Wow! I absolutely loved Miss Moonshine’s Emporium of Happy Endings, which is rather impressive when you consider I don’t read a lot of romance, and I’m not much of a fan of short stories. Perhaps I should start reading more of both after loving this so much.

This is a collection of nine short story romances written by nine different authors who all know each other. However, one other thing these stories have in common is the quirky, weirdly wonderful and somewhat mysterious character known as Miss Moonshine. After reading this book, I feel everyone could do with a dose of Miss Moonshine in their lives at some point. I’m really going to miss her and can't shake the deep desire to have a rummage around her wonderful shop!

I experienced a mixture of tears, giggles and smiles. While some stories entertained me in a feel-good way, others delved a little deeper within me and touched my heart. I think a lot of readers are going to absolutely adore this book and many of the characters.

Miss Moonshine’s Emporium of Happy Endings begins with two historical stories. Fair Fugitive , a Regency romance, by Melinda Hammond, and Beatrice Marches for Women , an Edwardian romance, by Helena Fairfax. Both of these stories have strong characters and cover emotional, satisfying and thought provoking topics, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Then there are the ones I’d place under more sentimental stories. Take a Chance on Me , by Marie Laval, with its mysterious music box. The House on the Hill , by Helen Pollard, with a house full of belongings and memories of childhood friendship. The Girl Who Didn’t Win , by Kate Field, which is a story of a woman who loses everything. Then finds something of sentimental value belonging to someone else.

Miss Moonshine Says, ‘Go!’ , by Angela Wren is definitely one for fans of vintage racing cars.

While I enjoyed all of the stories and loved most of them, I did have three favourites:

The Man in Her Dreams , by Jacqui Cooper, which is a supernatural romance about a very special and magical necklace. I couldn’t wait to find out where this would lead, while also not wanting it to end.

The Angel Stone , by Sophie Claire, which is an empowering romance about a woman with a boring job, who loves to make jewellery. I think I’ve probably always been a crafty sort. I grew up doing a lot of crafts with my Otley Grandma. From the age of fifteen to eighteen I worked weekends in a hippy shop in York called The Bead Machine, making earrings to sell. Now I run my own online business selling novelty craft buttons, so have gone from crafter to craft supplier. Needless to say, I really connected with this story as it was close to my heart. I also adored the way Miss Moonshine was portrayed in this story, especially with her words of wisdom.

“If it feels like a risk, that’s when you’re truly living.”

“I’ve always thought real life was overrated, don’t you agree?”

While on the subject of Miss Moonshine’s words of wisdom, I just want to squeeze one in from The House on the Hill , by Helen Pollard:

“Time reminiscing isn’t time wasted. Memories are important. They’re not always firmly in the past. Sometimes they lead you to your future.”

Finally, The Last Chapter , by Mary Jayne Baker, a bookish romance that I loved, which isn’t very surprising, when you consider how much I love books and reading. I absolutely love the idea of The Book Defacers’ Club. It’s really not as bad as it sounds. I promise.

I will definitely be checking out other books by these authors and hopefully adding a few more books to my huge to be read mountain.

If you’ve made it this far through my review, that’s probably a good sign that I didn’t completely bore you, and therefore it’s quite likely you’ll love this book too. Miss Moonshine’s Emporium of Happy Endings is actually currently available to pre-order on Amazon Kindle for just 99p and is worth every single penny:

Imaginative, uplifting, and highly entertaining!

Miss Moonshine’s Emporium of Happy Endings is a lovely collection of nine short stories that have a little something for everyone, tender moments, oddball situations, hilarious hijinks, and a touch of mystery.

The stories are charming, well written and incorporate a wide variety of romantic genres including contemporary, historical, and a dash of the supernatural. And although each plot differs wildly, they all take place in the quaint village of Haven Bridge, and each features the unique, ageless, eccentric Miss Moonshine and her Bric-a-Brac emporium that never seems to have what anyone wants but always seems to have exactly what they need.

