I really should have stayed in bed on my twentieth birthday.

Instead, I decided to go out. Have a few too many drinks. Meet Adrian, a gorgeous man I'm magnetically attracted to, and if that wasn't enough, I managed to get abducted to another realm.

I find out I'm not human—well–not entirely. It turns out I'm a demigod, half-human, half-god. If that reality check doesn't knock a girl on her ass, I don't know what would.

To top it off, Adrian isn't just some hot one-night stand at the bar. He's one of the four gods tasked with ruling over the school this year. A school I'm now forced to attend if I want to control my powers. Powers that will be locked away until I prove I can handle them.

Despite my anger towards Adrian for taking me from my life, I can't help but find myself drawn to him. The only problem is, he isn't the only god that makes me feel this way. Mateo, Kyros, and Maximus keep popping up into my life, confusing me with their penetrating stares and possessive attitudes.

When a dark power emerges, I must rely on them to find the threat attacking the school and its students, especially when the malevolent force turns its attention towards me.

If I could go back to that day, I—almost—definitely would've stayed in bed.

Well, I really wanted to like this book. The premise sounded like something I would enjoy but I just had several issues with the book.

Insta love can crawl in a hole and DIE, I HATE insta love. The best part of reading any book with romance is watching the romance blossom, insta love takes away from that. I understand they are mates, and as an avid reader of the mate trope I understand that there is usually a connection of sorts that the characters feel. But I feel like you can give characters a connection without taking away from the chemistry and tension. The FMC had absolutely no chemistry with any of the men whatsoever, and everything happened so quick that I found it hard to believe they even had true feelings for each other.

I also hate when paranormal books include the "real world" and pop culture references. I don't want to pick up a paranormal book and read that the characters are dancing to 34+35 by Ariana Grande. Just a big no for me.

The plot was also slightly predictable and juvenile. The villains of the book being a scoobydoo type headmaster who is highly suspicious... the whole book. So no surprise when, he is in fact, the bad guy. And of course, because it's not a trashy RH without setting back feminism 50 years, we have the other villain, the bimbo mean girl. Said mean girl quite literally told the FMC she was going to make her life a living hell. Why, you ask? Because the FMC gets male attention. That is all. *Sigh*

Also, we are told that everyone at this school is descended from a god but they won't know who until some ceremony or whatever. But there is never any mention of no fraternization when I feel like there should be? Because it's school with 20-something year olds who are obviously gonna get it on. But how would any of them know if they're hooking up with their sibling if they don't know their parentage?

All mentioned above is personal issues I had. I read a plethora of trash and find it enjoyable, just depends on what you're into. But the main issue I had with this book that wasn't personal, was the writing. It was very, very bad. So bad that I had so skip over chunks of inner narration because it had my eyes swimming. It was written sorta like this:

"I look at my phone to check the time. Then I put my phone in my pocket. Then I look up at the ceiling. Then I close my eyes. Then I start to think. I hear a knock at the door. I don't want to answer it. I get up to answer it though"

With everything mentioned, I just couldn't enjoy this book at all.

FCK YES! THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 GREAT SUPERNATURAL SAFE ROMANTIC WOW LOVE STORY!!!! I ENJOY THIS BOOK SO VERY MUCH THAT I CAN’T WAIT TO READ THE SECOND ONE! PLEASE BE MORE HAHAHAHAHA
🤩🤩🤩🤩🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
YES GREAT AUTHOR!!! I FIND YOU. I WON’T EVER LET YOU GO….

THIS STORY IS start with the heroine thought she was a normal human and then baaammm! She meet a mysterious hot handsome good looking man and they have this amazing make out session and it turns out the heroine is a god being powerful woman. I LOVE THIS STORY IS BECAUSE THE WHOLE STORY LINE IS NOT BORING AT ALL! IS PRETTY MUCH TO THE POINT AND THE HEROINE IS SO COOL THAT SHE JUST GOES ALONG WITH IT. SHE’S NOT BEING COMPLICATED WITH THE WHOLE NEW NEWS SHE GOT WHICH IS COOL... cause i hate when a read whinny heroine lol🤣

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS A SASSY, NICE, COOL, SMART AND KNOW HOW TO DEFEND HERSELF EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY 😍😍😍😍 when a bully delusional other woman tries to get mad at the heroine because one of the hero likes her and that ow didn’t like it, THE HEROINE ALWAYS STANDS UP FOR HERSELF AND KNOW WHAT TO SAY TO THAT BULLY. SO SASSY BUT CLASSY🥰🥰🥰🥰 YES GIRL!!!! SHE HAVE THAT AMAZING SENSE OF HUMOR 🤩🤩🤩 I also loved it so much that the heroine is powerful but not arrogant and she’s so friendly to everyone... like even though she knows she’s popular but she didn’t have standards towards friends.

‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS but idk cause they didn’t really talk about it. The heroine didn’t say her past

‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING AND NO SEPARATION

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROES IS OTT POSSESSIVE LIKE SERIOUSLY SOOOO POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE. ALL OF THEM HAVE THEIR CLASSIC PERSONALITY BUT ALL OF THEM ARE VERY EXTREMELY POSSESSIVE TOWARDS THE GIRL🥺

Also the heroes is not manwhore tho….
EVEN WHEN THEY ARE POWERFUL AT SCHOOL AND SERIOUS HOT HANDSOME BUT THEY ARE NOT A MANWHORE THO. They didn’t go to students even when they can. The heroine is the first student they went for and their soulmate🥺🥺🥺

(Yes I’m in love with the heroes and this book) 😍

‼️‼️‼️SOOOOOO MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HEROES.... LITTLE FROM THE HEROINE

‼️‼️‼️ONE OF THE HERO WHO IS ACTUALLY THE FIRST HERO WHO MEET THE HEROINE AND CLAIM HER, Gosh i love it so much when he company her when she first started her school. When she have to buy clothes and have a breakfast for the first time in the cafeteria, he always goes to her and sit next to her. And make sure he kissed her in front of everyone to see🥺🥺🥺 the heroine didn’t mind at all… idk i just think thats so romantic of him and sweet 🥺

The heroine is the new amazing popular girl and she started to go to her classes, day and a weeks later one by one hero saw the heroine and claim her🥺

‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT OF COURSE. ITS A PULL SOULMATE THING THEY HAVE FOR THE HEROINE. AND TRUST ME WHEN THEY MEET THE HEROINE FOR THE FIRST TIME IT WAS PURE HOT ROMANTIC SCENE EVER. I WANT ONE😜😜😜😜

Its like they really went after the heroine despite so many people looking or think. They really chase her.. even mateo (my favorite) he doesn’t goes to class that often or even go there but he immediately go to class when he see the heroine 🥺🥺🥺 he really ask her lets go with him to be alone with him🥺🥺🥺

‼️‼️‼️DRAMA WITH OW BUT ONLY ONE OW. NOT TOO ANNOYING AND NOT TOO MUCH. DRAMA WITH OM BUT NOT TOO ANNOYING....
The drama with ow is the ow likes the hero but the hero never even touch her so she hates that the heroine is the hero wants... but she only made her comments like couple of times to the heroine, never more, and she always got defeated by the heroine because my girl knows how to defend herself!

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROES ALWAYS TELLS TO THE HEROINE THAT SHE IS MINE MINE MINE MINE.

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS 21 years old but idk about the heroes tho lol

‼️‼️‼️I LIKE IT WHEN THE HEROINE HAVE SO MANY GUYS LIKES HER WHEN SHE DIDN’T EVEN DO ANYTHING FLIRTING TO THEM. THATS SO HOT

‼️‼️‼️VERY HOT SMUT SCENES...

I want all of the heroes to have that scene but only two of the hero to do that to the heroine just this first book. So hopefully the second book we can get to see each of the heroine being with one of them so sexily and hot!

‼️‼️‼️THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK OF THE SERIES SO HOPEFULLY THE NEXT ONE IS COMING SOON BECAUSE I CANNOT WAIT. I’M OBSESSED.

I REPEAT. I’M OBSESSED.

The hero that I’m so obsessed with is MATEO AND MAXIMUS. Like they have me by my arms 😜

✅✅✅so overall this story is amazing, the way the author writes each characters and how the story goes is just very well done. I don’t get bored when i read it and i do get bored easily when it comes with books that just too long to make it make sense if you know what i mean… or sometimes other stories with supernatural lovers can be confusing because the heroes already say what the heroine really is and then she got this two weeks of still figuring out what they said when its 100% obvious and clear🤣 but this book surprisingly really is that good, the story and everything for me is just really a good and even better. WHEN I READ IT I WAS LIKE PLEASE DON’T BE FINISH ALREADY, PLEASE I NEED IT LONGER😂 Even when i was eating, i kept reading the book when i usually watch a movie when I’m eating😙 because thats how obsessed i am with the story! books like this is hard to find these days so I’m so glad i find this book and i get to be obsessed with the stories and the series and the author….

