The Apocalypse

Rate this book
Book 2 of Remedied follows Book 1, the sweet love story of Oliver Quinn and Alex Rayes after they fall in love and get to know more about each other, uncovering parts of their pasts and realizing that that's harder to do than it seems when one of them-- or maybe both-- are hiding.
As they start their senior year of high school, Oliver begins to feel like the world is out to get him. On top of his struggles with school, he and Alex find themselves estranged and fighting as Oliver sees parts of Alex he'd never seen before. A string of fights leaves him and Alex weighing the pros and cons of their relationship, and leaves Oliver deciding whether to make a difficult decision.
Despite the rough patch with his relationship, Oliver is determined to make it his year, but that proves to be a challenge after he's drugged at a party and sexually assaulted at school. Struggling with the incident and dealing with a new diagnosis, Oliver feels completely lost, downspiraling and caught between blaming himself for what happened and labeling it a hate crime. With Alex by his side, he finds himself wondering where his depression fits and how the two are different, but can't help but deny the diagnosis, as it doesn't make sense to him.
He doesn't feel mentally ill. He doesn't feel the way that Alex does. After the onslaught of events that fall, Oliver just feels like he's in the apocalypse. But with the help of his boyfriend and an unlikely friend, Oliver comes to realize that depression is never just one thing, and it can't possibly fit into one box.
Book 2 includes both Oliver and Alex's perspectives as they grapple with the mess that has become their senior year, trying to make sense of it all. This volume begins a journey of healing for not only Oliver but Alex too, the beginning of what will be a long and difficult year.
Book 3, Relearning How To Be Okay, will be the end of the Remedied series, following the spring of Oliver and Alex's senior year, as the two address their trauma and try to face it head-on.
