Perfect Boys #3

Stubborn Boys

Rate this book
Alden has always liked a challenge, and what could be more difficult than not one, but two stubborn boys?

Five years ago the military returned me home short one leg with scars covering one side of my body. I learned to live with it, I built a new life for myself, and I found a way to love the new body I was given… there’s just one thing I can’t accept.

I have no right to want someone as vibrant and beautiful as Nolan, not when a very vital part of my anatomy doesn’t want to work anymore. What use would a man like that be to him?

Alden can’t seem to stop meddling between the two of us, and I hate to admit it, but there’s something about him that manages to fix what’s broken in me.

Has anyone else ever developed a Daddy kink after getting blown to smithereens, or is it just me?

More importantly, are the three of us going to be able to find a way to fit together?

I'm all for throuple stories, but something about this one fell flat.

MCs:

Gannon basically had a personality transplant, going from a rebellious, brooding military vet to cooperative, sweet thang.

Nolan's transformation was more believable. He questioned how the Daddy kink would fit into his life but discovered he liked being taken care of and spanked.

Alden was a good (and bland) Daddy who wanted to spoil his boys (like all the Daddy Doms in this series).

Steam level: HIGH

Epilogue: YES

Satisfaction: 3/5

With all of their faults, scars and issues, these three men were in need, and have a dynamic that works for them. We get a story with lots of sexy scenes, uninhibited, raw, intimate and with men who top and bottom, plus a double penetration (DP).
Alden, an older Daddy/Dom, can thrive with a challenge,

and that's what he gets, two stubborn men who are as needy as he is.
Gannon, ex-military, a prosthetic leg and many scars,

feels like he doesn't deserve anyone, though he is attracted to beautiful Nolan. Gannon is a corporate assistant in Alden's billion dollar investment firm.
Vibrant Nolan is an event planner, wears makeup

and is an interesting man from a super poor childhood.

We see the shifting around, who will fit where in this ménage, as we learn more about them. Gannon has ED, but everything changes when Alden's deep voice commands and the excitement resolves his issue.

Each man is lovable, if a bit insecure, but together they are a powerful triad package of fun, care, and emotions.
Loved it !
We get a one year later epilogue, which is terrific.
ENJOY !

Great steam…Okay story

Going into this book, one would've assumed that both guys would put up a better fight (i.e be the stubborn boys the title alludes to)

What we rather got is one (Gannon) practically switching personalities overnight and the other (Nolan) being a least more consistent personality-wise but also flipping so quickly I got whiplash.

Emotionally too, I didn't buy it for the three of them, in any permutation. Nolan & Gannon I kind of believed to an extent but any pairing with Alden was simply unbelievable.

This might just be me but aside from the steam, this was just...okay.

This is the third book in this series which is actually a trilogy. Be aware that it does contain spoilers if you haven't read the first two books, but all three can still fairly easily be read as standalones.

Nolan is a party planner and Gannon's friend, who is an assistant to the three billionaires that we met in the previous two books. Two of the Daddies- Barrett and Kiernan, have already settled down with their boys, Sterling and Emerson (who also happen to be friends). Friendly bunch here, in more ways than one:) Alden, the third man, has had a lot of trouble finding what he needs...so much so that he has stopped even really looking. He wants a boy that likes to be punished, but it hasn’t worked out so far...but he has his eye on Gannon. The fact that Gannon is an employee makes him wonder if he even should approach him. Nolan has wanted to more than Gannon's friend for some time now. He finally decides to go for it, but Gannon backs off. It's not that he doesn't want Nolan, it's that he has some other issues. Alden is very observant and decides he’s going to try and help and maybe he just might be able to help himself as well...so he definitely going to give it a shot.

"Daddy/boy kink" is becoming more and more popular in M/M Romance books...it's fairly simple...no whips or chains...and the characters are almost always cute and sweet, usually with blinky's, stuffies and sippy cups. about as vanilla as you can get. K.M. Neuhold is an author I would never hesitate to buy or read no matter what the genre or the series is. Her characters are always complex and interesting and always manage to find their way to “Happily Ever After's”.

These three guys could not be more different, everything from their backgrounds, their personalities, to their life experiences, but they absolutely fit together. It's a poly story that is believable. The relationship builds without the jealousy that can sometimes be such drama in these stories. Each man is able to help the other two in their own way – plus it’s a relationship of equals. I wish that my favorite authors, could write more than three books in a series...but I know there will be more from this author as well as my other favorites that can't write past three:) I guess there is something to "the more the merrier." Something to look forward to.

