Linnea May's Violent Cravings reinforces my belief that the entire subgenre of billionaire/virgin BDSM romance is built on a solid bed of empty vessels. Accordingly, today's virgin has no goals, no plans, no education, no money, no sexual experience, no hobbies, no interests, no self-esteem, and one plot-irrelevant friend. She does have good looks and a whole lot of someone else's medical debt, which primes her perfectly for the offer that will correct all those nos. But it leaves a lingering question that has plagued me throughout my journey across the Spankherverse: Would she take such an offer, or even get one in the first place, if she had her life together and was reasonably content?

Hilariously, the epigraph at the beginning of the book is a passage from Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra, which has nothing to do with sex. But it did make me laugh at the idea of the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey playing in the background while the hero's boner rises. Monolith, indeed.

Our heroine is Laura. I'll continue to spell her name as Laura, but my headcanon is that she pronounces it LAOUWGH-ra, like the guy from 365 Days does. You'll find out later why I thought of him. She's a cater-waitress at an event for the Onyx Corporation, "the biggest business empire in town." And now,



1. Laura meets the hero, Ryan, like this:

a) She calmly introduces herself when he takes a flute of champagne from her tray.
b) She physically collides with him, nearly spilling a drink on him.
c) She burrows into one of his nostrils and builds a small nest there.

2. Ryan looks like this:

a) Sandy hair, brown eyes, average build, sport shirt and khakis.
b) Teal-and-purple Skrillex haircut, contact lenses resembling David Bowie's alien eyes from The Man Who Fell to Earth, 350 lbs., ratty bathrobe and bunny slippers.
c) Black hair, blue eyes, BUILT, expensively tailored suit.

3. Ryan thinks this of Laura:

a) Her striking yet unassuming beauty makes his cock stir.
b) Absolutely nothing. She's a waitress. Whatever.
c) She's a total uggo who in no way lives up to the many fake-titted blondes currently lining up to suck his dick and spend his money.



Ryan only has sex once a year, always with an employee of a very selective escort service. None of this year's lineup has gotten him whirring like Laura. She tries to "scurry away" after apologizing for the near-spill, but "his hands tightens (sic) around [her] upper arm, almost digging painfully into [her] flesh" before she can. She snaps at him to let go. He refuses, ordering her never to dare turning away from him or speaking to him like that. Laura, get thee to the carvery station and treat him like the roast beef. All Ryan gets before she finally escapes is her name and a confirmation that waitressing is her only occupation. I think he wanted to find out if she was also a prostitute, which would make him feel better, but even if she were, does he really think she'd tell him that?

He does slip her his card at the end of the night, telling her to call so they can discuss a "proposal" he has for her. She's not sure what that might mean, but it does occur to her that it might mean "a date." He's the first guy she's ever found attractive enough to consider fucking, so she decides to call and find out:

...what did he mean by "proposal"? I have to find out. I have to. I owe it to myself, maybe I even owe it to fate, destiny, whatever you want to call it. Someone like him doesn't cross my path on an everyday basis.

You don't have to, Laura. You really don't. Just say you want to. It's fine.

They meet for coffee, where Ryan offers to pay Laura for sex. She slaps him across the face, yells at him for trying to take advantage of a poorly paid waitress, and stalks out. Ryan spends the evening sobbing and jerking off. They never see each other again.



It's not just sex he wants. More specifically:

"I want you to give yourself to me. For one night, just one night.... [Sex] would be part of it. But not all of it. A simple fuck is not what I want--need--from you."

He also wants her to fold his laundry and water his plants. Oh, and he needs her to go ahead and just wipe down the kitchen counters. And feed the cat. Thaaaaanks.

Laura has never been a submissive before and has no idea if she'd like it. But being with him in any way is too exciting to pass up. And she'd get $750,000, plus extra if she lets him do butt stuff. I know that last part sounds like something I made up, but I swear I didn't. She's bewildered that he presents her with a full legal contract to sign. As she should be, because such a contract is NOT LEGALLY ENFORCEABLE. Either way, she's horny and broke, so she's ready to agree to whatever he wants.



They go to "one of [his] places" for dinner the next night. The sex won't happen tonight; this is more of a very costly, obligation-filled consultation. Laura can't tell Ryan what her hard limits are, because she doesn't know what that means. "Your innocence is as alluring as it is exhausting," he sighs.

Let's backtrack:

Buying an experienced whore to play a part she's familiar with is one thing--paying a girl who's never done this type of thing before, a girl who won't fake it--can't fake it--a girl whose submission will be brutally honest and raw, that's a whole new story.

