This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:
I've already listened to all the books in the series in their separate smaller boxes - but if you haven't, don't miss this opportunity to get all 12 stories in one set cause I guarantee you: once you've started you'll want to go on and on and on until the last word in the last book:)
It's a fantastic set of tales, in so many different tones and touching on so many difficult issues that concern modern women: from racial and sexual abuse to home violence to addictions to lethal diseases to women's rights... whatever problem you can think of, you'll probably find it there. But do not feel scared or overwhelmed by the sheer range and the seriousness and heaviness of the issues covered - they are tackled with tact and subtlety and are woven into fantastically written tales, full of strong women you can identify with and their friends and families. It's so difficult for me to choose one particularly close to my heart - each one is so different from the others, all of them unputdownable...
For more of my reflections on individual books, just visit my reviews for each box set: The Winter of Discovery, The Spring of Discovery, The Summer of Discovery, and The Fall of Discovery. But just to sum it up, here's what I wrote in my review for the last of the 3-book sets, The Fall of Discovery:
"It's a wonderful series of tales of women who face so many different problems, but come out of their turmoils stronger, wiser, more powerful in mind... Thank you for the journey, Ms Hamilton, it was a real pleasure to meet all of them:)
Narration by Ms Hazen was wonderful throughout the whole series; so many women got their feelings, anxieties, fears, but also joys and triumphs voiced out thanks to her:) Her interpretations of all the stories were very well done, making the women seem real to us."
And I still maintain that opinion:) and I still enjoy every tale in the series with the same emotional involvement as the first time I met this amazing bunch of women created by Ms Hamilton. So don't wait, just grab the set - you definitely won't regret that decision:)