I had really high hopes for this book but unfortunately it didn't quite meet them. Not to say that this book is bad or that I didn't enjoy it, I just had some major issues with The way one of our MC's biggest struggles was dealt with

This book is a poly romance with some daddy kink. It revolves around Gannon and Nolan and Alden. Gannon and Nolan have been best friends for ages and both have feelings for each other but haven't ever acted on them. Nolan hasn't acted out of anxiety and Gannon hasn't acted because he feels he's not worthy of Nolan.

Here's where I have an issue. Gannon is a military veteran and he was injured in combat resulting in him losing his leg and having a lot of scarring. It also resulted in him having erectile dysfunction. Now I feel like we need to talk about the fact that sex is fine and great if everyone wants it but we need to get away from this universal language of sex being the be all end all of all relationships. Gannon talks a lot about how his dick is broken and how no one would ever want to have a relationship with him if he can't get hard etc. If this rhetoric was challenged at some point, I would feel a little bit better. It is challenged a little bit but all of a sudden his ED is fine once he figures out daddy kink. Which totally could be realistic, I have no idea. But I almost would have liked there to be one of the sex scenes where Gannon couldn't get an erection and see how both Nolan and Alden would have handled that. There's a brief moment when Nolan first learns about it where he talks about how sex is in everything etc and that was great, but then it kind of just stopped. I needed more of that kind of conversation.

I also feel like this book just went so fast. For having characters who were new to Daddy /boy kink and having a lot of complicated conversations regarding being in a poly relationship, you would think that they would have been more time talking and less time fucking.

I get that all these characters already knew each other but they didn't KNOW know each other and for them to jump into such an intense style of relationship felt really unrealistic and just not quite the same as it was handled in the other two books.

Again, this book is fine but it would have been better had it had some more realistic elements of conversation instead of this super romanticized idea of how easy a poly relationship would be without even delving into self-esteem issues and having a disability etc.

I teased myself all week with this book, being good and reading my ARC's in order and I finally got to start Stubborn Boys before I went to work yesterday. Normally my Thursday evenings are quiet (I am the evening admin for a private rec center) and I get a chance to read... not last night of course ... my daytime counterpart left me enough data entry to fill my entire shift... and by the time I came home I had a monster migraine... so I got up early this morning to devour it...

This book is super sweet and oh so sexy! Kyleen never disappoints in the heat department. I also super love that this book depicts a polyamorous relationship. These three men Alden, Nolan and Gannon, go so well together. Alden is a perfect Daddy and I love the unexpected submission from both of his boys. This book goes beautifully with the other two books in the series and I loved it.

OMG!! This is one of those books that once you start reading, you don't want to put it down. Of course, what am I saying? All of K.M. Neuhold's books are that way for me. Stubborn Boys is the third book in the Perfect Boys series and as I told Ms. Neuhold, I believe it was my favorite. I think sometimes authors can really mess up when writing a poly relationship in a book, this book though was definitely done right. As always in her books, the thought she put into this book from the MCs to the supporting characters from past books to the story itself, every part of it was well thought out and beautifully written.

The relationship between Gannon and Nolan started as a friendship. They've been in love with each other for years but never told each other because they were scared of the reaction of the other. When Nolan tries to kiss Gannon at a fundraiser, Gannon runs away. He doesn't think he's good enough for Nolan because he has some issues in the bedroom he doesn't know he can get through. When Alden steps into help, Gannon realizes when Alden is in Daddy mode he likes it a little too much, especially when his body reacts to it. After they do a scene together, everything starts to change between the three of them. Nolan and Gannon know they are in love, but they also realize they care deeply for Alden as well. So begins the beginning of a beautiful Daddy/Subs relationship, as long as Nolan doesn't let his pride get in the way of their happiness. It was so sweet when Gannon realizes he wants Alden to be his Daddy and when Nolan realizes he needs Alden to be his Daddy too, I cannot say enough of the feels I got from that.

Their love is genuine and the chemistry they share is just so much more than a lot of poly relationships in books. Thank you for writing this story. It definitely makes me sad to see this series come to an end. All of the men in this series are so special and I can't wait to see what you write next.

I received a copy of this ARC from the author for my honest review.