At least as brutal as your punctuation, Ry-Ry. But you signed up to have sex with a non-sub. You get what you pay for.

Ryan usually calls his one-offs "slut," but Laura's not into that. She suggests her own damn name, but he's not into that. So call her "Christy" or "Sabrina," Ryan. They decide on "doll," which is actually even better, considering.



And Ryan introduces Laura to "sub space" with his hand around her throat, as if he were a 16-year-old who learned all he knows about sex from the less ethical porn aggregators. She's ready to sign immediately after that. Kinksters, is it really this easy for a person to decide that the sub space is a place they want to visit?

Using Ryan's initial $250,000 deposit, Laura dresses in Valentino, Piaget, and Jimmy Choo for the official... whatever term we've invented for a single night of first-time BDSM. I propose "bang-a-palooza." His driver picks her up and instructs her to wear the provided black silk blindfold. Does Ryan care if his staff can very easily guess what he's into? I'm rolling this story back about 100 years:

"I believe I'll have the gold butt plug, Bates. And the Spanish leather whip. I'm rather tired of the Italian."

"Shall I apply the lube to your lordship's butt plug tonight?"

"No, I'll do that myself this time. Just to reassure Lady Grantham, you know."

"Your attention to her ladyship's rectum does you credit, m'lord."

Laura did well to pick a red dress for the evening, because it matches the decor of Ryan's fuck room. Original! He thinks she's been "blessed with a beauty that most women would kill for" but lacks the confidence to back it up: "Her toes are pointed inward, giving her posture an awkward and infantile stance."



He spends the rest of this chapter teaching her how to walk like a model. Laura makes a Tyra Banks joke before I can. She rolls her eyes at this comparison, resulting in her first spanking, which she starts to enjoy soon enough. And so does he:

As my eyes travel up to meet his, I detect a noticeable bulge in his crotch. He's hard. This is turning him on!

Duh. Why else would he do it? Really, Ryan, you should have started with something simpler for this one. Like physiotherapy for her foot positioning.

They resume the model training. Her shoulders slump once, so he breaks out the cane. Do I even need to describe how bad this guy is at being a Dom? He rewards Laura for her improved posture with oral. She climaxes despite his explicit orders not to, and he punishes her for it the only way he knows how. Like, the ONLY way.



Next: a facial. Okay, I'm officially convinced that "Linnea May" is a guy. They break so he can slowly feed her some sushi while she's still shackled to the bed and encrusted in his cum. "This is without a doubt the strangest meal I've ever eaten," she thinks. The strangest meal you've eaten so far, Laura. The things he does when he has a craving for tacos are simply unspeakable.

Ryan scolds Laura for not having warned him that she was a 22-year-old virgin. Not that it matters, because the butt plug is next. This time, on only her second try, she succeeds in refraining from her orgasm. Kinksters, your comment? Then Ryan makes her practice her model walk again, with the butt plug still inside her and vibrating, but she gets it right. Ryan reflects:

She's such a beautiful girl, but for some reason, she chooses to hide that God-given beauty from everyone. I wonder why. Was she bullied as a teenager? Or is she afraid of drawing the wrong kind of attention to herself?

If the latter, we can hardly blame her. She might end up attracting some weirdo who pays for sex on a regimented schedule and moves way too fast with the props. But Laura has lamented her height and how it's gotten in the way of her prospects before.



Next: doggy-style. Awesome during, but disappointing after when Laura remembers that it's only a one-night deal. Oh, dear, have we caught feelings already? And more importantly, WHY?

Obviously some time has passed, because Ryan is ready for more food. This time he allows Laura to decide what she wants to eat. She frets that her cravings wouldn't be fancy enough for him. She frets so long that Ryan threatens another punishment if she doesn't come up with something. She blurts out that she wants pizza, which he eagerly accepts. Turns out rich weirdos like pizza too! Yay!

Ryan thinks about how shy Laura is when she asks him about his previous bang-a-paloozas. He compares her unfavorably with the "whores" of yore. He uses "whores" so often that he really should redecorate his fuck room to look like Littlefinger's brothel. And Laura's not the only one catching feelings:

I hate that she doesn't realize how special she is to me, no matter the circumstances. At the same time, I'm aware that I can't tell her either. She shouldn't know because it would make things a lot harder than they already are. I will have to let go of her tomorrow evening, and just thinking about it makes my stomach turn.

Again, WHY?

