Seven Days for Ruby

Rate this book
When John Phips, a vagabond, stops at the home of Ruby Alder, an elderly widow, and offers to do some work in exchange for a meal, Ruby agrees. But there is something familiar about John - in fact, she once knew a man named John Phips. But is this the same man? And if it is, can she trust him? How much has he changed in fifty years? As Ruby tries to sort out these questions, and as John continues to work for her, she begins falling in love with him. Ruby's son, Will, believes that John Phips will be nothing but trouble. In fact, he has evidence that John is an anarchist who is wanted by the law. Ruby, however, never gives up hope...

This is a fun book, action packed with enough of the main characters to feel comfortable with them. Definitely a good, enjoyable teen read. I liked it and the ending surprised me although I still don't think I totally wrapped my head around the end. That part rang a little strange, taking this story down to 3 stars.

Second or third time I've read this one. I'm re-reading some of my favorite more "light hearted" books these days.

Good, mystery LDS story. Fun, easy read with a mystery and a twist that I didn't quite see coming.
