Having her shuttle blasted out of the sky by a Setarip cruiser wasn’t in Natasha Orlov’s plans. Neither was being stranded with a muscle-bound jerk. Or saving his life. But space happens.
Audrey Sharpe grew up believing in the Force and dreaming of becoming captain of the Enterprise. She’s still working out the logistics of moving objects with her mind, but writing science fiction provides a pretty good alternative. When she’s not off exploring the galaxy with Aurora and her crew, she lives in the Sonoran Desert, where she has an excellent view of the stars. Nice little background package for characters you met in other works. It wouldn't hurt to read this before either the Starhawke or Rogue series, but you can only access it through the end notes of volume one of Rogue.
Nice to see a little bit about Nat and Isin before and during the accident. Although, nothing was really revealed that we didn't already learn in the main trilogy anyways which is a tad disappointing. Oh well.
This is a prequel to the Starhawke Rogue series, which explains how Natasha Orlov crash lands her shuttle Gypsy on Troi, and saves Isin's life by hiding him and leaving him behind as she is captured by the Setarips. What keeps her going is the dream of returning to Troi to salvage the ship they discovered buried in the sand. The first book in the series, Arch Allies, carries on the story after her escape from the Setarips. I loved this story and look forward to reading the whole series, as well as other books by this author.
Patience, Nat can do patience - but that's not the way the story starts.
Bad things happen, very bad things! Nothing like an ugly, reptilian creature to bring reality to the forefront. And then the collar. You thought a Taser was bad. It has nothing on the Setarips favorite toy.
Read along to get a lightning quick introduction to Nat and her favorite ship - Gypsy.
I’m just starting my adventures in the Starhawke milieu. The writing and characters look interesting. I’m onto the first of the Starhawke Rogue series now.