Laura stays the night. Ryan brings her breakfast in bed, but she's such a good sub already that she asks for permission to wear a robe and pour him coffee. They get to talking about how she had to drop out of college to support her now-deceased cancer mom. There's absolutely no mention of a father, which explains a lot.



Next, with only a few quick descriptions: St. Andrew's cross, nipple clamps, bed fuck, shower fuck, rope play. In the middle of the last of these, Laura tells Ryan that she's moving back to California soon. He tries not to dwell on his "stupid fantasies" of monogamy "like a fucking sissy." But in the next chapter, we learn he's spent the next year doing just that, even though neither he nor Laura has reached out to one another.

You know, maybe I'm just not romantic enough for this genre, but if you're going to pine over each other for that long, you should spend more than 36 hours together first. Even Nicholas Sparks gives his couples at least a week!

Ryan is in a meeting with the execs of a company he's about to acquire, but he couldn't give less of a fuck. We're reintroduced to his irritating male assistant, inexplicably named Lemon. His only purpose is to try keeping Ryan focused on businessy business things. He's astute enough to see that Ryan's pining is clouding his judgment, so he suggests that Ryan replace "the waitress" with a new whore.



Meanwhile, Laura is in LA, preparing to celebrate her two-month anniversary with a "really nice, attentive, smart, and good-looking" guy, which means she's going to shoot him out of a catapult real soon. I know that makes me sound like an incel, but we all know she will. She's been able to live off Ryan's money so far, so she hasn't gotten a job, and she doesn't know what kind of job she'd look for. And with that money nearly gone to pay off her mom's medical bills, she can't afford to go back to school. I'd think more highly of these books if they were intended to be an indictment of the US health care system. We can't all have sexy billionaires clearing our debts!

Ryan flies to LA because he can't live another day without her. He follows her to the park where she's hiking, and they reunite with a tearful exchange of "My doll" and "My master." I hope no one was around to hear that, because that would have gotten a guffaw from me. They fuck on a park bench. Comfy.

By the next chapter, Laura has taken Ryan's jet back to whatever city they were in before. After two or three days of nonstop sex, he confesses to her that he's been a legit sex addict for years, and he stuck to the once-a-year system to curb his cravings. The addiction started with his first partner, Sandria, who he kidnapped and forcibly confined so he could fuck her at will. Neighbors heard her screaming and got her out, and he was arrested for it. After that he poured all his sexual energy into starting his company, which did more to "help" him than any actual treatment could do. And that worked until he met Laura, who's so amazing that, if necessary, he'd probably kidnap and confine her too.



But it's not necessary! Laura says so herself!

"What you call obsession, I call dedication, or commitment. I like that you want me this much. I like that you came all the way to California to see me, and I like that you brought me back here and claimed me all to yourself.... As sad as it may be, master, I really have nowhere else to be. I don't want to be anywhere else but here with you. Maybe that's what's making it so easy for me to forgive you.... I can finally see a place in life for me. Right next to you, Ryan."

See, that's what was wrong with Sandria. She had somewhere else to be.

My God, Laura. You are truly a wisp of a shell of a husk of a nothing of a person.

She does spend the next six months making herself marginally useful as Ryan's unpaid unofficial secretary. She's applied to several colleges and gotten into one of them. Ryan is supportive. Of what, I'm not sure either of them knows, because nobody mentions a major or the professional goal it would serve. The book ends with their engagement.



Was I in a significantly better place in my life at 22 than Laura was? I was starting to hate my job, but it was enough to pay my rent, and it put my degree to use. I was getting bored with my sexually incompetent boyfriend, but I at least had a body count. I was desperate to leave my hometown, but I had an idea of what I might want to do with myself when I did. If nothing else, I had laid the groundwork to be in a better place. And even if I hadn't, I valued that possibility too much to view "billionaire's doll" as a viable alternative to the place I was in.

Then again, I grew up in Canada, where sky-high medical bills are much less of a thing. Maybe that would have tipped the balance.

This is the second one I’ve read from this series, and a lot of the same thing. Parts were hot, but it wasn’t overly exciting. I did love that the heroine was a tall girl like me, and the author did a great job of portraying the insecurity that can go along with that, which is what made it slightly better than average. Not a bad time-filler, but also not anything that will really stick with me 🤷‍♀️

Laura is a young girl that is just trying to make life better. She is working 3 jobs try to pay off debts from college, her mother's cancer and just trying to live day to day. When she is waitress at a gala she is noticed by Ryan a very handsome and noticeable man.

