As the Chief Operating Officer of his family’s business, Roman Blade is accustomed to being the one in charge and the firstborn son of the Blade clan has developed a reputation as an unfeeling ogre, a notoriety on which he prides himself. But the inflexible self-control he has spent years cultivating suddenly abandons him when he hires Sydney Foster to be his new Executive Assistant. The spunky redhead drives him to distraction from day one and he soon finds himself falling head over heels in love with her. But their budding romance is tested when he suspects that his younger brother may also be falling for her, and things turn ugly when a secret from her past is abruptly brought out into the open. Can he find the path that leads to a ‘happily-ever-after’ with Sydney, or will Roman’s jealousy ruin any chance for a future with the woman who breathed new life into his hardened heart?
Avionne Celestin first fell in love with the romance genre through bedtime stories like Cinderella. As a teenager, she discovered another love - writing - through her study of Literature. So when she decided to pursue a career as an author, she naturally chose to write romance novels, or as she calls them 'modern-day fairy tales for grown-ups'.
Each story is crafted with raw emotion, and her obvious love for her characters breathes life into them, making them both realistic and relatable. Each book is chock-full of sensual heat and sprinkled throughout with a generous helping of dry wit, and all come with a guaranteed HEA that is sure to melt even the coldest heart.
On the rare occasions that Avionne isn't glued to her laptop, she enjoys hanging out at home with family, friends, and her three slightly delusional rescue mutts.
The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of The Blade Brothers series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Roman sexy as all get out eldest brother, manager of his family’s business, in control of everything until Sydney walked in for a job and yep, he hired her as his assistant thinking with his small head. Sydney for a job she is pretty good at being an assistant, but she is the object of two men’s desire. The chemistry is intense, and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored but is there more to Sydney considering she use to work for the competition, will Roman step into the role of Alpha, and can they find happiness?
Roman is a grown man who thinks with the wrong head and likes to throw temper tantrums before he gets the full story! HE also happens to be the CEO of the Blade Company. Sydney is just a woman looking for a new job due to circumstances we do not find out about until later in the book but is kind of hinted at throughout. Roman is immediately taken by Sydney and hires her to be his assistant. Sydney use to work for the competition, so you must wonder if she is there for the job or if she is up to something shady!
Drama happens and Roman is very quick to judge before getting all the facts. This happens several times during this story, and you would think he would have learned! There is definitely chemistry between them, and you can get lost in their story. Steamy scenes, revelations and truths are plenty. Great start to the series and I am looking forward to reading more about the Blade Brothers and the women they choose! I had a hard time finishing Blade's Edge as the main character's actions did not fit his role. Blade is supposed to be an alpha male, the oldest of the brothers and COO of a powerful company. He has power, status and is always in control. However, when he is supposed to replace his long time assistant, he hires Sydney based on her resume alone. Considering she worked for his company's competition, he never asked her reason for leaving and making a lateral career move. Instead he reacts with his other head and gives her access to all records and company information. He continuously acted like a lovesick pup, throwing temper tantrums and stomping of his feet. The book and story could have been better with Blade being more aggressive and dominating to match his status in the company and family.
Roman, the Blade’s Edge is the first book in the Blade Brothers series. It tells the story of Roman Blade, the eldest brother and manager of his family business, second only to his father, and Sydney Foster, his new assistant. The story is one of instalust, passion, desire, jealousy and love with some pretty intense sex scenes thrown in. It’s also lighthearted and humorous in places which only adds to this enjoyable story.
It’s quite evident from Ms Celestin’s style of writing that this is one of her earlier novels and that her writing has developed in leaps and bounds since this was released originally. That being said, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the remaining three adventures of the Blade brothers.

Our hero has no time for relationships until our heroine walks onto the scene and turns all his thinking on its head. But that also brings out his jealousy, something else he is not used to dealing with. He is going to have to figure things out quickly before this get too far out of whack.
This is book one of the series, so no issue there.
This is a contemporary romance. The story is well written and easy to read with a well done cast. I rather liked both our hero and heroine and enjoyed watching our hero kind of fall apart over our heroine. The plot includes just enough complications to keep things interesting as well as plenty of steam. Overall, a very enjoyable start to the series and I look forward to the next book.
Highly recommended.
