Brody: I never let anyone get close. It’s too easy to lose the people you love. Just like I lost my mother, Shannon, after whom I named my business. That strategy has worked splendidly, until the night my steel walls were shattered by a single kiss.
Freedom: What harm is a little New Year’s Eve kiss? It doesn’t mean anything. The same applies to a New Year’s Eve hook-up, right? Except I can’t get that infuriating man out of my mind. Not even to focus on the most important task of my life, completing my last semester at Stanford.
At his distillery, Brody McCrae crafts a fine Scottish whiskey, while Freedom Mercier is finishing her Master’s degree with big plans to change the world. When the two of them are brought together at a holiday party, neither one can predict the impact that moment will have on their lives…and those they love.

Another enjoyable read continuing Freedom and Brody's story. The author once again pulled me in and had me glued to the pages right to the end. It's well written ,moves fluidly and is a great story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I can honestly say I do not know why this book was written. Brody and Freedom. Yes, there is that ridiculous name thing going on that sets my teeth in edge. Ugh. Anyway, he sells his liquor and was at a faculty party to network. He met Fredom, a senior year doctorate student at midnight on New years Eve. But that is it except random hook-ups as they run into each other.
This is the 6th book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Brody never lets anyone get to close until one night he shares a steamy night with Freedom. Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and twists and turns. Great characters and sizzling chemistry. I liked it.
I am absolutely loving this Scottish Billionaire series as each story holds its own uniqueness and this one is certainly no different❣️Brody and Freedom meet at a New Years Eve Party out together by the Stanford University…Brody is there to network in the hopes of expanding his whiskey to a broader audience😁
I can’t wait to read the second instalment of this couple. I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
As with all of the Scottish Billionaires series, keeping track of the blended McCrae family with 16 children is a part of the story, but SINGLE MALT intersects so many other stories so well, it is really like this world created by M.S. Parker really exists out there.
The thing about this story, though, is it is out of sequence. We already know what happens with Eoin (one of my favorite duets). It wasn’t until about half way through SINGLE MALT that I realized I also know what happens to Aline and Freedom. I admire the author’s consistency in the portrayal of Freedom because I thought the same things about her when reading Aline’s story - that she was too much in Aline’s business and treated Aline like a child.
I liked following the breadcrumbs in this story and look forward to where they will lead in part 2. The biggest mystery to me right now is how Freedom came to be so distrustful and guarded in her relationships. We only had a small clue on that. I am also interested in finding out if Brody decides to take a friend to Club Prive or the Black Masque.
This is a good story with much to be resolved in part 2.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The sex is definitely good between Brody and Freedom. But this story did not grab me as much with all the back story. I needed the chapters to concentrate more on the interactions between them. On developing a more solid foundation. But Freedom is too head strong and too concentrated on being an independent woman hear me roar that she behaves like a jerk most of the time. When in reality she has a big selfless heart and she should allow someone to take care of her. And Brody has all the good intentions to do so but doesn't want to push. A lot of time is wasted but I'm looking forward to the point in the next book when life will throw them back together. They won't be able to deny their chemistry and potential to be more any longer.
This book is part of a series and I guess you would definitely benefit from reading the other books to get an idea of the dynamics, however, unlike other book series… I feel like it isn’t essential to read the sagas in any particular order because the timeframes overlap instead of continue. To be honest, it has made this book more confusing in many ways, because having already read book 4 and 5, Eoin and Aline’s epic love story - I already know that they will come together.
It’s actually made reading this story a little difficult to follow. I’m struggling with time lines and where everything from the other books fits in. I almost feel like I need to read the other 5 books again because I’m a little perplexed.
Now, what this book has done is given me a very different and a little more favourable opinion of Freedom Mercier - our female lead. We met her in book 4 as Aline’s rather controlling, stubborn and frankly annoying older sister. In Aline’s story I really did not like Freedom… in fact I think I wrote that in my review of book 4 and 5.
Having now read the situation from Freedom’s point of view, I understand her a little more. What came across as bossy, controlling and smothering in Aline’s story now suggests a very protective and special bond between the two sisters which is deepened by Aline’s rather delicate and vulnerable start in life. However, we learned in books 4&5 that Aline is far from the brittle and breakable waif that Freedom sees her as. Seeing Freedom’s obvious feelings of obligation and responsibility for her sister puts a whole new layer onto the relationship, one that wasn’t entirely visible before.