Ryan is a self-made billionaire. He doesn't like to be in the public eye and hates galas. When he comes across Laura, someone so different then he has ever met. He wants her right away, he craves her right away, and he knows this is bad for him. He does not do this. He has a retreat once a year, where he gets a woman from an escort service and does what he needs/wants to her and then goes about his business the rest of the year. Having someone "normal" would mess that all. But he can't get over her, he has to have her.

It was pretty rough with the scenes in the story. BDSM is suppose to be reciprocal with safe words Ryan was moving to extreme to the point that I felt it was criminal. It was a bit much for me it made me cringe to much.

This one was better than the first. We saw more of what they were like outside of play after accepting each other completely. Sure, there may be some things that some would see as messed up, but anyone that understands the dynamics of a true dom/sub relationship will understand that a doms main job is to nurture and take care of their sub. The fact that they may want to see their sub tied up and helpless while they give that care, is pretty par for the course. Of course, in a dom/sub relationship, each is free to define their own terms of soft or hard lines. What is acceptable and what isn't. If any of the complainers decide they might want to try it, but can't see doing some of the things here then draw your lines and if the partner is agreeable to those lines it's all good. But outsiders have no place trying to define what they are seeing in terms of normal relationships. D/s relationships can not be compared. They work very differently. Many times even more healthier as most entail extensive communication and trust. Something missing from most normal relationships.

This one just didn't click for me. There was also too much internal monologue for my tastes. So much so I started to skim their thoughts.

Safety -
*once a year he pays an escort to be his plaything for 24 hours. That's the only time he has sex with someone else. She's the first time he has picked someone besides and escort - but she still got paid. It's always a different girl and he never has contact with them once the time is up. He does this because he is a sex addict and he becomes obsessed with the woman he is seeing. He learned his lesson because he kidnapped a collage girlfriend and kept her against her will. He becomes obsessed and all he would want to do his keep the girl with him and fuck her. His cravings become out of control - consumes his life were all he wants and thinks is about her.
*One year separation. He was with nobody else of course. She had a boyfriend of two months, but didn't have sex with him.
*When it was that time a year again when he looks for another plaything. He does look at escorts but none interest him because he wants her. he goes after her to see if she would spend more time with him.
*After they are reunited he kinda holds her against her will for a 4? days. Keeps her locked in the playroom and won't answer any of her questions. But she really don't care that much because it's were she wants to be.
*They find a compromise and have an HEA.

I knew from the blurb that this was going to be an interesting story, with some alpha deliciousness to boot, but I didn't know how complex the hero was going to turn out to be and how in-depth the story was going to be. The hero, Ryan, organizes sex with a random woman once a year to fulfill his specific needs and urges. He never has the same woman twice and the session lasts for only 24 hours. However, when he sees and interacts with Laura at an event, all his rules become null and void, even though he fights it as hard as he can. He propositions her, even though she's not from the agency he normally uses.

I found the circumstances around this story intriguing. There is a mystery behind the hero that takes some time to be revealed, but as it does you begin to understand his actions and motivations. I loved watching the hero deal with his demons and struggle with the feelings growing for this woman he only had for 24hours. I also loved everything that unfolded after and how she helped him to overcome the main source of his struggle. I can't say much more without spoiling it. All I can say is.... read it!

Can she give him her most prized possession? Ryan is obsessive, controlling and kinky. He is mysterious and you wonder what has made him the way he is. The attraction is electric and intense. Can Laura survive this dark and mysterious man? Can Ryan stick to his rules? This book was sinfully sexy, with loads of emotions. The characters will grow on you. The writing flowed and the BDSM romance will hold you captive. Overall an intriguing read.

This book touched on more of the realness of BDSM and sex addiction. The pain psychological and physical.

Laura falls for Ryan, who is an aggressive dominant, who also happens to be a sex addict. He wants submission in any and all ways. Laura falls for Ryan, but her love for him comes at a cost, her freedom, because Ryan is more broken than he lets on.

“I know I shouldn’t pursue my sick thoughts, my fantasies, but I can’t help it. I can’t help imagining her, on her knees, tied up, purple and red marks blossoming on her pale skin where I’ve marked her, tears flowing from her dazed eyes, as she pants breathlessly with desperate, heated lust.
“F#%k,” I hiss, shaking my head, as if that could clear my mind.
My c#ck is hardening at the mere thought. I inhale audibly, trying to force my mind on something else, so I’ll be able to get up and greet her like a gentleman once she appears.”

