This is a book which will take you to the beaches and adventure of skydiving with lots of action and thrill.
The story revolved around Gururaj, the last priest of Goa who worships the Betaal. One day he saw stolen idols from his ancestral temple in the local market. That made him curious, and the adventurous journey started to find the culprit.
This is a tightly plotted book that builds momentum from the start. I love the way the author narrates the Goan culture and traditions, it shows his detailed research on Goan history. The lucid writing style makes this read well-paced. Vivek weaves an exciting adventure that is filled with suspense, action, thrill, and a tinge of mythology.
The secret of the stolen idols is an entertaining, addictive read full of clever twists.

The story has the elements of suspense and thriller along with some inspiration from the history and mythology too. It has been layered beautifully with mystery.
The story focuses on our protagonist, Gururaj. He is the last of Goan priests who worships Betaal. The plot is set in Goa, India.
Long ago, some idols were stolen from his ancestral temple and the same is present in the local markets. Why were these long stolen idols in public and that too in market, raised teh curiosity of Gururaj in finding out who was the main culprit behind that past. He engaged himself in the journey to find the clues but to his suprise finds that he is not the only one in that journey.

The plot has all the answers as it focuses on the journey of Gururaj who discovers the facts that are underlying the case trying to find all the answers to his questions.
While going along with the flow of the plot, we get to see much more of the characters in the book. There are several characters yet each character development has been presented well. Again each character has been given sufficient scope to contribute to the plot.
The narration of the plot is kept simple and easy making it a good read for all. The language used is lucid. It's a well paced plot.

a journey of Gururaj, the last of Goan priests who found his ancestral temple's long stolen idols in local Markets. Who stole the idols? And why? How they are now found in the market? With so many questions, it's a rollercoaster ride full of mystery.

A fast-paced journey with a gripping narration and lots of twists, the author weaves an amazing tale that describes the rich Goan culture. Yes, Get a glimpse of Goan culture and traditions and the beauty of Goa. It's a story with an amazing plot.

Gururaj, who is on a quest to solve the mystery of stolen idols, discovers that he is not alone in the chase. The arrival of new characters makes the journey more interesting and thrilling.

With the layers of Mystery, suspense, adventures and a bit of mythology, the rich and intriguing writing style of the author keeps the readers invested in.

As the story proceeds, the author makes the readers more curious as the journey unfolds. The characters are strong and well-developed by the author. Each character adds a twist to the story. I enjoyed the last few chapters the most.

It's an entertaining, fun and amazing read that you can pick over the weekend. It's a well researched and well-detailed book. It's a bit heavy read that will take a lil more time, but it's worth reading.

Overall, it's a book that you must read if you love reading thrillers.

The narrative explores into the culture of the Goa in depth. The writing style was well written. It could have been indeed beautiful but it's beauty was marred by its sheer length and all the details that were irrelevant to the plot which was included in the narrative. ⁣

This book had one of those plots where nothing made sense in the beginning and leaves the reader perplexed about what exactly is going on but as you make more progress in the book, all the plot points start to come together and form a proper picture. All the action and adventure going in the plot definitely kept me glued to the book. ⁣

There were a big number of characters which were in the book, right from the beginning. Rather, one can say that the initial few chapters are just dedicated towards introducing new characters. Good thing is, all the characters were developed but I felt a lot of time was devoted to develop characters which were unimportant for the plot.⁣

Overall, it was a good read. It could have been a great read if the narrative wasn't stretched so unnecessarily.

The secret of the stolen idols is one such book that you know right from page 1 that it is going to be one hell of a read.
The plot revolves around securing a stolen idol and the sequences that follow it are filled with adrenaline and it surely does make one complete the book in a single go. The narration is captivating and the language of the author was too good! You can indeed assess this review as my love for the author's language and writing style.
I loved the chapters which were written in kind of a soliloquy style, like a single-person narration of their emotions. These chapters made the essence of the book and they surely did a tremendous job in making the plot more interesting.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book because of the author's narration and language, than for the plot. (The plot was very good but the narration captivated me more!)
I would recommend this book for anybody who is interested in Indian Mythology, action, and if you are someone who is looking for reading a book to amp up your writing skills, then this one is definitely for you!

The book is a thriller packed with knowledge which you can gain and feel good about.
It has opened up so many interesting areas in my mind that I have spent lots of time googling on those topics for additional reading.
The story is smooth and has enough twists to keep you engaged, but not to make you dizzy. The twists are more like revelations to readers than betrayals or mad co-incidences. I liked the smooth simpleness of the story.
One must read the book as a fiction novel but also as a reference material on several aspects. It reminded me of Dan Brown's or Paul William Robert's works.. although these two have achieved a very high class. Hopefully the author of the secret of the stolen idols will also get there with more books.