I loved Nolan, Gannon and Alden’s story! It was sweet with some incredibly hot sexy times! I enjoyed this different take on the Daddy/boy dynamic with a Daddy and two boys. I was so invested in seeing their relationship grow and unfold, and how their dynamic would play out. I liked Alden’s patience with both Gannon and Nolan as they each came around to what they wanted out of the relationship. I loved the independence that Nolan and Gannon each had, and that Alden didn’t stifle that independence, but rather embraced and celebrated it. I feel like their chemistry and connection really developed throughout the book. I loved the communication they had throughout, checking in with each other to make sure what was evolving was working for each. Their relationship came across with so much love and respect for each other. I mentioned those sexy times…holy hotness Kyleen really outdid herself with this one! I fanned myself at points! If you’ve been enjoying this series like I have, their story is not to be missed!

I've been so excited for STUBBORN BOYS because I've been dying to see how K.M. Neuhold would make this relationship work and I was not disappointed. Daddy Dom Alden has been developing feelings for his assistant, Gannon, but he can clearly see how much best friends Gannon and Nolan are secretly in love with each other. When Alden decides to help the two of them get together he never expects he'd be invited into their relationship and that he could finally have the boys he's always wanted.

I loved how emotionally gentle STUBBORN BOYS was, there's so much care between these three men and I adored watching them navigate their feelings and their changing relationship. Especially when it came to Nolan and Alden supporting Gannon through his ED and making it clear that he was loved for exactly who he was. Neuhold always puts so much heart into her books and it's like catnip for me.

Of the three, Nolan was probably my favorite character, he's confident, generous with his love, feisty, and a bit of a perfectionist. It's no surprise that Gannon has secretly loved him for years. Ex-military, tattooed, and gruff, Gannon had no idea he'd be into Daddy kink until he experienced Alden's Daddy persona first hand. Now Gannon has to come to terms with his feelings for Nolan and his sexual attraction to Alden. As a philanthropist billionaire, Alden has lived a privileged life but finding a boy of his own to share it with has been a struggle. I wouldn't say that Alden's personality is super defined but what is clear, is that he's generous with his money and time, he loves deeply, and he likes to be in control. The chemistry between the three was off the charts and I loved watching them fall in love.

Content Warning: on page erectile dysfunction and feelings of inadequacy because of it

Stubborn Boys is the third book in K.M. Neuhold’s Perfect Boys series. All of the characters show up in earlier books (and those MCs show up here), as the three Daddies are best friends and business partners and their boys are friendly as well. This book assumes some familiarity with the relationships and a bit of backstory that new readers may be missing, but I think this could work on its own.

This story is sweet and easy, for all that these guys need to just relax and open up to each other. Nolan and Gannon are both into each other, but afraid to admit it. Alden is hot for Gannon, but worries he isn’t interested. And no one is quite sure if either Nolan or Gannon are interested in Daddy/boy dynamics. But for all that, it is mostly a matter of getting these guys to talk and share their feelings, and then giving them time to explore things together.

The perfect boys for the perfect Daddy!

I have previously enjoyed the first two books in this series, and I was looking forward to this one coming out. I knew that I'd enjoy it, but I had no idea how incredible it would be!

We have met all three characters before, and so we thought we knew them a little, but we didn't know them at all! After only seeing the facades of these characters for two books, it was exhilarating to suddenly jump into their POV and see what's really been going on for them. I melted into a puddle of goo when Gannon called Nolan his best friend (in chapter one) and never recovered! I was prepared for Alden and Gannon to be complex characters, but Nolan brings his own depth and history, and is not all sweetness and light as he has previously appeared.

I have read a few MMM books before, and I have really struggled to feel that all partners were equally involved and connected in the relationship. This is the first time that I have really believed in a polyamorous relationship, and the communication, selflessness and effort it takes to make such a relationship work. Kyleen took the time to explore all three strands of the relationship, rather than just throwing them all into bed together and hoping for a HEA.

Don't get me wrong, the sex is HOT! Oh my, every scene with these three is on fire, but let's just say I loved the inappropriate workplace behaviour in this book! There are lots and lots of very sweet moments too, I'm not sure I'll ever get over Alden and the shirt. In fact I just loved Alden as a Daddy, and this was such a lovely demonstration of what makes someone a Daddy. Alden is completely focused on meeting the needs of his boys, and gets satisfaction from doing so. I loved seeing that Alden was as vulnerable to Gannon and Nolan as they were to him.

We do see the previous two couples, but there is less of a group dynamic than in the earlier books, and more of an intense focus on the three main characters. I loved that towards the end they start to emerge from their cocoon, and vaguely wonder when they last saw the others.

My favourite quote actually comes from Emerson: "Once a Daddy has a nickname for you, it's o-over." Happily, he was absolutely correct.

My Pet, My Treasure, My Love!

