+ It had some good advice on the basics (keep your bike clean, what type of bikes there are, different components on the bikes).

- It seemed to lack much detail (how to swap out the brakes, what are advantages of one type of component over another).

It's a much more photo and illustration focused guides, so visual learners will like this one. There's even a ?step locator' for each task, showing you which part of your bike you should be poring over.

This book included alot but the most common it did not. In my experience a bent hanger is the by far most common maintnence issue. This book if you have more than a 1000 dollar bike will not be up to date with most your components. This is a good book to have if you like DIY stuff but otherwise if there's a cheap shop near you have them look at it(exception, fixing tires).

I found this book too brief. It covers very well bicycle parts and their construction, but doesn't provide many practical "tips and tricks" which you may need for your repair. I guess, it tries to squeeze too much into the small volume. With respect to photographs and design it is beautifully done!

Nice, photo-intensive look at the steps necessary to keep up a bicycle.

A nice overview for someone getting their first taste of bike maintenance, or looking for a refresher, but this isn't the book you'll keep in the garage as a reference.