The sex scenes were just that. Pure hard core f#%king. No roses or sweet dates, just unbridled, rough banging till Laura was covered in black and blue marks and welts across her ass.
Now I love rough sex, but this bordered on psychotic at times, where even I was cringing. -1★

STORY:
If you’ve read BDSM before, you won’t find anything extraordinary or unique about this story. VIOLENT CRAVINGS is the story of your typical, rich Dominant who refuses to commit to anything more than once a year sex, unexpectedly falling for a virgin waitress. Like I had with the first book in this series, I hoped this one would be darker, especially with the word “violent“ in the title. However, there wasn’t anything violent or super dark about this book either. It is quick, sexy and fun though!

PERFORMANCE:
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Ellie McClendon and Holden Still. Both Narrator’s were absolutely fabulous! Aside from the way she pronounces TOUSLED, McClendon’s performance was spot-on! I don’t believe I’ve ever listened to anything by Mr. Still but I definitely plan to again in the future!

I liked the timeline of the story, that it didn't focus on only one night. I thought Mr. Hawkins' character flaw was believable, and not one you see tackled in books very often. The mystery of what happened that made him set these rules for himself kept me reading, waiting to find out and see how Laura would react. Laura may have been passive for much of the story, but she redeemed herself once she realized she would have to take control of the situation in order to help him.

She is a tall woman, so tall she is unsure of herself, and always wears flats, and she slouches when she walks. She doesn't realize how beautiful👸 she really is.

Ryan Hawkins🐺🍌🌋👋💔💪, tall, handsome, and driven young alpha CEO, has his own personal problems to deal with. He is a raging dominant💪, but he stays away from women all the time except for one 🌙night a year. He pays for the female companionship, because he wants to dominate and punish the woman and by contracting with her, he can assure she will obey and submit to his demands.
When he spies Laura at the dinner he attends, he knows he wants her this time, not a professional escort. Laura is fascinated by him when he comes up to talk to her. She has no idea who he is. When he gets up to give a speech, she is awed.
He gives her his card and the chase is on. He invites her to lunch to give her his proposal. Basically it's pay for play, pay for submission.

Wow what an intense read❣
I received an arc for this to read and review and what a pleasure it was to read I couldn't put it down.
Ryan is an intense character but one I fell in love with from the start. He's hiding something which was making me guess absurd thought about him but with time you will find out what it is he's hiding (you'll have to read to find out as I'm not spoiling anything 😉)
Laura is quite a shy character and hiding within herself and maybe with a little help from Ryan she might just find herself or will his secret destroy her (again read to find out)
I loved violent cravings so much I couldn't sleep until I finished it I had to know what he was hiding I needed to know why he's the was he is and does the things he does❣
I 100% recommend this book you will not be disappointed ❣

Consumed by his new obsession...

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Violent Cravings written by Linnea May and voluntarily reviewed this book. This is the second installment of this author's Dark Billionaire Romance series. This story features another successful businessman, owner of Onyx Corporation Ryan Hawkins, who has always religiously adhered to his sexual-release ritual, his "annual retreat," through the use of a girl chosen from the Violent Delights catalog. However, as soon as he spies Laura Brown serving at his company's event, he knew he was going to break all his own rigid rules just to have this girl...at all costs.

For Laura, she had no idea what to expect from Ryan when he approached her at the end of that night, but her curiosity was piqued enough to answer to the attraction she had felt upon seeing and speaking with him. Finally agreeing upon a meeting with him, she receives a proposal that she just could not say no to, especially since her heart already knew that this was the someone special she could have been waiting for.

Each has a past that has left them somehow broken and defeated in enough of a capacity that they couldn't function, except to continue moving forward the only way they could until their paths crossed serendipitously. Then, they willingly allowed themselves to experience many firsts with each other, finding what they were lacking their lives even though they were together a very brief period of time, but with Ryan fighting what he ultimately wanted and needed throughout their time together. Laura comes away from the encounter much changed for the better, but ultimately missing the piece of herself that she had given over to Ryan.

This was another hot and very engaging story by one of my now-favorite authors, with well-defined characters and a sexy-but-wicked Cinderella-esque storyline that steadily drew me in!

