Justin was content with his life, burying his head in the sand for all that life threw at him. Unfortunately, his beloved dog Tinky passed away unexpectedly, causing his world to come crashing down. Losing Tinky resurfaced everything he’d tried to bury, and now Justin was grieving on his own. His toys offered no solace for him. Even surviving as a little in secret was not working anymore although he had no other option since he lived in a small-minded community and befriended no one by choice to avoid getting caught. The unimaginable hurt due to his loss of Tinky, in conjunction with working as an artist and trying to pay bills were getting on top of him. The notion of ‘adulting’ was not going to be his first choice. Dan was convinced that he was living the dream with the bonus of living in a small town. His only concern was that no one would want to get involved with him, considering his lack of experience as a Daddy Dom. It troubled him that he might never find his submissive little to pamper and love. Good fortune smiled on him when one day, he received a call that would change his life in ways he’d never expected. Upon arriving at the client’s address to attend to a plumbing problem, he experienced a surprise encounter with a potential little submissive. Dan’s mind is sent in a spin as he realizes that he may not need to grow old without his special little to adore. It’s going to take all his skills to help his boy heal and develop the confidence to learn to trust him.
I'm a Turkish multi-genre indie author. I love writing tales swirling (or intertwined by) with elements of romance, passion, mystery, horror, and fantasy where falling in love with a different kind of hero is the only possibility...
A Sweet & Cute MM Age-Play romance with Hurt-Comfort, Mild Age-Play, Being adorable, Learning to Live strong, Moving Forward, Toys, Sexiness, Love & HEA. I Adored Justin & Dan! DEVOURED this in 3hrs.
#My 1st by Lily & will surely read more! The writing was overall well, In some lines at 1st few pages there're some Grammar problems (Past/Present) but not much! This was a quick read for me; Novella style! Their interactions were adorable❤, I could see how well they leaned on eachother. Justin's Depression is also depicted very well, I teared up quite a bit, Dan is so sweet with him!
Justin is a sweet & Shy guy who works as illustrator in children's books. He's gay & into Age-Play (Little) lifestyle, but inexperienced. Since his grandparents died, all he had was his dog, living together in that house...but now Tinky's dead too. As days pass, Justin grew more depressed, never going outside much. We see it all 1st hand. Then one day when his plumbing has problems, he calls the plumber. A Visit that changes it all.
Dan is a Caring & Reliable guy. After his mom died when he was 10 from cancer & his dad became an alcoholic, he had some bad time in foster care. But since his uncle Mitch took him in, his life's been back on track, now he's a Owner/plumber in Mitch's company & Mitch is touring the world. Dan also has a cute dog Tex! Dan is gay & dreams of finding a submissive who's into Age-Play, but in their area, its nearly impossible. Or is it?
Justin & Dan had instant Attraction & when Dan also took care of Justin during his panic & Anxiety, a friendship formed. They both want eachother, their meeting was like fate, but Dan took it slow for Justin. As days pass, through Talks, Mild Age-Play & Fun times, they grow closer, fall for eachother. ~Tinky & Hurt, Plumbing Troubles, Dan & help, The Cute Toys, Making Fairy-dew, Talks, The Lifestyle, Let's pursue, Park & home, Days pass, Bedtime feels, Care & Naked, Epiphany, Vulnerable, Recovery, Bath time & Kisses, Sexy times, Love in the air, Daddy, I love yous, HEA..!
I loved how Dan takes care of Justin. Beautifully, Justin comes out of his shell too! Their relationship is glossed over but we get to see the main events & hot times! All throughout though, Justin hadn't called Dan daddy, & at end when he does, It's a dramatic *Omg!*, lovely & special moment for them sure! I'd have loved an epilogue but them being adults & already planning a future, I'm sure they'll be alright❤.
I really don't want to be too harsh since this author clearly tried her best to write a nice hurt/comfort age-play book, but I've decided not to continue right now since the writing constantly pulled me out of the story.
