I was searching for a novel that I can read in a short period of time and found ‘The Right Way to Offer a Sacrifice to the River God’ from a mutual’s tweet. Consisting of only 5 chapters, it was indeed what I was looking for. The plot was lighthearted and great. It reminded me of Asian old stories and legends. But what really sold was the characters’ settings!
The river god was such a crybaby; it was hilarious. The MC, Liu Qi, was a tsundere, and he was so cute! A power bottom trope that’s not excessive—I love it! Their every interaction made me laugh silly. From start to end, there were no boring moments. If I do have anything to complain about, it would be that it’s too short! The novel has great potential, and it would have been better if the author shared more details.
To be honest, story-wise, I would rate the novel four stars, but I decided to change it to five stars because it is a novel that I wouldn’t mind rereading over and over again. The novel is so sweet and funny; it’s the best short comfort read.
Additionally, the novel was written in easily understandable Chinese, making it perfect for beginners. I recommend reading the raw for those who want to practice their Chinese reading comprehension.

Kinda addict with the comedy input by this author (since i've read her other book and i approve her humor is kinda my taste). Its literally funny, and also cute. The absolute point to make it better is the puppy gong (which actually the dragon one) and tsundere shou. Gong is so foodie and liking his "wife" dish. His male-wife is always grumpy, but he can be melted by his gong cuteness (and dumbest). That dynamic kinda my weak point. I will not complain with the writing style since its always easy-reading level and very light. Also this is short, such a snack..but "good snack". You will smile and laugh with this book. I really enjoy it so i give the 5 star for this snack.

I wasn’t really expecting much since it’s so short, but it was very funny and cute.
It’s a quick read for when you don’t have much time / aren’t in the right mindset to read something longer.

A short and cute love story that starts from enemies to lovers.
This was a short and fluffy read that I thoroughly enjoyed in one sitting. Since it’s a short read it glossy over a lot of details and development between our two main characters. The writing style is easy to read and flows almost like a movie script between the different chapters. There is no clear indication of how much time has passed however there are many references that indicate quite a bit of time has gone by.
Our story revolves around two main characters who are our focus and the main couple. There are no other relevant or important characters although we do have a few for the sole purpose of the plot’s movement. The River God is an adorable character with an almost child-like personality coupled with being a big foodie. He loves the food Liu Qi makes and devours it instantly. Liu Qi is quite the opposite. He’s mature and fierce yet a tsundere inside. They make a really cute couple that’s both compatible and funny.
There isn’t much plot or story to this webnovel. It’s essentially a look inside the lives of the River God and Liu Qi which is and stays pretty peaceful. There are no major events or obstacles. Everything goes pretty smoothly and there’s a happily ever after ending.
Overall, I enjoyed this short webnovel. It’s cute, fluffy and sweet. The story is very comedic and the scenes almost read like a TV show. I enjoyed how the story focused on the life of our two main characters without any unnecessary events. However I wish it was longer and expanded more on how each of the character’s feelings grew for each other. I recommend this webnovel if you’re looking for a quick and easy read without any major plot devices as well as if you’re looking to expand into the Shounen Ai (Boy’s Love) genre!

Авторка чи автор вміє прописувати придурків, за взаємодією яких цікаво спостерігати. Придумувати ситуації для них, їх характери також. Нереально крута історія в тому плані, що жертва річковому богу виявився ще й тим засранцем, але годує гарно, тому річновий бог слухняно ходить за своєю дружиною та не вознікає. Ну не чудо ж!
Оповідка маленька, читається швидко, але задоволення від неї багато

Es una historia muy cortita, aún así la dinámica de los dos personajes es muy divertida. Realmente no hay trama pero si hay algo de celos (nada de drama, no hay tiempo para eso) y fluff. No le doy 4 estrellas porque se lee muy rápido y me hubiera gustado ver algo más de la pareja aunque destaco que el final es muy bonito, deja un sentimiento de comodidad rozando en lo doméstico, así que si se lleva sus 3.5 estrellas.

It was cute but too short to actually get invested in the story. Also, because it was so short, I felt like the relationship between Liu Qi and Bai Chuan was a little rushed. Even so, I do like dragon characters, so that scratched the itch.

Realmente la historia es muy linda y divertida, es corta pero no muy concisa, por ende deja varias cosas a la imaginación del lector, que aunque no está mal tampoco es lo que busco en este tipo de novelas, a pesar de eso, el amor de estos es re lindo y vale la pena leerlo.