HOPEFULLY THE SECOND BOOK IS LONGER AND BETTER. PLEASE AUTHOR DON’T ADD ANOTHER WOMAN DRAMA BECAUSE THATS NOT WHAT ALL OF US WANT 😜🙏🏻🙏🏻 HAPPY ENDING AND ALL ROMANTIC🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 THE MORE POSSESSIVE LIKE SOOO POSSESSIVE THE HEROES IS THE BETTER!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’M WAITING🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

ITS JULY AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SECOND BOOK LIKE PLEASE 😋😋😋😋😋

I’m officially going to read this author for forever. Because this first book is my first love for her🤩🤩

If i write things wrong please correct me because when I’m excited about a book, i sometimes type
things too fast so it gets wrong sometimes 🥲😅

🌐🌐🌐➡️↘️⬇️➡️This is my own personal thoughts and opinion about the book so if thats not sit right with you or you feel I’m not being fair blablabla, please know that everybody in this world have their own different things that they like and don’t like. It may not be the same thing with you but thats okay because i am my own person and you cannot control me or tell me what to do. For example; i put ketchup (tomato sauce) on my fried chicken. You think that’s disgusting? For me its not and i’ve been eating it like that for many many years. You tell me to put another sauce and see if i like that better? I already did many many times in years but i still like the way i like it. It’s called differences between me and you and billions people in this world😊 be open minded😙 I respect people’s opinions about my opinions but in the end of the day if i say I don’t like it or i do like it, its up to me and its on me. And in the end of the day i always liked and show my respect to books and people’s opinions on books whenever that book is good or not good in my opinion 😊 Respect people’s opinions guys😙😙 I don’t want to write this down because its not really my thing to do it. To like address something like this when obviously i know the people who’s been reading my reviews many times and all the time, they are smart enough to understand and respect other people’s opinions no matter what their opinions on book or their point of view 😙😙 am i right? 💕 but if you still wants to be negative and be karens about my review on book, i will never acknowledge you 🙏 ⬅️↖️↕️⬅️↩️⤴️

DNF @71% p276/390 Chapter 19(Olivia)
Ok. So. I’m gonna be honest. Olivia is just not my favorite FMC.
She has some good moments, for sure.
But I really dislike all the dumb ‘I can’t do commitment’, ‘ew feelings’ bullshit she says in her head. While also being a completely confusing person on the outside and going back and forth with the guys she interacts with.

Plus, some of her speech patterns really just rub me the wrong way for no other reason than that in real life, people who talk like she does would be completely disgusted by me.🤷🏻‍♀️ yes. It IS a personal issue. 😂

And I’m just bored of it.
I’ve said it before, but I get to certain times of the year and I’m looking forward to reading certain things so much that everything else just feels slow and boring and I can’t make myself care.
And that’s really nothing against this book.
I’m sure if I wasn’t in this mood it wouldn’t be dragging for me so fucking much. I mean, it’s got spice, and humor, and I like all the guys so far.

*sigh* *rubs temples*
I just really need more books from my favorite authors to read right now. 🤦

This was a really solid debut!

I really enjoyed the premise and the set up, and Olivia was a great fmc. I love confident main characters and she was definitely that. I loved her reactions too, and how she didn’t have betraying body syndrome even if it was fated mates.

The guys were introduced in great ways, though there were sporadic times they were there and then gone for weeks at a time. They each had distinct personalities and I’m interested in finding out more from them.

I loved the way female friendships were portrayed! And even with a mean girl at the school i love how focus wasn’t really given to her. I loveeeeeee no OW drama and no MM!

Personally, there are times where i wish miscommunication wasn’t the main factor in driving the plot. Once we reach the second half, there’s a lot of that happening. Even though it is multiple POV, we don’t always see the guys interact all together or with the council, so I would’ve liked some of that.

There are some wonky sentence structures, where maybe a comma should’ve been used instead of a sentence on its own that didn’t seem fully complete. Didn’t detract from the plot though!

I will definitely be picking up book 2 and recommend this series!