This book does bring us the beautiful Brody McCrae. OMG I love this guy. He’s all kinds of special. Not only is he gorgeous like his brothers Alec and Eoin, but first and foremost he’s loving and loyal towards his family. There is also an incredible level of respect towards the women he is involved with, whether they are his family, his friends, his colleagues or his lovers. Even though he is a self confessed monogamous ladies man, he doesn’t give promises he doesn’t intend to keep and every one of his lovers has known where they stand. He’s not looking for permanent… or at least that’s what he thinks until he meets Freedom.
When they keep ending up in erotic and passionate encounters, Brody can’t help but ask himself if his single status needs rethinking. When he can’t get the blonde, green-eyed beauty out of his head, he wonders if he’s missing out.
Freedom is also having the same quandary. With a lifestyle choice that mirrors Brody’s view on relationships, she too had never considered entering into a relationship. She had her sister to take care of and until Aline is settled and happy, she would keep her own relationship status as single and carefree. But there’s something about Brody that keeps her going back for more.
What annoys me about Freedom the most though is her inability to see past her own preconceptions and prejudices. There are so many times in this book where I wanted to slap her round the face with a wet fish and ask her where the hell she gets the right to jump to conclusions about the gorgeous Brody. She never gives him the chance to talk to her. Instead of getting to know him, she has her moment of fun and then hot foots it out the door! Why would you do that to a guy like Brody McCrae? If he took me back to his hotel room/car/apartment… you’d have to literally pry me away from his gorgeousness! Nothing could get me to leave! He’s beyond beautiful.
Instead she gets it into her head that his kindness and thoughtfulness is just a way to get into her panties. She can’t for one minute believe that he’s genuinely just a really good guy. She is just so frustrating!
Anyway… I’m interested to see where book 7 goes from here because I know what happens in books 1-5 and I want to see where this leaves our two reluctant lovebirds.
Great book… a little slow in places and some unnecessary scenes that didn’t really increase my knowledge or understanding of the characters. I do, however feel the I’m getting to appreciate Freedom’s overprotective personality from books 4&5 now that I can see things from her point of view. Still not sure whether I ‘like’ her yet. She needs to give Brody a break and see that he’s a genuine guy and also let Aline live her own life… which I know from Aline’s story, that she has to do eventually. I guess part of her personality comes from the guilt associated with her deeply harboured feelings of resentment: for having to be her sisters keeper and protector for all the years when she should have been living her own life and making choices based on her own wants and needs. Instead, she has lived her life around Aline. I’m hoping that when she finally realises that Aline is more than capable of living her own life… Freedom will have the freedom to finally be herself.
Brody is younger than Alec but older than Eoin. If you have read the four earlier books, that will make perfect sense. If you haven’t, The Scottish Billionaires family is a very complicated tree. But it’s all explained as you venture through Brody’s extremely busy life as the owner and creator of a distillery, named Shannon’s after his late mother. He began by producing quality beers and is now distilling high-end whiskies as well. Brody’s currently introducing his whiskies to the top universities throughout the country, which they can serve at faculty events. With Stanford being his current WIP, he attended their New Year’s Eve function to network and enquire about their interest, and he spotted the most beautiful woman walking around the event. He was determined to find her within the crowd, before the countdown began. Freedom is not only beautiful, she’s an intelligent graduate student of Political Science, can speak six different languages and is also Aline’s older sister. If you have read Eoin’s story in book four of TSB series, she came across as overprotective and overbearing, with quite a brusque temperament. Reading this book that runs in correlation to books one and four, you get to understand her personality traits with more clarity. Freedom is relentless. She doesn’t suffer fools gladly and is single-minded, pushing herself to the point of overdoing it. She had volunteered to help out her advisor until she can find a new TA, but is often mistaken for a personal assistant. Baby sitting an immature freshman from Spain, picking up visiting guests from airports and organising functions weren’t things that she realised would go on her résumé! She doesn’t do relationships but she does have hook ups to scratch that itch. She’d been invited to her mentors New Years Eve function, as an opportunity to network. She ended up bringing in the New Year with a gorgeous guest in tailor-made tuxedo. It was only ever meant to be one night. But as their lives overlap, bringing them together when they least expect it, neither can deny that they can’t seem to move on... This story is another well written, fabulous addition to this series. The fact that we are reading Brody and Freedom’s story as it correlates with Eoin’s and Aline’s is fabulous. The first thing you begin to consider, before your even half way through the book is, how misunderstood she came across in book 4! Freedom admits herself as being stretched too thin and Brody is realising that he needs to start delegating and employing more staff. The book hi-lights in an tactful manor, how different working environments are perceived for both men and women. The chemistry between Brody and Freedom’s ‘not-a-relationship’ is off the charts and there is a definite fated and heartwarming meant to be element within the lines. Absolutely wonderful. (This book can be read as a standalone, but reading them in order creates such a brilliant, three dimensional foundation).

