I was an exorcist, one of the best. When things got hot, I got out. I wasn’t fast enough, and I ended up with nothing but my parents’ old pizza parlor.
Then my ex-best friend Darius wandered back into my life needing my skills. Innocent lives were in danger and I couldn’t say no. That dragged me deeper into the occult than I ever thought possible, and I can’t see a way back out. There’s upheaval in the demonic world and it’s spilling onto Earth and into my life; including stealing away my incubus boyfriend.
I thought I’d accidentally banished Sabian back to Hell, along with the demonic prince, Ezra, who’d been possessing me at the time. Turns out, the enemy snatched my incubus away from me as leverage in the upcoming war.
Mal, my vampire boyfriend, and I try to summon both Sabian and the demon prince, failing at every turn. When we’re at our wits’ end, Prince Ezra shows up in person with an offer I can’t refuse: help him with a small task and he’ll take me to Hell to rescue my incubus.
Terrifying? Sure, but what isn’t these days? Even more frightening are the feelings tugging me ever closer to Ezra. If I get out of this with my relationships and my soul intact, it’ll be worth the price I’ve paid to get Sabian back. This book is intended for mature audiences. 18+ readers only! It contains language and sexual situations. This is a medium burn reverse harem where the girl gets all the guys. Why Choose? Harem members added as series progresses.
Dakota has two passions in life: writing and cinnamon tea. Tea so strong she ought to be able to see her future when she drinks it, and the writing? Well she hopes it makes you see stars when you read it. She creates reverse harem romance novels filled with things that go bump in the night. That handsome werewolf walking down the street? The suave vampire you’re just dying to get a taste of? You’ll find them enraptured by charming, smart ladies ready to make those bad boys work for their affection. When not writing, Dakota can be found on the back of a horse out on the trail or tending the animals on her farm.
I loved this one. I was a little lost at the beginning because I couldn't remember what happened in the first book. But this was fucking kick ass and I can't wait to read the next book.
4.7 stars. Hell yeah. We’re still movin at a good pace. I enjoyed this. Most of the book was spent in Hell and time just seemed to fly by. Everything is moving really fast and I really appreciate that. I also really enjoy the relationships that Chris is forming. There’s no shying away from steamy scenes in this series and I’m so here for it. The plot just keeps getting deeper as the books progress, keeping my interest firmly rooted.
I’m really liking this series so far. I’m really hoping things continue like they have been.
So I really liked the story arc with book 1 and found the characters intriguing but book 2 was much better as far as the writing went. The characters are developing well, Price no longer says mate in practically every sentence, and the flow of the story was much better to book 1. Really enjoyed the story and am invested in it. Still loving the multiple POVs since I feel like it really helps me get to know the guys and connect with them. Overall I'm liking this series and look forward to book 3.
Still liking this one. Felt Ezra heavy, splitting up the guys. I did like Mal holding down the fort and suffering through the 80’s. Wasn’t expecting the horseman but curious about them. I don’t like angels, I struggle with them. The old friends constantly popping up was a little creepy and got annoying. I’m curious where this one is gonna go.

3.5-3.75⭐️’s—but because I’m a petty asshole. Read the next paragraph on my reasoning, that I say on my soap box of annoyance… as if anyone actually cares.
19 “mates” in the first half of the book…. DEAR GOD!! STAHP!!!! it’s one thing in referring to some like that as a friend… or another when referring to them like that has a soul-bonded (or otherwise) “mate” for life… but when it’s thrown around to everyone including foe’s, loved ones, friends AND strangers… ITS JUST TOO BLOODY MUCH!!!! FFS! STOP!! I’m surprised an editor or even the group of people that received this book as an ARC didn’t give that feedback. To me, it’s WAY too overused to the point I’d rather endure a medical procedure to rid my mind of my feelings to that word, so I stop caring. If I hear “mate” in the next year, it’d be too soon.
Again, 90% of the deductible stars were because of the above paragraph… and as mentioned in my previous books’ review(s). There were a few other bits that I was confused with or needed clarification, but I’m too amped with my “mate” irritation to remember specifics.
Trust me… it’s hard to get me aggravated to this point… but FFS, the author needs to find better words… considering it’s their job and all. And even using “mate” as a consideration of culture, the FMC was never from England but adapted her deceased father’s accent when growing up… she’s American! As an American, “mate” isn’t a word used in everyday conversations. Usually it’s meant in a PG way of copulation… and even living in the two countries that use that in a friendlier term, is NEVER used that much!!! I truly don’t understand nor don’t appreciate the author’s over usage of the term, so it is more annoying than the implied “friendliness” in the contexts used.