Fated mates, demigods, Gods, powers, best friends, mean girls, multiple POV, and a surprise ending! What more can you ask for in a book? I am completely utterly Addicted to this series! This is Rachel Callahan’s debut novel and it was everything one could hope for in a novel. Olivia is the FMC, and she’s a spitfire even with all the twist and turns that fate throws her way. Adrian is sex on a stick, he’s so confident and goes after what he wants. Kyros our sweet librarian 😏 is just so cute with his nerdy demeanor. Mateo is everything; he’s sexy, bulky, and the desk scene had me literally laughing so hard, I couldn’t breath. Then there’s Maximus, oh Maximus he’s literally a ticking time bomb. All four guys are so perfect, I don’t want to spoil anything by saying who’s who. Then we have the “minor” character. Nelle is best friend goals, Kali is so shy, and I loved seeing her come into her own. I can’t wait for book 2 to be released so we can see what’s next for everyone. Round of applause 👏 to Rachel for a stunning debut novel! #IlickedMateoandMaximus

Safety for books 1-3:
•No manwhores
• no virgins
• no talk about sexual history on 3/4 of the guys
• the heroine only hooked up with people before but nothing involving feelings
• one H mentioned his ex was the god of lust and they dated a millennia ago but broke up because she cheated on him. No mention of his past anywhere else
• no real OM- h has a friend in her friend group who likes her but she doesn’t have the same feelings
• no real OW- one girl thinks she is dating one of the H’s but he never showed her any attention besides recruiting her to the academy (like he does with every demi god)
• no MM
• I think condoms were used (I forgot😭)

HOLY SHIT what a good book! Ascension is Rachel Callahan's debut novel and she did an amazing job! I love Olivia "Liv", she is a strong FMC who acts appropriate when she's informed about gods and demigods, she also doesn't take shit from bullies. I like it when our h isn't TSTL. 😁
I also appreciate that Liv has bestfriends that are females, it seems most RH novels have it where all females that aren't the h are total bitches.
Now on to the good stuff, what we all look forward to in a #whychoose book... her harem! Adrian, Kyros, Maximus, and Mateo. 🤤 Rachel Callahan gives us a good mixture of men to love and I can not wait to get more of them in book 2! I don't want to give away any spoilers, so do yourself a favor and read this book. Go on now... go read and expect to miss some sleep if you don't start early or are a slow reader.

Overall I liked it but it had some problems.

The fl is completely different in the first few chapters then the rest of the book, it’s like an entirely different person with no explanation to the character shift.
The book is really slow, which would be fine except there isn’t much character development.
The fl is afraid of commitment but they don’t give her a real reason for this, she just keeps saying it’s because of her past trauma but then her past trauma is just that her dad worked a lot her entire life, he loved her a lot and they were close but he was also distant? It’s not explained well and it doesn’t really explain her hesitation to be in a relationship or why she’s afraid of being abandoned when she’s never been abandoned.
I’m not usually a fan of academy books but overall it wasn’t that bad. I enjoyed it and will read the next one.

First of all, hats off to Rachel for an amazing debut novel!! This book has everything you didnt know you needed. Fated mates, sexy gods, powers, a smart mouthed best friend, and a gorgeous demi-god FMC. We have Olivia, our no-bullshit smart and witty MC. Then the guys. Oh my gods the guyssss😍😍😍. We have Adrian, our playful loving jokester, Kyros our sweetheart librarian, Mateo our knife loving freak, and finally Max our angry boy. This book is the perfect mix of sexual tension, smut, and plot. You will not regret picking this book up! I cant wait for book 2. Congratulations again Rachel ❤️ #whychoose #Icallangryman

I really wanted to love this book, but almost DNF it. I slogged through to the end mostly because I convinced myself we would finally be given some insight whys behind everything or at least some of the things by the end. I was wrong and am now irritated that I wasted time reading this when there are so many other things out there to read! Without spoiling anything for other readers, I will say that I still want the answers that were not delivered in this first book, but do not have enough faith that they will be delivered to start book 2. Also, the lack of character development or any personal connection with them made even the few steamy scenes lackluster and uninteresting for me. I was very disappointed and will not be finishing the series.

The writing style is really pulling me out of the book. Her childish behavior is very annoying, and it all seems very boring.

Cant read it anymore.

This was a well-done debut RH in my opinion. I've really been liking academy books again lately and the set-up for this one was interesting (demigods needing to be taken to the academy to learn to control their powers). I liked that the FMC already had a wonderful BFF and finds a supportive friend group at the academy, including more positive female friendships. There is a mean girl, although she's not a very effective mean girl in terms of her threats. I was fine with that though since the FMC had plenty other things to deal with. I'm not sure if she'll play a larger role in later books as powers come more into play or not.