I've enjoyed this series,... but this one was a bit disappointing ..... I am not sure what was going thru this authors mind , maybe she was just having an off day or wanted to create a filler book ... who knows, but this book was hard to get thru, sadly..... This book went beyond filling space and sharing sexual encounters for both ....Freedom who seems to be a pain in the rear end ... and Brody is made out to be a man ho ..... Alec's story was good by the time the 3 whole books had been drawn out telling their story ..... Then we learn all about Aline and Eoin. which of course we know Freedom was again a reverse mysogynistic (or however it is spelled ) about when men diss on women ,.. well she is always dissing on men .... cause her character is so superior........ Sadly tho instead of picking it up there, the author takes us backwards and goes back months before the events we read in books 4 and 5 and so it became sadly a tedious read.... grant it looking back thinking maybe the author felt she had to fill in with sexual exploits to increase the series ??? who the heckie knows .... either way we get the same events over again from differing pov's.
We end up having to go thru the Brody/Freedom history that was touched upon in the book when Eion and Aline had their 2 book story... which really there again could have just been 1 complete story ......BUT also nothing in this book touched upon how she connected with Cain ??? Maybe the issue was that it was too much of a reminder of all the siblings... and the author had to explain one more time for any who could not remember .. :) I myself already felt like I knew who was who.........but because maybe ?? Brody and Freedom needed to have a lot more sex ....which then leads to another book..... I never really cared for Freedom's character but .. (maybe that is just me) to get more insight into her was very unnecessary for this reader ...........
Hooking up every time they see one another when both people declare "I only do one night stands" That’s how Brody & Freedom are written and do from the first time they meet. Supposedly they have an INSTA attraction. They try to stay away from each other because it’s for the best.... seriously ?? They both have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders and are too busy for a relationship. On the other hand, they can’t stop thinking about each other. This book ends with another one night stand, but they are both trying to come to terms with their feelings ??.....I'm almost not looking forward to reading the next book because I'm wondering if I will have to do more skim reading cause of Freedom and her adversion to being a woman who realizes she is falling in love with a man who rocks her world .........Or Brody trying to figure out .. does this mean he is in love?? and I'm hoping it wont take forever for them to get it together. ..... This reader is sadly disappointed with this book... But I dislike giving out 1 stars so,... it was ok...