Present and past tense in the same sentence, unrealistic dialogue, info dump about the character's backgrounds, etc.
It's really too bad because the story itself had lots of potential.
I might try a book by this author in the future if the writing improves. 🤷🏻♀️
Justin is inconsolable after his dog Tinky passed away. He’s a loner and now really alone. Losing everything he loved was depressing. He’s a cute little, but a bad experience with a man, left him just as a shell, miserable, easily hurt. He doesn’t take good care of himself and now his bath which should have comforted him doesn’t drain either, how much can he handle. A long, caramel-colored hunk of a guy was blocking the whole doorstep. Justin can’t speak. Dan, the one who will fix the water problem, understands the lovely young man before has a panic attack. His protective side and need to care is promptly on the front, the boy’s reaction to his voice is immediate. This can’t be possible, in this small town he found someone who’s like him?
Oh gosh, I loved this story. I loved utterly vulnerable Justin and wonderfully caring Dan. How they were testing their boundaries, knowingly or unconsciously. Justin as a little was so sweet, Dan's natural behavior as a Daddy was everything. The story starts with a summary of where both came from and developed from where they meet. Strongly focused on both men and their interactions, nothing else, I loved this. Their characters were wonderfully portrayed, one extremely vulnerable and inexperienced, one, equally inexperienced, just naturally doing what felt good. A great combination. It’s a well-structured, solidly written story with a kind and empathetic vibe, a slow burn, I would have loved some more romantic moments and a somewhat prolonged end, but that’s me. Overall an enjoyable narrative. Justin felt just like the boy on the cover.
i freakin adored this. it was sweet and cute and sad.. so many emotions.. it was a rollercoaster of emotions.. it was wonderful.. i loved it and cant wait to read more by this author.
This was a thought-provoking book which took me out of my comfort zone in terms of the subject matter, which was a first for me and had me questioning my reactions. Scanning the reviews before writing my own in order to see how it affected others, I saw that it has similarly conflicted some of these too.
The fact is that it’s a well-written story of Justin, struggling with depression after the loss of his long-term pet and also struggling with the fact not just of being gay in a small community but of his own particular needs in any relationship which he might find. Enter Dan, with his own needs which perfectly complement those of Justin, and a tentative relationship begins; tentative because so far the two young men have only lived their desires in their dreams. Putting these into practice is a first (the abusive relationship which Justin had previously doesn’t count), and both try hard to understand the other and build something lasting.
I came away having learned a great deal about how another sector of the community live, and I believe that is the purpose of books such as Dearest Daddy. If no-one writes about these relationships then people like me will remain ignorant of them, and it is ignorance and fear which builds hostility rather than understanding and acceptance, in my opinion. I’m glad I read it and increased my understanding; I shall continue to read such works, and hopefully continue to learn from them.
This book had me in my feels from page one! Such a sweet love story. I was immediately invested in these characters. Lily did a great job bringing them to life.
This book deals with emotional issues like depression after losing his pet to being deemed with patience and love. Sometimes after a loss you need to heal and let someone in your life.
Loved this book, depressions is everywhere in every place around the world it is hard but like this little he found help from his doctor and getting his own daddy is a big bonus for him
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I've read a few Dom-Sub stories but this is the first one that I got to learn about a Little. I never knew such a thing existed before reading this story and I found it both heartwarming and lovely. The story revolves around Justin, A young man that lost both his parents when he was little and was raised by his grandparents in a small town. He's living in the house that his grandparents left to him and he's thoroughly depressed and sad because his little dog Tinky died. If that wasn't bad enough, his bathroom is having plumbing issues so he calls Dan the plumber. Dan comes over like a superhero and fixes the clogged pipes and sees the toys in tub. This sparks his own interest as a Dom to take care and shower Justin with attention and affection. They are both new to this kink, but Justin actually had an abusive Dom before and hopes that Dan won't be like him. Dan does everything in his power to give Justin what he desires while trying to get him eat more because his Little was malnourished in many ways. This is a beautifully written story about love and being able to reciprocate it between a Dom-Sub. I highly recommend this one!
