Fuel #2

Wreck

Rate this book
**Wreck is the second book in the brother’s-best-friend, friends-to-lovers Fuel Series by Ginger Scott.

When Dustin Bridges left Camp Verde to try to make it on his own, he left half his heart behind. A life with Hannah Judge was just too dangerous. A mountain of chaos and violence was always aiming for the target on Dustin’s back, and that made giving up the only person he ever loved feel necessary.

But impossible isn’t a word Dustin believes in. Defying odds is what he’s good at. It’s how he’s survived. And when fate calls him home, he sees it as his chance to take back his girl, to make his heart whole and to put his makeshift family back together.

Just one thing. That family? And more importantly, that girl? They want nothing to do with him.

When Dustin left Hannah without a word, he broke a promise. More than that, he broke a bond. He broke Hannah. The life she saw in her future was gone in a blink, and in its place she grew a heart of stone and a craving for danger.

But isn’t danger what Dustin Bridges is really all about?

Dustin has returned – and some fences have been mended. We might still be on shaky ground – but at least there’s hope and some flames burning. So don’t go and screw it up now.

Holy Moly!! I’ve been wrecked – and by the worst kind of cliffhanger! And just when you think things are looking up, too.

Well, I can’t say which side of the racetrack I fall on at this point– but I do know that I am sorely disappointed and thoroughly disgusted with Hannah. I know – I know that she has her reasons and I do have sympathy, but this isn’t the way to solve the problem. Of course, Dustin hasn't been completely upfront and honest either. Well, if I'm honest, there are too many secrets and full disclosure in the air from too many parties to this messy situation.

Hurry up July 30th – let’s get this race over with and on to what I hope will be happily-ever-after for both Hannah and Dustin. And lots of checkered flags as he crosses the finish line with win after win!

“We’re real, and we’re forever. And even the fucking hands of fate with all their destructive power can’t undo our destiny”

4 complicated stars

I loved the first book in this trilogy so much. I was completely swept up in the story of Dustin and Hannah, childhood friends who fell in mad love before they were torn apart due to circumstances beyond their control. This book is set four years after the end of the first, and we’re thrown right back into the intensity as Dustin returns to his home town of Camp Verde, and we gear up for the inevitable reunion with Hannah and her family.

It’s time for me to do the work, to earn my heart back and put it where it belongs.

A lot has changed since Dustin left, none more so than Hannah, who has taken her hurt and anger, and has channelled it into becoming a bit of an adrenaline junkie, living wild and doing her best to outrun her feelings.

Dustin Bridges broke me into a thousand and one pieces. And rather than putting them back together, I merely swept them to the side and invented a whole different me. His presence ruins that.

It’s not a happy reunion – with Hannah or with her family - and there is a lot of emotion as Dustin is once again with the people he hurt so badly, and with those who hurt him. But their bonds are tight, and there is still a lot of love between them, and I loved watching all of the interactions as he comes back into their lives. And, of course, I was glued to my kindle watching Dustin and Hannah together, as the childhood loves reconnect.

Hannah wants to hate me. And part of her definitely does. But most of her? She just can’t. Because we’re real, and we’re forever. And even the fucking hands of fate with all their destructive power can’t undo our destiny.

I love these two together, and watching them find their way back to each other is so gorgeous. They acknowledge pretty quickly that they haven’t gotten over each other. They know each other inside and out, their chemistry sizzles, and they are absolutely meant to be.

I’ve loved Hannah for so long that I don’t know how not to.

While Dustin is facing up to his past, he’s also looking to his future, and he’s working hard to make his dreams come true. He’s just landed the opportunity of a lifetime, and he’s making a deal to cement his legacy. But what will be the cost?

After reading Shift, I had so much love for these characters. I loved being back in their world, and Dustin owned my heart once again. But I’ve gotta say, I’m not a fan of the new Hannah. Some of her actions are a little questionable, she creates drama, angst, and so much frustration. And then there comes a twist in the story which send the series in a direction I’m so unhappy about. There’s one particular trope/storyline that I hate, and avoid wherever possible, and Ginger Scott has thrown it into this trilogy in a devastating turn of events. I’m gutted. I’m so mad, and I’m actually scared about how I’m going to cope with the next book. But I’m invested in these two as a couple, and even though I’m feeling so freaking ragey, and probably will through most of the next book, I do want to see how they get past everything and hopefully find their HEA.

I’m giving this book 4 stars, only because I’m discounting the ending. That cliffhanger is brutal, and I hate the way it ended, but up until that point I loved the story.

