There was a part of me that wanted to enjoy this book. That's all I can say. I just wasn't into it. My issues with the book outweighed my liking of some parts (the main plot, Noah's bullying and alpha maleness). In my opinion, the writing in third person took so much away from conveying the story in the way the author intended.

Despite the plot twist being the main concern I had with the novel, I have some problems with the writing. Noah's psychopathic turn in the book upsets me. The situation is like he was fabricated with a few helpers into being a monster with no sensible reasoning for how he came to be this way.

Yes, Noah truly represents what is toxic about society, and yes, I completely understand why there are people like this. But his method of doing the things he did doesn't quite coordinate with the pacing of the book. A sufficient amount of time didn't allow for the development of Noah's character and his actions. Noah did some really bad things to Sunny, and you went from being annoyed to feeling repulsed towards him for that.

Sunny was flat, monotonous, repetitive, and inconsequential at the same time.

While the book's premise was intriguing, its lack of forward momentum and clear, concise plot left it unsatisfying to read.

This book contains graphic descriptions of jealousy, gaslighting, emotional abuse, kidnapping, attempted murder, and sexual assault.

There was nothing remarkable about it. It was a disappointing book with bland characters and poor writing.

I would not recommend it to readers looking for a masterfully written and engaging story.

When "I love you" takes a whole new meaning.

Imagine not love at first sight, but obsession and having the means to coerce your obsessive dreams into reality. From childhood friends to a switch lit at age 16, Sunshine, or Sunny, becomes the object of Noah's unwavering and volatile attraction, his soul mate and calling. Lending resources to keeping her in his watch, holding her mother at bay -- even from a long distance -- until he decides to strike, tired of waiting, this is the tale of Noah and Sunshine, Noah's Sunshine.

Written in third person (not a fan) and visualized from multiple points of view, this story contained all the possessive -- actually obsessive -- qualities you want in an over-the-top, unhinged hero. Noah was quite literally one of the most consumed characters I've come across, who does not understand the word 'no,' let around accept it as an answer. This story, therefore, contains dark themes though it's not a dark book to me, a heft amount of intrigue, as well as a couple of subplots. (Can't wait for the next book.)

Key characters were Sunny and Noah; Sunny's feisty and protective mother, Denise; Denise's potential suitor and father figure to Sunny; Noah's (nutty) parents; a set of deranged cousins; Sunny's close friend (look out book 2); and a certifiable villain. A lot of upheaval, and the main characters were the spotlight in this, dare I call it, unbalanced fun? Sunny was fierce when she wasn't succumbing to Noah's strong personality and demands, and Noah was an unrelenting, sexy force. The side characters were integral to this fun and crazy plot line.

Get your steam, kink, and dubious fanciful consent right here. And there could be nothing but an abundance of tantalizing dark thrills in this fast-paced obsessive, entrapment laced with suspense.

Highly entertaining, I could not put the book down but so woefully plagued by grammatical and typographical errors. Please, Shea, get an editor.

A story of crazy, obsessive love, so obsessive as to emulate a wonderfully-received caricature of jealous-possessive romance. Pure enjoyment.

This book was so much more than I thought it would be. It’s told in multiple pov’s, but the main two are Sunny and Noah.

Sunny’s grandmother works for Noah’s family, and one day Sunny comes with her to work and meets Noah. They become childhood friends.

Noah’s family has what could be considered a curse- when the men meet the love of their lives, they go a crazy with possession and jealousy. This has caused the men to react in abusive ways to force their partner to commit to them. Noah is no different and the things he does to Sunny don’t help the relationship much because Sunny is not your average weak heroine.

This book ends in an HEA, but it takes some time to get there. The multiple pov’s give the reader a clear view of what our characters are going through and thinking. This was an interesting story, I enjoyed it so much that I’d be willing to purchase it in paperback form, if it were available. The only negative that I have is that the editor seemed to have done the author dirty on this one. There are grammatical errors throughout. But if you can overlook that, then you’d find an interesting story.

Would definitely read the next book in the series, once it’s available.

There was no romance!!!!!!!!!!.. I wasn't turned off by the fanaticism... it simply lacked romance... Nikki slater's silence trilogy was written with a similar trope and Shantel Davis is renowned for her fanatic voice....but they get to keep that romantic element realllllll tight, one could touch it.... so it's a meh for me bcuz of the lack of romance....sighhhhhhh

OH WHAT A READ!!!

