Oda Akira is the kind of guy who people forget is even there. His unassuming nature pays off, though, when his entire class is swept away to a fantasy world, and he slips easily into his new role as a silent assassin. Between his suspiciously high starting stats and too many details that don't fit, Akira is sure something is wrong. But digging into royal secrets is a dangerous game, and when Akira uncovers an evil scheme, he also makes a powerful enemy—the very king who brought him to this world! With the help of the elven spirit medium Amelia, can he find the power to set things right, and get his revenge?
Pretty good but it is pretty typical for an isekai. I did like that it didn’t immediately become a harem but it looks like it could become one. I hope it doesn’t.
It’s pretty typical otherwise, just a handful of things to note. The main character is op naturally but it seems like the secondary characters- specifically the love interest - aren’t that much weaker, which is nice. And there r other men in the main cast besides the main character. I hate that I feel like I have to mention that. Finally the ‘game system’ is numbers based but it isn’t too overbearing. There aren’t pages of stat points and long discussions of character builds. Tho it does have that thing light novels do where every time some game-like mechanic is explained it sounds like the author is trying to justify/defend it to the reader.
The story checks off all of the necessary characteristics to qualify as a Iseki light novel... Okay, so what?
The main character is over powered, which is not a problem by itself. The problem is that it takes 320 pages to tell a 50 page story... It isn't a horrible book, but it isn't nearly as good as it could have been. The characters are cardboard cutouts playing the same parts that we've all seen before.
The world is described nicely on the local level, vaguely in the big picture view, and almost uselessly on the political level. In other words, the King and princess that we distantly meet in the first pages are story tools and nothing more. The kingdom they start out in is king of there, somewhere, sort of... This is a book that requires a lot of help from the reader to overlook the lack of a tight story line.
This is one of my pre-teen daughter’s favorite books so I wanted to check it out. Having finished it’s easy to see why- the pacing, themes and concepts are great for the age group. Personally I found the main character way too over-powered for the story (which is why I prefer Batman over Superman and Iron Man over Hulk). As such I found the supporting characters much more interesting and likable and wish we had seen more of them.
So I got to Vol. 02 and I think I'll probably stop. It's way too childish for my liking. This was probably weitten for a child audience. There's words like "Edge Lord" and "Cringe" in it, and I really don't understand or like the protagonist. The protagonist can seem like a man who is willing to do what needs to be done in one volume and then just goes irresponsible and weak in the next. On top of that...what kind of Assassin doesn't kill? He won't even kill the worst type of people, and to me, that just doesn't make any sense.
This book is childish in pretty much the worse possible way. I'm sure it is aimed at younger readers but, if Harry Potter teaches anything, it is that books for younger readers do not have to be moronically simplistic.
MC is summoned to a magic world with class mates. For some unknown reason (probably because the author couldn't figure out this part of the story for himself) the MC has way higher stats than all of his classmates including the one with the hero class. MC spots something suspicious about the summoning and so uses his assassin class to avoid detection. However when confronted by the captain of the guard about this the MC immediately loses all suspicion and tells the captain everything. Good thing the captain is on MC’s side, eh?
Basically this book is just one stupid thing after another. Turns out king and princess summoned heroes to launch a war of conquest against demons but then curse the summoned heroes using crystals. MC discovers the hero is cursed and is conveniently told by captain of the guard where to find the crystal. MC sneaks in to princess’ room to destroy crystal but does it in the open “because he wants the princess to know he can” do it. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS SPENT EVERYDAY SINCE SUMMONING AVOIDING EXPOSURE??? Further after MC somehow finds the crystal for the hero and destroys the princess immediately reveals she has crystals for all of the other summoned. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE??? MC decides the princess is trying to trap him with the other crystals and runs away EXCEPT THE MC KNOWS HE IS THE MOST POWERFUL PERSON AROUND AND SO COULD HAVE PRETTY SAFELY QUICKLY SMASHED THE CRYSTALS AND LEFT.
Really the story just gets dumber and dumber. The MC almost dies in a dungeon but then it is revealed the MC has shadow magic that can pretty much quickly and easily kill anything but MC just doesn’t want to use it. The author at least gives justifications for not using shadow magic all the time (control issues and MC not wanting to over rely on it) but the introduction of the magic was just ridiculous. Shadow magic wasn’t mentioned while MC trained with captain (although captain help with it, we just are told that in a flashback). MC has a one of a kind world class magic sword and is supposed to be able to get to dungeon level 100 and yet on something like level 30 MC encounters a monster he can’t cut and has to resort to shadow magic???? (This same sword has no problem cutting the level 70 floor boss.)
There are more like how the MC gets an elf and monster companions making no sense, but, at the end of the day all I’m saying is that this author could not be bothered to actually think about what he was writing. A bunch of stuff happens and the author either shoehorns those happenings together or just doesn’t explain.
Bottom line: not worth the time it takes to read for anyone over 16.
A refreshing take on the isekai genre in which the chosen hero...is an assassin?
Okay, so there's no surprise that the protagonist is set up to be the story's real hero. The twist is that his classmate is the one with the actual title "hero." The real kicker? The protagonist's stats are several times higher than anyone in his class, including the hero! He immediately decides to use his assassin skills to hide his status from everyone and proceeds to uncover suspicious plots by the king and princess involving the reason they summoned his entire class. When he gets framed for the murder of the one ally he's found in the new world, he makes for the bottom of the continent's labyrinth following said ally's advice. Here, he hones his skills and picks up a couple of vagabonds along the way.
I pick up a lot of light novel series and often take forever to get to them. I love the isekai genre and how authors include different elements to turn a familiar story setup into their own world. In this case, I love how the main character's main reaction to his abilities is that he does not want to stand out. He'd rather play a background role and support his peers from afar. As such, he uses his abilities to investigate the bad feeling he gets from their summoners and in turn ends up on his own path to heroism. This series is definitely one I need to catch up on because we all know that the manga adaptions can only cover so much ground.

