Kingston High #3

Triple Layer

Rate this book
Welcome back to Kingston High...

What happened with the two of them that night took me by surprise; the blonde haired beauty who appeared out of nowhere, and the dark eyed prince who took my breath away. They made every single one of my fantasies come true, but I can't let it happen again. Especially after I discovered who they really were.

Ellie is not who I thought I needed, but I want her.

Spencer is everything I always dreamed about, but is off limits.

That doesn't stop me from trying to keep them a secret from my friends, because the truth will ruin everything. But then the Knights found out about something so twisted it might change the way they feel.

Will I be able to keep them or will I lose them both completely?

*Triple Layer is the third book in the Kingston High series. It is a MMF dark romance suitable for readers 18+. It contains sexual abuse, violence and suicidal tendencies. It is advised to read both Piece of Cake (Kingston High #1) and Cakewalk (Kingston High #2) prior to reading this book.*

Sundae Leighton writes romance novels that are sweet with a dark twist. She got her start writing fanfiction with her friends in school, but didn’t take the plunge to publish her first book (Picture Perfect) until 2020. Born and raised in Connecticut, where she currently resides with her husband and their cats. She sometimes scares herself when she writes things darker than intended, considers coffee the nectar of the Gods, and once ran the NYC marathon (OK - half marathon). When she isn’t writing down what the voices in her head tell her to, she likes watching murder shows, NASCAR, and reading romance books with lots of dark angst.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review

With every book I read by Sundae Leighton I fall more in love with her writing and storytelling skills. And every time I go back to Kingston High her characters steal my heart more and more, plus the plot in Triple Layer was AMAZING, more secrets, twists and contracts to discover in what could be the best book in the series, at least so far.

I didn't expect Jonathan to be the next of The Knights to tell his story, and needless to say, Sundae surprised me with the news of that it would be an MMF romance, which only increased my interest and expectations in Triple Layer, and best of all, again with this author, the story was much more than what I expected and I loved every moment of it. Jon was a VERY interesting character, who broke my heart more than once, but also surprised me by showing new sides of him that I hadn't read about until now. He is the youngest of the Hamden twins, a reserved, kind boy who suffers in silence despite being surrounded by people who care about him and love him, Jon's life gives a sudden twist when Ellie walks up to him at a party, he surprisingly finds himself attracted to her and takes her to his room to discover that they're not alone: Spencer is waiting for both and so willing to lay hands on Jon, and all this just in the first few pages!! Jonathan soon discovers who these two mysterious and sexy strangers who have shown him a new world are and realizes that his life is about to get even more complicated.

Spencer is a character that we already met in Piece of Cake, and whom I had completely forgotten about (I feel really bad about it now that I loved him madly 😅), a Weston High football player, popular boy, and earned the Knights' hatred because of a kiss. He was a beautiful character, I loved that he always showed his feelings for Ellie & Jon and that he was adorable & extremely sexy at the same time, plus he has a totally unexpected connection with the Knights that shocked me bad. For her part, Ellie is a girl we meet in this book, Spencer's girlfriend and who quickly falls in love with Jon, she is a flirtatious, cute & kind girl who loves baking, but behind her interesting personality she hides painful and unexpected truths that will make more than one of the boys willing to protect her, and I don't mean Jon & Spencer!

The relationship between Jon, Spencer & Ellie was not easy at all: they have to overcome lies, secrets and Spencer's enmity with the rest of the Knights, especially with Easton & Oz, in addition to the fact that along the way the boys discover more and more situations against them, but even with all that, the connection between the three is very strong: Spencer & Ellie show Jon the possibility of a different future from the one he imagined, and he gives them both the home and family they needed. These three have one of the hottest relationships I've ever read, but their attraction isn't just physical, the love between them is evident in the way the three seek to protect each other from everything and everyone, they're adorable together and I really think Jonny couldn't have had a better story.

But the love story is not the only important and unexpected thing in this book: Sundae Leighton shows us completely different sides of all her characters in Triple Layer, not only of Jonathan, allows us to see a happy Easton, just as reckless and vindictive, but much more open to understanding other people's circumstances, to an Oz increasingly upset with life, much dark and cruel, but with a huge and beautiful heart that I loved discovering, as well as revealing some of his secrets from the past, and of course we have much more drama thanks to my beloved Cash and the constant tension between him and Lenny and more broken hearts with the difficult situation that Jam & Josie live. And if all this were not enough, the number of twists and turns that the plot of the series has in this book alone was INCREDIBLE! You have to read it and love it.

**I haven't read the first 2 books in this series**

Though this isnt the usual lever of dark it is definitely one I have loved to read! I've loved getting to know the characters which i thought was a very easy thing to do specially with the writting style i have fallen in love with them specially Jon and spence! I found it very nicely evened out spice to plot - The spice doesn't over-ride the story! I love a book that can have the spice lowered or taken away and it still holds its story worth! I would however definitely recommend you guys reading the other two books first as I think your get a much better relationship with the characters and can also get a better character build up then what I did in the beginning! I am however looking forward to going back and reading the other 2 and correcting MY MISTAKE on that 😅

Triple Layer is the third installment in the Kingston High Series by Sundae Leighton and trust me when I say you are not going to want to miss it . So much suspense , darkness , intrigue, mystery , steam , angst , surprises, heartbreak, emotionally charge moments and much much more from the moment I started reading I was just so completely captivated not only with Ellie and Spencer but with the storyline as well , to say this is a emotional rollercoaster ride would be a understatement. I cannot even start to describe all the crazy emotions I felt while reading . I truly believe that to get the full experience of how phenomenal this book is you need to read it for yourself . I promise you will not be disappointed and I can guarantee once you start you will not able to stop .Triple Layer is a MMF Dark romance , it’s raw , gritty and true perfection.

Talk about a play on words. The title fits this to a "T".

This is Jonathan's story. And Sundae decided this was going to be the one to amplify the heart string pulls.

Spencer, we haven't seen him since book one and well, wasn't on the Knight's BFF list. So talk about going and making things so complicated!

Ellie is Spencer's girl, but since sharing is caring....we now have us a triple layer.

They each have a deep storyline that will make you fall in love with them, and some fall in love again with.

Of course we still follow all the other characters and see how they are progressing in live and I love when we don't leave anyone behind in a story.

The series has many layers and each book brings more of the characters to life. Go a head, give it a try.