If you're looking for suspense and a thrilling read then you have to check out this book. This book goes beyond obsession how someone doesn't like getting his way. Who said love at first sight is all wrapped up in rainbows and fairytales. This story revolves around Sunny and Noah who are childhood friends that were close until one faithful day when Noah came back from college. After that event Sunny definitely had her work cut out for her and trying to maintain a semblance of peace. Sunny has to find the strength within her to survive the craziness of the Urich family curse. If you like dark romances definitely give this book a try you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!!!

Stockholm Syndrome Trope (Whisky Tango Foxtrot)

This book is a hot-mess. Trope used... Wealthy white man enslaves black girl preventing her from completing her education and achieving financial independence...

If this is supposed to be some "romance" it will take several books to unpack the insanity of the male MC and repair the dysfunctional "relationship" he has with the female MC.

This story is atrocious.

Predator

I hated this book with a passion. I hated Noah, his father, his mother and most of all I hated Sunshine. I knew her b!t©h ass would fall in love with Noah crazy, obsessive, possessive ass. Check this, this f'king book was long as all get out, it's a two-part. As a matter of fact, I hated Noah's whole family. They force people to "love" them, not knowing it's pretend. This book is all kinds of anger inducer. Be warned this thousand paged book is long drawn out and stupid at times. It may take you three to four days to read this junk. You have to put it down and go back to it. Tiring. I guess you had a lot to say during the pandemic, you didn't want to edit anything out. Two-part? Funny😂.

Entertaining but full of editing issues.

I think this author has potential. A good editor is needed though. This story gets hopping with the crazy right out the gate, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the characters were hard to visualize due to the vague descriptions. There was also an issue with understanding who was talking due to editing issues. This book would have been stronger if told from a first person perspective. With that said, I still give 3 stars because I’m interested in what happens next. Like I said, with time, I think this author can churn out good books.

What did I just read?

I love a good dubcon and dark read. But this wasn’t really dark, it was ridiculous and cartoonish. I am not entirely sure how to describe my feelings. The characters were flat, annoying and one dimensional. The flow was all over the place, it seemed like the book should have ended in 3 different places.
The storyline was scattered as well. It seemed like the author had several ideas and tried to shove it in one book while not really ironing out any detail or thought. Disappointed.

Just Awful

Spoiler Alert

This story was overflowing with a lot of revolting triggers with absolutely no warning from the author. The following felonies were committed by Noah and encouraged by his family members because he "loved" Sunny and was going to possess her, no matter what, including her wishes. So here we go- rape, physical abuse, mental and emotional abuse, torture, etc. Oh, and by the way, because Noah and his family are wealthy, they bribe and corrupt their way through the U.S. and other countries.

The so-called family curse, the excuse being used, is that the Urich men suddenly can't control their twisted obsessions when they find the ones they believe are destined to be their significant others. This was not a romance, it was a horror story. It took Noah until 90% of the book to realize that you don't rape and torture people you're supposed to love, and that Sunny had a say in how she lived her life. As long as Noah got what he wanted from Sunny, everything was right in his world, whether she accepted him or not. But of course she forgave Noah and they have their HEA!

Not only was this book a sad, sick mess, but the errors were off the charts. Lots of misused words, incorrect use of apostrophes and quotation marks, incorrect genders, etc. For instance, using he instead of she and vice versa, brought/bought, hear/here, except/accept, and many, many more. I finished the entire book to see how the author would reconcile the atrocities Noah visited on Sunny, and how he intended to make amends, but his last minute awakening was not very believable. Tragic.

Absolutely Crazy

Generational Craziness, Obsessiveness, tortured behaviors.
I have read dark romance before but this was the craziest book ever, and I went through every emotion possible.
Love, Stockholm syndrome, mind bending terror tactics so deprived the CIA could probably learn a thing or two.
I can’t even gather my own thoughts right now, I loved, hated, screamed and cursed and I can’t help but wonder if I’m sure there was a happy outcome for everyone. Are there lingering triggers? No one had an ounce of therapy, how do you just work through all of this physical and mental torture?
This is why I love books like these, believe me I have a fear of spiders and I was damn near triggered, and I caught myself trying to skip over those parts, however I had to get the complete picture and read through. I had to see how anyone made it to a HEA, and how they did it.
I was so mesmerized by this family’s dysfunctions, I couldn’t fathom any redemption, but as far as the story goes there was. Somehow it fit for them and I still am working through all the trauma.

Crazy with a capital C

The only character who was not crazy, devious or obsessed by money and control was Denise. She was a mama bear who would protect her cub at all cost. Glad Noah came into the light even though it took awhile. If an author can make the readers dislike the intended characters, then that author has done a good job. Interesting storyline. As others have noted, a good editor is desperately needed.