The FMC is an interesting mix of confident, smart, brave, snarky, and kind with hidden insecurities. She gets a lot thrown at her early on and I appreciated that it takes her time to adjust. Because of being in the unknown and some of her insecurities though, she sometimes blew hot and cold and wasn't always great with communication. Her fated mates that she runs into at the academy are also not the best communicators sadly (thankfully the book is multi-POV so we get inside their heads). However, they are smoking hot and fascinating. Even the angry one, which is not the type I usually like as much. I'm really looking forward to delving more into each of these guys and seeing how their relationship builds with the FMC because what we have so far is intense chemistry and signs of a future amazing connection. The guys are already friends who only trust each other (a trope I love). There's some well-written steam in this first book so I'd say it's a medium burn. No other woman drama and no mm.

In addition to the hot guys and classes, there's more happening at the academy and the FMC is specifically being targeted in attacks. I liked the mix of mystery and action regarding what's going on and there's a lot more to come based on what we discover but all that we still don't know.

I did think that there were some unnecessary details in some places of the story and extra wordiness happening that sometimes made scenes lag a bit in reading. However, I'd rather have more details than not enough. Book 1 does end on a cliffhanger that's emotional. I'm definitely reading book 2 and hopefully some elements get resolved fairly quickly because there are major revelations that this group clearly needs to tackle after the ending.

Book cover was better..

This could have been good instead of mediocre in my opinion. Lots of telling and not a lot of interaction between the FMC and the guys in the harem. Too much self monologue and daily routine telling of the leading female.

Don't get how the FMC female friends are all into F/F as a side plot-line. No explanation as to why the FMC was insecure of being rejected constantly. Did not care for the weak FMC and nothing really happened except at the end. The storyline drag and move at a snail pace in my opinion.

This is a review of the series which I skimmed to find out how it ended. I will not rate the other books since I did not read cover to cover like I did this book.

In book 1 - did not like Max
In book 2 - really did not like Adrian
In book 3 - did not like Mateo

Not a fan at all how there were zero consequences for how they all (except Kyros) treated Liv. When they felt like finally pulling their head out of their ass, Liv was standing there waiting with open arms. Now, had their piss poor attitudes and treatment only lasted a short time, I would have been fine with it but an entire book EACH was just too much!

Whole series:
Way too much description of every little scene. Inner monologue was too much as well. It felt like half the series was thoughts and descriptions of every scene instead of the action taking place. I found myself constantly skipping pages from boredom.

In conclusion, this series was not a win for me.

Wow. Seriously, wow. I am in utter disbelief, Rachel, you are amazing. As IF this is a debut novel!!

I was fully thrown into Liv's world and caught hook, line and sinker with the engaging story. I started this book just before teatime and finished it in one binge read, THAT'S how good it is.

Without giving much away, I'm totally drawn to Adrian and Mateo for now, but I'm pretty sure Kyros and Maximus Will fully worm their ways into my heart.

If you love the idea of God's, Demi-Gods, magic, academy, villains, mean girls, hot alpha men etc. Etc. Then this book is absolutely for you. Incredible debut 👏🏻

i love this world building. it has great characters.
olivia was for me a great bad ass female, that didnt let her betraying the body or let anything feel even when her fated mates where right there in front of her. in my opion she was head strong and i really loved that about her.
i defently want to read book 2 & 3. it was easy to read.
well the plot was more miscummication then normal i still loved it.

Ich weiß nicht warum so viele das Buch mit vier Sternen bewerten aber das Buch hat keinen Plot . Man könnte das Buch in drei Kapiteln zusammenfassen . Das ganze Buch klang eher wie eine Introduction für den Plot . Absolut schlecht geschrieben

loved it!

This book was amazing, I was completely sucked into the storyline from the very beginning.
It’s written with such detail and emotion, the twists and suspense were perfection.
Loved the characters and the push/ pull between them, also the friendships that have developed thus far.
What a cliff hanger ending, it literally had me biting my nails.
Overall a fantastic book and I can’t wait to read more of this series

Amazing 5 Star Read
I didn’t sleep! I could not put this book down. I just loved every word. Rachel Callahan has such a gift. I was so invested in the story and the characters. Olivia is such a wonderful FMC. She’s feisty and resourceful. Her insecurities add a layer of complexity to her character that I could really relate to. I loved how distinct and different the men in her harem were inspite of all being gods. And the chemistry and build up was perfection. I still can’t believe this is a debut novel. I can’t wait for book 2.