I've been missing good Daddy/little books and had hoped this would cut it but it just didn't.
There's hurt/comfort and two in the same lifestyle searching their way forward together, but we don't truly get much age play. It's an introduction and a talk about what it will say to be either a Daddy or a little. But I was missing the playing and the connection, there was a lot of time jumps so we more got told about how their relationship evolved than experiencing it ourselves.
I wasn't a fan of how Dan took control of Justin the moment he realised the guy responded favourably to the Daddy tone. Consent came after in this case.
Maybe it was just me, but I just didn't click with the book. It didn't really feel like love, more like a little being lonely and latching on to the only one giving him attention.
Story follows Justin who, after loosing his faithful companion, lapsed into depression with no friends or family and was totally alone. That was until he met Dan who helped his recovery, fulfilled his inner most desires and fantasies and turned his whole life around. This is a great book, beautifully written, and so easy to read but has a powerful underlying message. It tackles the taboo subject of depression but with the added weight of being gay with a twist. It describes the emotions and feelings of someone with depression but also enforces the message that being gay is nothing to hide away from, just be yourself and love will come a knocking. A book full of raw emotion where characters wear their hearts in their sleaves. Fantastic, and I'm not afraid to say, I learnt a lot, thank you Lily x
It is a touching and beautifully written book that delves into the complexities of love and healing within the unique framework of a Dom-Sub relationship. Dan's patience and nurturing spirit allow Justin to embrace his true self, helping him break free from the chains of his past and the belief that he is unlovable. The book skillfully captures the nuances of their relationship, portraying the dynamics of trust, vulnerability, and acceptance. The story is filled with moments of sweetness, sadness, and joy, creating a rollercoaster of emotions that will resonate with readers. With its delightful happy ending and message of hope, this book is a testament to the idea that love can be found in unexpected places and that everyone deserves to be cherished. It's a heartwarming and uplifting tale that will leave readers with a renewed belief in the possibility of happiness and connection.
The bones of a good story were there, but this was unsatisfying in just about every way. It was like a 5-star story was the ocean, and this story was just skittering along from wave tip to wave tip.
The dialogue was unrealistic, and the syntax felt odd to me. The editing could have been better too, as, more than once, within the same paragraph, the POV switched, and Dan was referring to Justin, and then Dan was also being referred to by name.
This was the book version of eating a plateful of meringues when what you're really looking for is a full steak dinner with veg and potatoes and a giant slice of black forest cake. Sweet, but ultimately not satisfying at all.
This book has been on my recommendation list for awhile and I finally broke down and attempted to read it. I almost made it to the end by sporadically reading pages because the story line was not that interesting. I didn’t like either character especially Dan. The build up to their relationship was laughable and not in a good way. No real backstory. I don’t understand the high praise unless people just like it for, what I’m assuming is, the HEA. I could continue on with the issues I have with this book but I won’t.
I would recommend reading something else but who knows you might like it.
Daddy Dearest is a heartfelt M/M romance exploring grief, self-acceptance, and the healing power of love. Justin, an artist struggling with loss, secretly longs for the care of a Daddy Dom. Dan, a plumber hoping to nurture a little, unexpectedly finds what he's looking for in Justin. Their journey is gentle, emotional, and deeply intimate, with Dan patiently guiding Justin toward healing and trust. Lily Lamb’s writing is soft and comforting, making this a low-angst, slow-burn romance perfect for readers who enjoy age play dynamics and nurturing relationships. A touching story about finding love in unexpected places.
This book was marketed on Facebook as a "sweet daddy/little" story. Which totally missed the mark. It IS the story of a boy who would like to be a little. And a man who would like to be a daddy. But the overall themes of loneliness and clinical depression detract from any relationship building between Dan and Justin. It was more than angsty. It was a downright depressing read. I'm sure that someone who enjoys more "realism" in their books would enjoy this. Not me. Give me the fantasy. I will take a pass on this author.