3.75 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Unlimited e-book. Obsession. Kidnapping. Mental instability. Frenemies to lovers. Hero, Noah Urich, wealthy businessman of international corporation operating from Germany. Sunshine "Sunny" Jackson, financially challenged college student. Noah and Sunny met when Sunny's grandmother, the Urick family housekeeper, brought Sunny to work one day. Although Noah was ten and Sunny was five, they became fast friends and Noah taught her to swim and bike ride and he protected her from his unkind cousins. When Sunny's grandmother died, Noah came to the funeral at the time Sunny is 16 and Noah is twenty-one; also at this time, Noah realizes he loves Sunny and concludes she is his and they are destined to become man and wife. While she is out running in shorts and a cropped shirt, he grabs her, chocks her and admonishes her for her skimpy inappropriate attire, he also decides to leave her alone until she is of age and with that he returns to Germany to earn another degree and get involved in the family business. After Sunny graduates high school, she and her mother move to Oklahoma to get out of the Urick's control. When Noah is advised of Sunny getting involved with a male college mates, Noah's plan to allow Sunny to graduate college before making her his wife changes and he abducts Sunny and takes her back to Germany with him. At this point, Sunny is 21 and Noah is 26. Sunny is as resistive of Noah's plans for their lives together as he is insistent. All sorts of drama ensues with the in-laws on both sides...his parents are controlling and have some psychosis issues, her mother is also controlling without the means to do more than cuss and fight. Noah's cousin also took Sunny's co-worker so I look forward to that story.

Too GOOD to read…you’ll binge read and ignore your other priorities

This story was SO good, considering my love for dark romance. If you’re not into dark themes, then you probably won’t enjoy this, but since I am, it was great. They were so many shocking and scary scenes. Omg! *I smile, just thinking about it. Anyway, I came across the first two chapters on Wattpad thinking it was a short story, but to my dismay, I found out it was full-length novel. Even though I trying to saving money. 😭 The story was too good, I had to…no. I needed to know what happened next. 😔 So, I paid for it right away for kindle and binge read the story. Maybe not the best financial decision since I’m trying to save money, but it was definitely worth the investment because even though there are a lot of dark themes, my mental and emotional health feels so much better. Why? Because reading a good book that makes me sad, happy, shocked, angry, and excited…just makes my life more happy, enriched, and just better overall. Thank you author, for having an idea and finishing it through for readers like me to read your book. 💛💅 Pur, you did that!

WARNING: This book covers topics such as domestic violence, spousal rape, sexual assault, kidnapping, sibling death, murder, and severe mental health disorders. If those topics are triggers for you, I would not suggest you read this book.

The title should be "CAPTURED" instead of WANT. Noah was the definition of entitled. He took his sense of entitlement to a new level when it came to Sunshine. He did things to Sunshine that shouldn't be done to another human being. Noah was a man of means and it showed.
Sunshine didn't give up easily. I liked that about her. Despite what Noah did, she still had something smart to say.
Overall, it was a pretty interesting read. It was my first book by this other. If the next book is about Casey, I will read it. There were some editing errors that I saw but it did not take away from the story. This story takes the reader to some pretty dark places. I even wondered if I wanted to continue reading it because of some of the topics.
Yall know me! I had to finish it.
Happy Reading!

This is a good story- twisted, dark, unbelievable and really messed up but the actual story is good and one that I could not put down and trust me I wanted to because the material and the actions of the male lead and those surrounding him were perverse and beyond criminal. This book could be extremely triggering for anybody who has escaped a bad or abusive relationship and plays on what most women fear the most, but I tried to separate the two in my review and say this in my opinion is in no way even close to a romance, but it is a dark or obsessional thriller. If you can reconcile yourself to that you can read it and say it is well written and kind move on from there. I was really disturbed but again-I could not put it down so that is where I leave it-I am not a fan of the violence and abuse but I respect that the writer gave you a powerful story concerning a whole bunch of broken and psychotic people and gave you a scary look into their world, justifications and how they reconcile their actions with the fact that they are monsters.

save the want

This book was…interesting. I can honestly say I will not be picking up the second installment, mainly because of the way this one unfolded.

Let’s start with the positives: Denise was my girl, and the only other highlight was when I finally deleted the book. Beyond that, the story was frustrating to get through. I’m not sure what kind of Stockholm syndrome angle the author was aiming for, but it didn’t land.

I truly felt sorry for Sunny. The author intentionally put her through hell, over and over again, to the point where it felt excessive rather than purposeful. Many times, I wanted to write Shae Evans directly just to cuss her out that is how angry I was at what the character was forced to endure.

