The Foxxxy Gentleman’s Club: Christian

Rate this book
Foxxxy Rule #1: Never fall for a client.

Christian Webber is femme, fabulous, and an absolute freaking mess. Although he loves his chaotic life, his cherished friends, and his job dancing and escorting at the exclusive Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club, he’s also twenty-nine, single, and facing down the very real possibility of turning into a lonely, old cat lady. But an encounter with a client’s jaded son may change everything.

Gordon van Dierman has his life figured out. He owns a business, a house, and a dog with his partner of seven years, but when he learns of his partner’s infidelity, the grumpy Dutchman abandons everything he’s built and returns to his childhood home in America to lick his wounds in peace. But a run-in with a feisty, genderfluid escort may be just what the doctor ordered.

When Chrissy and Gordon’s lives collide, it’s hate at first sight to be sure, but the fire between them may be more than simple loathing. You know what they say: love and hate are horns on the same goat—or however that expression goes.

Chrissy knows better than to fall for a client. But the rules don’t say anything about a client’s son, do they?

If not for John York's performance, this would have been a quick dnf. His performance of a Boston accented femme male was amusing and entertaining. 😁

The romance was a complete fail for me. There's slow burn, and there's dragging it out for the sake of dragging it out. That's what it felt like for me. And because of that, I couldn't feel the connection between the MCs. By the end of the story, I can't even say they had a strong relationship that will last. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I received an ARC from GRR and this is my honest review.

This was a cute, fluffy, sweet read and I enjoyed it.

What I loved:
- The Banter
- The creative swearing Christian used. those cracked me up.
- Christian being Femme. I love that.

- Macho Gordo who was burned by an ex..

- The sex scenes were hot.
- Jan and his story broke my heart. I loved his scenes.
- The compromises both men did to be with each other.

Niggles:
- Everything happened too fast for me.
- Christian changing his mind about working as a stripper was a bit hot and cold. he didn't want to quit and then he did, and then he didn't. this was also too fast. They were a couple for mere days before the first fallout. It needed more fleshing out IMO.

4.5 stars. Christian is a dancer and escort at the exclusive Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club.
Once a week he visits Jan, who has bad eyesight, he read books for him.
On his next visit, a grumpy and scowling man opens the door. It’s Jan's son Gordon from the Netherlands (my country!!). He’s bluntly rude and Christian was glorious! Being cocky, smug, naughty, he pats Gordon on the cheek and steps inside like a real queen.

It’s a fact: they can’t stand each other!

Gordon is thirty-six, he’s awfully grumpy, and a suspicious person since his partner Thijs betrayed him, he’d lost his trust in humanity.
So when the beautiful, feminine Christian flirts with Gordon’s dad he’s very suspicious, is his Dad a sugar daddy?
Oww Gordon shows us all his bad sides, rude, stereotyping, shaming.
Gordon asks more than once what Christian does for work, somehow he never gets an answer.

“I was going to make him gag on it, and he’d thank me after. Because I was a merciful and generous god.”

“He’d stripped me of my self-control, my integrity, and my will power. Did he need my heart and soul too?”

Hate and love are strong emotions and never far away from each other. One night Christian and Gordon collide.
It’s getting all quite complicated when you understand the real connection between Christian and Jan and even more complicated with the kind of work Christian does.

Awesomeness, when Christian and Gordon meet for the first I grinned like a madman.
Omg, I laughed my ass off, so much banter, so many fights, and arguments, steam was coming out of Gordon’s ears. It was the best. Christian showed him how his mouth could work, like the princess he is.
Both were demanding and strong-headed af! I really had my doubts if they would make it as a couple. So well put together!
It was an awesomely written, lovable story I enjoyed it immensely. Both men are rude, flawed, vulnerable, and so into each other.

Christian to diva połączona z upartością, zawziętością i własnym, niepodważalnym zdaniem. Nie chcący oddać choćby milimetra swojego terytorium. Gordon to w sumie w większości historii dupek.

Ulala what a book.

This book is a frenemies to lovers romance with a lot of fun moments and two absolutely adorable MCs.

