Can the most embarrassing day of your life lead to the love of your life?
Corfu, Greece.
It’s not a vacation for HR expert, Olivia Duncan. It’s a business trip. One that she has diligently planned for, because Olivia likes to keep things organized and perfect. Not even her frizzy hair gets away with not doing as she wants.
But an embarrassing mishap at the company conference puts her in the path of Niko Teresi, a handsome taverna owner who knows a thing or two about how constricting corporate life can be.
Olivia doesn’t do change or spontaneity. She never deviates from her path.
Can Niko show her there’s life in letting go?
Take a heart-warming trip to a Greek island to discover if love can be found in unexpected places with the unlikeliest of people. With relatable characters, steamy chemistry, and breathtaking locations, this sun-drenched contemporary romance novel will pull you into every heartfelt moment.
Lily Baines is a mother, wife, and author, and the order to this changes depending on the day. For 20 years she has worked in Human Resources, mostly in the high-tech industry, but kept writing to maintain her sanity and flow of creative juices. Lily is dedicating her time to her 3 children, husband, family dog, bottomless laundry basket, full kitchen sink, and her writing.
Author Lily Baines has a knack for writing sweet romantic stories which makes you want to leave everything behind and go to wherever the stories takes place. And this is no exception.
I feel for Olivia, she is hardworking but makes mistakes, just like the rest of us. Her meeting Niko is just a serendipity, but nevertheless a perfect coincidence.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
A sweet and enjoyable romance you can't stop reading. The characters are fun, engaging, easy to get to know and realistic. The story captures your attention and the location is described so well and beautifully you feel like you're right there in the story. A perfect weekend read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A business trip to Greece will offer Olivia something more than work to focus on. Niko takes one look at Olivia and decides to show her some fun. The storyline has a great flow to and the characters are engaging.
I received a copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Excellent novel from the author. I was an ARC reader, so received this free, and very happy to be one as I enjoyed her previous stories. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. Only didn’t give 5 stars because I would have liked a little more show of emotion from the hero towards the end, as the heroine was making a decision. I will go back and reread, though, as I enjoyed it so much, and purchase my own copy. Of All Days is an excellent book: no issues with grammar or typos. A beautiful story with realistic characters and plot. The hero and heroine are in their late 30s, so each have baggage and history, which people would have at that age. I’m very happy to recommend this book and this author. I have already added her to my ‘Happy to Reread’ shelf, and follow her on social media so I can hear of new releases as they happen. Enjoy!
I absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down until it was finished. The author developed all the characters in such a way that you felt like you knew them. The descriptions of the locations were so vivid that I could picture being there. The unpleasant circumstances that brought Olivia to the taverna and Nico were so plausible and could have really happened. The friendship, and later the spark, that developed between Olivia and Nico happened quickly, yet the story was so descriptive you could feel them get closer and understand why they fell in love. This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Lily Baines but it certainly will not be the last! I received this book as an ARC from the author for an honest review.
Olivia was such a strong character. She had this most embarrassing event happen to her, one that was viewed for the whole world to see and laugh at, yet she overcame it and was even able to laugh it off later. It changed her life for the better and made her realize her job wasn't everything, that living and loving was more important, a great lesson that touched my heart.
Niko was a great teacher in this, having already learned that lesson. I loved the slow burn between him and Olivia. He was a good person, a rarity these days.
Lily does such amazing slow burn stories. She has a real gift in showing real stories with slow progressions instead of insta-love. I am always giddy to see what she comes up with next.
A refreshing read that will make you want to go visit Greece.
This story was a great lighthearted read with a good message. Poor Olivia’s conference snafu turns out to be the best thing to ever happen to her. Even though Olivia and Niko really only get to know each other over a two week time period it feels authentic and not rushed and their chemistry is palpable with some good tension at the right places. I also thought the heat level was written just right. Reading this after such a long year of social distancing and limited travel I thought the author did a great job of making me feel like I was right there at the Teresi Taverna with Olivia sitting at table 32 and now I want to take a quick vacation to Greece.
This book is just.. wow!!!When I started reading it, I felt so immersed inside the story, the characters, the place. I can say that I could smell the sea breeze . The story is amazing. When Olivia arrived in Corfu, Greece, she was aiming to consolidate her career, but everything went wrong. It was just a business trip, but fate had another plans. And when she decided take a break and relax around the island, she met Niko. Anyway, the book is easy to read. When you start reading it, you can’t put it down. I would love to read extra chapters or a second book about Olivia and Niko. My advice: just read it!!!
Very much enjoyed this story of Olivia and Niko. Olivia who is now divorced after a ten year relationship. Olivia is in Greece to present a project she is very proud of and has been working on for years. Well, things don't go as planned. Olivia then takes some time to explore Greece. As she does she meets Niko. I love how Olivia seems to learn her own lesson in paradise. Olivia's presentation takes on real life meaning for her as she spends time with Niko and is getting to know herself and him. Romantic and funny I loved this story!
