Belle Henderson is a lover of books, big hair and training her beagle not to eat all her furniture and possessions. She lives in sunny Swindon, UK with her family and said naughty beagle.
Belle co-wrote her first romantic comedy in 2019 whilst on maternity leave. In 2020 she was made redundant and in-between parenting and tearing her hair out, she has created another five stand-alone chick lit books, all set in the fictional seaside location of Coolsbay, based in the South-West of England.
People’s idiosyncrasies fascinate and occasionally amuse Belle. She loves to home in on these quirks which subsequently help to breathe life into her characters.
Belle’s books are quirky, romantic, laugh out loud and always a little toe-curling.
I loved Felicity, she’s a no holds barred kind of girl and as she says herself she ‘doesn’t have a filter’. After an unfortunate incident with her flatmate, Felicity attempts to get her life on track, unfortunately she seems to have bad luck with the people she meets. Her narration is honest, and at times raw, so lots of funny moments ensue. A refreshing rom-com with an edgy heroine that you can’t help but find endearing - I definitely recommend!
This book has great characters and so many laugh out loud moments, I especially liked the trip to the hairdresser, it was hilarious. I loved that the main character had a ‘different’ job to the normal romcom and this made it interesting. Belle Henderson has a very quirky style and an edge to her writing which I love. A real page turner and unputdownable, thoroughly recommended.
What s great book. Very quick paced. Thank goodness not a long drawn out saga. This was humorous, and the point. There were points I did not like felicity, but she came around. Definitely a book worth reading
Oh my! So many emotions from this book. Although Felicty had her moments, she was certainly very relatable. She was open, honest and had her fair share of trauma and rocky roads, past and present. She handled herself pretty well, deffo a tough woman! Felicity was accountable though....she knew when she had slipped up and when she eventually had to let go of something. I totally understood her upset over her Dad (can I just say I hated Joanne for what she said to Felicity in the pub though?!) and I would have 100% reacted the same way with her work situation too! (even with the revenge plot)
I hated so many characters from this book and was having strong internal arguments with them as if I was actually Felicity! Joseph was deffo a suspicious character but I understood how loneliness and longing led Felicity to him.
I really loved some of the housemates and it felt realistic in how they supported one another and then sometimes had an argument with one another. I feel like this would be quite a fun house to live in....plus, no kn*bhead stealing your food!!!!
This book was very heart warming and despite some moments that made me rage on behalf of Felicty, it was a light read. One of those books that you occasionally find yourself sat with a smile on your face while reading....or maybe a gag when you get to the llama visit!
Another great Belle Henderson book! Deffo turning into one of my fav authors :)
I wanted something lighthearted to read and this was perfect. The storyline was great, the characters were fab and it made me chuckle. I’d highly recommend this book!
A story of poor housemates driving Felicity out, to finding great new flatmates (and friends). All the while having job and colleague issues. Will she let her new friends in (even awkward posh man-child Leo who has a softplay den), or will new mysterious man Silver Fox Joseph who she meets in the pub whisk her away to a better life?
All of this against the backdrop of past family and friend issues that Fliss can't get over.
Having lived in houseshares with some interesting characters, this book is a little bit of fun. Felicity seems like a normal young woman with similar issues to what many have at work and home while trying to progress in life and gain the boyfriend, good job and valued friendships. It was quite obvious how the relationships would change, and that there were some rotters that she needed to get rid of. But it's nice to see friendship and more break through. Generally it's a fun book with of course, a happy ending.
This is such a funny book, as well as being poignant in places. The main character, Felicity, is down on her luck and on life in general. She's moved away from her home town after 'man' trouble. She feels betrayed and alone and determined to make a fresh start. After a false start - the opening chapter has a familiar 'housemate stealing my stuff' theme - she moves again, and it all seems too good to be true. There are many genuinely laugh-out-loud moments in this book, the characters are very well drawn and the situations and relationships are very relatable. (The work situation is so topical.) Thoroughly recommend!
This is a cute wee romcom that I devoured in 2 sittings. Stealing the show for me was Magic the cat, such a wise wee feline. The characters were loveable, especially Will with his tourettes often voicing what everyone else is thinking. A quick read that you can get happily lost in for a couple of hours.
Couldn't make up my mind how I felt about the book
Some parts I really enjoyed like the house she moved to sounded awesome with its own play room and reading corner. I enjoyed certain parts of the book and read it in one go but I felt the ending felt a bit rushed. I also don't know how I felt about the main character in some ways I liked her but in other ways I wasn't sure how I felt
Couldn’t finish this book. Managed till 79% and that was a struggle. Fliss is such a bit*h. What a horrible main character. She is spiteful, vengeful and vindictive. Honestly couldn’t take to her at all. She was so mean about everyone. Just a bit “fatty” no to this book.
I really didn’t like this book. The main character was not likeable at all, in fact she was vile. I also didn’t understand the reason that caz tried kissing her, what was the point? Adds nothing to the story? Is it just the character who’s rude and judgmental about fat people or the the writer as well. Really dislike writing this but I won’t be reading anymore books from this writer
Enjoyable but predictable. Think this must be self published as well because there are quite a few typos and punctuation mistakes. However, overall I enjoyed it. X
Felicity is such an awful character. I did not like her at all. I preferred the other characters much more. Seems like a nothing book, the storylines all seemed like a waste of time to me.