Alden, Gannon, and Nolan have been dancing around each other since the first book, we finally get their story. I enjoyed getting to know more about Gannon and I liked that Nolan was understanding of Gannon’s issues. I also felt the connection more between Gan and No, than with Alden. Although, I was expecting a little more resistance from Gannon to a triad relationship. Finally, this is a tale more of lusty sexy bits than romance. I preferred more romance. Overall, a sexy read.

Unfortunately this book didn’t work for me. It felt forced. I feel like Gan and Nolan were well paired and Gan and Alden. But Nolan and Alden just didn’t seem to fit. It felt like Nolan was being pushed into a box so we could get a thruple in the end, but Gan should have just dated them both separately.

Rounded up from 4.5

The third of the Perfect Boys series is, in my opinion, the best yet. They're all sweet and sexy, but I love the sass of Stubborn Boys, and it works well as a MMM. It could be read as a standalone, or read before the other two books, though characters from the first two appear prominently in this one and there may be some spoilerish parts if you plan to go back and read the first two.

I loved Alden's brand of Daddy kink. Gannon the Cannon (my mnemonic to keep from confusing the ex-military character with the others) and Nolan fit each other and him perfectly. What does it say about me that I prefer the brats? I dunno, I just do.

The story is filled with KM Neuhold's signature hot sex, and there's very little angst or conflict, which is actually why I deducted half a star, because I wanted a bit more in that area, but if you're looking for a hot Daddy who bonds quickly and easily with his bratty, stubborn boys, you'll want to read Stubborn Boys!

A delightful end

What a great wrap up to this series. Each book has been so incredibly sweet and Stubborn Boys was no exception. I loved how Gannon, Nolan and Alden came together. There was such a beauty to it.

Alden always seemed like this man removed from what was going on around him. Who knew he had such a depth of emotion lurking beneath the surface. Gannon had been through so much already with his military career. I felt like he needed all the love. Nolan was sweet and sassy and I loved that he was willing to take a risk and expose his emotions to Gannon.

These three had the perfect balance is sweet and sexy together. Gannon’s issues were handled splendidly and with compassion and understanding. I’m sad to see this series end, but I am so happy with the ending we got.

Meant to be

Whoo boy—or should I say boys?—am I in love. I’ve wanted this book since the masquerade and let me tell you, it’s so amazingly swoony, you’ll melt for Gannon, Nolan and Alden. Gah! I love them so much. I also knew these three would be hot, but I had no idea the way they’d make me burn. I mean, if they can make the simple act of drinking a glass of water sexy… You may need to turn on the AC while you read, even in a blizzard.

“You’re my perfect boys exactly the way you are.” I think I had hearts in my eyes the entire time I read this book. From watching Gannon and Nolan become more than friends to seeing how Alden breaks through with both Gannon and Nolan, albeit in very different but no less impactful ways, then to experiencing them navigating their way in their new dynamic, it’s truly beautiful and made my heart flutter with happiness. Pair all of the hit-you-in-the-feels swoony goodness with inferno heat levels, and you won’t want to put this amazing book down.

Loved This!

I have been waiting for Alden, Gannon and Nolan's story and it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed this. This is not the first MMM by this author and she really writes this type of story so well. Also Alden is a Daddy, both Gannon and Nolan aren't boys, at least they don't think they are, so in addition to them coming together in a polyamorous relationship, they also have to figure out if they want a daddy.
There was so much going on in this story and I think it all came together perfectly!
The connection between all 3 men, both together and separately, is so strong.  The reader is right there with them as they navigate this dynamic and determine how it works best for them. I was really able to see and understand how this made sense and how they all came together, both as a three-some and with Alden as their Daddy. I loved the open and honest conversations they had, together and also separately.
And while they were all trying to figure out how everything will work, they had some smoking hot scenes together!  The heat level was VERY HIGH in this book and it was fabulous! Each scene was perfect to move their relationship forward and also fog my kindle screen and my glasses, whew!
We also got some brief visits with all if the daddies and their boys from the first books. I really enjoyed this all the way around!

Gannon had intrigued me in the previous books. I'm glad Alden decided to take on that challenge. These guys were all a little unsure of themselves at first...nobody wanting to make the first move or divulge their feelings.
For all of Alden's confidence, he still came off as vulnerable with his heart. I loved how the relationship between Gannon and Nolan went from friends to more. Very sweet.
The size difference between daddy and boys was nice and the sex was off the charts hawt.

Gannon and Nolan have danced around each other for a long time. It takes adding Alden to the mix to find their perfect relationship.

Some angst, some daddy kink, and a lot of love made this a special book. I liked Alden’s restraint when it came to claiming his boys. Gannon’s issues were handled thoughtfully and with care.