I enjoyed this story! It's a little darker but nothing too bad. It is heavy on the BDSM though. Ryan has had a problem with obsession before and it taking over too much of his life. He has since try to come up with a system to avoid this happening again. He fulfills his darker/BDSM desires once a year with someone that he picks out of a catalog that matches his preferences and turns the rest of his focus to work. It has worked for years but then he runs into Laura one night while she is serving at a foundation party. Ryan is very drawn and attracted to her and can't just let it go. He chooses her to be his next one and they negotiate something that works for both of them. It doesn't follow exactly what Ryan normally does and of course during their 24 hours together they both get attached. They both follow through with the terms of the deal, at least for awhile. I enjoyed the way that the story was put together. It's very explicit and does feature some of the more hardcore BDSM elements. It works for both characters though, which is what makes it work for me. I thought the story had a great pace and it kept me engaged and entertained while I was reading it. It was different than I had read before because it is on the verge of him being a criminal for what he's doing, wanting to do, but he isn't and so he is trying to walk that line. The other books I've read that are similar are one's where the main character is a "criminal" and doesn't care about it. I liked the take and differences in this one and thought it was well done. This story is definitely not for everyone as it is a little on the darker side so just be aware but I really enjoyed it and it's well written.

Linnea May has become one of my go-to authors! These books are just freaking awesome. WARNING: there are triggers of BDSM and mild kidnapping if you read this book you will understand.

Laura is a young/virgin girl that is just trying to make life better (ya we hear that a lot) she is working 3 jobs try to pay off debts from college, her mother's cancer and just trying to live day to day. When she is waitressing at a gala she is noticed by Ryan a very handsome and noticeable man.

Ryan is a self-made billionaire. He doesn't like to be in the public eye and hates galas. When he comes across Laura, someone so different then he has ever met. He wants her right away, he craves her right away, and he knows this is bad for him. He does not do this. He has a retreat once a year, where he gets a woman from an escort service and does what he needs/wants to her and then goes about his business the rest of the year. Having someone "normal" would mess that all. But he can't get over her, he has to have her.

When Laura is offered a proposition by Ryan she has no idea what she is walking into. She has an idea, of course, it is all there in writing. But when emotions (even after only 24 hrs) come up after so much sexual charge, what do you do with that.

Now that is where the story really begins. This book is HOT sexy, dirty, sad, lovely, and just wonderful. I didn't want to put this book down and thank goodness I didn't have to!

Konečne som sa mohla vrhnúť na pokračovanie série od autorky Linnea May. A musím podotknúť, že táto druhá časť ma bavila o čosi viac. Kniha sa veľmi rýchlo číta, keďže obsahuje krátke kapitoly. Ak ste čítali prvú časť tejto série (Prudká Rozkoš) asi viete, že nemôžete očakávať žiadnu romantiku a to platí aj pri tejto časti, pod názvom Horúca Túžba.

Príbeh obsahuje opäť nespočetné množstvo tvrdších intímnych scén, ktoré k tejto sérii jednoducho patria. A chápem, že nie všetkým môžu takéto scény vyhovovať, ale autorka sa s týmito scénami veľmi dobre vyhrala. Keďže je príbeh rozprávaný z oboch pohľadov, tak som mala možnosť pozrieť sa na vec očami hlavného hrdinu aj hrdinky. Obe hlavné postavy Ryan a Laura boli v celku zaujímavé postavy. Ryan bol muž, ktorý si zakladá vo svojom intímnom živote na pravidlách a tu zistíte aj to, čo všetko ho k tomu viedlo. Autorka mu vymyslela veľmi zaujímavú minulosť, len veľká škoda, že to všetko bolo rýchlo zhrnuté. Keby sa s jeho minulosťou este viac vyhrá príbeh by bol pre mňa ešte viac záživnejší. Laura bola v príbehu vykreslená ako sivá myška, no aj ona ukáže, čo sa v nej skutočne skrýva. Zápletka v tomto príbehu sa mi o čosi viac páčila ako v prvej časti, no opäť aj v tejto časti sa všetká pozornosť sústredila na intímne scény na úkor deja.

Čo mi ale na príbeh vadilo najviac bol SK preklad niektorých slov pri intímnych scénach, pretože fakt som veľakrát nad tým musela prevracať oči.

Avšak príbeh sa mi veľmi dobre čítal a ak hľadáte pikantnejšiu oddychovku bez nejakej veľké zápletky, tak smelo do toho.

