Plain Missing

Plain Missing is the second book written in Alison Stone in her Hunters Ridge series. This story includes many of the amazing characters from book one with a few new ones as well. Continuing the story from book one and the marriage of Violet and Theo also brings in the mystery of who was stalking Theo's sister, Olivia. The drama that plays out within the story makes for a read full of suspense. Just as you think everything has been cleared up the story of missing Amish girl Hannah flares to life again. All is not as it would seem. The cliff hanger definitely makes you want to know more. I look forward to book three.

Good sequel
The stalker had left the comforts of NYC to stalk his prey at Hunter's Ridge. He has gotten bolder with each success. But Violet & her new husband are on their honeymoon, so he becomes desperate to find a way to bring her home early. He starts stalking her friends...but it seems there another stalker, someone whom the first stalker can't pinpoint, as used as he is to city & not rural noise...to constant light & not Stygian darkness of the countryside at night. We never find out if there is another stalker...but there is a bit of poetic justice in the stalker getting nervous about getting stalked.
Theo's deputy sister finds herself worried about her young Amish neighbor, whose mother died with the birth of her twin brothers...for whom she has cared, alone, since she was 8. Her father is harsh, and though the men seem to demand help with some of their chores, they aren't inclined to help her out at all. Her father is harsh. She has mothered her 10 yr old twins since she was 8. She hadn't confided inherited neighbor any inclination to leave the Amish, but there is someone in the town who helps Amish kids who want to leave. Between the stalker, who has left evidence of his presence on various ways, & the neighbor girl, plus her friend & sister-in-law's having felt like she was being stalked from a young age...and again recently as she planned her wedding...despite her mother's inclination to blame it on her being the daughter of a celebrity & the "stalking" being nothing more than paparazzi following her around. But, the staller, having left proof of his presence during the wedding (though it wasn't discovered while the festivities were ongoing), becomes very real. With the wedding plans, they'd all attributed ut to nerves & tension. But now, our young deputy has a lot to consider. It was supposed to be her week off, but she finds herself on duty in a way. She proves at one point in the story the thing I have told young women since I was a young woman taking martial arts in 1969: Take the arts. Learn to defend yourself. When you see how she acted out her #notme, I hope it inspires young women to take up martial arts with an emphasis on self defense. If you lose the fight you will still leave your mark on your attacker & the cops will be looking for attackers with ue evidence of a recent fight & asking them serious questions. And, havingnfought off attackers 5 times during uni years, I can tell you it works.
The ending is a bit of a disappointment in a way & great in another...until you read the sample chapter for the next book. Then you start wanting to read the next one.
The writer is good at mixing romance, suspense, & twists, plus the Amish & "Englischer" worlds.

There is still an outstanding mystery from the end of book 1 and I did wonder how it was going to be resolved when the main protagonist changed. In book 2, we have Deputy Olivia Cooper taking main romantic role along with her brother's best friend, Drew. The slide from Violet to Olivia did go quite smoothly and I do love how Olivia is a very capable young woman on her own right. And that despite Drew's alpha protective mode, he's able to recognise that, to step back and admire how she can take care of herself. Plain Missing is a sweet romantic suspense though a little bit light on the romance. However, an easy comfort read, perfect for my beach holiday.

Good Mystery
This book is a good mystery and love story. Olivia is a deputy and can take care of herself. She finds herself growing close to a friend of her friend’s husband. There is a kidnapping, a stalker, and a person who breaks into Olivia’s home. Lots of exciting reading.

Good plot. No immorality in it. Good story line. Although it portrayed the Amish in a pretty bad way. I would still recommend this book. way.

Really enjoyed the characters and mystery in this book. Although it is the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I think people would enjoy the whole series and reading them in order as characters from the first book, Plain Obsession, are in this book.

Fast paced
Ever felt like you were being watched. And it wasn't a good feeling? Sometimes the reason is you are...right...about both. This is a hard to put down book, second in the series. Action packed. A fast read. And I'm off to book #3.

Unnerving feelings of being watched, or is it wedding jitters ?
Believing the past was behind her, she moved forward

Plain Missing
This is another book by Alison that I have enjoyed. The characters are well developed and engaging; some new and some are from the first book. Olivia is very likable and I hope Drew will heal from past hurts. I look forward to finding out what happened to Hannah.

this is a page turning suspense story olivia is a deputy sheriff and can take care of herself drew is a friend of theo from the army and is in town for the wedding. after the wedding and theo and violoet are gone things start to wrong. very good story

I am loving this series. I started reading a little out of order but looking forward to reading this entire series. A nice calm read with a good storyline. I have a fascination with the Amish lifestyle. This series just has a hint of Amish which makes it nice.