The other characters from previous books were present in this one. I think this could be read as a stand-alone but why deprive yourself of the other stories.

I received an arc of this book.

K.M. Neuhold never ceases to surprise me. Alden was the perfect daddy for his two stubborn boys.

When I first started this book I wasn't entirely sure on how the story was going to go but I have to say that I loved the road she took them down. Gannon had been through so much losing his leg that all he wanted was to relinquish control to someone and that was Alden. For Nolan it was a bit different because while he wanted to let go of his inhibitions for Alden it was hard to trust someone that completely when he had only ever relied on himself.

Stubborn Boys unlike other books that I have read that have this similar story took a different take on their relationships. We got to see the relationship grow between all of them separately and not just with the three of them together. That really intensified this story for me because I got to fall in love with them slowly and then entirely.

Not bad...

There were parts that were absolutely wonderful and parts that were just meh. There was no angst in this one and the only real "problem" could have been solved in the second chapter if only they had talked.

The sex was hot in this mmm Daddy tale and I was glad to see that it wasn't just a triad, each couple had a real relationship with each other as well.

The one thing that annoyed me was that Gannon had ed but was still able to perform. It would have been more realistic to at least have him not be able to perform yet still be a part of the sexytimes.

One more thing, y'all might have heard of the magical wingdinger, this book had a magical Daddy voice. One Dad tone and it was instant hardness.

Bratty boys are the best

Stubborn Boys (Pretty Boys, Book 3) was the perfect end to this series, which is one of my all-time favorites. All the books can be read as a standalone, but characters from previous books do pop in for cameos. This story revolves around three MC’s, previously met briefly in the prior books. I was really happy to see all of them get their own book, as I was curious what their backstories were.

Gannon, ex-military, turned awesome personal assistant, is in love with his best friend, Nolan. Because of personal issues, Gannon thinks there is no future for them, so he keeps Nolan securely in the “friend zone” box, even though he wants so much more.

Nolan, party planner extraordinaire, is in love with Gannon. He’s not happy with them being just friends, and decides to finally get his nerve up to make his move. When he does, it doesn’t go well, and is witnessed by a ballroom full of people.

Alden is a rich daddy without a boy, and he’s lonely. His two best friends have each settled down with sweet boys of their own, to domestic bliss, and Alden is a little jealous. Though he doesn’t want a sweet boy like his friends have. No, he wants the sassy, bratty boys. The more fire in them, the better. He wants Gannon. He pushes all of Gannon’s buttons, just to see a glimpse of the fierceness in his eyes.

Neither Gannon nor Nolan are looking for Daddies. But when Alden uses his Daddy voice on Gannon, it hits Gannon in an unexpected way. And when Alden steps in to help Nolan get his man, he finds himself falling for not one, but two boys, who despite their protests, are in need of a strong Daddy.

I loved the journey of these three very different men, finding exactly what they needed in each other. Ms. Neuhold always delivers on storyline, laughs and kink, and this book had it in spades. These three were HAWT together!! I also loved the communication between them, either between just two of them, or the three of them together. Kink is not a one size fits all thing, and the talks these MC’s had with each other, as they explored a new kink for two of them, were spot on. The laughs were also plenty. Nolan bratty meltdown led to an epic showdown in Alden’s office, and let’s just say make sure you have a cold drink near you when reading. You’re going to need it!

The only negative I have to say is that this series is coming to an end.

At first, the arrows of love were shooting in every direction and missing their intended targets. Alden, Gannon, and Nolan were pining, lovesick fools for someone they didn’t think returned the sentiment or deserved it. Gah! That was so emotional. Gannon pushed his pain away and numbed himself and Nolan just didn’t react to it, pretty much shutting down all processes in his body. Such SPOT ON descriptions of mental health episodes.

And Daddy Alden saw it all. Stoic, observant, and sugary sweet under his gruff demeanor, this man saw the boys struggling and decided to meddle. Y’all, what Alden can do for Gannon is HOT AF. If you read this one, you’ll know what I mean. 🥵 Patience really is a virtue. Such a unique and beautiful twist! And he was completely enamored with first Gannon and then Nolan.

It’s also so well developed how the boys start seeing Alden for who he is and not what they assume. Like, SO ROMANTIC. K.M. Neuhold has an uncanny ability of writing some of the sweetest romances with the hottest couples. It’s all in the details, y’all. And the steam was incredible. But for me, it was the tender and steadfast romance between three lonely men.

My heart is so full and happy after finishing this series. And the paperbacks are GORGEOUS. 😍