4 stars.

4.5 Series Stars

**SPOILER FREE TRILOGY REVIEW**

‘In life, people are lucky to experience once that feeling of completely and utterly falling in love. I’ve had the honor of feeling it three times, each with the same girl.’

The Fuel series by Ginger Scott had us compelled this week. There really is something about reading a series in one hit, everything is fresh, there’s no cliff-hanger to deal with and we never lost our momentum with the story. This is our personal preference of reading due to the vast number of books we already read, and for us personally, we never need to fear losing that intense emotional connection to the story as well as the characters. And wow did we have an intense connection with Hannah and Dustin.

‘Anyone seeing this right now is seeing love. They see a young lifetime of yearning and waiting, two souls meant to collide. They are seeing my heart break open to let this man in, let him own me. Again.’

We’re not quite sure why it felt like coming home as soon as we started reading Shift, perhaps a combination of the setting, atmosphere, the friends to lover romance, and of course the beautiful writing skills of Ginger Scott who nailed the emotions of that first teenage love, the raw intensity of familial struggles as well as the typical angsty youth navigating through life.

“Stay here. Stay tonight. Stay tomorrow. Stay always. Just…stay.”

Spanning years, this love story felt epic in its entirety. We felt like we’d run a marathon of feelings, moods, and emotions, making our way through a complicated and obstacle-filled landscape. It was not an easy journey, but the thrills, the love, the friendships, and hope shone like beacons and led the way. We fell in book love and every single instalment wowed us for different reasons. Though we do have to mention that when a pet peeve of ours occurred, it frustrated us no end. It was in our personal opinion a superfluous twist that was not necessary and was in fact character damning with the difficulty of redemption. Also, the reasons behind it were never really justified nor explored or resolved. We can’t say what it was as it’d be a spoiler but it’s something we take great issue with. Fortunately, it didn’t overshadow the greatness of this immense love story that had enough twists and turns to last a lifetime. We felt emotionally exhausted, but in a good way!

‘Everyone’s road is different. How we get from our beginning to our end isn’t a straight line, but if it were, how boring would that be? Our roads come with curves and accidents and lots of intersections – turning points…I haven’t driven it alone, though. I’ve never been alone, even when I thought I was. Hannah was there. Hannah’s always there. She always will be.’

Dustin’s story broke our hearts, an innocent young lad growing up under horrific circumstances, who seeks refuge from family toxicity with his best mate Tommy’s family. Tommy, his sister Hannah and Dusty became inseparable. Three kids growing up, thick as thieves chasing the thrills of racing with hope in their hearts and battles in the shadows. There is so much to this three-leaf clover friendship and the story. Beauty, sadness, and joy. Struggles and self-discoveries. Secrets and deceptions. But the one constant is the overwhelming love and passion! Spanning over a decade we felt like we were a part of Dusty and Hannah’s epic love story, the writing so amazing it evoked all our senses, all our emotions, and above all, all of our hearts.

‘I didn’t want anything to take this from Dustin. I wanted him to get what he earned, what he deserved. I always do. I always have.’

As we’re reviewing the entirety of the series we haven’t said too much, as spoilers are the bane of most readers’ existence, and we personally despise them ourselves. Truly experience this series as Ginger Scott intended and go forth and read, get stuck in another world of tears and laughter, it’s both quite the heart-warming and heart-breaking story of life, love, and the thrill of racing. We highly recommend #TeamEatMyDust and cannot express how intensely invested we were in Dustin and Hannah’s love story.

‘Because we’re real, and we’re forever. And even the fucking hands of fate with all their destructive power can’t undo our destiny…’

Can Dustin and Hannah make it work the second time around?
I had high hopes despite the obstacles.

This book takes place four years after book one, with the two separated and beginning to carve their own life paths. Dustin is gaining traction in the racing circuit, while Hannah has become a tougher heroine following her heartbreak. But when Dustin returns to town to settle some personal matters, they are forced back into each other's worlds, and recognize what they have missed.

What I liked best about this story was the growth both characters showed compared to book one. Yes, both have vulnerable moments, but they have become less dependent on others, building their confidence to take chances.

When Dustin is presented with a great opportunity to send his career into the next gear, there are influences that could ruin it all - Alex Offerman, a sleazy money man that can't be trusted, being number one, with Dustin's own personal demons being number two. How that opportunity is handled has some highs and lows, the lows possibly causing irreparable damage. I personally didn't like how Hannah handled things. It seemed to cause more harm than good, and we are left with another cliffhanger.