A mate or four for your birthday?
Olivia is aimless as she tries to figure out where she is heading in life. Like so many new adults she hasn't figured out what she wants, but a hot night out on her birthday gives her life purpose like she never thought it would. It also deposits her in an academy for demigods. Ascension is a great read and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

This book was slightly difficult to rate...
I would say the first half of the book was closer to a 4 star for me. While there were obvious and predictable plots it was still a nice and enjoyable read for the first 60%, though some minor frustrations with Olivia and the guys
Then it started going downhill and got frustrating with some things being blown way out of proportion, Olivia not making a move to apologise or just talk to the guys.
The miscommunication, or lack of communication and sharing important info got annoying pretty quickly.
All in all this was enjoyable but had potential to be so much better.

Re-read June 2024: this is one of those books that stays with you when life forces you to stop reading and spend every free minute reading. My eyes couldn’t move fast enough…love this so much! On to book 2! ♥️

Original review:
I haven’t read an ‘academy RH’ in years, but I’m so glad I picked this one up. It was on my TBR for ages, but I waited until the last one came out, because I hate reading a series that isn’t finished yet (by the time the next book comes out, I forgot what the other books were about 😅).

I.COULD.NOT.PUT.THIS.DOWN! First wanting her to meet all her mates, then them finding out about each other, all the drama in school, danger, twists and turns. So action packed! And let’s not forget about the steamy spice, phew! I really liked that h accepted her new reality pretty quickly and it wasn’t dragged out.

This RH features four delicious men:
Adrian- god of illusion
Mateo - god of war
Kyros - god of healing
Maximus - god of destruction

This first book was very ‘Adrian heavy’ with him meeting her first and him being the only one the h is fully intimate with in this book. I guess and hope the other books will flesh out the other three mates a bit more.

This book ends on a cliffhanger and I’m off to read the next one RIGHT NOW!

Safety:
-OW: mean girl in school thinks Adrian is ‘her boyfriend’ threatens to make h’s life a living hell. H ignores her. Quite a few other women flirt with Adrian (and Kyros), but they are always ignored. These men only have eyes for their mate! So no real OW drama.
-No OM
-No cheating (but RH, so h flirts and dates and kisses multiple men, sleeps with only 1 so far)
-Separation at end of this book due to misunderstanding (cliffhanger)

I feel bad for her mates

So this FMC in my opinion is kinda toxic. She overreacts to even the littlest of slights but says it’s cutesy dramatic, no lol she is also hot and cold every other sentence with all of them and leans on a weird emotional excuse/crutch about not wanting to get close to any guy, but continues to go on dates or make out and spend time with them, text everyday and so on lol and I don’t understand why she is so over the top to Kyros when she got all butt hurt about what he said to the point where she isn’t even looking at him and tells him it’s over. He was the nicest one to her but he says one wrong thing and he’s being shut out. But the others who are rude to her get her attention and time still? But she says she is done with all of them…the poor MMCs were being emotionally whiplashed left and right lol and don’t get me started on her calling their house a prison when they were literally guarding her to save her life when she had nobody else to do that for her. I’m glad the epilogue got the “miscommunication-lie” out in the open because I probably wouldn’t have read the next book otherwise. If the vibe sticks to the whole “come closer, no! Go away! Come back, ugh why are you not leaving me alone!” Situation I’m gonna DNF haha

This book was so teen that my younger self would have had a hard time reading. Really disagree with the ratings

Yeah, I was really disappointed. I had higher expectations and was really kind with the 3 stars. I wanted to like it and rate it well but I didn’t. I really didn’t like the FMC (Olivia), she was just to whiny for me. Not mature or mentally tough. I kinda found her a coward tbh.

She is the mate of 4 gods: Adrian (illusions), Kyros (healing), Maximus (destruction), and Mateo (war)

And even the gods annoyed me. You would think if someone was over a century old they would be mature, intelligent, and not have the emotions or temper of a toddler.

Sexiness: 3 out 5

I don’t think I will be reading the next book.

This review is of my own opinion.

Can't stand fmc

Fmc is very annoying and immature. She become too much for me to ignore. I did finish but the dialouge is way too young for me. Odd plot conveniences that just don't make sense. The back and forth waffling of fmc seriously annoyed me. had to keep reminding myself these people are not in high school......but they should be. Just not interested in her dramatics and selfishness.

.

While reading, I was constantly getting annoyed by how back and forth the fmc was. She’d make a decision just to go back on it.

I also didn’t really like the flow of the story, I kept needing to stop and take a break.

Absolutely shocked to see this was Callahan's debut! Well done - I read it in one sitting. If you love academy romance of any kind, you'll want to read this.