Ok… I’m gonna stop being such a jackass about it… for not. I guess I’m more so bummed that this series could have been a favorite of mine without that hugely annoying word repeated, according to my calculations, approximately once every 8-9 minutes. 🤨🙄
This book is mostly Prince Ezra and Chris' story. Prince Ezra has the means to help Chris in a way no one else can. When Chris is on a mission to get Sabian back, it seems only a literal trip to Hell is her only option.
Only now that Ezra is no longer possessing Chris, things are strange. There is this automatic pull they both cant help feeling toward each other. A feeling like if they don't touch or hold each other, they might just go crazy. Are Chris feelings for Ezra real? Or is it just this crazy pull making her feel that way? While on this mission, Chris meets old "friends" that definitely remind her why she stopped being an exorcist in the first place. Lotto has it coming.
Mal and Aaron are still doing their thing, trying to keep things normal while Chris is rescuing Sabian. Can they make room for another man in Chris life too?
This book was good. I enjoyed it a lot. More overall action in this book compared to book 1. I have a feeling though, we are not quite done adding to her harem. This book was full of new information that only help Chris cause. With the 4-horsemen on her side, can she stop the apocalypse?
*Overall 4.5/5 *Heat? 4/5 *First person POV *Med Burn
Another great book for the series! Love that Price is still a bad ass but not over the top. The whole Loc thing was a little underwhelming but still satisfying. Can’t wait to see what’s next! And can’t wait for her and Aaron to finally have their moment.
I’m curious if there will be MM in this? There was a comment made so looking forward to maybe seeing some MM. I’d love to see Mal and Ezra together but I know that’ll probably never happen lol if there will be MM it’ll be Aaron and Sabian

3,5 stars. It such a great series and i had the time of my life reading it! It's the second book in the series and it continues exactly from where we left off when Sabian was exorcised accidentally. The whole story was fast paced and exciting and i really liked that there were deeper feelings involved with Chris and her men. The dynamic was constantly changing between them and it was fascinating to read. It's not a stellar 4 star read for me cause i wanted more groveling from Ezra when he made mistakes and a little more loving between Aaron and Chris and between the whole "gang"(/family/life mates/lovers). I will totally continue to read this series and i'm waiting for the next book!!
While I enjoyed learning more about Prince Ezra, the other demons, and hell, I found the dialogue rather stilted and pacing very slow in the middle. All the action was pretty much in the beginning and the end and then a ton of explanations in the middle while traveling. Poor Aaron didn't get much screen time before he was offloaded with at the end of the book. The epilogue with Sabian also seemed rather superfluous and unnecessary.
However, I'm still interested in the characters and the world, so I will likely still read the next book in the series. I hope that we get more answers about what's going on with Lucifer and the FMC Chris's past exorcist/demon summoner friends that keep showing up to taunt her. I love me some Mayhem and the new sidekick though! -------- Ratings - completed series: #1 The Price of Possession: ★★★★☆ #2 The Price of Exorcism (this book): ★★★☆☆ #3 The Price of Magic: ★★★☆☆ #4 The Price of Souls: ★★★☆☆ #5 The Price of Rebellion: ★★★☆☆
Meh. Didn’t love this nearly as much as book 1. Writing style is very basic, heavy on the “tell” rather than the “show”. None of the obstacles the characters encountered ever felt that challenging—there seemed to be a lot of easy fixes and sudden magical powers.
Still, elements of this are quite unique and I’ll likely read book 3.
This book has done something very rare - it's beaten the curse of bad second book in a series!
The book is a 4.7 but the narration is a 2 and for a weird reason- my comments on that at the bottom.
This is actually a great story and continues to be really fun and like a roller coaster ride of all the emotions. The characters are developed more but in an organic way that actually lends to the story. , We learn more about the ones that came before and new ones are added. The sexy scenes are funny and well written and spicy without being p***o
Best of all, the story doesn't lag for interest or repetition. Yea!
That's huge for a fantasy writer who can actually come up with original content after so many books have been written in the genre.
I'm intentionally writing this without quotes or spoilers. I feel like there's a lot of other really good reviews if you're looking for details, I just really wanted to share my take on what might be one of my favorite spicy fantasy reverse harem series
Now about that narration in the audiobook... Two really weird things are going on. And read to the bottom because it's super strange and will make you want to listen to the book.
