In Kari Lemor’s newest LOVE ON THE LINE addition, DEATH RACE, the tag line is THE ROAD TO HAPPINESS IS PAVED WITH DANGER.
Boy, oh boy, is that true for Hero Keith Cho and heroine, Samantha ( Sammi) Bates.
I love a best friend’s sister trope and this is a goodie because it’s also an opposites attract with danger and angst included! Lemor knows how to write strong female characters that deliver all the emotion, fortitude, and smarts you want in a heroine, and Sammi is no exception.
Peppered with lots of intrigue – just who is following them? And a slow burn romance that made me swoon – both fight the attraction - this is another winner in the LOVE ON THE LINE series.
You need to read this one!!! Brava. 5 stars from me.

This book was such a blast. Well, not literally. There was no explosive action. Unless you count the hot romance between this couple. Yet, it was certainly an exciting and engrossing read that had my eyes glued to every word.
As with every book in this series, Ms. Lemor managed to capture my undivided attention with a well-developed plot, which was filled with a good dose of suspense and strong, delightful characters that I couldn't wait to learn more about the moment they were introduced.
Samantha and Keith have quite the history. He was her brother's partner on the police force until her brother was killed in the line of duty, which has made Keith feel obligated to look out for her. Although, from the moment these two come face-to-face for the first time in this story, it doesn't feel like obligation. That there's maybe more to him wanting to look out for her. But then again, it seems as though Samantha is a magnet for trouble with what's been going on in her life lately, so she could do with a bodyguard. Has Keith come to the rescue at the right time and offered her the perfect opportunity to get away from her dismal life?
With the main characters, I really liked Samantha. She is very determined to become more independent. No more relying on those that seem to be using her. Getting away from her life as she knows it is good for her, even though it also brings danger into her life. Luckily, Keith is determined to protect her. Be the hero she clearly doesn't need but deserves after losing those she loves in a short space of time. While Keith, he's definitely one of my most loved heroes in this series. He's kind, strong, brave and definitely cares for Samantha beyond any promise he made to her brother to watch over her. He's also very dedicated to his job. Serving and protecting is deeply ingrained in him, even though he's so gutted by the lose of his partner and holds such guilt over the lose. Still, he's determined to keep Samantha safe through everything they endure when it becomes clear that someone is out to get them.
Overall, Ms. Lemor has penned a wonderful read in this fifth book of her Love on the Line series, which not only had great main characters but also secondary ones (characters that have been in previous books and are revisiting to let readers know they're not going anywhere just because their stories have been told). Furthermore, this story has me looking forward to the next book of this series because of the chemistry between two of the secondary characters. Boy, there's going to be loads of fun had between those two and I can't wait.

I could not put this book down. This book picks up almost immediately after the events at the end of the previous book in the series (Hidden Betrayal).
While the twist had to be somewhat expected given the title of the story, the identify of the culprit kept me guessing for until it was actually revealed.
It was a good read, with an evolution from Samantha feeling that Keith only checks in with her out of obligation to her brother to Samantha and Keith reaching their HEA.
The glimpses of the rest of the heroes in the series, as well as their own spouses, makes me feel that this story is a stand-alone but is far better read as part of the series. From the glimpses I saw in this story, I can't wait to see how hard Nick falls in the next book.

Death Race by Kari Lemor is the fifth romantic suspense novel in her “Love on the Line” series. Lemor jumps right in with Keith Cho and Samantha Bates “running” into each other and deciding to venture out across country together. They share the common bond of the deceased brother of Sammi who was also Keith’s partner in the Boston police department. Keith is recovering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder and Sammi is running away from an abusive boyfriend and step father who has control of her finances. Along the way they fight any inclinations that they could be any more than just friends; Sammi can’t bear to lose another loved one and Keith’s profession will always put him in direct danger. As strong feelings are developing but being denied, they keep encountering strange incidents and realize they are being followed, but by who and why?
Kari Lemor does it again by giving the reader a heroine who can hold her own, but who the reader roots for to find a love that completes her and gives her what she is missing…a family. And as usual we are gifted with more of the characters, we have grown to love from the previous four novels. Bring on the sixth novel – I can’t wait!!

I'm so glad this book is finally out! The penultimate book in the Love on the Line series is a thrilling, sexy, sweet romantic suspense consistent with the rest of the books. This time, however, the spotlight is on Keith and Sammi. Keith and Sammi's brother, Paul, were partners in the Boston PD and close friends. After Paul was killed, Keith felt it was his duty to watch out for Sammi and make sure she was okay. Didn't turn out so well, as we find out in the first chapter. Keith, as he is setting out on a road trip to California to get himself together and heal, runs into Sammi, who is escaping her own set of troubles. They decide to hit the road together, and that's where this story begins.
Between the roller coaster of some very scary encounters and the mystery of who is behind it all, you have a warm, funny, delightful story as Keith and Sammi's relationship gradually changes. In a refreshingly authentic and human way, they go from something that was friendly yet stunted by the past to a real and lasting connection that no outside force can break apart.
Another exciting read from this author. An excellent book to take along on a trip of your own. A road trip perhaps...

Absolutely brilliant book that was riveting from the beginning due to the sexy, delicious ex-military hero and the sassy heroine that gets under his skin.
This story took me on a roller coaster of suspense, emotion and had me on the edge of my seat at times, as Nick is determined to get to the bottom of just who is Breanna’s admirer and whether they’re a danger to her life. Will Nick be able to keep Breanna safe?
Overall, Ms. Lemor has delivered a fantastic story in this last book of her Love on the Line series, which warmed my heart with the ending. Breanna is so good for Nick. Really, I love how she awakened something in the hero that seemed impossible, even though it was obvious he had strong feelings for her from the start.

I've been intrigued with Nick White since we first met his character in Wild Card Undercover. Nick had a hard time of it overseas during his deployment, went through something his Army buddies only learned about after the fact and has been haunted by it ever since. In the early books, we got glimpses of a man with clear PTSD and a desire to die. Now, a few years later, he's healed to a point, but he seems stuck. Enter Brenna, his favorite redheaded waitress.
Nick and Brenna's relationship is teasing and crackles with flirtatious energy, and the way he's fiercely determined to protect her melts the heart. I'm so sad this series has come to an end, but what an ending! Don't miss it!

Book 5 in the Love on the Line series.
Another great addition to the Love on the Line series.
This book is more of a “next in the series” selection, as opposed to a “stand alone” story. That being said, it was a thrill a minute and I’m glad I didn’t skip over this story.
Keith is recovering from an injury, taking some well-deserved leave from being a superhero cop and posing a memorable road trip to see his family.
When a quick check-in turns into an added trip companion, Keith doesn’t blink an eye.
While Samantha isn’t exactly unhappy to join Keith on his journey, both of them are unprepared for the unexpected trials they start to face.
But they face them together, and neither of them could ever guess where their troubles will lead them.
It’s a race to the finish line and Death isn’t the trophy they want.

Great book but little confused when car was mentioned instead of truck. Proof readers missed that.

This might have been my favorite, I wasn’t too sure who the stalker was but thought maybe it was the guy from Nicks platoon. As evil as he was I am surprised he got out for good behavior but I guess that is what makes the bad guy a bad guy.

I listened this on 1.8/2 speed and the narration still was like sludging through mud. It was so boring and slow!
*Too body focus and on ambitious status..this was so constant I started to roll my eyes.
* The H’s issue was mended so fast after him suffering for 4 years 🙄
*The stalker plot was meh and coincidentally was connected to the H too.. the resolution was quick and lame.