Gordon just broke up with his boyfriend for seven years because the boyfriend cheated on him. He comes to his home in Boston from where he lived with his boyfriend to stay with his blind father. There he meets Chrissy. Chrissy is femme, loves wearing panties and teasing Gordon. He also works as an exotic dancer and as an escort, unbeknownst to Gordon. Chrissy is also Gordons' father escort. It is lust and hate at the first sight between them, but somehow they have undeniable chemistry.

This book was fantastic. I had a hard time getting into the story, but after the 10% mark, I was hooked.
Chrissy is fierce. He has a wicked sense of humor, is fiercely loyal, and just adorable. I loved him from start to finish. Gordon hides a loyal, soft and insecure core behind a grouchy and prickly facade. He grows on you.
These two together were such a joy to read and I had some passages where I had to laugh out loud. They bicker and tease, but never in a mean way.

The next book in this series was getting teasered in this one and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

*I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.*

The banter in this enemies to lovers story was SO good! You could truly feel the loathing and attraction! There was so much unresolved tension.. it could light up the city of Boston.

Christian and Gordon were very well developed characters. It made it a very fast read for me. It was a surprisingly slow burn but worth it.

The HEA was a bit unexpected too but it worked for them.
I look forward to reading book 2! Angels book.

Story: 4.5 Stars
Performance: 4 Stars

Being a fan of this e-book (review below), I looked forward to experiencing it in audio. Narrator John York delivers a good performance that kept me engaged, though Christian's Boston accent took some getting used to even to my untrained ears (I expect others may comment on its authenticity).

As for the story itself, I had so much fun reading this book. Chrissy is a treasure - hilarious, delightfully snarky, fiercely proud, dramatic, caring, and the man who takes sheer delight in pushing all of growly Gordon's buttons. Their bickering veers from playful to biting as they go - to their surprise - from frenemies to lovers, and it's an emotional and steamy whirlwind that's as sweet as it is passionate.

I also enjoyed Chrissy's friendship with Gordon's father Jan, it's really quite caring and thoughtful. Chrissy's hellion cat Mr. Jingles may be the real star of this story though - the feisty feline is laugh-out-loud entertaining every time he appears.

This is my first book by this author, and I love their sense of humor and writing style. I can't wait to catch up with the other Foxxxy Boys as this series continues. I received advance review copies of this e-book (also read in KU) and audio book and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Christian (Chrissy) Weber - a fabulous genderfluid escort-lives on the edge of chaos, dancing, escorting and great friends. Also, a mess to boot. Suddenly looking at a life of loneliness, something needs to change.

Gordon Van Dierman returned to America after his life was turned upside down by infidelity of his partner. What he did not expect was to have a certain escort turn his life in a different direction.

Chrissy was a breath of fresh air and Gordon was a grump. Not exactly love at first sight but it was so much fun to read these two get there.

What a true delight to add to my permanent collection. Full of snark, drama, button pushing, and the transition from friendly enemies to steamy loves.

I really enjoyed this new book/series from Nikole Knight. It's very different from her Fire & Brimstone series but just as well written and entertaining.
Foxxy's is a gentleman's club where one of the MC's, Christian, works as a dancer, choreographer and backstage manager as well as occasionally taking escort jobs. One of his regular clients is Jan, whose son happens to be staying with him one day when Christian turns up looking totally fabulous. Gordon and Christian butt heads immediately and it's really quite amusing to read as they just bounce off of each other, Christian clearly not taking it quite so seriously but for sure standing up for himself when needed. Gordon definitely balances out Christian's pep and personality with being a bit of a grouch. It's clear how much he cares for his father but family history means they haven't been that close but Gordon is back now having split with his personal and work partner. It's sweet seeing the bond between father and son rebuild but it has nothing on what's growing between Gordon and Christian. It's a case of surprise encounters, alcohol and stubbornness that brings these two men together again and again, and it's really sweet to see how close they're getting whilst still arguing about any little thing.
It does take quite a while for the two to get together and then for anything to develop from there but I enjoyed how everything progressed for all involved in regards to their friendships, romantic relationships and for Christian at his work place. I think we have enough of a lead to see who may possibly be getting their story next and I'm excited to see where that goes.
In regards to the audio, John York knocked this clear out of the park! His narration, accents, emotional portrayals are so freaking good! He totally made the story work for me and I could not stop listening. Cannot recommend listening to this enough.

