Kirsten Osbourne’s Brides of Beckham series is what started me reading again after a lengthy break due to small kids. Her books make me laugh, make me cry, give me hope and help me to forget this crazy reality of daily living. Her historical westerns take the reader back to simpler times full of hard-working, God-fearing folk who embody the sense of community I wish existed today. Kirsten’s Brides of Beckham books not only fed my reading desires but sparked the writing desire within me. She is fabulous! I highly recommend!
After reading these books about mail order brides I realized that I would have been one of those women who decided to take a chance on adventure and cross a country to marry a stranger. I hope there is some truth in these stories and more importantly that they could escape a bad marriage with an abusive husband. It is no fun living in fear and being told you are no good for anything.
These were all enjoyable stories but it seemed that each successive book was more carelessly written, with more and more mistakes. I’ll admit it frustrates reading books excessive errors in spelling, grammar, omitted words, added words that are out of place, and mixing up character and place names. Occasional ones are not too bad but repetitive ones, no thanks.
Kirsten Osborne is a new author for me and I really enjoyed reading all of these 10 books. Each one was different, but had the same theme of a mail order bride coming from Massachusetts. I loved all of the different characters and all of the different places the went to. Try one book and I guarantee you will read them all!
I enjoyed the series. Each book was creatively wtitten and the characters engaging. The books definitely needed more editing though. As an educator I itched to get my red pen and edit the extra words and typos that made it sometimes confusing to follow.
I would have liked to give 5 stars but there are many spelling mistakes, and several errors referring to the people involved in the stories. I can overlook that and say that I really enjoyed the books.
Nice enough stories. I read the series of 10. The mail order format seemed to tie into a pattern or formula. I did not expect or care for the detailed wedding night "relations" scenes. If you don't mind you may enjoy the books.
Although I had read all the Brides of Beckham series when they were originally published in Kindle Unlimited, I enjoyed revisiting them this year. They are easy reading with likeable characters, and I hope there will be additional collections of the books in this series.
It never gets old reading these stories. I think I have read them at least 3 times each and now the first 10 are all together! Thank you Kirsten!! ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