Brilliant job Parker, thanks for sharing this amazing thrill with us.
Brody has a flourishing business and it seems to just keep growing. He has a huge family that he holds just above his business as #1 & #2. Family is always first. New Year’s Eve finds him working his business magic at a Stanford University gathering. It would be a huge opportunity to be able to add the university to his sales list. As he is having a conversation with the professor who arranged this possible sale, he spots an amazing face and figure that takes his breath away.
Freedom is all about graduation and her life goals. Finish college, get a job and keep moving forward, no relationships to tie her down, nothing to slow her progress. Her only concerns are her little sister and getting through this last semester of college. She sees attending this New Year’s Eve gathering as a way to do some networking to help with her career after graduation. She along with all the other attendees are just waiting for the last few minutes of the old year to pass when a gorgeous man ventures up and whispers in her ear that he wants to kiss her at midnight. She has no problem with a hookup to celebrate but that kiss was more than she expected.
One night is all they expected but that’s not how things are working out.
After Alec and Eoin, it’t time for another brother’s story - Brody, this time. I get a glimpse of him in Alec’s and Eoin’s stories, and I like him a lot! I like that all stories intertwine, and I have the opportunity to read about old events from another POV. And speaking the linked stories - Brody’s love interest is Freedom, Aline’s sister! And I must say that in Eoin and Aline’s story, I like Freedom and also she annoy me on some parts. I just get to partially understood and forgive her in the end. But this is another story..... literally. And now I get Freedom’s perspective.
Regarding Freedom and Brody - I love their blooming love story, their interactions and just can’t wait for the second part! I’m curious how this head strong people, who don’t wamt relationships will realize that they need one another.
The extended family McCrae / Carideo / Gracen provide a lot of characters and I will love to read all of their stories! So, M.S. you have to write them! Please, please, please!

Firstly, if you don't like cliffhangers, wait for the next book.
Brody and Freedom spend a rather passionate New Year's Eve/early hours of next day together in what should have been a one night stand. But as is often the case in many stories, that's not where matters end. On several occasions they met up, hook up, go their separate ways and each time both of them become more emotionally invested in each other. Just as they seem to be becoming some sort of couple, Freedom sees Paris and assumed the worst about Brody. Now they need to sort that out.
It's a while since I had read the last book in the series, so initially I kept thinking, 'I'm sure I've read this already', and I sort of have, in the earlier books. And, to be fair, how many unique storylines can 16 siblings have ;-).
I enjoy these books mainly because they wonderful escapism, good excuse to take a pause from whatever.
I still cannot work out the Freedom and Aline relationship...hopefully I will get there one day.