Overall, Miss Moonshine’s Emporium of Happy Endings is an enchanting read for everyone who enjoys love stories with happy-ever-after endings, and it's the perfect introduction to some very talented authors that you may not have read before.

Thank you to Helena Fairfax and the Authors on the Edge for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a delightful collection of stories, all bound together by a common theme - the village of Haven Bridge and Miss Moonshine and her Emporium.

I enjoyed every single one of these stories, and I wished to carry on reading them all as well, I was almost disappointed when each story came to an end! It was a good introduction to the writing styles of authors whose books I may not have read before too, and all the stories seamlessly incorporated the quirky Miss Moonshine and her interesting shop.

There were many life lessons to be learnt in this book, and each author did an outstanding job of keeping their story short but not TOO short, so that we got to know the characters quite well and could picture the scenes in our heads. It made me wish that there was a Miss Moonshine's Emporium near me, for when I need some answers to some of life's thorny questions!

Well done everyone :)

5 stars from me.

Thank you to THE Book Club. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I really, really want to give this more stars, but Goodreads won't let me - it would be at last a ten!!!
This anthology is the creation of nine amazing authors, women who know their craft. Some are new to me; whose work I will be reading more of from now on and some I have read before and those have become firm must read authors for me. Ok, I will admit that as soon as heard about this anthology I was really exited about reading it and Yes, I was jumping up and down like a toddler who had eaten too much sugar when I got offered the chance to read it. And it exceeds my expectations, I was hooked. It really is seriously good!

Miss Moonshine’s Emporium is basically a Bric-a-Brac shop sitting in the heart of a little Yorkshire village called Haven Bridge, it’s like one of those shops that you don’t necessarily know it’s there until you need it, and whatever it is you need you will find it – which doesn’t necessarily mean object’s that you can buy. This is a wonderful place and the heart of the community, even if said community doesn’t even realize how much they have need of Miss Moonshine’s Emporium – I really need to find myself in Miss Moonshine’s! The real appeal to this wondrous shop is the owner; Miss Moonshine!

She is a fascinating woman who knows what each of her customer’s want before they even know it, she has this talent to read people and she knows thing’s about a person that astounds. I have never known a character like her before she is unique, other worldly and mysterious. She is timeless, no matter what era each story is set in Miss Moonshine is her usually mystical, kind and compassion self. Like myself, each character who encounter’s Miss Moonshine is intrigued by her, there is a magical quality about her that draws you in and you are engulfed by her serenity and simplistic views.

Miss Moonshine’s Emporium of Happy Ending’s is a nine-story anthology, there are nine completely different stories and yet each one is connected with the others via the mesmerizing Miss Moonshine and her Emporium. Each story has its authors unique writing style, I really like how each of the author’s personalities really comes through their story. Each is as different as the authors are, this book just blends seamlessly together and flows from one story to the next, the transition is flawless and perfectly done.

Each story is heart-warming, fun and engaging to read. It is beautifully compiled to create a one of those rare books that is literally un-putdownable (Is that a word?). It is joyous, uplifting it leaves you on a high. It is joy incarnate, pure blissful escapism! It’s just so good, I really cannot say enough good things about it (I think I have probably over gushed as it is) and I know for a fact, that I will be reading this again. It is a fun, witty and above all very romantic book and I am hoping that ‘The authors on the Edge’ write another.

An absolute joy to read and very highly recommended!

I’m so sorry I have finished this book, I absolutely loved it. Each ‘chapter’ in the book is a completely different story written by a different Author, but you would never know. They all take place in the same beautiful little town called Haven Bridge, where you meet the mysterious Miss Moonshine, her little dog Napoleon and the wonderful Emporium of eclectic items. There the similarities end. The other people you meet in each chapter done re-appear in any subsequent chapters, but nevertheless the story weaves itself together and has a beginning and end of sorts.

Although I had more than enough books on my TBR pile the concept intrigued me, and I’m so glad I read it. I would have given this fabulous book more stars if I could have. To the lovely ladies of the book club that collaborated to write this - more please.

