute, where poverty nurtures desperation. Ryan’s obsession with the case leads him to fall foul of his friends and colleagues, leaving him alone to unravel the threads of both worlds – and the discovery that, when dark secrets lurk in the shadows of the human soul, no-one is quite as they seem. Think of Ann Cleeves or LJ Ross with a gritty, urban twist - that's the DC Ryan Jarrod explosive crime fiction in the mould of traditional dark thrillers. What people are saying about the Ryan Jarrod 'Narrative so rich you can smell the Tyne’ ‘The pace of James Patterson' 'A Geordie Rebus’ 'A real page-turner' ''This has the makings to be my favourite detective series, by far' 'Excellent twists and turns. More Ryan Jarrod, please.'
I enjoy this author and have read the stand alone books but really love this series. I thought it was because I belong to the area , but even if I came from, Essex or Belfast I still think I would enjoy them . Reading this recent one clinched it. A great series, believable characters and gripping story line. When's the next one out????
Another great story featuring Ryan Jarrod and the rest of the team. Well written and crafted and very authentic and perhaps based on a true event/character. Looking forward to reading more.