"Of All Days" was an amazing read. It had everything most novels should have: romance, humor, and adversity in a masterful plot! Furthermore, the wonderfully written characters were interesting and believable. They gushed with chemistry. And, let's not forget the awesome setting of Greece. A reader couldn't ask for more: an awesome plot, intriguing characters, and a stunning setting. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative.
I so enjoyed this story. Well written, the chemistry between Olivia and Niko becomes more evident and is finally acknowledged by both. The setting is so well presented, I felt as if I was there (I wanted to be!). The disasters at the start (missing luggage, technical glitch) became the trigger for Olivia’s personal insight and growth, to re-evaluate her values, life and career. I received this book as an arc and this review is entirely voluntary.
I was lucky enough to receive this book as an arc and I can highly recommend. I loved the interaction between the two characters. Likeable, funny and sexy plus the fact that they are slightly older (like myself) I find them relatable. As many others, I’m sure who have not been able to travel, the descriptions were on point and I could totally imagine that I was in Greece! Lol. A beautiful written and descriptive book. Passport in hand I am ready for my next destination please Lily!
I really loved the little world the author created here! I have loved the idea of Corfu since the Durrells on PBS. And here it is, in modern times and just as lovely. Olivia has the worst day of her life and runs away to the best possible location, which is Niko's taverna. Over a few weeks, she realizes that she has come home.
The tale is well-written and compelling. I read the book in about 4 hours and had to force myself to get up and do other things. The world Olivia left behind tries to lure her back, but nothing can compete with love and the family she has found on Corfu. Lovely, sexy but not graphic, beautiful world.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Absolutely refreshing!!! I love the way this was written. A take on romance we don't often get to see. No big predictable blow out or argument between the couple but big decisions to make instead.
A sweet, heart warming romance with a sexy man that any woman would want to be with!
Take a sit and once you'll open the book...poof... you're in Greece. Lily Baines is a new author for me but surely this won't be the last book I'll read. I was so hooked by the story, Olivia and Nikko are so lovely. This a sweet story and I loved it from the first page. I'll surely recommend it.
Lily Baines is masterful with her story telling. I loved being an armchair traveller, especially now when travelling is limited.
Your eyes tell me different things....Two characters who fell in love, while each of them on an individual journey of discovery.
Sometimes love’s more than enough and we don’t have to provide answers for life’s problems. A bad day can lead to amazing surprises and sometimes even right onto the pathway to the love of your life.

4/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You know how sometimes you feel like watching a Hallmark movie but you wish they were better? Well Of All Days is just that! A feel good romance that teaches you something at the end with the perfect amount of realness that even the romance skeptics can't complain! 💖
Olivia goes to Greece for an HR conference her bags got delayed she's wearing airplane clothes so she buy the only thing she can find an I ❤️ Greece t-shirt and hopes for the best. Yeah it totally doesn't go her way because a very detailed text from her best friend shows up on the screen and now it all over the internet. 💀
Olivia was very likeable and I liked the fact that you never felt like she was a walking "woe is me" even if she had she would have been justified.
Niko was such a swoony hero! I needed more of Niko. I feel like it was a slow burn but I don't think it really was it was just that the chemistry was so palpable that it seemed more time had passed than it actually had.
The supporting characters were great and felt real and not just throw away.
I was crying at the end cause I was so emotional. A lot of the times when the "conflict" of the book comes and the characters make questionable decisions I'm upset because I've already fix their problem in my head so they can be together but here I felt just like Olivia. But the ending was worth it! ❤️
Overall, Of All Days just became of my comfort reads. Lily does an amazing job of creating this cozy world that you want to escape to! Can't wait to read more of her books!
Now I want to go to Greece and find myself a Niko.. 😭
There was lots to like about this story - pleasant, escapist and sexy, but it was ruined for me by the glaring errors and ludicrous events which blew me right out of the story. Just as examples, the heroine leaves a 20 euro tip in a taverna for the meal she’s eaten and when she and her friend have a meal there she leaves a 50 Euro tip. Talk about over-tipping! That was so patronising for the waitress she worked with. That’s like having a meal in a US restaurant that costs 50 dollars and leaving a 35 dollar tip. No way!
But the real laugh out loud moment was when Daria flew from Seattle to Corfu for the weekend! Shortest flight (changing flights in London) would take 17 hours! One which went via Athens (which they do in the book) could take between 21 and 26 hours. Add into the mix a 10 hour time difference and the jet lag implications - well sorry, the idea of spending all that time and money for three nights is beyond laughable.
The story is nice but utterly predictable. Heroine meets hero, they are attracted, they fall in love, they have sex, she goes home, realises she wants to be with hero and returns to Greece. No real obstacles, no black moments, no drama no conflicts. It just seemed to be….. and then….. and then ……. And then.
A pleasant and undemanding beach read. The author has a nice easy flow to her prose and I did enjoy most of it.
Apart from certain arrogance from the MF character, I like the story.
“How come you don’t know English? Never left this village?” Only someone from a certain county would ask such a question... I also don't know how someone would be able to work in a country where they don't speak the language.
There have definitely been days in my working life that have started out like our heroines conference debut. Of course I didn't get lucky like she did but this was a fun read and I enjoyed reliving some of my memories of visiting Greece. Definitely worth a read.