This book is hard for me to read because it starts off as if his brother Eion hasn't come home from his tour yet and Freedom's sister Aline has not met Eion. This is about one of the brother's Brody who owns and runs a whiskey business. Although his family is rich, he wanted to be a self-made man and he definitely succeeded because he built his whiskey business from the ground up. While is trying to get additional business he is at New Year's Eve party with professors from a college, he becomes enchanted with Freedom. Freedom is the sister of Eion's love Aline. Freedom definitely lives up to her name because she is a free spirit and definitely independent. Brody realizes he wants more than Freedom is willing to give. It will definitely be interested to see how Brody wears her down to see things his way.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and how deep hate can run, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you. This is book six in the series however, each book can read as a standalone but why would you read just one when you can read all. If you have read the previous books, then you will know the plot thickens and the chemistry is just as intense, and the magnetic pull couldn’t be ignored so let’s follow Freedom see why she isn’t the relationship type. What happened to her and Brody will they find happiness?
Even though this is the 6th book in the series it is Brody and Freedom's first story. You can easily start here if you haven't read any of the others.
This is a story that will push and pull you in several directions. There was more than once I was frustrated with Freedom. She jumps to conclusions more than once about Brody and doesn't let him explain and she seems overly afraid to live her life. She's been looking out for her younger sister for so long that it's become a huge part of her identity.
Brody also is forceful in certain aspects but doesn't ask for clarity in others. He's so afraid to allow himself to be vulnerable that he'd rather watch someone walk away than risk putting himself out there.
I wasn't ready for this one to be over so soon. Can't wait for the next and hope they both gain a bit of maturity.
I received an advanced cot of this story through BookSprout and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
A great read for the first book of the story of Brody and Freedom.
Hooking up every time you see one another when both people only do one night stands; what does this mean? That’s what Brody & Freedom do from the first time they met. The attraction was instantaneous. They really try to stay away from each other because it’s for the best. They both have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders and are too busy for a relationship. On the other hand, they can’t stop thinking about each other. It’s a steamy book right from the beginning, which I loved. I didn’t have to wait for the steam to begin until half the book was over. This first book ends with another one night stand, but they are both realizing their feelings are coming to fruition. What will happen going forward? I can’t wait to find out in the next book. Great job M.S. Parker, for holding my attention once again with your books.
So this review is for both books for Brody and Freedom.... Single Malt and Perfect Blend. There may be some minor spoilers but nothing earth shattering really. Just my take on the overall books mostly.
Ok, so first the sex scenes were hot. Hands down better than Eoin and Aline.
Overall, the characters were ok. -Freedom was a firecracker who didn't take crap from people which was nice but at the same time, she let others dictate her path in life (always looking after Aline and not out for herself) so it almost conflicted with the firecracker within her. It was like she became dependent on Aline with a cover of "protecting" her. -Brody was good too. But their miscommunications and all the background story was a bit repetitive from other books and just seem to drag out a bit too much for my preference.
Some books I can't out down because I just wanna know what happens but this duet didn't give me that same feeling.
Are there too more compelling characters than Brody McCrae and Freedom Mercier? A chance meeting in New Year’Eve at Stanford University where she is a political science- international relations grad student and he is a whiskey maker whose “Shannon” is being served. One kiss, one first names only night of passion. Where will it lead and will it? Freedom is an incredibly intelligent, independent, strong-willed young woman who lives with and is highly protective of her baby sister and fellow grad student, Ailene. Brody is a charming Scot with 15 assorted creative, productive, independent and loving siblings. Ms Parker has written delightful characters with witty dialogue, intriguing circumstances, frustrations, mistaken identities, sibling protectiveness and love… that makes you want more books on this intriguing blended McCrae family… A truly delightful read… now off to Book 2 to see if Brody & Freedom get their HEA.
Sorry Brody, I'm still madly in love with your "brother" Eoin, but with so many brothers to choose from, what's a gal to do. This book's timeline's and Eoin and Aline's first book's timeline overlap. But this reads as a standalone, so it's no problem to follow. But, I am really, really happy Freedom will have her own story, so here it is. When Brody and Freedom meet at a New Year's Eve party, the chemistry is intense, steamy fun, but Freedom isn't a relationship kind of gal. Brody wants more from Freedom than she is wiling to give, but how he can do that remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see why Freedom is so distrustful and hesitant. Great first book and I can't wait for The Perfect Blend. And you can read all the Scottish Billioares books for FREE with your KU subscription.

Both Brody and Freedom thought that their New Year's Eve hook-up would be a one time thing, but with their chemistry and their paths seeming to cross, will it stay that way? The time line for this book crosses over with Eoin & Aline's story (though you wouldn't have to read their story to gather what is happening), but looking from Brody (Eoin's brother) and Freedom's (Aline's sister) point of view. I enjoyed learning more about what happened, from their different points of view, and starting to understand Freedom a bit more. I liked both Brody and Freedom, although sometimes Freedom is a bit stiff with everyone (and prone to jump to her own conclusions), but her heart is generally in the right spot. I look forward to reading the next part of their story.

This is Brody and Freedom story of love. Okay so the professor that Freedom has to pick up is super creepy and a lot scary. I am sure he is going to do something ever bad in the next book. But enough on that. I so loved that she is looking after her little sister but maybe it is to much for the sister I can not wait to see what happens with the sisters in the next book. As for Brody and is mixup half sisters and brothers that almost caused a heartache for Brody and freedom I loved how these two dance around one another then it sort of fixes itself only to have something else come crashing into them. I will be looking for the next book to see what happens next.

