This new edition of the best-selling Bicycle Repair Manual covers the latest cycling information needed to keep your bike in top shape-from the basics of bike parts and set up, to cleaning and maintenance for mechanics, transmission, suspension, and brakes. Clear, jargon-free text accompanied by detailed step-by-step photographs show beginners all they need to know and experts how to maintain their bikes for specific needs, while troubleshooting charts and servicing schedules help diagnose and solve any problem. The Bicycle Repair Manual is the most comprehensive guide to the essentials of bicycle maintenance.
It's a much more photo and illustration focused guides, so visual learners will like this one. There's even a ?step locator' for each task, showing you which part of your bike you should be poring over.
This book included alot but the most common it did not. In my experience a bent hanger is the by far most common maintnence issue. This book if you have more than a 1000 dollar bike will not be up to date with most your components. This is a good book to have if you like DIY stuff but otherwise if there's a cheap shop near you have them look at it(exception, fixing tires).
I found this book too brief. It covers very well bicycle parts and their construction, but doesn't provide many practical "tips and tricks" which you may need for your repair. I guess, it tries to squeeze too much into the small volume. With respect to photographs and design it is beautifully done!
Well, its not easy to fix ur bike for the first time, but the book is a good reference to know how u can do it, and how its work. I hope I wont need to fix my bike soon. ;)
A nice overview for someone getting their first taste of bike maintenance, or looking for a refresher, but this isn't the book you'll keep in the garage as a reference.