A great collection of feelgood stories. I enjoyed the variety; from historical to modern, from classic car runs to canal boat cafes, these stories cover a wide range, some light hearted, some a bit more serious, yet all clearly and well written with characters that are likeable and sympathetic. I really liked the eccentric and magical Miss Moonshine whose presence in each story acts as a catalyst to bring the couples together. Thoroughly enjoyable, I certainly recommend this for light summer reading -especially suitable for holidays when you might want shorter stories to read on a flight or on the beach.

I notice that almost every review of this lovely book begins with “I don’t really read short stories but…” so I’ll avoid the temptation to do the same. But this is a short story collection with a real difference, the link created by Miss Moonshine and her timeless emporium and the setting of Haven Bridge, and it all works just perfectly. And it’s a wonderful showcase for the talents of a group of very talented friends and authors – several of whom I’ve read and enjoyed before, and others I’ve added to my “must read their next novel” notebook.

With the link provided by Miss Moonshine, there’s real variety in this collection – beginning with two historical stories, a very touching Regency romance (and a thoroughly engaging one) from Melinda Hammond that I really (and slightly unexpectedly) enjoyed, and a lovely Edwardian romance from Helena Fairfax. I was on rather more familiar ground with what followed, and can honestly say that I loved every story – every one featuring strong characters, well developed story lines and a perfect emotional touch.

Maybe I shouldn’t pick out my favourites, but I will! I thought The Girl Who Didn’t Win by Kate Field was just one of those perfectly constructed stories with all the elements that would have made me more than happy to read a whole book based around its characters. The Man in her Dreams by Jacqui Cooper, with its supernatural touches, was exceptionally original and quite beautifully written. And The Angel Stone by Sophie Claire – a really excellent story, and an uplifting one about finding yourself and moving on. I also particularly enjoyed The Last Chapter by Mary Jayne Baker, a gorgeous bookish romance and a really original idea at its core.

I really shouldn’t have started this, should I? As I flick through the book again, I want to mention every single story – but I won’t. Do try this book, it’s the loveliest experience, a warm and unforgettable collection of happy ever afters, and a wonderful introduction to the work of a group of authors whose books deserve to be on every reader’s reading list. Oh, I do so wish Miss Moonshine, the wonderful Napoleon and the emporium were real… but then again, maybe they are.

What a refreshing read!
This is a lovely collection of nine short stories by different authors, with one thing in common - Miss Moonshine!
I am not usually a fan of short stories, I like to get stuck into a story and always feel that a short story won't satisfy me. That is where I think this book is so well done. Having the seperate stories all based around Miss Moonshine brings them all together, so it didn't really feel like nine different stories, it felt like one story - Miss Moonshines - from nine different perspectives of people whose life she had influenced in her amazing, magical way!

Enchanting Anthology, most definitely love the books inside and will be seeking out books by the authors new to me as of all of these talented authors I only know of Melinda Hanonfs books till now, so I'm even more delighted to have read them.

There is very much magic and love in the air and many twists and turns through out but each story definitely deserves to be here and read and I definitely recommend them.

Thank you all for writing these awesome stories and sharing them with the world.

Miss Moonshine is a special lady. Her Miss Moonshine’s Emporium in Haven Bridge offers both customers and sellers exactly what they need. Sometimes Miss Moonshine buys, other times she names a price a visitor can afford and she also gives. After a visit with Miss Moonshine someone’s destiny can completely change. The ageless lady and her dog Napoleon are there for everyone who needs them. Sometimes a customer stumbles upon the place by chance, others are being sent there or Miss Moonshine makes sure a person in need of her help will come in. When they leave they’ll find their true love, destiny, soul mate or a much needed second chance...

Miss Moonshine's Emporium of Happy Endings is a wonderful book filled with nine amazing stories by different authors about Miss Moonshine and her incredible shop. I was mesmerized by each item in Miss Moonshine's emporium. The lady knows exactly what someone needs and she's fabulously wise. This is something that comes back in each story. I loved that the stories are linked, each author writes about the same Miss Moonshine, but builds a unique story around her. It works very well and one of the reasons for this is that the quality of all the stories is constant. They are true gems and I liked their originality, charm and little spark of magic.