Prvá časť kniha ma príliš nenadchla ale siahla som aj po druhej časti. Nemala som žiadne očakávanie od knihy ale ostala som milo prekvapená. Napočudovanie to nebolo až tak zlé čítanie.
Postavy sa mi páčili. Už neboli plytké ako v prvej knihe. Mali zaujímavé charaktery a zaujímala som sa o ich minulosť aj budúcnosť.
Miestami som mala pocit, že knihu napísal niekto iný, než prvú knihu. Príbeh bol síce podobný, ale dej bol zaujímavejší a naozaj sa tam niečo dialo.
Oceňujem dialógy, ktorých tu bolo naozaj dostatok a boli to dialógy, ktoré mali aj zmysel a netočili sa len okolo sexu. Dozvieme sa o minulosti postáv aj to, čo ich ťaží alebo znepokojuje.
Erotické scény autorka aj tento krát zvládla bravúrne a neraz som sa sama červenala nad napísaným textom.
Aj tu nám príbeh rozpráva o bohatom chlapovi Ryanovi, ktorý má trošku zvláštne chúťky. Na druhej strane nájdeme Lauru, trocha neokresanú dievčinu, ktorá hneď Ryana zaujme. Kniha je rozdelená na 3 časti. V prvej sa zoznámime s postavami a pozrieme sa na ich „spojenie“. Ďalšia kapitola sa deje o rok neskôr, a ukáže nám ako aj po rozlúčení na seba nevedeli prestať myslieť. A poslednej časti sa samozrejme znova stretnú. Koniec príbehu sa mi páčil a mala som radosť z toho ako obe postavy dopadnú.
Ak sa mi do rúk dostane aj ďalšia časť a znova jej dám šancu. Táto časť ma naozaj prekvapila, a hoc nedostane vysoké hodnotenie, oproti prvej časti je to neskutočná zmena.

This was such a good book! It has everything you want in a dark erotic romance: a broken, tortured alpha male, the woman brave enough to accept him and love him, flaws, intricacies, and all, and really, really HOT sex!! I was first introduced to Linnea May with Violent Delights, and let me tell you, I thought I was in love with Joseph, the hero from that book, but Ryan stole my heart in this one. Ryan is a self-made, wealthy man who only allows himself to indulge in the type of D/s sex that he craves, once a year, and never with the same woman twice. Laura is working as a waitress when they meet and the sparks/chemistry was there instantaneously. Laura had suffered her own fair share of heartache and though she's not a risk-taker, she agrees to Ryan's proposal of being owned by him for a night. Giving oneself completely over to another, trusting a stranger, I imagine is not an easy feat, but Laura senses something in Ryan, and she does. Ryan showed more care for her and her well-being than I expected from someone as tortured as he was. It just goes to show that underneath that brokenness, he still yearned for what most people do, their own HEA. I HIGHLY recommend this book and I hope you come to love Ryan as much as I did!

If you like dark romances that have hot and steamy passion, scorching hot intimate scenes that are awe-inspiring, then this book is for you. This is the first time I read a book by this author, Linnea May, but I assure you, it will not be the last. When reading the story, it may make you feel sad, confused, appalled, and even euphoric. Ryan is very handsome, sexy, and a very successful investment businessman and well respected, but he has a penchant for something dark that he allows himself to indulge in once/year. He manages to keep it under control because he has strict rules in place. When Ryan sees Laura, who is a hostess and server at a fundraiser for his company, she is someone he wants, and Ryan usually gets what he wants. The chemistry between Ryan and Laura grows more potent—the sex is off the chart hot! Cannot give too much away, so read it and see what happens. There is lots of sex in here, so be warned! You will revel in this raucous, raunchy story with profound sexual content for the sensuous adult in you! The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. The book will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end.

Addiction and Fresh Starts

Two years ago, Laura dropped out of college to take care of her dying mother. Now, she's waitressing to pay off her debts and to save enough money to move away for a fresh start. What Laura doesn't count on is meeting Ryan, and how the mysterious billionaire is about to change her life.

Ryan has a dark past and urges. He controls them by using an agency to send him a new woman each year to spend one night with him. This annual retreat allows Ryan to explore his sexual dominant side. The time is approaching and this time Ryan wants to pick the leggy brunette beauty, Laura. He sees something special in her and has to have her. He doesn't expect Laura to unintentionally throw a wrench into his well laid plans.

Book 2 in this dark billionaire series is more gritty. Book 1 is focused more on power play, whereas book 2 focuses a little more on the pleasure/pain aspect of BDSM.

The book is a standalone, so reading book 1 isn't necessary. However, I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND reading Violent Delights. There are few mistakes, mostly quotations. This doesn't take away from the book; the reader will still be able to understand the story without struggling.

I recommend this book, as well as its predecessor.

I like that there was a mystery to why Ryan only paid for sex and how controlling he is. Laura was also incredibly strong. I don't see how she kept herself together after that one night of hotness. The book was the perfect balance of some bdsm and darkness.