The first one is that for some odd reason, the female narrator has now swung from doing a weird Australian accent to some sort of South african/new Zealand hybrid when it's supposed to be a mixture of British and American southwest. I mean I get that it's supposed to be a jumbled accent as the writer describes it, but this rendition isn't even close. But somehow weirdly it does grow on you by the end of the book.
And now for the strangest thing. The male narrator in addition to switching his accent mid sentence more than once, has random sections where his voice changes completely. It says if it's his take or joke that he himself is possessed - which the series is based on if you didn't know by yet now. But it is kind of disarmingly strange to be listening to somebody reading the story then all of a sudden there's this really creepy voice that interjects in the middle of the sentence - and it's not a switch to a different character. It's still the same character - it's just the guy reading it suddenly shifting his voice to a dark, deeply resonating , but not in the good way, kind of voice.
Anyhow we'll see what book three brings and so far so good
I was hoping that the second book in the Pizza Shop Exorcist series would be able to gain my interest where book one failed to do so. Sadly, I’m still feeling indifferent towards the story as a whole, and am about to write it off as a case of it’s-not-you-it’s-me, where the “you” is the book.
Whilst it’s difficult for me to pinpoint exactly why I’m failing to connect with the story, I can pinpoint one of my main issues—the FMC. I’m not talking about her I’m-not-like-other-girls persona—No Siree!—I’m talking about how a) she’s so special that a Prince of Hell, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and Lucifer are interested in her; and b) her powerful abilities are practically dropped in her lap without her having to work for them—I’m sorry, but I need my FMC’s to earn their powerful allies and abilities through their own merit, not just have it all handed to them.
On a more positive note, I loved that Ezra turned out to be mostly submissive in bed, and that he turned into a big softie when given affection.
Title: The Price of Exorcism (Pizza Shop Exorcist #2) by Dakota Brown POV(s): Multiple—First Person Interconnected Series:Yes Standalone: No Cliffhanger: No HEA: Relationship: Reverse Harem Genre(s): Paranormal Romance Triggers: N/A Tags/Tropes: ❖ Demons-Angels-Fae ❖ Journey-to-Hell ❖ Medium Burn ❖ Paranormal-Politics ❖ Power-Struggle ❖ Rescue-Mission
The “mates” phenomenon continues but it’s not as irritating as the first time, maybe I’ve gained resistance 🤷🏾♀️ Question: I know people are different but which people who proclaim to be in love with someone can take a day without texting or calling said “lover”. It was irking me then the character announced that they were “bad at relationships”. I was not appeased, I don’t know why this stuck with me.
Okay, I digress. This series is a multiple POV, reverse harem with 4 guys currently (don’t know if more will be added, hope not). We have several secondary characters, it’s low key serious with a laid back vibe. We have a sweetie (Sabian, the incubus, yeah didn’t expect that either), the bully (kinda, Prince Ezra, the demon prince, not into sharing), the laidback guy (Mal, vampire, very knowledgeable in lots of things comes from living a long time and being a nerd) and lastly the one who is unsure (Aaron, Nephilim, with the eye tattoos which reminded me of the angel in An Echo in the Sorrow so thanks for that). We have appearances from legendary characters: 4 horsemen + Lucifer
I didn’t get the 80’s movie references 😔 apart from “I’ll be back” that’s Arnold Schwarzenegger, right? Also the FMC is older than 30 so that’s a plus for me and she really carries on like she’s a very independent and “I know what I want and my rights” adult to her detriment at times, though people take her snark and sass in stride 🙄. Very special Mary Sue vibes starting up, hope it doesn’t increase.
I’m going to continue the series. Thanks Ms Dakota Brown
I liked the story but it felt a little fractured. She has this relationship with Mel and a who knows what relationship with Aaron (I mean she kept kissing him but I still no nothing about this character) then Ezra shows up and it’s lust central again. And she just goes off with him on an adventure leaving behind Mel and Aaron. So the story was taking place in 2 separate places and they just didn’t connect for me. Maybe bc they were hardly together at all. Not sure but I didn’t love it. And I get this is a RH but it really bothers me how she keeps telling Mel she wouldn’t share him at all but she keeps adding men to her collection like it was no big deal. Even guys that don’t get along. I don’t know why that bothered me so much in this series as compared to others but it really did. Now onto my biggest problem and the reason I will not be continuing this series. The writing. Don’t get me wrong the story itself is written well but it’s like the author grabs ahold of a word, phrase or saying and just can’t let go of it. She did this in book 2 (mate and twat or twatwaffle were used way to much). Could she seriously not think of any other words. Book 1 it was used 94 times and book 2 was used 72 times. You read that right. BEYOND EXCESSIVE. And it wasn’t just this. If I had to read about one more hunched shoulder or weeping ovaries I was going to scream. Weeping ovaries, really? A woman who doesn’t want to get pregnant and yet she keeps taking about her damn ovaries. WTH. Just no. I get your horny and wet and the guys are smoking but just no. No. No. So I’m done with this series
I read these back-to-backs with no break between. So, I’m just going to review them the same way. I generally liked what I read of this series. I liked the characters. I liked that the heroine is a little older and established. I liked the easy-going nature of the relationship(s). (One is even still platonic after two books, but there is no doubt he’s one of the group, and there is no angst about it. I like that.) The world seems interesting. And other than an annoying tendency to overuse names in dialogue, the writing is pretty good.