Each Miss Moonshine story is set in Haven Bridge. There's a large variety of wonderful fascinating characters from different times and places. Miss Moonshine brings people together, she unites in a beautiful way. Miss Moonshine's Emporium of Happy Endings is a celebration of life and love. There's so much goodness and sunshine in this book and that put a big smile on my face. I love it when I'm reading something that makes me happy and this book definitely fell into that category. The stories go well together, they are unique and the voice of each author can clearly be recognized, but they are also part of a whole. I was completely amazed by Miss Moonshine's Emporium of Happy Endings and highly recommend this fantastic book.

I don’t usually like short stories, never have really but I thought I would give this a go and I really enjoyed it. I think the reason why was because every story was all tied in to Miss moonshine which made the book different.
All written by nine different authors the whole book fits together so well and all of the stories are so good, I love historical fiction and also contemporary stories and this was a real mix.

I loved this selection of short stories about Miss Moonshine and her wonderful emporium. The stories were all different yet refreshing and all had the feel good factor when reading them.

I picked this book up whenever I wanted a pick me up read and enjoyed the variety offered by the authors whilst also all being focused around the common ground of Miss Moonshine's Emporium.

This collection of nine romantic short stories, each with a theme in common, really lightened my heart and, as each story ended, I was left with a rosy, warm glow, and an eager anticipation of what was to come in the next magical story.

Each of the stories are a perfect length to be read over a cup of tea and a Jaffa Cake, and even though the stories differ in content and even in timescale, the fine attention to detail and the love of writing comes across with each author's delicate contribution.

The appeal of good short stories is that they showcase just what the author is capable of, and it gives the reader a chance to sample the author’s individual writing style. And even though in Miss Moonshine's Emporium of Happy Endings the nine authors have very different writing styles, the generosity they have to each other in their collaboration works really well, with none of them wanting to outshine the others, and all of them making a generous contribution to the anthology as a whole.

It would be unfair of me to choose a favourite amongst the nine as I found something equally enjoyable in all of them, so I won’t single any out, but what I will say, is that this team of best-selling northern writers have a real hit on their hands with Miss Moonshine and her Emporium, and I really hope that they go on to work in partnership again in future anthologies.

Through the stories in this anthology we meet different characters and visit Haven Bridge in different seasons and eras. People and businesses come and go, and fashions and trends change, all with the exception of the mysterious Miss Moonshine, her dog Napoleon and her Emporium of Happy Endings. Those who have lost their way in life are assured of a warm welcome and some sage advice. In a funny way she seems to know what your problems are, even before you do.

Despite being written by different people and focusing on different issues, there was a seamless transition from one story to the next and it was remarkable how well each story complimented the others. I’m not sure whose idea this project was, but it was genius and it would be a real shame if this was the only collaboration between these writers.

It was a moment of perfect escapism, that took me into a cozy world where a little bit of Miss Moonshine’s magic never ceased to give me a warm feeling inside and make me smile. In my opinion it is worth a lot more than the current 99p kindle UK price.

This was a wonderful, feel good collection of stories by 9 different authors, all set in Haven Bridge and all featuring the magic of Miss Moonshine and her wonderful shop!

Times may change but Miss Moonshine and her tiny dog Napoleon and her shop full of bric-a-bracs never do. She knows what people coming into her shop want and need even if they don't know it themselves!
And she has her own ways of making sure they get what they come in for.
Each story is refreshingly different with sweet romance and just that bit of magic to make it unique.
I was left wanting more.

I am not normally a fan of short stories but quite enjoyed these - I think it was because each story was linked by the location and by Miss Moonshine herself. These stories are all a little bit "other worldly" but all quite different. I think every town needs a Miss Moonshine and a little bit of her magic. Thank you to the author and to TBC for the chance to read this title in exchange for an honest review.