The Secret of the Stolen Idols by Vivek R Chaturvedi Book Review: Rituals of a culture and ceremonic practices go a long way in history, they mean something to a set of people who are devoted in upholding them as happens with Gururaj, a Goan priest meted with the duty to worship the culture of Beetal and to teach people about his cult which is soon feeding before the very eyes of Gururaj himself. But, the temple which he protects saw some massacres when some of the most precious and preserved idols of this sacredly revered deity gets stolen and started to be sold in the black market. This part in the work has echoed the black market trade of idols in the most coveted parts of a country only for the sheer greed of precious metal, jewelry or anything that lies important relating to the making of that deity. This point in the book has also reverberated the fact that religion gets stolen in the hands of unruly people and their ill motives so how can a single man uphold spirituality? How cannot religion be questioned and damaged in competition to money? Values and cultures come at stack which leads Gururaj to go on an heist to save the worship of Betaal and as he struggles, the readers all struggles to know will he ever become successful as only and only upon him everything depends now. After I read about Gururaj, I compared him with Atish Deepankar who like him alone helped in saving and preaching a particular cult of Buddhism. This work has reminisced historic events and holds a certified accuracy that propel readers to soon pick up such a compelling work. The novel also has shown Gururaj 's familiarisation with his childhood memories of a robbery that motivated him to safe with everything a culture that he has pursued since times immemorial. He beared the horrors of a religion getting wasted into the hands of a certain few and he crosses paths with them in his heist to save Betaal. A race against time, a spine chilling thriller with apt twists and plot constructions, and fast paced, it is a must read for which through the author has helped teach readers the importance of faith.

A mix of the genres I love most - mystery & mythology.

Surprisingly a really good book with just the right amount of everything I look for in a book. Totally loved the authors take on the book & it's contents.

The book hooks you from the start & takes you on a thrilling ride to uncover deep set secrets. I couldn't put the book down, enjoyed it to the maximum.

The cover is gorgeous & gives off this mythical vibe. The title apt. The language is easy to follow & understand.

I didn't know about people worshipping Beetal. I am surprised with just how much I learn about the world just by reading different books. This book is based off on real events & that makes this an even more interesting book to read!

If you're into mystery novels, this one's a must read!

The book is a well paced suspense thriller.

The title itself creates a sense of  curiosity among the readers along with the book cover.
The book has more of narration as base rather than dialogues.
The writing style of authors is very different from others which makes it more interesting.

The story shows that the author has put in so much efforts in research of the Goan history.
The book not only is a history mythological fiction combination thriller but is also good to gain good knowledge.

The language is simple yet very rich in vocabulary.
I felt that some part was stretched a bit and could have been avoided or return in short.

First of all ,
i would like to say that
its my pleasure ,
to review this book .
I didn't know about the Betaal and the worship of betaal ,
that such thing happened in goa until i read it .
Until this what We actually know about goa is that it is a cool place to feel peace and spend our special moments of life.
Secondly i would explain the flow of this book ,
so let me start
The book contains a story of Betaal idol
that how it gets stolen
and then how Gururaj
got it back .
Without this the book have moreover the
knowledge that you can get from this book
and that will bounce back your interest
and curiosity to know that what happened at that time , and you can analyse
that if this is not happened then the overcome had been different and
that will help you in your day to day life to
get the things analyse before taking any decision , and that will improve your decision making fast
and efficient.
Moreover i would have to say that this is really an interesting read .
To know about the tradition of goa and betaal worship.
The story have perfect twists that
it could have .
Thrill and suspense are
also very insane.
Also i feel it difficult task to write something about the history that is tradition ,
the knowledge required to
write about something like these really insane.
Now about The characters represented by author are actually exist in real life .
Some of them are
Reuben , Decruze Jaanvi
and the story have so many other characters then these.
The vocabulary and flow of writing is anti childish and relevant that the frequent words are used And
also according to each characters the vocabulary has been used.
Lastly very interesting and knowledgeable book.

What is the most recent book you read that gave you a pretty good knowledge database of a different culture of a different city?

I would say this one is mine. First of all, I would like to begin that people who think Goa is just about beaches, fenny, karaoke, etc, this book will completely change the perception of those.

Readers who like to read about a different culture can find a lot about the Goan culture in this book. There are a lot of different traditions and procedures in any city's culture. Most of it has been depicted beautifully. Not just that it also talks about the Betaal worship in Goa.
This book is actually a healthy mix.

The language is a little tough, names and characters are also different and unique except for the name Rukmini (On a lighter note).