However, I gave up after two books rather than continue the series because it became apparent that Price was becoming so all-powerful and gathering such a powerful harem that I was already becoming bored. Too powerful characters kill tension because there is no chance of them not easily defeating the villains. Similarly, she was just SO WORSHIPED by her men that it just felt redundant. It all left too little room for nuance.
Now, that’s why I stopped after two books. But there was also enough interest to keep me reading for two books. So, this review is a bit of a mixed bag. Ultimately, if I found freebie copies, I’d continue. But I chose not to buy any more.
I bounced between 3.5 to 4 stars. I ended up going with 4 stars because I liked the second book way more than the first. I will admit the book was short, less than 200 pages. Because of this, the book was fast paced with multiple and different things going on with multiple characters in the book. In this book you start to see the enemies more clearly and all the pieces/characters/events moving around.
I liked the characters growth in this book, especially with Ezra and Price. But truly all the characters had some sort growth.
Price’s pizza shop and co-workers are awesome! I kinda wish I could to a pizza shop like the one in this book! So unique and quirky.
My theory about Mayhem potentially turning into a male body is basically gone. I think he is just a very smart, badass, loyal hellhound to Price. But I’m still frustrated and freaking irritated that he chose for his human dog shape a puffball!! Ugh!
This book had multiple POVs and I would rate the sexiness of this book and scenes a 3.75 out 5.
After this book, which I think redeemed the series, I will read onto book 3 once it comes out.
This is an amazing series. Full of non stop action, suspense, and heat. The characters are fascinating. I love each and every one. Even the villain characters that dislike. Now I'm going to complain a bit. I probably off one or two in either direction but I counted the word mate 60 times in just this book. I've read books in British English and have no problem with it because it fits. It does not fit this book or this character. I know it's to make her unique and to stand out but it doesn't fit and sounds stupid and feels forced into the dialogue. So it's irritating and distracting. Plus 60 times in one book is excessive for any phrase to be that repetitive. Overall this is a must read series and I can't wait for the next book.
Dakota Brown’s new book does not disappoint. This book picks up a little after the first one with Price doing her best to find her incubus. Ezra plays a huge part in this book and I believe that’s my favorite part. I ❤️Ezra so much. You get little snippets of what makes Price so unique but that whole story seems to be flushed out in later books. There is action in this book, just little bit of other woman drama, and some smexy scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole book from the beginning to the end, from Mal to Ezra, and the inclusion of some new characters that I really hope get a spin off. Seriously read this series, read this book, and enjoy the laughs
I absolutely adored this story! Dakota Brown has made me fall even deeper in love with these characters and this story! There are so many interesting and intriguing revelations and surprise plot twists that happen in this book. One thing that hasn’t changed...Chris Price is one bada** woman! The lengths she would go to to protect and save those she cares about knows no bounds. It’s truly incredible!
I love seeing new characters come into the picture and bonds growing deeper amongst established relationships/friendships. There is so much awesomeness that happens throughout this story that it’s impossible to convey how much I loved it! There are so many ways Book 3 could unfold and I can’t wait to see what happens! I have no doubt at all that I’ll love it!
So, book two of the Pizza Shop Exorcist series. I enjoyed it, like book one.
But it still has its annoying habits. Like Chris with her "mate" in much every sentence. That's something I happily wish I can get without. Still, it's ok.
I liked it, that Chris has more time with Ezra. And with that, we get to know more about him and hell. And other demons. We get to see Lucifer himself. What would hell be like without, right?