Nothing about this story made me want to continue, and that’s why I know I won’t read the sequel—especially with its setup of one woman and two men. Some things simply don’t sit right, and this book crossed that line for me. There are certain themes that, in my opinion, don’t belong in literature, and Want was one of them.

What the hell did I just read?

**SPOILERS**
I’m still not entirely sure what the in the hell I just read? I’m all for a dark romance with some twisted and triggering themes. But this? This was just a lot more than I anticipated; also I want to point out this book is a roller coaster that literally never stops making loops.

You’re given hints of another characters story which don’t really flow with the story, actual abuse (a lot of it), kidnapping and to top it off rape (also a lot of it). You start reading this book just wanting to see how this mess even ends … read at your own risk because this book seriously has its f*cked up moments.

I gave it two stars because no matter how insanely ridiculous this book was … I still read all of it and I couldn’t stop. So there’s my opinion on this book, not for the faint of heart (and if you are attracted to literally any of the men in this story sis seek some help)

I Enjoyed it

Touchy subject matter but I personally enjoyed the story. I've read the reviews and yes I agree that hitting or choking someone is abhorrent but I also under that this happens in real life. Sad, but it would be even sadder to whitewash someone's truth, even a fictional character because YOU the reader can't handle the situation or find it offensive.

That being said, I believe that the secondary character, the heroine's mother, Densise needs her own story. She had me LOL to many times to count. Although the heroine cried about everything, she is young so I found it acceptable. The Hero, Noah showed redeeming qualities so no complaints there.

The book needs an editor and if she paid one then the author needs to get her money back. I can usually overlook minor errors but sometimes, the sentence structure of what I was reading gave me a headache from trying to figure out what the author meant to say.

I kept hoping that things would get better but... the spelling mistakes and grammatical errors were just so distracting from a story that was completely horrific. I felt like this author was trying to justify mixed race relationships and her conclusion is that Black American women are basically weak minded, money grabbing whores that are physically beautiful but loving and forgiving due to their naivety, while White German men are brutal, smart, crafty, evil but sex starved people who will stop at nothing to feed their privilege. In the end the victim of multiple rapes, physical and mental abuse, actually helps to repair her rapist and torturer by loving him, and loving the baby he forced her to have. I finished reading this book and will read the sequel because my curiosity surpasses my disgust....which I guess is not a good thing but whatever, it is what it is.

I love a Dark romance

Some of yall are so sensitive, if something isn't to your taste that's fine but the story in itself was great, im happy sunny stayed strong regardless of what she endured. I just wish Noah got some harsher karma as well as his awakening.. And i feel michael needed some torture, the abuse was a little much but it didn't turn me away from the story. Its simply a dark romance and i loved it.. Her mom deserves the best mom award cause she never stopped looking for her baby.. Noah's parent lost cause and crazy.. Besides tht i loved this story.. The Grammical errors weren't 2 bad but a little distracting but besides that a great entertaining read..but def need trigger warnings for the softies cause its alot for those simply looking for a sweet romance

omg

By far one of the worst books I’ve read. I happen to read this during f&*?ing black history month. It reminds me of when 50 shades became mainstream. People said” think about the fact that if he wasn’t rich and white he would be in jail” This whole book should go to the pits of the seven circles of hell. He was was an abusive d bag. She should have offed him for what he did to her. This is not a dark romance because not a single thing is romantic about this. As a black women i find this completely disturbing. I don’t know anything about the author but they have made me not want to read interracial books anymore(this is like the 3rd one I’ve read this week) and I will not be reading anything else from this author. So disappointing.

Obsessive Love With A Side Of Crazy!

"Want" is a combination of obsession, stalkerish-ness (is that even a word?), a dash of love and a whole lot of crazy! I really loved this story! Noah had known Sunshine since she was five years old and he was ten. They were best friends and Noah was very protective of her. That all changed years later when Noah came from college for the summer and saw that his "Sunny" was all grown up and dressed inappropriately in revealing clothing (in his eyes) and he went nuts! In Noah's defense, I think it was hereditary, if that's any consolation. Ironically, Sunny isn't the only person in this tale who had a crazed, obsessed stalker...

This was dark!

I do like to read a dark storyline every now and then and I’ve read a few. I can’t say I enjoyed this book there was a day or 2 where I couldn’t read it after Sunshine got kidnapped again by Michael. However I had to know how the story ended. I knew they would have their HEA but I’m glad the author didn’t make it seem that all the abuse was forgiven and forgotten. I do plan to read more! I loved me some Denise she didn’t play around and I hope she finds herself her own love.

I’m interested to see what happens with Casey. The Urich family needs some long term therapy. Every last one of them! But it was good to see the transformation between the couple.