The book takes you with the storyline of missing idols with many unexpected events. You need to focus on the language, a very good vocabulary base with the effortless presentation of scenarios.

Had fun reading such a nice book :-) I loved. Definitely would love to read it again.

Also would like to mention the Author had a very niche way of representing. The book starts and ends with a Sanskrit verse.

Mythological Thriller is just a word to explain the rush you go through by flipping THE SECRET OF STOLEN IDOLS´s each page.
Apart from being a fast paced read, it is there to take you on a roller coaster ride. I did not know that this is Vivek´s first book, well described plots and great suspense retention till the very end is an art, no doubt he loves adventure, it even shows in his writing style. The whole book feels so mythologically influenced, the texts, the vibe and the whole plot.

The protagonist, GURURAJ feels so real, hope you can feel the same just like I did.

´Gururaj jumped up against the high wall for the third time,
giving it all that he had, stretching his right hand to maximum against
the plastered surface. He was luckier this time, managing to propel
himself just high enough to get his fingers over the edge of the
southern wall of the old fortified house.
But he hung on to it firmly, swinging himself to his left
sufficiently to get the fingers of his left hand over the wall. He
strengthened his purchase on it and pulled himself higher, kicking
his right leg over the top, easily hoisting himself fully over it. And he
effortlessly jumped over the wall, landing on freshly mowed grass.´

So much in so less, this is what I am talking about, like literally it is no less than a thriller movie. Commendable work of literature and art put in to weave the whole plot, it feels surprisingly beautiful, not a big fan of mythology but Vivek´s work really made me fall for this genre.

I am looking forward to read more books by him, and exploring MYTHOLOGICAL THRILLER as a genre is the urge I feel like hopping to. Hopefully this book does the same to you.

Book : The Secret of the stolen idols

Author : Vivek R Chaturvedi

How much our tradition and culture mean to us? To what extent the idols in the religious places are adorned in India? Have we ever taken a plunge to save any of the pieces that belongs to our culture? Well , I have been thinking a lot about the above questions while reading the story of stolen idols.
Title : The title itself stirs the curiosity in me to read the book in one go.
Cover Page : Cover page is grand and beautiful. It depicts the ethnicity.
Plot : The plot is interesting , it is about the way a normal priest Gururaj jumps into the plunge to save the idols that belong to his heritage. He will surprisingly come across several of the people who are involved in the incident of stolen idols. Initial chapters give us the life and description of characters who are associated to idols. This is integrated well when they come closer to their goal.
Characters mainly are well connected and justify the their presence in the story. The plot develops as the chapter goes and it only gets a lot more interesting.
Writing style : The story is woven beautifully and well written. There are a few instances where the readers can connect to the characters that are in the story. Goa is one of the most loved places for vacation. Goa is depicted and described wonderfully. This has been my favourite part.
How and why are the idols getting stolen?
Will Gururaj be ever able to find the reason and restore them?
How are Decruze, Eurik, Reuben and others related to idols?
Do read the book to understand the secret of stolen idols and get involved to find out the solution.

I love reading mythological fiction. By the name of the book I first thought it to be a super mythological or historical piece. But it's not that. It's a mixture of everything I love in a book.
• Touch of Mythology and History
• A great fiction based on true stories
• Great research from the author's side
• Some great unknown things about India (Goa)
• The character developments
• The pace of the story.

When I first started reading the story, by the second chapter I realised that it's gonna be a great read. Because when you read something interesting, if you can't picturise it infront of your eyes then the story telling needs improvement. But Vivek Chaturvedi has done an outstanding job in writing the story. The first time when readers come to know about Gururaj when he's inside the jungle, it's almost like a movie you are watching..the description here is dramatic but not so much to make you tired of it.

About the story, The Secret Of Stolen Idols is actually a story of stolen idols. When the face of Goan way of life in Goa, Gururaj looks for the sacred idol of Betaal, he finds out that there are many more who are searching for stolen idols like that. The characters are intimidating and the storyline keeps the readers in its own flow. This type of story shouldn't be put blatantly for a review because there are so many good twists which, if told, could be a spoiler. So, I would recommend every bookworms to try this book. You won't be disappointed.

Story of stolen idols book by Vivek R Chaturvedi is a flawlessly composed anecdotal novel. The stunning thing about the book is it won't allow you to accept that it's fiction in light of references and the characters. They appear to be so obvious.

The book seems like legendary fiction or you can say verifiable fiction. The book has bunches of things for the perusers. The characters are simply so exceptionally stunning as they are so numerous in numbers yet it isn't so difficult to recollect them all due to the rich attributes they have.