Other characters make appearances, too. Chris old occultist friends, though not on a nice term. Angels. And some other. But I don't want to spoiler it all. ;)
Let's say there is more. And the plan behind is taking shape. So, the last book should be more action.
Still loving the series. I felt like Ezra was a little forced and i preferred the dynamic of the other three guys with her. The plot is definitely thickening which is interesting, and we learned more about the hell dimension in this world. I super missed Sabian. I liked the chapters specifically developing Mal and Aaron's friendship and also their part in the community and helping the pizza shop. I just wish there had been more of them all working as a team rather than it being just Chris and Ezra. Mayhem was great and hopefully we'll get to see his third form in the next book.
I couldn't get into this one it's all about her getting her smut on with Mal again... This is not a RH it's a having other people on the side. There is no character development, we know the bare minimum about any of them much so I have lost interest.
I skipped a lot because book 1 was weaved into book 2 and I had no interest re-reading book 1. What put me off even more was the heroines reactions to wealth yet we we've been led to believe she's well off. For some reason the author has made her very immature, she's 35! Every time the plot seems to get stuck and that's a lot we get smut.
i prefer a lesser amount of travel in my romance, and im also not really a fan of complex, world-saving plots. also, basically every time they defeat a demon, they find out the demon worked for someone bigger and badder. this cycle continues like three times.
i liked the simplicity of the first book. she was a pizza shop owner and an exorcist who somehow got three supernatural roommates. it made room for lots of domestic moments and bonding between them.
i hope the third book has less travel and location changes, and that there is more of a focus on the relationships than saving the world
ooohh and i hope lucifer becomes part of the harem.

Ok Dakota Brown you are my favourite now. Lost Boys is my favourite too 😍. After reading book 2 this series got a whole lot more interesting in so many ways. I already knew by the title of this series (pizza shop exorcist) was gonna be good but it’s definitely more. If your a supernatural fan, your gonna absolutely love this and that’s coming from somebody who only finished book 2. This is one epic series for sure, absolutely incredible. Binge worthy and definitely a series that your gonna wanna re read again and again. I’m so buying the paperbacks once I’ve finished this series. It’s going with my collection. Dakota Brown just became my favourite 😍
While a lot of the main charaacters were apart for the whole of this book, it was actually really onteresting with the seperate stories they were experiencing. Lots of new characters introduced. Mostly i like that the men in this arent dominant douchebags, like she can enjoy being tied up a little bit without it being complete power over her or like owned or something, and somethimes the men are even a little subby for her which i love. Good book, a little cheesy and still not sure i love how much she clings to her short hair and leather jacket as her identity but shes becoming more well rounded.
Book 2 in the Pizza Shop Exorcist series. Loved it. Great story and we get to meet some new characters that are going to continue through the series. One of the things I love most is that the MFC isn't the usual female. She's snarky, is covered in tattoos, sports a kinda mohawk, is 35 and loves the 80s punk scene. Her character is lovable in an uncomman way. She is her own person and those she claims as hers, whether they are lovers or friends/employees she always cares and puts them first. Can't wait for the next book!
Dakota Brown is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors
This book isn't wonderful the detail is incredible everything runs so smooth that you just feel like you're part of the story and you just can't wait to see what's going to happen next and I'm excited to start the new book so that I can see where Miss price is going to be and how everything's going to come together and on top of it I can't wait to buy all of Dakota Brown's books thank you for giving me something to take me away from my everyday life.
This series is amazing so far. What a wild ride! This book spends a lot of time in hell. I feel like Chris getting revenge on Lott was somewhat anticlimactic considering he killed her parents. All her men are amazing so far. I hope Aaron comes around in book 3. I would have rated this book a solid 5 stars, but if I have to read the word “mate” one more time I might lose it. Thankfully my mind is skipping over it at this point because it’s seriously annoying. Amazing series storyline wise, but I really hope the author will tone down the mate thing.

So much went down in this book. This book starts where the last one ends with Prince Ezra and Sabian being accidentally sent to hell.with Aaron and Mel helping with her recovery. After that it’s a fast paced shit show that I completely loved. A few brand new characters show up and a few old acquaintances come from the slums. I can’t wait for book 3 I’m so excited to read what happens next in this awesome series.

I have to admit I enjoy this series more than I thought. I like Price, adore Mal and Sabian and Mayhem is everything.
Sometimes the characters are a bit flat but I can live with that in a RH with an interesting premise like this one. My pettiest complaint is that I cannot stand the choice to have Price say "mate" every other damn sentence. It's distracting from the dialogue and adds nothing to the character.
