Brady Family #6

Restoration

Rate this book
Giving in to their attraction could fracture their connection with their adult children. But staying apart might mean they miss their last chance at love…

Impulsive, eccentric, moody. Mick Brady has heard it all in his 60 years and brushed it all off just as quickly. When his adult son finally lets him know the impact of his choices, and Mick is crawling out of his skin with regret.

Celeste Sheffield has lost everything she thought was important, but in her late fifties, she’s figuring out what really matters: her family. Celeste’s son marries into the Brady crew, and she’s drawn into their boisterous, supportive orbit. She’s also distracted by her feelings for the handsome patriarch of the family, and she can’t seem to get him out of her head.

Mick and Celeste bond over their shared experiences with loneliness and their quest to mend fences with their families. They’ll just have to tamp down the spark smoldering beneath their friendship. Mick is no stranger to lust, after all. He can keep his pants zipped around Celeste, and prove to his kids he can be a responsible adult.

When Mick’s grandson has an accident on Mick's watch, he calls on the one person he knows won’t judge his babysitting skills. But does she have to look so good when she swoops in to save the day? Can Mick and Celeste avoid temptation as they focus on changing their lives? Or could their relationship be the thing that helps them stay the course?

Restoration is a later-in-life redemption romance with plenty of pining. If you like messy family dynamics, unforgettable characters, and a slow burn that curls your toes, you’ll devour this final chapter of the Brady Family series.

It's never too late for love--that's the message I tried to convey in this silver fox romance about redemption and forgiveness. Mick and Celeste have made their share of mistakes, but they still have a lot of love to give! Also? Mature adults still have a lot of passion. And this book has plenty of it!

I loved this series (as well as the ones before) and can’t wait to get started on the next series (bring on the FOOF ladies!).
The only part of this book that I did not agree with, and it could be that I’m in Canada, or it could be my paediatrician, but I had a very hard time getting an ADHD diagnosis with my grandson before he turned 6 (he is now in grade 3 and can FINALLY do a full day of school). Apparently, they don’t like to diagnose that young. Again, could just be my own personal experience.
I am like Mick and Celeste in the knowledge that I am an “undiagnosed” ADHD kid, it was just not a thing when I was growing up, we were just “active”. It’s nice to have this knowledge and awareness out there now.
I am happy Mick and Celeste got their HEA, it’s nice to know that, even in “senior years”, new love can still happen (I know it’s a book and ‘make believe’), it gives some of us ‘old biddies’ hope.

Late in life(50s and 60s)romance
0.75/5🌶️ slow burn
Mick has always been a hot mess and nobody in the family really trusts him to remember important things, but finally one day one of his sons agreed to let him babysit and his grandchild is just like him, a spitfire of energy and chaotic energy, but when he eats a bunch of crayons he ends up calling Celeste( his niece's mother in law) who he feels will help him buy don't judge him. Celeste rescues him and ends up spending the day with Mick and his grandkid and she feels the attraction to him growing stronger.
Celeste is also a mess, she has been a total bitch to her kids and has been trying to mend fences with them for a while.
I love how this book shows them trying to better themselves and also fight the attraction between them, what the other one doesn't know is that they have been interested in each other for a while.

Mick and Celeste

Very nice wrap to the Brady Family series, but I felt that Nick and Celeste didn't really have much page time together Dating and spending quality time together because of the Brady wrap up. They had more to offer than babysitting.
Additionally, I would have liked to see more of Mick and Celeste going through their Autism diagnosis and therapy. I felt it was glossed over and felt rushed and yet the underlying effects featured heavily in the rest of the series. I wanted to understand it better.
As always I loved the Pittsburgh background, including the Strip District etc. Would have loved to hear one YINZER!!

I think this should have been 2 books. one for Nick and Celeste and one for the series wrap up.

Overall this was a wonderful, interesting series that kept me engaged throughout and that I would definitely read again

Mick and Celeste are opposites but fix each other in the best way. Mick fights himself over all the bad things he has done in the past forgetting that some really great stuff came from some of those mistakes. Celeste is trying to find out who she is after years of trying to be the perfect fit for her husband and their status, all of which is lost when his shady dealings are discovered and then his death leaves her alone and shunned by the elite. This is the final book in the Brady series, and while I guess you could read it as a stand-alone I think it is best read in order so you get the full family dynamic and understand how the other characters fit.

It's never too late... Give yourself the gift of a special novel!

Mick and Celeste have many regrets in their lives, but they each have children that they are proud of. When Celeste's son marries into the Brady family, Celeste isn't prepared to be drawn into the loving family, as well. With children on each side pointing out the failings of their own parent, the two "grown ups" Become fully invested in making personal changes to help them be better not only for their children, but for themselves, too!
A brilliantly written, heartwarming book that will brighten your day. Its definitely one you will not want to miss!

Thoughtful

Having read all previous books in the series, where in one of them Mick and the family acknowledged he had ADHD, it was a surprise to find in this book he just discovered it. That anomaly aside a very refreshing romance.

Read some reviews which state that Mick and Celeste had to overcome their adult children’s aversion to their relationship. This is just not true. Their children couldn’t have been more supportive. This books centres around a couple who, looking back at their parenting lives, dealing with the fallout of that whilst coming to terms with their failings and disability.

OMG. These two are hot messes of bad choices.

What I liked? Mick is 60 and Celeste is age appropriate in her late fifties. Thank god!
I would have stopped reading if she was in her 20’s, or 30’s or 40’s.

Mick has cheated on his marriages.
Celeste was self medicating. Her daughter Orla marries into Mick’s family. I really liked that Celeste was spreading her wings and doing things that scared her.
Recommend.

Spot on

Ms. Davis is either an amazing researcher or has family with ADHD. The descriptions of ADHD behaviours were spot on. I was glued to this book until the end. There must be many people who go undiagnosed their whole lives. It's true that parents often get tested and treated as a result of their children's diagnosis. The romance between Mick and Celeste is an amazing vehicle to educate the public about ADHD.

Two older people find love but their adult children are not so happy with it all. They need to try to appease their children or they will need to break up. Will they give up their love just because of their children? Will they go ahead with their romance? See if love wins over

I like that Mick and Celeste's story is one of a couple of similar age and experience. It's is also nice to see that the main characters' flaws help their understanding, even if it take a bit of time allow them to change.

Good story from start to finish.

I really enjoyed this book. Even though this is an older couple, I wasn't turned off by the book. If other books featuring older couples were like this, I would totally read them too. It was still tasteful and funny. I love this crazy family and how they band together. I also liked the ADHD highlight.

Lainey Davis spectacularly shared the life of nerds, people on the spectrum, diabetics, loss, underappreciated, women in a male occupation, and ADHD beautifully. The Brady family is a six novel rom-com series of people who have experienced empowerment and courage through difficult and challenging situations.

Love when you least expect it. Discovering yourself and your limitations while finding someone who sees the real you. Coming to terms with your past. This is a great read with lots of feel, both good & bad along with struggles even as a mature, successful adult.

So the characters from this book have some redemption from the way they have been portrayed or acted in those, it's just that I don't know if it was enough.

Delightful Mature Romance

I was delighted to read a romance with a couple in their 50s. The characters are well developed and the exploration of ADHD in adults was fascinating. I recommend this book.

I love the characters.

Landry Davis's books are always good because she creates normal people who deal with their imperfections and still manage to find someone who fits with them.

This was a really good series, the writing was full and loud with characters the same way. The plot was completely comfortable no major stressors no violence.
