Dare to Dive Into the Depths of This Provocative New Thriller

1937. Two Gestapo agents arrive in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, to assume control of a secret German naval operation. They successfully blend into the small village, going virtually unnoticed. 1989. Gordon, a CIA agent stationed in Israel, meets Mona, an American woman finishing her tour of duty in the Israeli Defense Forces. They begin a short and torrid relationship that ends poorly. An assignment from a mysterious man brings Mona back to the United States to learn about some decades-old bones recently uncovered on the shore of Lake Ronkonkoma. Mona is surprised to cross paths with Gordon, who is now covertly operating with the FBI and is assisting in their investigation of the “remains case” at the lake. They begin to untangle mysteries, starting with what the German Navy was secretly constructing at the lake in 1937. As they investigate, they discover disturbing evidence of a conspiracy begun several years before the United States entered World War II. Corruption within the Vatican, Gestapo agents still active on American soil, and several murders complicate matters for Mona and Gordon. As they put the pieces together, they learn that an encrypted message has been sent to an unknown recipient by an outmoded, yet operational German Enigma Machine. The Terminal Call has been made. Will the havoc that ensues result in a catastrophic conclusion? Only one man who is prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice knows the answer.

A Gripping Tapestry of Secrets, History, and Suspense ✨

"Terminal Call" by Richard Winslow is a rare gem — a masterfully crafted espionage thriller that transported me through time ⏳, pulling me into a world where hidden conspiracies lurked beneath the surface of a sleepy American town. From the very first pages, the story had its hooks in me. Winslow’s brilliant narrative structure — jumping between the bitter winters of 1937 Lake Ronkonkoma ❄️ and the tangled investigations of 1989 — created a pulse-pounding rhythm that never let go.

The characters were not just names on a page; they lived and breathed❤️‍🔥. I found myself completely invested in their journey, feeling every hesitation, every revelation, every brush with danger.

What truly amazed me was Winslow’s ability to make history come alive. His vivid descriptions painted Lake Ronkonkoma not just as a setting but as a living, breathing character of its own — one that holds dark secrets waiting to surface 🌊. The blending of real historical elements, like the existence of Nazi activity on American soil, with the fictional narrative of a decades-old murder, an active Gestapo network, and the ominous reactivation of a German Enigma Machine, gave the novel a chilling authenticity.

The pacing was cinematic — I could almost see the scenes unfolding like a gripping film 🎬, fast-paced yet rich with detail. Every twist felt earned, and every clue led to an even deeper layer of mystery. Winslow’s writing made me feel like an investigator myself, piecing together the past alongside Gordon and Mona, racing against a ticking clock ⏰ toward a climactic Terminal Call that could unleash catastrophic consequences.

Reading Terminal Call was not just a journey; it was an experience — one that kept me up late at night flipping pages, hungry for answers 📖✨. It's a brilliant fusion of espionage, historical fiction, psychological suspense, and action. For anyone who loves tightly woven thrillers steeped in atmosphere and rich character development, this book is a must-read.

Five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ without a second thought — and a lingering wish that I could experience this breathtaking journey all over again for the first time.

I'm a fan of historical fiction, and this book was a lot of fun to read. There is solid evidence that during WWII, Hitler had established a secret group of agents off of Long Island in New York with the intention of hiding a submarine base which could have resulted in a direct attack on American Soil. I researched some of this after reading and there's a lot of very interesting historical facts surrounding this story. Lots of intrigue and multiple story lines make for a great read.

One of the most compelling espionage novels I’ve ever read. Transcending fifty years, a plot conceived prior to World War II comes back to haunt the residents of a small lakeside village. Set at the dawn of the general use of the Internet, Terminal Call tells the story of one man’s life and death fight to abort a dangerous scheme that threatens to paralyze the oil industry and wreak havoc on the City of New York.