The area of the entire story is Goa. The better places of Goa have been characterized particularly well. The time span referenced is when Goan individuals used to revere Betaal. The fundamental character of the book is Gururaj. He has perceived how individuals of Goa love the holy idol of Betaal. He chose to take that symbol. Did he succeed? He found such countless things that he won't ever see there. He became acquainted with that he isn't the just one behind the Sacred Idol. The difference in plots in the book, the activity, conveyance of portrayal everything is simply so awesome.

The book cover is simply so entrancing and relatable. Book has such a lot of data to share. The language will be somewhat difficult for the new perusers to comprehend. I prescribe it to every individual who loves to peruse books which have a mix of story and data. Have a happy read.

🔮This story is set in the beautiful backdrop of Goa. This story flashes light on a specific incidence of the idols being stolen from the ancestoral temples of Goa. Gururaj, the last priest of Goa who worships the Betaal was very curious to find out about the secret of the stolen idols and thus he started his adventurous quest to find out about those idols to uphold the old Goan worshipping culture.

This is a well plotted book that builds momentum from the very initial of the story.

The author has done his fair share of research about Goa and its vast culture and traditions and absolutely love the way the he narrates about it.
The lucid writing style makes this read even more intriguing.

I like how the story is well paced with the vivid unfolding of the exciting elements like suspence, mythology, thrill promptly .

A lot of character involvement can be seen in the book but their characterisation is done excellently without any overshadowing. All the characters are somehow connected to the secret of the idols.

❓What do you think have happened to those ancestoral idols? Who stole them? Will they be successful in their quest of finding those idols and the culprit behind it?

📚Grab this book to dive into the depths of this unique story.

🎀Rating - 5/5⭐

❤️Overall it's a well structured book. You should definitely get your hands on it.

THE SECRET OF THE STOLEN IDOLS
by VIVEK R CHATURVEDI

There are a slew of amazingly intelligent literary characters that anyone would love to be compared to . It’s not easy turning ideas into sentences and sentences into a beautiful piece of writing, so when it happens, it has the ability to affect a person in an incredible way.
Gururaj, the last of Goan monks sworn to the worship of Betaal, finds his life churning up short once his ancestral temples long taken idols hit the native markets. He faces a difficult inner turmoil, re-experiencing reminiscences of a dire childhood night, when he witnessed the temple grotesque theft by dreaded gangsters of the day. Setting his fears aside, he leaps into the high stakes chase for the idols for it's on his success alone that the continuation of the age recent Goan traditions of Betaal lie.
The book could be a tightly plain-woven suspense with a myriad of intriguing characters, fascinating sets, and well researched instructive chapters. Piece by piece - very similar to the taken idols - the story unravels itself unendingly until the terribly end.
I am really thankful to the author for providing me with such a knowledgeable and beautiful book.
This book is definitely for you.
I really enjoyed reading this book. ✌️👍🏻

The story has the aspects of suspense and thriller with some history and mythology too. It has been written beautifully.
The story focuses on our protagonist, Gururaj. He is the last of Goan priests who worships Betaal. Long ago, some idols were stolen from his ancestral temple and they are present in the local markets. Why were these long stolen idols in public and in the market now made Gururaj curious and he set to find out who the main culprit was? He engages himself in the journey to find the culprit but to his surprise, he is not the only one on the lookout

The plot is really good and the story setting is also great. The character developments were smooth but I felt the book was too descriptive and that made me kind of bored while reading the book. The book gets interesting after 100 pages as the first 50 pages are just introducing characters and the next 50 are getting the plot started. I thought that there were a lot of characters so it was quite jumbled up but as the book advanced I forgot all the cons and fell in love with the mystery. The suspense was well kept and it was really nicely written. The concept with a tinge of mythology made the book extraordinary and quite fun to read. Overall, the book is nicely written and the suspense is great too. The book could have been better but it's worth reading at least once.

Gururaj is the last Goan priest in the ancestral Temple and worship Betaal, he suddenly noticed that some idols were missing from the temple and were present in the local market for sell. This incident raised curiosity of gururaj and he started his journey to catch the main culprit behind this.

The simple language of the story makes it easily understandable for the readers. The unit story line of the story is very fascinating. The cover is again another attraction and just like the stolen idol the story gradually unravels itself. The another important thing is the picture of Goa and its culture that is portrayed in the story is again the result of the well research work of the author.

I would like to give it for stars and like to recommend it to those who wants to experience the blend of mystery and thriller with some mythological and historical touch.
Its just Worth reading.

