Maybe she just didn’t have the faith to hope. But yet, she did. She tucked that hope into a tiny compartment in her heart.

Smart, outdoors loving, college professor Katie Carlson makes a poor decision that endangers her life. Reclusive philosopher and writer Chase Harrington finds Katie unconscious at the bottom of a rocky ravine. He brings her to his secluded cabin in the Cascade Mountains of southern Oregon, attending her injuries.

The physical attraction they feel for each other is intense and immediate. The emotional and intellectual attraction is less defined, but no less powerful. Or surprising. But they are academics. They rarely act on their feelings and especially in situations like this. Katie is immediately intimidated when she figures out the identity of her rescuer. Chase is on a deadline and he refuses to acknowledge his own feelings, much less considers hers. Chase’s carefully planned life did not have room for love. Katie’s life was never the same, despite her best efforts.

An accident, a rescue, and unexpected attraction require two exceptional people to figure out what is most important in meeting a deadline or finding love? October Falls delivers a heart-warming story about finding the courage to trust yourself.

Judith Erickson's debut novel October Falls is a poignant story about Katherine Carlson, a Minnesota college professor, whose love for nature and history, finds herself in a difficult situation while hiking in the Mt. Mcloughlin forest of southern Oregon. Kate's self-discovery and new relationship with a mysterious rescuer keeps you captivated. Erickson's deep passion for preserving nature and learning from the past encourages one to think about protecting our world for the future. This is definitely a five-star book! Brenda Augsburger Yoder, Educator

College professor Katie Carlson finds herself in the cabin of Chase Harrington after a hiking accident.

Weather and injury force them together…very Hallmark/Christian romance for me. Unbelievable set up for a quick romantic bond that was very PG.