It's a decent read, i liked the first part but i am not big on stats rpg type of light novels. it feels kind of cheesy. it's so obvious who is going to win a fight that it isn't execiting reading it.
the main villian is set up to be the demon king, but his stats are lower then Mc's or that's implied so that fight might not be as thrilling as i'd hoped
futher the hero is soooo glazing the mc, i can't fattum why, he is obsessed and it's really annoying to read
i do like the relationship between Oda and Emilia, they don't tip toe around it and confess their feelings to each other
the comedy is funny, when they use their OP world eyes to peak in each others mind, it makes a for great comic relief
overall pretty fun read, but i am not sure i am going to continue reading the series

The story of this book has a lot of potential, unfortunately the author failed trying to bring the story to life, instead is just a copy of other books in this genre and characters from other stories, c’mon Amelia is just … Amelia!. In fact, the lack of originality of the characters ruined the whole book. The book is well written, although the action scenes are quite boring and are usually resolved quickly and without mayor repercussions for the plot.

One of my most favourite isekai theme story ever! Instead of one character got reincarnated into a new world, this story focus on a group of students got teleport to Morrigan in order to defeat the Demon Lord.
Just imagine you and your classmate got teleported to a magical world. Wonder what kind job class would you accuired? Mine might be a scholar...
Akira's petty jealously over pretty men has got to be the best gag. But he's a pretty level headed mc and pretty entertaining. I pretty much read the whole thing in like a day because i was so entertained. Amelia is also a pretty great character who can definitely keep up with Akira. I'm excited to see where this relationship goes!
An Isekai adventure with almost whole class getting teleported to a new world to defeat the demon lord. But it seems the summoners are not honest with them.
I like how MC and others whose POV we have are not stereotypical. The differences make them more realistic and living. Also the story is well written and hard to put down.
Great characters, great back stories and great side adventures. This was an entertaining first iteration of what I hope will be a grand adventure. I’m eager to read the rest and glad that all of the “setups “ have been done in this novel.
Not so good as the manga. I don't think it transferred genres well. Things that were implied and important in the manga didn't come through. (Also the style was flat-footed. The translation may be at fault.)
Some very common troupes. There is one this this LN did, the romance with the MC wasn't dragged out for no dawned reason. Kinda developed with out the building that other animes do so well, but at least it didnt pull a Rent a Girlfriend.

The MC is different..he’s not well liked but cares for others..it’s crazy but others start to realize..he a pretty good guy..can’t wait to read the next
One of the best "summon a class of idiots except for mc and fight demons" isekai I've read so far. It is nice to see side characters that are not so stupid for once. Here's hoping it won't turn into a basic isekai romance story :)
* might chance and become 4 stars. Too early to tell