"Gripping, thrilling and Articulate" is how I would describe Vivek R Chaturvedi's book, The Secret of The Stolen Idols.
The writing keeps us hooked from the beginning of the book itself, and maintains this throughout the story..
The plot is based on a fictionalized story of the last worshippers of Betaal and the protagonist Gururaj, the last of the Goan priests, finds that the long stolen idols hit the local market and what follows later is a thrilling chase for the idols along with the other characters of the original heist of the past.
The story provides us a lot of beautiful imagery and it was amazing to get an insight into Goa, it's architecture and the daily life of the characters. It felt as if I were also a character alongside them. I found myself marking numerous paragraphs as they were really relatable or funny or beautiful and a line said at a particular instance where a character explains about a Royal Enfield Bullet caught my interest,
'Carrying a few random spares won't do Louis. Whenever you go along with a Bullet, always carry with you, a full spare Bullet.' It's a really wonderful line as to capture the beauty and how relatable the book gets.
Whenever the book picked up pace it was a really amazing and thrilling experience.
I would recommend this book👏

Before reading this book, for me Goa is just a good hang out place. But this book shows a new ancient cultural side of Goa. In India it is rare to find a Betaal ( demigod) worshippers. So, when this concept is used in this book, the book itself becomes interesting.
This book contains an idol chase story. The idol of Betaal is stolen by some gruesome gangsters and hit the market. Gururaj, who still follow the Betaal worshiping tradition came to know about it and the chase begins between him and some other persons to get that. There are lots of action scenes which are described so beautifully by the author that they become lively. Story narration is done in such a way that you can Picturized each and every point of this story. At the start of the story some characters and events are being introduced in parallel manner and at last they make a sequence which nicely depict the story plot.
Some historic and mythological facts and views are used in this story to give it a real story touch. That's is more interesting as it is knowledge worthy.
Overall it is a fast paced story with comprising necessary details so one can easily complete it within a day and as it is containing all elements like suspence, thrill, mythology and mystery, you can't get bore for sure.

Have you ever heard of Betaal worship? To be honest, I wasn’t one of them till I read the book ‘The Secret of the Stolen Idols’. Yes! Vivek R Chaturvedi has come up with his extraordinary thriller that centers the real-life unique tradition of Goa i.e., Betaal worship.

The plot revolves around the last of Goan priests, Gururaj, who is devoted to Betaal worship; the theft of the idol of Betaal and, how Gururaj gets it back. The characters in the plot are all real. The characters in it’s own are so lively and awesome that separate books can be made out from each of them.

The extraordinary element here isn’t the story but the concept of it. The author uses mature and complex words at different phases on the storyline but manages to connect to the readers certainly. The research work done by author is really commendable. He has put all his effort in his research which is quite evident from the content of his book. The twists and turns at different levels give sufficient thrills to make sure that the reader remains engaged till the end. To conclude, I would undoubtedly recommend this book as a must-read for the sake of the knowledge one would gain after reading it. Just grab it and have a great time!

The protagonist of this story Gururaj is the last of Goan monks dedicated to the worship of the holy devil - Betaal. His life takes a turn when his ancestral temple's long lost idol appear in the native markets. He re-experiences the events of the night from his childhood when he witnessed the theft at the temple. He starts looking for the idol for it's on his success alone that the continuation of the age recent Goan traditions of Betaal lie. He started the journey to find the clues but to his surprise he finds out that he was not the only one in that journey.

The plot is very rich with goan culture and history. For most of the people Goa is just a holiday destination with many beaches, clubs and party spots, but this book will completely change this perception of Goa. Anyone  who like to read about different cultures can find a lot about the Goan culture through this book. There are a lot of different traditions and rituals in every place . Most of it has been depicted beautifully in this book.
Even though the language of initial chapter was advanced the following chapters has a much simple language.

Secrets of stolen Idols
Vivek R Chaturvedi

The tittle of the book is quite amazing and thrilling at the same time. The tittle is justifiable as per the storyline proceeds. I would rate 5 star for this.

The cover is good but it isn't able to show such relevance with the storyline. At the same place, other parts have done quite well. It could have been improvised. I would rate 3 star for this.

The blurb portion is written quite well. And it describes the storyline shortly. It has few complex words in blurb which depicts you the language quality and standard of the book. At some places , the sentences aren't quite easy to get beause of this standard. I would rate 4 star for this.

The story is about a priest Giriraj who rescues the Betaal idol from wrong hands. It's not known by most of the Indian, the tradition of worshiping Betaal . All the characters and plots have a good blends. It needs deep research to write a non fiction story and the author did complete justice to it. There's no doubt that grammar and vocabulary use is phenomenon . A very good job from Author's side. I would rate 4 star for storyline.

Ratings-4/5
