You Look the Way I Feel

Rate this book
Draco returns for his eighth year at Hogwarts in an attempt to salvage whatever he can of his future. His plan: sit as many N.E.W.T.s as possible, distance himself from the Malfoy name, and keep out of trouble. Of course, with his father on trial and at risk of unthinkable punishment, not to mention the anxiety-fueled "episodes" that have been plaguing him since summer, the school year doesn't go so smoothly. Especially when Harry Potter keeps seeking him out.

Got me out of a two year reading slump! I don’t care if it’s fan fiction I’m counting it as something!

As for the plot, it kind of felt like the 8th book if there was one, but from Draco’s perspective. It sort of read like Carry On at some points, which is both good and bad. Good, because Harry and Draco’s relationship dynamic was heartwarming. Bad, because at points it felt a little rushed. I don’t usually like this, but I feel like the story could have benefitted from a dual POV so I could know what both main characters were feeling to give a more well-rounded perspective into each person’s thoughts.

Overall though, very good! This story made me care about other characters I never would have considered, like Daphne and… well, no one else, actually. But still good!

It was very good but not five stars because it felt rushed at times and kind of repetitive in a sense. Otherwise really good though

I LOVE possessive Harry Potter.
I had some doubts about this fic especially because its solely in Draco's POV but it was so good???
You Look The Way I Feel is basically about Draco dealing with the aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts and his dad facing Azkaban and the Kiss, all while trying to teach a DA class and trying to avoid Harry Potter who keeps seeking him out. I love the trope of Draco and Harry being in a with benefits situation and this fic was so good for that.

Harry: I don’t want him touching you
Draco: Oh, really? I’m your property now, am I?
Harry: Yeah. Do you understand?
My face the entire time I was reading this:

The way their relationship developed was pretty fast but I did like their dynamic and how unrelenting Harry was in the fic (I did find their separation to be a little dragged out though). Plot wise there wasn't much conflict but I also didn't mind that that either. I also liked how the author was pretty realistic on Draco's relationship with his parents and how he chose to not be with them in the end, but I wish there was a proper epilogue!!
Overall, I love possessive Harry x reluctantly obedient Draco.

2.75 stars 🌟. I don’t know why I read this fic when I wasn’t feeling it after 10%. I blame the start of a reading slump for not enjoying this.

No hate to the author but it was kinda repetitive word wise (something got said and then a few lines later it was said again), the characters personalities felt very off and bad (I really didn’t like it), and lastly it hurt my brain (the writing style was interesting).

Overall, people should ignore this review because I feel like I shouldn’t have read this fic at all because of the reading slump I’m in 😐.

4 stars almost 4.5. Great Harry and Draco fanfic featuring the two of them during 8th Year. I thought the characterization of Draco was fantastic. Lots of angst and self loathing but a fantastic read.
