For the sake of a small boy, Ava, a firebrand Scottish mail order bride, must win the heart of her tough rancher husband? Not an easy task when she is the wrong woman accidentally sent to the wrong man.
When Ava steps from the train, Nolan immediately knows she is not the bride he sent for, but he is desperate enough to marry her. It could be a dangerous move, or the best decision he ever made.
And what is the significance of the white rose bush that she hugs so tightly?
Margaret Tanner is an award winning, best selling author.
As well as writing historical novels set in frontier Australia she has discovered a love for writing Western Romance. Her novella, Edwina of Connecticut is one of the 50 novels in the American Mail Order Bride series. Christmas Cowboy is in the Western Christmas Anthology, Silver Belles And Stetsons.
. She has had numerous short stories published over the years, but writing Historical romance novels is her passion.
Her favourite historical period is the 1st World War. Not only has she painstakingly researched this era, but was fortunate enough to make a poignant pilgrimage to the battlefields of Gallipoli (in Turkey), France and Belgium.
She is married with three grown up sons, and two gorgeous grand-daughters. Margaret lives in Australia. She has recently retired from work, and hopes to concentrate on her writing.
Nolan - wanted a mob really needed one whe his nephew came to live with him. Ava- looking to be a mob but after workplace with living space burned down she hoped to speed up the process. I enjoyed reading this entertaining story that is well written with unforgettable characters. Their story has a loving HEA!.
Margaret Tanner has done it again and taken the unexpected and turned it into a blessing. This is Ava and Nolan's story and the character development is excellent. Ava decides to become a MOB after loosing everything in a fire. Nolan is raising his sister's grandson Luke after his family died and decides he needs a wife to help him and advertises for a MOB. After being matched up by a matchmaking agency with a potential MOB and sending for her, Nolan goes to the train station expecting to meet Eva, his MOB. Imagine his surprise when Ava arrived instead. Oops. Will the couple be able to work through the mismatch and form a loving relationship that will eventually grow into a HEA? How will Nolan handle Ava's sassy, feisty disposition and her temper? Will Ava learn to love Luke? Be sure to read this fun book to find out...I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Can the mix up caused by an elderly lady who was deaf and almost blind bring two people who God intended together? Or are they being mixed up away from the one the were intended to be with? Women with similar names, men with the same first and the other last names. All in Texas. This was nice book to read about Romance despite circumstances. You’ll soon feel for The couple. As far as my advanced reading preteen friends this has suggestions on “ the wedding night” “ making her his wife in in more than one way” etc. so may have questions they may not understand. But nothing really sexual and there is no curse words so for my adult friends that like a clean good story this is one.
I really cannot imagine how scared and discouraged Ava had to have felt when she is greeted in Newstead, Texas, with only one change of clothes and a dying rose bush to find out that she was not the mail order bride that Nolan expected. God does work in mysterious ways sometimes and sometimes he uses a elderly deaf aunt to do it. Margaret Tanner always makes her storyline interestng and her characters relatable, except Ava might have been nicer and more forgiving that I might have been. I enjoyed this story.
.....or did fate intervene? Nolan may be expecting Eva but it is Ava that arrives and whilst she is the opposite of everything he thought he wanted, she is exactly what he needs! Ava is so lovely, she has a heart the size of Texas but when upset she can have a firey temper, as Nolan finds out! Love, laughter, misunderstandings and a new family, life will never be boring for Nolan and Ava. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
This is a sweet and loving mail order bride tale written by Margaret Tanner. Luke is expecting a bride to arrive today on the train, however by mistake Ava arrives, but Eve sends a telegram of refusal because Luke how has custody of his orphaned nephew. After lengthy discussion Luke and Ava marry much to the approval of not only Luke, Ava and young Nolan. You will enjoy discovering how they become one family and find their happily ever after.
It was ok. I liked the characters and i thought the small bit of comedy at the end with the shop owners was brilliant. Definitely need more than that, loved there was a nice little epilogue to finish it off. The reason for 3 stars was Nolan was a nice but i felt he kept going hot and cold, also there were random big words thrown in which i felt didn't really fit in with the story and Margaret Tanner has a bad habit of repeating things a few times which does get annoying.
i liked all the Characters in the story.. from my Great grandparents This is very believable… i do family history.. am back to the mid 1500s on some.. Have Irish, Scottish, French, Indian mixed in my lines. Also this was a good length of a read to keep me on my time line.. Well Done
Nolan was expecting to pick up his dark haired, brown eyed mail order bride, Eva from the train depot today. Instead he ended up with a blue eyed, fiery Scottish lass with a fiery temper to boot.
I enjoyed this story with its Scottish heroine who ended up without a home and was misdirected in her efforts to find a husband. Good characters and a fun plot. A good read.
I enjoyed this book so much and I love the storyline and the wonderful characters who live in it. I recommend each book Margaret Tanner writes and I'm off to choose another book by her. JudyE
This is an interesting mail order bride story. Ava felt lost when Nolan told her he wasn't the right man. Do other things going on they marry. I loved this story so I hope everyone enjoys this book.
This was a fun read. Just enough emotional dialogue to make it fun. I appreciate God, but they didn’t overwhelm you with God talking in this one. Just natural folks do a natural things. Thank you.
