3.5 stars. It was certainly predictable and I wish there were more scenes developing the romance between the heroine and love interest, but the author can write well. Definitely one of the better Zebra gothics that I’ve read.

This is definitely one of the better written Zebra Gothics overall. However, the suspense was lacking and the plot started to drag about 2/3 of the way through, to the point it encouraged me to just give up and nap on my red eye flight. I did get a bit surprised at the ending, however. Not one of my top gothics, but not bad and I'm definitely curious to read the others by this author.

I’m thinking I really like Michele Yount Thomas, and while this one was not as good as Crystal Shadows there was still a lot to enjoy here. Besides being a decent writer she does two things pretty well: her romantic lead/anti-hero’s are appropriately broody and slightly spastic (yes I apparently love a guy who’s a little Cray Cray), but at least they are the guy Im mostly rooting for the heroine to end up with - but what she does really well as an author is gives you pretty awesome and unique villains, with much heavier psychological undertones than standard stock “evil” characters with simplistic motives.

Fun classic type gothic read (If the main characters personality and the romance had been a little stronger/better handled it might have been up there with Crystal Shadows). Plus the setting is always a good one for Gothics, the stark, rough and dangerous beauty of the moors.

A bit slow-going, but once I was into it I couldn't put it down! Also, I was unable to guess the ending, which was an excellent surprise! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this Gothic Romance novel.
