I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Lovebookstours.

Be the Ultimate Friend of the Earth is a great book to test your knowledge on environmental factors and climate change as well as educating you at the same time. Thebook is broken down into chapters with each chapter covering a different subject matter such as waste, carbon emissions, superconsumers, oceans and biodiversity to name just a few. I loved the 'Did you know' facts scattered through the book and the diagrams to help visually explain how things work such as how the ocean works as a carbon sink and recycling. The quiz questions are fantastic and get you thinking and I definitely learned so much I didn't already know. This is a great book for children and adults alike. It would be super helpful for anyone with an interest in environmental and climate changes and to help with homework and school projects too.

This was an informative and interesting read that definitely taught me a lot about how to be kinder to the planet we live on. It's clear that a lot of research has gone into this book and I found reading about all the different species I'd never heard of before particularly fascinating.

At the end of each chapter there is a quiz to test your knowledge, then at the end of the book you can add your scores up to see whether you're a true friend of the earth or still have work to do. I for one still have work to do as I'm sure a lot of us do.

Overall this is a great book for anyone that wants to better understand what they can do to have a more positive impact on our planet.

As you can probably guess from the title, this book is an informative piece put together to teach the reader about all the ways we affect our environment, and how to act in a kinder way to our planet. It is put together with chapters that each cover a different subject, from biodiversity, to carbon emissions, to plastic waste. At the end of each one, there is also a quiz. The answers to the questions aren't found in the reading material, it's not a test based on how well you absorbed the information given. Instead, the quizzes are designed to give the reader a chance to think about related topics in a fun way, with answers given at the end. At the end of the book, there is a score sheet on which you can see how much of a friend to the earth you are, based on the total number of correct answers given.

I, for one, was very much middle of the road. I know a lot in some areas, but nothing in others and this has helped to highlight to me more ways in which I can be more respectful of the world in which we live.

Overall, I enjoyed reading the book, always a fan of a good quiz too! The writing is easy to understand, with the chapters short enough to keep interest. I did find it a little repetitive in parts; but I suppose that's the whole point - how many times do we need to be told as a species that we are facing a climate emergency before we all start to listen.

Would recommend as something different.

How green are you?

‘You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.’ Dr Jane Goodall.

Which is the world’s toughest creature? Which consumer electronic device is responsible for creating the most emissions? Test yourself on these and other questions and check how green a planet citizen you are.

This is the first green book that made me feel informed, empowered and inspired whilst being entertained at the same time. Probably the most important book I will read this year, I had the most fun I’d had with a book in ages…and I think that’s largely down to the quiz element but it’s also because of the engaging, chatty often humorous writing of the author.
The aim of the book is to inspire, educate and empower people to up their game ‘from being an indifferent, or perhaps even exploitative, citizen of the Party..to becoming a 100-per-cent committed ally.’ `This is done through 10 chapters taking different aspects - oceans, consumerism, food, trees etc. Each chapter begins with a fascinating tour of the subject - and I mean fascinating. This is all interesting and accessible and all the stuff we need to know. And the diagrams are epic! We can all understand this stuff! And then at the end of each chapter there’s 10 questions. I’ve been trying some of these out on you in my stories! There is so much I didn’t know or understand even after reading David Attenborough. The truth is that the planet crisis is changing all the time so we have to keep reading and updating ourselves.
Whilst the book makes no bones about the fact that planet Earth is in crisis and this is the fault of us humans, it is full of positivity, ideas for action and the inspiration of current initiatives. This is time to change - to look at our consumption of plastics; adopting Earth friendly diets; greatly reducing our consumerism. We can all do this. We can all make the changes our planet deserves. Grab yourself a copy of this amazing book and you will want to join in.

Thank you to Love Book Tours, Micheal O'Mara Books and Lucy Siegle for sending me a copy of this book!

How much do you know about the state of our planet and the journey we’re on to reach a more sustainable future?

This is a really informative book that I flew through, it’s divided into ten topics with a set of ten questions after each chapter to test your knowledge. I thought I was going to do so well, I scored 46/100 but all that means is that I have more to learn to become a better friend to the planet!

So, what am I going to do with all the amazing information in this book?

Well first of all, I’m writing this review to tell you to read this book!

Secondly, since reading this, I’ve installed the WWF My Footprint app and calculated my carbon footprint (10.13 tonnes) and signed up to challenges to help bring my footprint down.

I recently went on a volunteer day with work, we went Himalayan balsam bashing which was fun! Himalayan balsam is an invasive species which outcompetes native species but dies back in winter, leaving banks and riversides susceptible to erosion and that can damage fish habitats and spawning beds. We volunteered with the West Cumbria Rivers Trust, so I recommend looking at your local trusts website and seeing what events they have coming up near you that you can help with.