Quirky and brilliant

We all need a Miss Moonshine in our lives! Was hooked from the first page. Loved every story which were all so different. Twists and turns so you couldn't see what was coming next. A perfect book to take on holiday. Would love to see more stories about the eccentric old lady. Brilliant idea that different authors wrote each story and they came together so well.

This was on kindle unlimited and is a light, chaste collection of short stories all set in the same town in Yorkshire. This would be good for when one is sick or on vacation. Most are romances( but not all) and, true to the title, all have happy endings. A cozy read and I enjoyed not having to skip anything due to content.

This collection of short stories is the literary equivalent of a relaxing bubble bath complete with scented candles and a glass of wine. Each story by the nine different authors has its own distinctive style and time frame, ranging from 19th C to modern day, but all are linked through the central character of Miss Moonshine, a wonderfully protean, time-defying creation, owner of the emporium referenced in the title. She appears in various guises, wearing anything from a Regency lace cap and silk gown to black leggings and an old leather jacket, accompanied by her tiny dog, Napoleon. The magical emporium, too, changes to suit the circumstances required by the different heroines who step through the rose-covered doorway and ‘who never know what they will find’. But one thing is sure: they will end up finding what they need, for ‘everyone has a dream’, and Miss Moonshine’s role is to give them a gentle nudge or a sharp prod in the right direction to make it come true. The path they follow may be rocky, but a happy ending is guaranteed, leaving the reader to share their bliss in this five-star feel-good anthology.

This is a lovely selection of short stories which is satisfyingly easy to dip in and out of. Each author brings a deeper awareness of the mystique of Miss Moonshine and her emporium, making it difficult to stop after each story, though I forced myself to do so in order to prolong the enjoyment.
I believe there is a Christmas anthology in the pipeline so I am looking forward to that very much.

Congratulations to the nine authors on a wonderful collection of short stories. They are all hugely enjoyable to read and mixed the romantic with the mystical, the historical with the present day - all centred on the mysterious Emporium manned by the wonderful character of Miss Moonshine in the evocative Yorkshire town of Haven Bridge.

As an initial premise I wondered how such a collection from different writers would succeed in one book - I need not have worried. I was engrossed in each individual and very unique story.

I found myself carried away into the world of Suffragettes in Helena Fairfax’s brilliantly researched story of ‘Beatrice Marches for Women’ as Beatrice is beginning to resent the limitations of women in her era and longs to study medicine.

In ‘The Man in Her Dreams’ by Jacqui Cooper a necklace magically links the lives of two women. Laura and Olivia can see and listen into each other’s lives but unable to communicate otherwise. One day the link the inexplicably is cut off.

In ‘The Girl Who Didn’t Win’ by Kate Field, Clare has suffered her fair share of tragedy and finds herself living at home again. Just missing out on a lottery win she believes herself the unluckiest person ever until a mysterious gift of a book from the elusive Miss Moonshine leads on her on investigative trail and in the process finds life is full of second-chances not second-bests!

These only touch on three of these entertaining stories which carried me into their worlds and with each tale I forgot that I was reading a short story until I came to the end all too soon. The skill of the writers is shown as I longed to read on. I am now eager to explore the writings by these Northern writers.

Is it wrong to review an anthology when you’ve only read one story? I fully intend to go back and read the others because I am so fascinated by Miss Moonshine’s that I just have to visit again 8 more times. At least. Because rereads.

I skipped ahead to the end and read Mary Jayne Baker’s story in this anthology first as she’s the author I’m most familiar with. She’s one of my favourite authors in fact. Mary’s contribution, The Last Chapter, is so quirky and full of my own personal ideals that I couldn’t have loved it more.

‘The Last Chapter’ had all the elements I’ve come to love and expect from Mary’s stories most importantly a strong minded women and the guy who has to work for her affections.

This was a great start (end?) to this anthology and I can’t wait to read more and discover some new to me authors.