For book three, I'm feel like it is on Hannah to repair the damage between them, but we'll have to wait to see how things play out.

“Because we’re real, and we’re forever. And even the fucking hands of fate with all their destructive power can’t undo our destiny.”

I’m just going to put and say it—Wreck totally wrecked me! Dustin and Hannah completely tore my heart into pieces. The ending! I’m glad we don’t have to wait too long until the conclusion. I don’t think I could take it.

The book starts off four years later; after the ending of book one, we were all left heartbroken. Could these two soulmates ever find their way back to each other? Only one way to tell but so many things happen! Dustin and Hannah both have grown and changed so much. Yet, they’re both still the same. The feelings they have for each other can never go away. At least not for them.

Overall, Scott hit the spot. My heart is heavy and not fully satisfied until I can get more of our main characters. I have to know asap how everything turns out!

“We’re real and we’re forever.”

Oh. My. Yes! Ginger Scott’s Fuel series just keeps wowing me … owning me … slaying me. Holy fusion of fire and ice with all the feels! Beautifully broken and brilliantly told, Wreck blew me away! I was a goner for this romance that held my racing heart the whole time reading.

Set in the small town Arizona racing circuit, this coming-of-age romance continues with the characters now college-aged. Told by a teen hero and heroine destined to be each other’s forever, Wreck is an all-the-feels tale threaded with friendship, fate, and forever love. Intoxicating … irresistible… inevitable.

You’ll fall hard for the ruggedly handsome hero from the wrong side of the tracks who owns the race track, and the stunning and selfless heroine who is his equal in every way. A broken but healing heroine and a hero trying to right his wrongs. Two connected hearts and souls. You can’t help but revel in the sparks and soulful connection between Hannah and Dustin … feeling every emotion of these characters.

Heart-stopping sexy meets emotionally explosive in this roller coaster of a racer romance that surges straight to the soul. This story just oozes romance. You can’t help but feel the heartbeat of Wreck become your heartbeat too.

This thrilling and touching tale tugged at my heart every step of the way. I smiled, swooned, smoldered, and felt the burning angst. I felt that heart-to-soul rush while reading. I FELT EVERYTHING! This heart-racing romance swept me away. Please Wreck me again.

The Fuel saga has risen to one of my top 2021 and favorite sports romance series!

The second book begins with Dustin and Hannah both heartbroken and they seem to just be going through the motions of life.
They are a bit older and have been separated for four long years.
Dustin is back to take care of some things and it’s summer break for Hannah.

Everyone seems to be on the brink of big life decisions and opportunities. Change is in the air.

I was completely absorbed in their story, I felt for the characters. Their apprehensions, fears, regrets and hopes all are bubbling at the surface.
The longing and the heat between Hannah and Dustin is so powerful!
A real first love that didn’t really end.
True and deep relationships/friendships that were interrupted.
Their chemistry is amazing and the emotions are almost overwhelming.
I adore these characters and their “world” so much!
While reading, after some paragraphs and sentences I would go back and reread. The author writes really poignantly and in such a beautiful, subtle way I wanted to take the time to really feel what she was trying to get across with her words.
It is a treat to go on the journey with her characters.

~”We hold on to one another, a breath away from total forgiveness; a breath away from walking through the door to reclaim our past. Teetering in two worlds, the before and the after. For now, it feels like enough.~”

There’s a lot of emotions flying around with both the main and the wonderful secondary characters.
It’s a summer filled with the repercussions of the past. But, also of forgiveness and hope.

So much happens in the heat of the Arizona summer!
It was unpredictable and I loved every part of it!

The ending packed a huge emotional punch!
The characters surprised me late in the story.
I’m feeling a bit surprised and frustrated with one character’s decisions. I think the consequences for another are unfair, I’m curious to see how it plays out.
I’m feeling the agony and pain for both of them.
I adore all the characters so much!
I can’t wait for the conclusion of this story later this month.
I’ll be sad to say goodbye, but I’m hoping for an epic and satisfying ending for them all.
Such great characters, story and writing! I loved it!