This was fine. I liked it enough that I'm going to read the next one in the series but I also didn't love it. It is about an exotic dancer and escort named Christian who is very femme and on one of his escort "dates"? He runs into his client's son. His client, Jan, is an elderly Dutch guy who has Chrissy read letters to him from his ex lover. Jan is losing his sight and can't read anymore and so Chrissy comes and because he is fluent in Dutch, reads all the letters. I'm not even going to lie this is my favorite part of the book. I really love Jan and his entire story.

Anyway, so even though there's nothing sexual it never has been any sexual encounters between Jan and Chrissy, Jan's son Gordon makes a lot of assumptions and it's kind of an asshole when he meets Chrissy unexpectedly.

Gordan has come home from Holland after he caught his husband cheating on him. He is pretty adrift in his life and not sure what to do next. He is caught off guard by Christian and how attracted he is to him and also how infuriated he is by him. This is definitely an enemy to lovers with some hate sex.

I will admit that I struggle with enemies to lovers a lot and I'm not sure if it's because of my asexuality and aromantic identities that I just don't quite understand why someone would have sex with someone they despise or be attracted to someone they can't stand, but it always takes me a little bit longer to really get invested in books like this. I do think that their relationship moves both intensely slow and weirdly fast. Like they drag out this banter but then all of a sudden jump into weirdly sexually aggressive moments. I don't know.

As a whole this book isn't bad but It wasn't one that I would go back to necessarily.

I loved this book. From the first few sentences, I was all in and binge listened every chance I got, laughingly often and loudly.
Christian is one of the funniest, cleverest, most overflowing with personality, (without being irritating), characters. Nearly every phrase out of his mouth (or thought in his head) was a gem. I feel like I need to save some of his exclamations for the right moments, "Holy Helen Hunt!" being one of my favorites. I also absolutely adored the grump that is Gordon, and their banter and inner thoughts about one another was fantastic. Side characters were also a joy, especially Gordon's dad, Jan, (the J pronounced as a Y). This is not to say that there aren't periodic serious moments, downright tear-jerking moments, and very hot moments, but over all, this is a romantic comedy.
Speaking of pronunciation, I'm not up on the Dutch language and I can't judge if the Boston accent used is authentic as it could ever be, but to my untrained ears, the audiobook more than likely made my enjoyment all the more rich and complete. John York's delivery was a joy for me. I think if I'd read this in print, I would've mispronounced a lot that he probably pronounced correctly, especially on the Polish side of things, though I would've liked to have the ability to have footnotes for some of the words and endearments thrown in periodically. It wasn't hard to figure out from context, but still, an exact translation of some things would make me feel more learned at least.
This was my first Nikole Knight book, though I've had multiple ones on my TBR, and it will definitely not be my last. I'm officially a fan.

If you've ever read any of Nikole Knight's books, you know she can WRITE. What I was tickled to discover with Christian is that she can write a funny, low-angst book with the best of them. (If you haven't read her Fire and Brimstone Scroll series do it NOW- just expect the opposite of low angst!)

Christian is snarky and funny, with a sense of self that I'm envious of. He knows who he is, what he likes and how he wants his life to work out.  He's unapologetically positive about his job as a dancer and escort and Nikole does a great job of highlighting the positives *and* negatives of the life of a sex worker.

Gordan is at loose ends after a failed relationship. He's not looking for a relationship with anyone, let alone a femme, funny, fiesty dancer but once he meets Chrissy, all bets are off.

The cast of secondary characters is superb and I dare you not to be moved to tears by Jan.

This is a fantastic start to a series I cannot wait to devour!

This is a fun story to read. Christian is all out and good at it. Gordon is not nearly as much fun until he gets together with Chrissy. This author has such a way with details. I admire anyone who can write and describe all the while making their story engaging and entertaining. This book holds you within the story never disappointing both with the characters and the direction they’re going. The romance this book offers is sweet, verbally heated, at times, and chock full of passion. Full on chemistry is what they have. Great supporting characters also give their all and play a big part in this success. Looking forward to what comes next, for sure. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

I thought that I wasn't going up enjoy this. Initially I felt that the book dragged, and I guessed that I'd be doing a lot of skim reading. I still do think it was a little longer than necessary, but I did eventually get into it.

