Rate this book
Three Witches and a Metaphysical Detective…

Riga just wants to mentor three young witches and go home. Doyle witch Jayce wouldn’t take help if it landed on her. But when a man is murdered in front of their eyes, these two must learn to work together. Because a dead man is the least of their worries…

Jayce Bonheim loves magic and Doyle, California. But she and her small town have been paying a deadly price for the fairy gate she and her sisters can’t close. Now, a society of dark magicians has returned to town, a deadly winged monster has come through the gate, and an old friend has been murdered. And the new mentor who’s supposed to help Jayce and her sisters seems to have an agenda of her own…

It was supposed to be a simple training gig for Riga Hayworth, not a murder investigation. Still reeling from a tragic mistake in her past, she’s determined to stay retired. But the murder and the town’s magic seem tied together. Can Riga resist the lure of an investigation?

A thrilling and funny paranormal mystery, packed with magic, mystery, and murder. Unbound is perfect for fans of Mercy Thompson, Supernatural, and Charlaine Harris. Buy Unbound and start reading this page-turning witch mystery today.

Well done and intriguing

It’s taken time to decide how to review this book. I enjoyed it. I’ve read both the Riga Hayworth series and the Doyle Witch series. Riga and Brigitte are favorites. I like the Doyle witches but Jayce, although a major character in this book is not my favorite Bonheim sister. This story is told from the viewpoint of Riga and Jayce in alternating chapters. All the other characters, while important to the story, are more peripheral. Well, except for Brigitte, of course. I enjoyed how everyone came together to resolve the mystery of Doyle and solve a couple of murders too. I’m looking forward to the new series with the Doyle witches and maybe more for Riga. I’ve missed her. It’s a complicated story. Thanks to Kirsten Weiss for accomplishing it.

This is a crossover between two of the author's witch mystery series. I liked them individually and so this is double the fun.

While this is listed as book 10 in a series, it does fine as a standalone. There are so backstory details that you will be missing, but nothing essential to the plot.

The story is well written, easy to read and just plain fun. It features a well developed setting and an intriguing cast of characters from two different series. They combine action, humor and more than a bit of snark into this entertaining story. The mystery is also good and features plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. Overall, it is another wonderful story and I look forward to exploring more from this author.

Highly recommended.

Yay! Finally, not only is that stupid evil book gone, but so is the evil that lurked in Doyle for so many years. It was stressing me out just reading it. Talk about intense. Great ending to a 10 book series on the Doyle triplets.

This can be read without reading the previous 9 books, but isn’t it more fun to read from the beginning of the series so you get to go along on the entire journey with the characters?

There are also a few series on individual characters involved with Doyle, such as Susan at the UFO B&B, Hermia the alchemist, and Rocky a white witch (a character first introduced in this particular book). I’ll get to those eventually, but for now I’m going to read Sister Spy by Kathi Daley.

sister witches face the consequences of the Fairy Gate on the essential nature of Doyle.

Riga shows up at the request of an elder witch to help the triplets, and discovers answers to some of her own challenges in teaching

Can the triplets embrace the right elements to make their hometown safe- and can they survive it? As Riga has so often said, with magic, there is always a price to be paid

sisterhood and shared burdens in the face of supernatural challenges

I've been looking forward to this crossover and it actually crosses over, minimally, with the Wits End series! The Bonheim sisters definitely need help and Riga has been at loose ends since she retired so it's great to see them together.

An old friend turns up in Ground to say hi to Jayce, but ends up dead right as Riga shows up. Can the women work together to improve their magic while solving yet another murder?

All they wanted was to help the three witches but they may be pulled into helping with a murder which they did not want. How will they get on? What is going on? Will it get solved? See just what will happen

Loved it!

Kirsten! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Bonheim sisters, but this cross over with Riga is my favorite! Thank you! I'm now going back to the Riga Hayworth series and will be waiting Impatiently for The Mystery School series.