First off I have not read any of the other books in this series so yes you could read this as a stand alone but now I'm intrigued and I'm going to read the rest of the series. Brody what can I say he is yummy. He is the definition of playboy until he runs into Freedom at a New Year's Eve party and he can't seem to forget her. Freedom doesn't do relationship's, she's definitely independent and preoccupied with her sister. At times I just wanted her to get it together and get out of her own way. It will be interesting to see where MS Parker takes these two and like all books by this author you know there will be twists and turns to the story, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

We got to know a little about Freedom in Aline's story. Freedom is focused on school, finishing her masters and getting a job when she graduates. She spends a lot of time mothering her sister. Brody is in charge of a liquor empire he has created. He is not interested in a relationship. Freedom is even less interested in a relationship. However, she is drawn to Brody over and over again. She jumps to conclusions regarding his relationships with other women who turn out to be family. She keeps pushing him away but as soon as they are in close proximity they are hotter than a gas fire. This is definitely the first part of their story and I can't wait to see how it ends up.

The first of two books in the telling of Brody and Freedom's story. They met at a faculty party at Stafford on New Year's Eve, but as the year went on neither thought it was very lucky. They wanted no strings attached, just the one night together, but neither could forget the other or move on. There was more there than either was willing to admit. Brody tried to stay away from Stafford only two of his brothers lived in the area. Something kept drawing them together like moths to a light whenever they were near each other. This was an easy reading story that will capture your interest immediately holding it until the end leaving you wanting the rest of the story.

This series seems to follow a pattern, a long drawn out first half that does nothing to move the plot along and then a shorter second part that pulls it all together. Single Malt follows the same pattern. I thought Brody might be mote interesting and at first it seemed that way and then it went the same way as the previous Scottish Billionaire brothers books and it became tedious to read. Brody as a character was interesting but Freedom was awful and brings nothing to the story. Some of her decisions were less than stellar and how she graduated is beyond me. Hopefully the second book will be a little more interesting.
The most sinfully fated romance ever! Brody and Freedom meet at a New Years Eve party, exchange a blistering kiss and a sinfully steamy one night stand which is all each want from it. The one night was oh so sweet, so why can’t each of them forget about the other. Yet the devil of temptation tastes is too easy to bypass. Freedom and Brody each have their reason for avoiding relationships, so why is it that they can’t forget about the other. Add in a disgruntled visiting professor by Freedom’s standoffish behavior, and the plot thickens! I read this book in one sitting as I loved the way Brody and Freedom interacted with one another!
Like some sort of reverse Cinderella thing This book is about Brody and Freedom, and is the first one in a duet. They meet at a new year’s eve party at Stanford University. Whilst speaking to an important contact he had made, he was suddenly and surprisingly distracted by a beautiful blonde walking past him. When he sees her again and sidles up to her, he brazenly asks if she’d mind if he kissed her at midnight. There was a definite attraction there, and he asked her to join him at his hotel. What started as a kiss became so much more… Now to wait for ‘Perfect Blend’ to see what happens next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love this series, and Love Brody, but the story is a little out of sequence as we already know things that happen with Freedom and Aline. Although we didn't know their backstory as attending Stanford, but they had already graduated.
Freedom is a strong-willed and smart woman, Brody is an equally strong charming man, they meet at New Years; and their lives intersect after that with Brody's whiskey business.
I'm not quite done with the story, but am only giving four stars because of the sequence issue. I still love MS Parker's books and will continue to read. :)

Single Malt is the sixth book in The Scottish Billionaire Series which features Brody McCrea, owner of a Scottish whiskey distillery, and Freedom Mercier, an American student at Stanford working on completing her Masters Degree. While both individuals are committed to avoiding a lasting relationship, they meet at a New Years party where a kiss leads to a one night fling. They are not able to forget each other after that night. Their story continues in the next book of the series and is entitled Perfect Blend.
