Prince Lucas and Clara meet a mysterious young goblin in this seventeenth magical adventure of The Kingdom of Wrenly series!
Goblins are among the most mysterious creatures in the Kingdom of Wrenly. Known to be extremely dangerous and shrewd, goblins were stripped of their magical powers after being defeated by the wizards in the Goblin Battles. So when Prince Lucas and Lady Clara come face-to-face with a young goblin on a mission to save the wizards of Hobsgrove, they must decide who to trust before history repeats itself.
My oldest loves this series and I'm glad the latest didn't disappoint. The message is good and timely. Don't lump everyone from one group together – an individuals’ worth is not dependent on a collective past, on stereotypes, etc. Give second chances. Forgive even if you can't forget. Move forward together with hopes for a better future.
We really loved the characters in this one and how the wizards had to rely on the most unlikely of people to rescue them. This adventure felt like it could easily be an episode or two of a show.
The more we read about and learn about Wrenly, the more excited we are about the characters we meet and learn about along the way.
In the realm of beginner reader chapter books, I am not one for fantasy, but I really enjoyed this entry in The Kingdom of Wrenly series. The premise follows Prince Lukas and his friend Clara, the baker's daughter on their many adventures involving dragons, goblins, wizards, mermaids, etc. in the kingdom of Wrenly. Here, the wizards have been kidnapped by goblins who long ago their powers had been taken away. Now they seek revenge, but one young goblin wants to do good. Can Clara and Lukas trust an enemy throughout history? This story teaches about standing up to your enemies and not judging all people the same way. I would highly recommend this to kids who enjoy fantasy. My rating - 4/5.
My first and last Kingdom of Wrenly book. Some simple themes, some tropes, and advice not to study history if you're a member of an oppressed group (!?!). Way too easy, not satisfying at all... readers of the skill to do the vocabulary & page count would surely feel as if it's fluff, almost a baby book. Don't dumb down the content of books for struggling readers!
