If you are looking for gentle romps through the flowers, with lovers holding hands and never making mistakes, then my books are not for you.

I don't write heroes or heroines, I write people with baggage, history and problems. My characters are flawed, they're messy, they make disastrous mistakes that are hard to come back from. My stories are not sweet or kind, they are dark and, at times, cruel. They deal with uncomfortable subjects and I do not apologise for it.

If you like plot twists, characters you don't think you'll ever grow to love but eventually do, sarcasm, dark paths and messy relationships, then come on in. The water may be deep and shark-infested, but I know the way out ...I promise.

Best way to find new authors.

Anthologies in my opinion are the best way to find new authors, get to read a snippet of how they write and what they write about and decide if you want more or not. Already in love with K Elise Hoffman and L. Ann but now I want to hunt down some of the others.
Happy reading!

5/5 - No lie I only read Midnight Link.

I needed my Deacon x Gemma fix.

I got it but still not enough. I missed Deaon’s cocky attitude which seemed to get him into a bit of a situation. He chose to play a game, a dangerous one. It was fun to read Deac go from cocky, to vulnerable, and back to his BDE by the end of the story.

Ok. Let’s face it, Deacon always has BDE, and he and Gemma are ALWAYS hotter than hell.

Perfect little reads 🤓

I don’t usually read anthology all that much but I might have to change that. You definitely do get a tease from each author, each story intriguing and makes you want more. It does make me want to go check them out. 🌸

Interesting anthology

This anthology is a mix of paranormal stories mostly geared towards the summer solstice. If you like stories with shifters, vampires, fae, demons, and witches then I think you will enjoy this as much as I have.

It’s always difficult to review an anthology with different authors because of all the different styles of writing but this book was a joy to read and I loved every single short story in it. What a great collection. Shifters, faeries, witches, vampires, soul mates…. what a delight. Of course I recommend this book!

The first story (Magic Link by L Ann) I DNFed as I didn’t like the MC’s voice or their continuous use of the f-word.

The second story (Dead Wolf Knocking by Mason Sabre) is awesome – the fight scenes, Savana’s personal growth, and Phoenix never giving up on her.

The third story (Valiant Magic by Nicole Hall), the reason I got this anthology in the first place, didn’t disappoint. Bri and Mattias make an awesome couple. Loads of action, magic and twists. A great addition to the Modern Magic world.

The fourth story (Fire in Stone by Marina Simcoe) had promise, but running off with a guy she just met… A bit too unrealistic. I liked the different shape-shifting and hints of other magic.

The fifth story (Midnight Sin by Novalee Swan) I DNFed – a guy takes a stray cat home and then ends up having sex with an unknown woman? Puh-lease.

The sixth story (Presumed Dead by SD Hegyes) could’ve been fun, but the language – him calling her a bitch when they meet, just didn’t sit right. DNF.

The seventh story (Seduced by Knight by Sharon Lipman) about a faery princess getting herself into trouble and the vampire who wants her (her blood?) wasn’t very coherent – and repeated itself: first the scene from his POV and then hers. DNF.

The eighth story (Demon of the Solstice by Stephanie Joy) – something Buffy-esque – is just too exotic for my taste. DNF.

The ninth story (Traitor’s Fall by Brook Rogers), about a wolf-shifter, I stopped reading because of stupid patriarchal rules: a female can’t become a true wolf-shifter without an alpha male biting her and she has to become the mate of five of them. Urgh! DNF.

The tenth story (Faery Wine by Jennifer L Hart) is sweet, funny, endearing – and it has a gorgeous fae bookboyfriend! I enjoyed this story very much.

The eleventh story (The Doppelganger by Elise Hoffman) was awesome – doppelgangers, witches, soulmates, reincarnation: this story had it all. I can’t wait to read the novel that follows Tamsin and Booker’s adventures.

So: four fantastic stories, one okay story, and the rest… not for me. Reading romance is all about feelings – becoming the heroine and falling for the hero. We don’t call these awesome guys bookboyfriends for nothing! I love the cover and read at least half the stories – and highly recommend four of them.

This review is for Midnight Link by L. Ann

OMG I LOVE THE MIDNIGHT PACK!!
*****
Rating: 5 Stars

Genre: PNR / Fated Mates

Ok one of my favorite shifter series is the Midnight Pack series by L. Ann, so when I found out that L. Ann was adding a short story in this anthology I literally jumped for joy. No really, I jumped. When I found out the story had Deacon... I squealed like a schoolgirl. My adult children are seriously worried about me now...

Midnight Link is a FANTASTIC short story and I do not want to give anything away but needless to say, Deacon is Deacon...Deacon the king of bad dad jokes, sexy, and devoted to his family and Gemma...so devoted he is willing to risk everything to prove to Gemma they are meant for each other.

OMG!! I wanted to punch him and then hug him and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time hoping that all would end on a happy note. Only a few authors can pack a punch in a short story, but L. Ann is one of them. Her writing is phenomenal, characters loveable and punchable, I can visualize her worlds... simply fantastic! Yeah, I am a total fangirl.

With that being said, all you Midnight Pack fans... READ THIS BOOK. If you are new to the Midnight Pack...what are you waiting for? Give it a try! Loved it! Recommend it and can't wait for more! A must read in my opinion!

I also use anthologies to find new authors. PNR was my first love book genre. So many amazing stories in the book and I discovered authors I now want to read books by. L Ann is snd always will be my go to author but you will regret if you don’t give these other authors a chance! Emma Jayne Miils and K Elise Hoffman to name a couple. I loved these stories and this is one of my favorite anthologies written. A must read!

[N.B- I bought this book solely to support one author]

"He was the one with the magic, but she had woven the spell."

Andreas the fae prince has promised to let his old "anchor" go on with her life. Gwendolyn Frank seems to be an acceptable choice to replace her. However, how does Gwen feel about it. Her "Southern upbringing" leaves her vulnerable, but there's a spark that attracts Andreas. How about Gwen?

One night- solstice- where the fae truly see and are seen, opens the two very wounded souls to a caring neither one has ever had. What's in store makes me want to have more of this story---maybe a full book? Highly recommended 5)5

This was a pretty good mix. Like any anthology, there were some I liked and some not so much. My rating is an average of 2 stars to 4, depending on the story. I did find a couple of authors who are new to me, whose stories I liked. That's another reason that made this anthology a worthwhile read. The editing was very good on some of the stories and some had some typos and other mistakes.