OMFG. Ginger Scott you are killing me with these cliff hangers and having to wait for the next part, let alone the time jumps, but let me tell you IT IS WORTH EVERY EMOTION. I just devoured this book and just had to get my thoughts out of my mind. Wreck was even more intense (if possible) than Shift. We pick back up with Dustin and Hannah, their emotions never wavering, but the hurt, anger, and everything has been brewing for a long time and what happens when they finally come face to face? Dustin and Hannah have stolen my heart, filled it with love, broken it, put it back together, and now I am shattered having to wait for the next one, but like anyone, I am a glutton for punishment and will be counting down the days until I can finally see how their journey ends! I love the stories Ginger Scott creates, they pull you in, have you feeling everything the characters feel, yelling at them at times, crying, laughing, and swooning all over the soul connection these two have and cannot be denied! Read the second book in the Fuel series, it's worth lap around the track with adrenaline pumping waiting on the edge of your seat to see the outcome! Wreck is the perfect title, it will leave you in a wreck, but so worth the pain because soon the final book in the series will be here soon to see the fate of Dustin and Hannah (plus, that's always a sign to me that this book and these characters will stay with me).

I’m a wreck at this moment. I finished reading it and I felt like I was holding my breath throughout the whole thing.

My heart just freaking broke for Dustin and Hannah. They had grown up and they never ceased to love each other. I knew that this second book in the series would literally crush me. I really did.

This strong and incredible connection, a love of a lifetime but still young and fragile and damn it’s going to be tested. They might have grown up but I guess they haven’t learnt yet to give their heart wholeheartedly, with so many things going on in their lives and also with that anger and resentment, mostly part of the unsaid things. It just drove me crazy.

Their journey made my heart race.
I went through a range of emotions and I wanted them to find their ways as a couple but also as individuals. Their story definitely needed time to grow and to make it to the final line.

I guess I fell more in love with this couple, who wasn’t perfect for sure and they tried to learn from their mistakes. They were both passionate, hot tempered at times but driven by this consuming and inevitable chemistry, unconditional love.
I really hope to see their relationship grow closer and bring that ending that would melt my heart.

Their race had so many curves and obstacles in the way and the drama might have been somehow a little over the top to me but surprisingly I couldn’t put it down. The author just managed to convey emotions in such a way, powerful and intense.

The ending left me speechless and utterly crazy with more questions for the final book. I can’t wait for the final confrontation and to finally see them laying their hearts out. I want the next book like yesterday!!!!

After book 1 ended I got annoyed at the to be continued and opened book 2 Good thing I waited. The ending of one had me SO mad. I can't say why but I will say that this went in a totally crazy spin. I can say that Mrs Judge-Amanda exceeded my expectations of being a self centered b*tch. Hannah has not had things easy and she did nothing to support her only daughter.

Dustin's story also took a strange turn. Who would have thought ? Colt did what I thought he would do as well as Trish. Loser parents who let others raise their son.

Tommy and Hannah grow up, mature and learn to deal with each other. It is Bailey that surprises me again. This girl is a pillar of strength and positivity for Hannah.

Another great one! It ends with...to be continued, no fears I got book 3 here

Heartbreak and secrets, Hannah and Dustin continue their journey apart after the jaw dropping ending to the first book, you want them together so badly, but outside forces, pride, and things kept in the dark push and pull them in a dizzying spin. I inhaled the words, and felt every emotion, Dustin and Hannah are the couple to read this year!!

This is the first time I don’t give a Ginger Scott book 5 stars. Ever. I’m literally in shock right now. I always get nervous reading her books because she knows how to inflict pain sometimes, but I feel like there’s no coming back from this one. Wtf!!??!

Had to go back and change review as I’m on book 3 and better understand the ending to part 2.

Ginger Scott has my heart racing on high octane in Book 2 of her Fuel series, "Wreck".

"Dustin Bridges broke me into a thousand and one pieces. And rather than putting them back together, I merely swept them to the side and invented a whole different me."

Its been four years that Dustin has been gone, and Hannah is noe more of an adrenaline junkie, trying to fill the void that Dustin left. But when Dustin drives back into her life, will it be a race to the finish, before he leaves again? Or will it be a Sunday stroll, enjoying the scenery and taking their time. Add in secrets from the past and a high rolling thug, named Alex, and Dustin and Hannah might be heading for a major wreck.

"In life, people are lucky to experience once that feeling of completely and utterly falling in love. I've had the honor of feeling it three times, each with the same girl."

In this sequel, Ginger Scott moves the characters into a more adulthood scenario so the sexual tension has definitely increased, but the story is just as well written and well created as all of her other books. Every new book that Ginger Scott writes is another new favorite book and this one is now my new favorite by her...until Burn, the final in Fuel series comes out.