I can tell the writer did their homework and made the characters not only likable but real in the sense that I honestly believed them. It just goes to show how diverse the gay community is and that there is a place in it for everyone. We need to stop judging books by the covers and look inside to see what is really inside people. This gives us a glimpse into unfamiliar things and shows that people are different. Thank you for the insight to a different world.
Okay, this book sounded like it would be a really cute hurt/comfort Daddy/Little story. What it turned out to be though was a poorly written info dump about loneliness, grief, clinical depression, and the age play lifestyle loosely masquerading as a story. We spent so much time in the characters' heads and so little time in their instalove time together. We got a few meals together, one bath, and a few story times plus we were told they had sex many times but didn't get to see any of those times. I only rated it two stars instead of one because of how well the author did describe depression.
The story is sweet and the main characters, Justin and Dan, are adorable. Justin is suffering from depression and anxiety after his dog, Tinky, passed over the rainbow bridge and Dan is inexperienced in age-play. I appreciate that neither is perfect or completely secure in their roles. Overall I liked the story; however, even though this is a short book, it still felt too long. There was a lot of exposition, much of which was repetitive or seemed unnecessary as it didn’t move the story forward.
I hate leaving awful reviews but reading this was awful. Maybe a really good editor is needed. I can deal with a lot but reading about a depressed character should make me feel empathy, not more depressed myself. Though my feelings might just be from the poor writing. Also, longitudinal is not a description for a door. I'm not quite sure why that one particular poor word choice got me so bad but it did.
This had such potential. It was actually a good story, but the execution was lacking. The internal dialogue felt very fake, and there was a lot of telling as opposed to showing. The characters always tell the reader how they feel instead of feeling those feelings. The constant italics on certain words also threw off my reading - I had to tune those out since they were italicized for no reason at all. Overall I was disappointed.
This was the first book in this genre I have read, so it was an experiment for me. I'm glad the author focused on the relationship first and saved the sex for the end. I found it unusual that the author repeated some of the scenes in two consecutive chapters- one from each character's point of view, but basically the same scene. This was well written and overall a good book.
Daddy Dearest is an emotional tale. After the death of his dog, Justin suffers from depression. As he works from home, he is compounded with loneliness. Something most of us can relate to in recent years. However, it’s more of a love story than a novel about depression. When he meets Dan, his world changes. However, the story hinges on male domination. It iI not gratuitous.
This book explores, explains & justifies the "Daddy/Little" gay relationships which used to be considered kinky, but now can be discussed openly. The characters slowly but surely fall in love and find what they want, which is to express their needs openly and in a loving, trusting way. To me it brings up the question of how much we ALL bring this kind of thing into any relationship, spoken or not, conscious or not, but being totally aware of every step and motive is an interesting first step.
This book should have come with a bit of a trigger warning for depression and anxiety. It's a bit of a heavy read and maybe not suitable for everyone.
The writing style was a bit off putting too with a lot of info dumping. I love littebooks and was looking forward to this book but no definitely not for me.
This took me no time to read. Yet again a well-done book from this author. The main character Justin had so much on his plate. Going through life, and trying to figure out what is going to happen for him. This is a well-put-together coming-of-age book, and I give props to this book. Well done! It was well-formatted, and easy to read. I loved it.
This was the first book in this genre I have read, so I went in with my eyes wide open, and you want to know something? I enjoyed it immensely. Justin has been through a lot and needs someone dominant, exactly like Dan, to be able to face the world again and come out of his shell. I found both characters endearing and loved the progression of the story to its HEA.
First time reading this author and I enjoyed this book very much. Cute couple both wanting something they thought impossible until a clogged pipe brings them together. Daddy/little dynamic with age/gap. No angst with a HEA. I recommend this book to those who love Daddy's and their littles.
This was a beautiful sweet romance of two very different people thinking they'd never find anyone that would be the perfect match until by chance they find each other. Justin has a lot of healing that needs to take place and Dan hopes to be the one to help him with his brokenness.