Absolutely loved how this was written
Not your usual "dark" romance where everyone easily finds their happy place and suddenly has all the answers -
Nope --- in the world May has created life still throws our characters some curve balls and leaves them just as lost as they were a year ago (for those who read the story you will understand the reference - the rest of you "Come on in"
I loved the interaction between Laura and Ryan - it was real - it was blunt - no hold backs - they both went for it
I really liked the fact Laura was not portrayed as some whiny heroine who just couldn't deal - yeah she had her moments but I liked her sass
There were times I wanted to know the back stories - NOW - but patience paid off and May did finally let us in and I was a bit surprised but what was making our Ryan tick the way he did
As for being a dark romance - the scenes are graphic and hot as h@ll - but both parties are consenting adults and very aware of what they are doing therefore if you are new to dark romances this might be a good book to start with
I will grant you an HEA though I believe there could be more to this couple... Hint hint

V tomto príbehu na rozdiel od prvého bolo viac erotiky, erotických scén, bolesti a nepekných praktík, až som si niekedy hovorila, že by už stačilo. Ale postupne, ako sa príbeh vyvíjal, našla som si tam aj milé, príjemné, romantické scénky.

Hlavné postavy boli svojské. Ryan vždy len podliehal svojim túžbam, nevedel ich ovládať. Dokázal flákať robotu, povinnosti a vždy myslel len na to jedno, až som to nechápala. Laura mi podľa prvých viet pripadala ako milé a nevinné dievča. Avšak, náhodné stretnutie ju priviedlo k ponuke a bolo len na nej, či ju príjme alebo nie. Úplne som si ju nevedela predstaviť v roli „bábiky“, a časom mi to prišlo hlúpe. Nechápem ako môže žena fakt tie najhoršie veci dobrovoľne podstupovať, ako si to môže dokonca užívať. Jasné v hre je aj nehorázna suma peňazí, ale aj tak.

Po prečítaní týchto dvoch kníh od autorky nemám zlé pocity, ale mohla to byť kniha s lepšie rozpísaným príbehom, v ktorom by nebolo na každej stránke tak moc erotiky. Ale čítanie knihy bolo pre mňa dobré, príbeh sa čítal rýchlo, len niektoré veci ušli. Chvíľami mi to pripomínalo sériu 50 odtieňov (tú mám tiež rada) v skrátenej verzii.

A Review of Violent Cravings by Linnea May

Another stellar storyline - 4.5 stars

In this book, we again see the agency, Violent Delights, where customer can request a partner for specific types of acts, where they are willing to allow the client to do xyz, as long as there is no permanent or lasting damage to the "player" they send out. Ryan's past is dark and ugly, which limits him to giving into his darkest cravings just once a year. With his annual "playtime" coming up, he makes a rash decision to approach a waitress that he meets at a company event instead of going through the agency he has always used in the past. With the mountain of debt that Laura is trying to pay off (due to her mother's illness and subsequent death), she accepts his offer. What follows are some of the hottest sex scenes you will read and the journey these characters end up taking will keep you on the edge of your seat. The grammatical issues are the biggest draw back for me, but I still enjoyed the book.

This is the story of Laura and Ryan. Laura is working as a server at the fundraiser hosted by Onyx Corporation. She is there working with he best friend Layla for four hour event. She almost spill a drink on the most beautiful man she has ever seen. Ryan is the founder of Onyx, but Laura doesn't know who he is at first. After they talk and he gives his speech Ryan finds Laura and gives her his phone number on a card and ask her to call him. He has a proposal for her he wishes to talk to her about… This is one of the best dark romance I have read. I like the different directions this book goes to with the story. It was one of the hardest books to put down, the story was that great. I like how Linnea May let you get to know Laura and Ryan, their history and background story, and when you finish the book it is like you really know them. This is one book that made me laugh, cry, and those very hot (BDSM) sex scene. All I can say about this book is Yes Sir….. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy.

What an intense and sexy story. Ryan is a self-made billionaire, confident, sexy and oh so charming. He has a problem where he lets things take over his life and sex is usually one of them, where he forgets everything to fulfill that craving. He built a system that allows him to scratch that itch once a year which helps him keep this under control. When he sees Laura at an event his company sponsors, he finds himself captivated. He needs her to be his next toy. Laura is unexpected. She is a beautiful tall woman but carries herself in a way that shows she isn’t confident. When Ryan pursues her, she’s flattered but skeptical. Given the bills she needs to pay, he makes an offer she can’t refuse and her body really doesn’t want her to. As these two embark on this crazy, sexy journey of submission, will they find more than what they bargained for? Will one day be enough?