Only when MCs, Chrissie and Gordon, began to verbally spar in earnest did the story really get going. It turned out to ultimately be quite an engaging read. Chrissie’s used to being lusted after by the men who frequent the club where he works, Foxxxy's, but he's no intention of looking for true love, and romance.

He reckons the guy who'd be OK with the life he lives doesn't exist, and he does wonder if anyone could truly want him for more than his body. I liked this vulnerability that he exhibited, considering that, on the surface, he's out and out fabulous and in your face.

Enter Gordon, a handsome guy, who seems to be both judgemental and objectionable. However, he turned out to be a revelation. I enjoyed reading how the relationship between the two developed, and the way in which they were eventually willing to compromise for one another. There's a great scene where grumpy Gordon gets drunk, it really made me smile.

So a good start to a new series. I enjoyed the MCs, and the secondary characters. Looking forward to the next book.

🟣NO RATING🟢

DNF at 64%

I can't anymore.
I don't feel the chemistry at all.

Are they really enemies? Didn't seem like it. I think the dynamic wasn't well done, this was lukewarm, at best. Why? Because the story is really trying to be funny and exciting and it's too much, it looses its effect .

It had its moments, but Gordon should've been a bit more developed, a stronger character, at least.

I loved Christian, but that's about it.

This is my honest thoughts about it.
I loved this book. It had me laughing so hard in some parts of this book. The snark was awesome and flying in this book. It had me going thru out the whole book. I loved the charters in the book. They were so wonderful to get to know and fall for. You just wanted to hug them and hit them and yell at them sometimes all in one page. This book was great and i cant wait to see whats next in the series.

New to me author and I am hooked. Chrissy's sassy attitude and snarky backtalk hooked me from the first chapter. Throw in a grumpy, antagonistic Gordon and a fluffy demon cat and I could not put this book down. These two have a banter that kept me smiling the entire book. A well written, refreshing book that doesn't end in your typical mushy HEA. I cannot wait to read book two and I am quickly going to check out the author's other books.

Fabulous fun to read

I am in love with Christian/Chrissy. Not in that way because he is gay and I’m a middle aged lady and also he is a fictional character but I still love him and think that he is fabulous darling. He his the kind of gender bending, in your face, take no prisoners character that really appeals to me. This story is a terrific read and lots of fun. I can’t wait to read more books from this series.

This was such an enjoyable read! There's enough angst to sink your teeth into, enough chemistry to blow up a lab, and enough *feelings* to to warm a skittish heart - or two. Christian is stubborn, proud & rocks his femme qualities and his occupations. Gordon is also stubborn, a bit jaded after his recent breakup & crossing an ocean to stay with his father for awhile, but Chrissy throws him for a loop. They push & pull & fight & make up & finally find a middle ground they can live with. I loved this story - and the gang at Foxxxy's!

It really pays not to judge a book by it's cover! Christian is foxy fabulous and freaking awesome! He likes to think he has it all, but he is afraid of ending up alone. Gordon is sitting pat, thinking all is right with his world, until he realizes his partner, Thijs is not monogamous! Best chapter scene, ever was when Gordon meets Christian. Absolute ROTFL scene! Chrissy has to be the snark Queen and Gordy is the best straight men, ever. Jan, Gordy's dad is a peach and the relationship among the three is amazing. Their journey is a fun read. It's a really 'feel good' story. I will absolutely read this several times and enjoy each read. Well done, with two snaps! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. Nice cover art!

I really enjoyed this! I’m a sucker for relationships with a heavy dose of snark and foreplay that often includes bickering. I also love a pro-sex work story but also with the reality of the give and take in relationships. I’m very intrigued about the foxxxy club and all it’s characters so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more from this series! My biggest complaint is that I like a little more actual relationship shown after the conflicts and I wish there was more of a look into the future but overall this was a great read!

For me this is one of those books where I know exactly what I’m going to get and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It’s a cute and fluffy, frenemies to lovers story, that really hits its stride a little way in about 10-15%, once the bickering and banter between Christian/Chrissy and Gordon picks up, the arguments were epic and we all know how thin the line between love and hate can get. Some of the swear words are very inventive.
I enjoyed the fact that book two is hinted at and I can’t wait for what the Gentleman’s club has in store for us next.