"But Dustin has infected me. He's in my blood, a poison and a cure." Will Dustin turn out to be poison or a cure to Hannah's life.

The first book in the series was explosive and outstanding. Dustin and Hannah were amazing characters. I loved the difficult themes and the romance between them. The first book was steamy and so sweet. The ending was gut wrenching, but you wanted more.

Unfortunately, for this book, I just couldn't connect with either of the characters. I liked Dustin more in this book. He grew up. Hannah, though, was hard. I really didn't enjoy her much. She was way too stubborn, and it irked me.

The romance pacing also wasn't the greatest. I felt it was rushed and things fell apart suddenly. There wasn't anytime to see why this couple truly were together and that sucked. I am rooting for them because I see a flame, but this time I didn't.

The steamy scenes were there, and that was good. However, what really turned me off was the ending. It contained a trope I normally didn't enjoy at all. And the action of Hannah towards the end, didn't make me like her at all. Despite the dismal ending, I really enjoyed the secondary characters. I loved Tommy a lot. I loved how Hannah struggled with the relationship with her parents.

Even though I couldn't connect with the book, I still highly recommend you check out this series. I cannot wait to see what happens in the final book :Burn.

The story in this book is about the reunion of Justin and Hannah. With the way Justin left and Hannah's feeling, I expected Hannah to be harder to get than this and the plot has nothing intriguing as it should be because it is too cliche. Plus almost everyone in this book seem to have their own secrets so I also expected something dark and angsty but it is not much as I think. I have lost interest in the book after reading about 50% of it and skimmed reading it through the end. This is so hard for me because Ginger Scott is one of my favorite authors but after I read this book which is the second book of the trilogy, I think its plot can be written and end in just a duet though so I decide to give this book 3 stars.

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I was so angry at Dustin in in the end of shift. During wreck my melted away. Now I've finished wreck and so mad ay both characters and I'm swearing in my head and in person. Both of them are wrong in the way they are handling these situations. I'm so disappointed in both z Dustin snf and Hannah right now.

I'm sorry but, I didn't really like this 2nd book. I stopped reading this around chapter 4 and 5. I just couldn't get into the book. I wanted to, I adore the books from Ginger Scott, but I just couldn't. I got irriated with the main characters and I didn't want to. Maybe, I just needed to be in the right mind set to read this book. But, I do know this is the 2nd book in the trilogy and the next book we will meet them a little bit older than now.

This is a great second book to the series. There are more funny lines and I enjoyed the cinematic feels. I have given it three stars as it is a bit repetitive in places where I think we are hit over the head by how much they love each other and that wasn’t necessary. I look forward to reading the next book and hope that is isn’t more of the same declarations of love and more actual story.

5 WRECK STARS!! I am wreck....because I want more. This series is so good and waving the flag for more. Dustin and Hannah will take you on the race of your life, so buckle up and hold on. Ginger Scott is one of my favorites and this series is why.

This was not a bad book for me, I like the author's writing style and the story's premise. Unfortunately, there were two things I did not like:

- Hannah tells Dustin off for two pages and then almost instantly forgives him for vanishing a few years ago without a word. She even seeks him out. I don't like when the FMC has internal monologues about what a bad idea it is to get close to the MMC - but then proceeds to do exactly that. It made it difficult to take her character seriously. It also did not help that Hannah wasn't a very interesting character in general.

- the ending. We were told repeatedly how Hannah and Dustin are meant to be, love each other and how they will stay together forever. Then at the end Hannah finds out new information by chance, she breaks up with Dustin and......they don't see each other for years and she keeps a major secret from him?! They didn't even have a conversation and Dustin just gave her up..... after loosing her once already and being lucky enough to win her back?! This behaviour made no sense for two people who supposedly love each other. The reason for the break-up was not good enough for them to separate without a fight. After this abrupt ending I could no longer take these characters or their bond serious - their behaviour seemed stupid and weak and their feelings superficial.

The issue for me was that the author broke this couple up twice for several years and that the second break up was unnecessary and based on miscommunication. It's difficult to have even one convincing break-up in a story without making the relationship look shallow. This also made Hannah's and Dustin's story repetitive as the 3rd book seems to follow a similar pattern to this book.

I do like the author's writing style, she has a special way with words and can make settings and scenes come alive. I really enjoyed her Waiting Series which for me was an example of how to successfully write a book series that follows the same characters and shows the growth and development of their relationship over the years. Unfortunately this series didn't work for me as I could not relate to the characters and their actions in the end.