As Lucy says in this book, “everyone has a sphere of influence through which they can inspire people by their actions” so I hope my rambling review will inspire you to read this book and start making some eco-friendly choices!

This is certainly a book that everyone would benefit from reading especially with the state that planet is in at the present time. Everything within the book is put forward in an easy to understand way and there are quizzes to test your knowledge and to see how much you have learned!

The book is divided into 10 different chapters, each chapter focusing on a particular subject. A couple of my favourite chapters were ‘hug a tree. Marry a myconaut’ and ‘Destination transformation’.

The book also has handy little diagrams and ‘did you know’ facts throughout, my nephew loved the ‘did you know’ facts, he learnt many of them by heart and proceeded to share them with anybody who would listen, including the pets of the house!

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read packed full of information and fun facts! It would be worth reading through it a couple of times so that you can absorb all of the information and then maybe start doing your bit! I’m certainly going to be doing mine!

Five stars!

I was really interested when this book popped up on my radar.

Lucy Siegle is an expert on climate and nature issues and this book covers topics such as the importance of our forests, the role of the earth worm, plastics in our oceans and how our consumerism effects the planet as a whole to having more conscientious choices in our dietary choices.

This book is not overwhelming, it has bite sized informative chapters that are written in a fun way with the added bonus of a quiz to test our environmental knowledge.

This book is a great resource in improving your knowledge of biodiversity issues and how you can become an Earth Defender without having to travel far, you can make a difference in your own home.

♻️ Recycle
👕 Share clothing
🧺 Wash on a lower temperature
🍊 Buy plastic free products
✈️ Limit your travelling

These are just a few effective suggestions.

I would highly recommend this book 📖
It also has a fab bibliography and index at the back of the book with suggested websites to further your knowledge and even get yourself a certificate.

📚 BOOK REVIEW - Be the ultimate friend of the earth by Lucy Siegle 📚

I was gifted this book as part of a book tour with @lovebookstours.

When I say I am obsessed with earth and nature documentaries I MEAN IT!! This book is really great! It allows the reader who isn’t clued up on terminology or the way the world works to understand and comprehend what is being told. It’s nature explained in a simplified way. There is also questions to test yourself to see if you have retained the information you have read.

Honestly highly recommend for for people who just want to know more about the earth, climate change, sustainability, the rainforest crisis. This non fiction novel Delves into the impact the modern world has on our plant and provides thoughts for change and how we can sustain the earth and boost our earth friendship credentials 🍃🌏🌳🍂🌿☀️❤️

Right I will start this review off by saying that I haven't worked my way through this whole book yet but that is purely because it's not a reading book but a learning one so I have been doing bits here and there.

I will say though, that what I have done is fabulous! I love how the teaching is done in this book. The multiple choice questions help you figure the answers even if your not sure. Then the answer section, love it!! It doesn't just tell you if your right or wrong but it goes into detail for it.

There is a lot of jargon and things that I have/had no idea about but as someone who is trying to be more environmentally friendly, I think it's a brilliant learning tool for helping us understand our choices and to encourage us to make different one.

This was a really enjoyable read that I devoured really quickly. It is such an informative book - I am actually embarressed by how much I didn't know before reading this book but also really happy by what I learnt from reading it.
It is well written in a comprehensive tone and style making it accessible for everyone no matter what their previous knowledge base and it has obviously been very well researched without being condescending or in your face.
I also loved the little quizzes at the end. A great read

This is a great companion to help us to be "the ultimate friend of the earth". My daughter (age 9) and I have read this together, she says "I like that it is very informative and that it gives little quizzes to test what you've learnt. I also like that it has information about the planet and tells you almost how to fix it."
We enjoyed doing the quizzes and helping each other understand the vocabulary. It's a book we will keep revisiting and reading more.

An eye-opening and very real book that puts so much into perspective. If you've ever wanted to learn more about nature and the climate, as well as our current climate emergency, then this book is the perfect tool. The fact you can test your knowledge all the way through this book is just an added bonus! A really insightful read.

A highly informative book that everyone needs to read, written in an easy to understand format. At the end of each chapter there is a quiz to test your knowledge, then at the end of the book you can add your scores to see whether you are a true friend of the Earth or need to do some more homework.

Well written, highly researched and a book I would recommend. It's never to late to learn and help the future of your planet.

It made me feel that were so many different things that I didn't know I could do, and things I was already doing to help the environment. This is a "Must Read" for everyone.

Many thanks to Love Books Tours for my tour spot.
