Abandoned. Unwanted. Orphan.I was born with no past and no future. Abandoned on the steps of the Abbey of Amnestia, for nearly twenty-one years I fought the idea that I was unwanted. I was clumsy and outspoken, according to my only friend. Troublesome and worthless, according to the nuns. The only thing I knew for sure is that I wasn’t meant to stay hidden forever.Just when I was about to be cast from the only place I’d ever known, it appeared. Or rather, they appeared. The answer. My way out. A magical castle full of the one thing all humans should have feared. Fae. Not just any Fae either, but Royal Fae—the most powerful of all.Three Fae princes, each colored in the abilities of their home Courts. The crimson prince. The frost prince. And the midnight prince. And though I’d spent my whole life thinking I was human, I’d better hope they find something in my blood that marked me as one of them because if not … I might not leave the castle at all. At least, not alive.
USA Today bestselling author Helen Scott spends her time alternating between fantasy and reality. She likes to think she’d be sorted into Hufflepuff and would have been a Physical Kid from Brakebills. Her days are fueled by tea and cuddles from her four-legged kids and amazing husband in their home in the Chicago suburbs.
When not reading or writing, Helen can be found baking, enjoying a walk in the woods, crafting, or playing video games. She’s a lover of sushi and K-Dramas and is convinced there is magic in the world if you know where to look.
Whether paranormal or contemporary, Helen loves writing sassy, kick-butt heroines and drool-worthy love interests. She's the author of the House of Wolves and Magic series, the Cerberus series, and the Of Demons and Dragons series.
Good lord. This was painful to get through. The story was fine, the characters were fine. The writing……was not. It was like a high school student with a thing for fae wrote this.
This book is insufferable. The writing is trash. You can tell the writer really wants to put the impression of Cress being charming and snarky in her own head but it falls flat. The writer just made Cress sound like a imbecile. The supposed to be “funny” commentary Cress has in her head is just so boring. The writer repeats so many things in this book. It’s like her target audience are 4 year olds and she wants to make sure we get what she’s trying to say about that giving topic. If you are a good writer, you shouldn’t have to repeat the feelings/ thoughts the main character has over and over again. It gets tiring for the reader. I don’t know, if you want to read a book about a girl who falls in love with three men. That’s definitely in here, just nothing else. The world building is TRASH, the character development is TRASH, the writing is TRASH, and honest to God the romance is TRASH. So basically, if you just want to read some words and have no emotional connection to it this book is for you!!
Wow, wow, and wow! I so loved this RH. Cress, the main character who may be a changeling, she is after my own heart. Her dialogue throughout the whole series had me laughing and smiling so many times. She has a tough as nails exterior but inside she is pure delight. The chemistry, humor and good old fashioned hotness is weaved between her and her men all throughout and you won’t be able to put this series down!
Roan, Orion, and Sorrell are Fae Princes from very different realms, but are brothers to the core. However when Cress literally stumbles into their lives, this is when the chaos, danger and love begins. With every turn of the page you will be spell bound!
You will also love the fact you can read the whole series in one swoop; even during cliffhangers you just turn to the next page.
You won’t have a boring moment in this series and I will definitely read it again and more books from this Author. HEA guaranteed!
I absolutely loved this series. Let's get the technical stuff out of the way first: MFMM, why choose, Fae vs. Human conflict, Found Family, FMC past yet to be discovered.
I was initially attracted to this book by a social media post referring to the Fae in the novel needing sex to survive and rely on it to replenish their powers. With my absolute love for steamy novels, fantasy novels and why choose novels, I was immediately hooked and made it an instant add to my TBR. Surprisingly, with that tagline, there weren't that many steamy scenes, however, to be honest, the plot didn't need them at all. I was hooked from the very first chapter to the very last line. The twists, the turns, the "OMG, NO!" moments I found myself having. I found myself not wanting the book to end. It was amazing.
I will definitely be recommending this to other readers. Well done.
I haven't read anything from these authors previously, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was a well-written story with absorbing characters & a fast-moving plot. I ranked it down a star because I found a few blatant typos, & because I thought that some of the explicit sex scenes were too much. It's one thing if the scene adds to the overall plotline, but when it doesn't, it's more like voyeurism. But that's just one reader's opinion. I recommend this book to more mature readers due to its explicit content, but I believe many epic fantasy aficionados will enjoy it.
I loved reading this series. I could not put it down. It was so beautifully written. A lot of reverse harems focus more on the sexual aspect of the relationships and pretty much discard plot, and the love aspectsof the relationship. I'm so glad that this series was not like most of the reverse harem books I've come across in the past. These authors are amazing! I will definitely will read more of their stuff. I'm so glad I gave them a chance.
I liked this book!! Or, books actually. I got the 3 stories in a bundle on KU. I really liked the story, the way the relationships built and the character growth. There's some heat here & there, but the story isn't hurt from lack of sexy scenes. I've read both authors before and I think they did well in this collab.
The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star is the fact that I think there was so much more that could have been added to the end of the story to grow upon Cress' story, such as her wedding and how her life went for a little bit but it was like it was rushed and it just ended with her friends coronation. Other than that I fell in love with this and could not put it down.
The ending of the last book is far too rushed and not great in my opinion. I think it started out strong and all the detail and stories were great but it was just a rushed ending which ended up making this far less enjoyable. Plus I love how she had this spit fire personality but was oblivious to who she was even after Tyr told her when she was a prisoner.
Tore through this. It was a real ripper. Ending was a touch disappointing though. I'd have liked more on the new group dynamic after Sorrell finally got on board, rather than focusing on Nellie and the humans. Still, it held up enough for a 5.
This series is a fun read full of twists and turns. I loved the vibrant story full of fascinating characters and intense emotions. I highly recommend reading this series.
Honestly love this book. The ending is a little rushed but still very fun read. Spicey level is 3/5 for me. I couldn't put this down and ended up reading it in three days.
I enjoyed the rollercoaster ride as Cress discovered truths about who she was and who she was meant to be with. The ride was great but I wish there was more closure at the end. Why bother telling us about how the Queens killed off her Court forcing her parents to leave her to be raised by humans? Wouldn't that make her a Queen? Were the two Queens who slaughtered an entire court punished by being put in iron cuffs and cut off from their magic? Since Prions parents are dead is he a King? Do Roan and Sorrell get named kings of Crimson & Frost courts once their moms are dethroned? Way too many loose ends!!!
The book was centered around Cress, Orion, Roan, and Sorrell. In my opinion, A happily ever after for the main characters would be a Coronation for them to rule a peaceful Far under a united court. At the very least, give them a wedding.
I'm giving it five stars because everything up to the end was excellent but I am disappointed. It feels unfinished.
Being generous giving this 3 stars. Cress is the clueless orphan who is basically kicked out by the nuns once she turns 21. She encounters this castle in the sky, goes inside and meets 3 Fae princes. The characters are flat, the sex scenes feel like they're just tossed in there to have sex scenes.
