Mithran Princess Adora Solen is on her way to be married when her kingdom's centuries old foe, the Thanatens, attacks her carriage. Taken as a captive, she's swept up in an adventure of darkness.... and a dangerous desire for the enemy. The King of Shadows, Caliban Mor'gen, doesn't know what he's getting himself into when he takes Adora as his captive. For the first time in his life, he craves the kiss of the sun.
Raven first started writing as a young teen, but it wasn't until 2019 when she decided to start writing again and decided to revamp and finish a childhood story that her passion for writing really blossomed. Now she writes steamy romances with the hopes of sharing those stories with others.

My Review: OMG I loved this book so much! It was very reminiscent of the old romance novels I used to read growing up. Very romantic and sweet but super spicy as well. Caliban and Adora were mortal enemies and warring factions of elves. Caliban captures Adora and the sparks fly between them. I loved their intense connection and dynamic interactions, it was red hot and super exciting. I loved the world building too, it was descriptive but totally imaginable and it felt like a place I'd love to visit in my dreams. I really enjoyed the author’s writing style as well and I hope to read more from her in the future. This is an awesome fantasy romance that I highly recommend!
I DNF’d at 21%. This is terrible. If you’ve read and enjoyed this book, than I’m happy for you and wish you nothing but the best… but I hate it.
There’s no chemistry, Caliban is about as deep as a puddle after a light spring shower and about as amusing as a splinter in the ass. This was dry, dry read.
It’s enemies to lovers done horribly. Within the first 15% she’s already got her tongue down his throat, and telling herself that she hates him, yet eye fucking the shit out of him… and then actually banging him at 20%.. where is the plot? Where is the world building? Where is the anything that isn’t poorly written smut? If it was good smut, at least, this could have gone in an entirely different way, but nothing about this sandpaper on a bicycle seat ride was good..
This book was perfect. A true comfort read and I’m obsessed with it.
Adora and Caliban are enemies, belonging to two warring elf kingdoms that have been fighting for centuries. A twist of fate allows these two to meet in the weirdest of circumstances with Caliban capturing Adora and taking her back to his kingdom. Along the way, tensions rise and these two give into their desire and lust for each other. Things spiral quickly !
Favourite tropes: One bed trope Enemies to lovers HE FALLS IN LOVE FIRST Found family trope Slight pregnancy trope but it’s only emphasised in the last two chapters So so much more
This book had everything I needed and wanted from a stand-alone fantasy romance. Caliban was an absolute simp for Adora and he was so so soft for her! The spice was amazing and I absolutely adored their moments. His shadow powers and her sun healing powers were definitely fun aspects to explore in the book and I loved the descriptions of his kingdom and his people.
From him getting drunk to him falling to his knees before her begging her to listen to him, I loved this. Their banter early on was so entertaining and I loved his nickname for her “flower”. Some of the elements of this book were just so dang cute. I loved the balance between Caliban being a scary and fearsome king but also being the absolute opposite when it came to Adora.
The only downsides I can find to this book were the countless grammatical errors littered throughout. While I don’t think they took away from the book, they definitely did disrupt my reading at times.
Overall a favourite read of this year and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Love this story! Action, drama, romance with humor thrown in. An unlikely couple thrown together in less than savory circumstances. The vivid descriptions make you feel like you’re there along with wonderful characters that aren’t 2D. Join Adora and Caliban on their journey to love, overcoming years of hatred from both sides. Definitely a favorite book of mine.
Absolutely well written, and enticing all the same! The detail is immaculate-I truly got attached to the characters and their connection. The spicy scenes are well written and emotional all the same. Well worth the read!! The author’s other works are just as great. Highly recommend.
This was obscenely cute. There were a lot of steamy scenes, and at some point, it was the only thing going on but I didn't really care or mind. The relationship progressed really, really fast (very much Insta-lust) which I don't really like. But through the course of the book, I didn't mind too much and grew to really like the relationship. . But the story was cute, it enthralled me and I couldn't stop reading it.
It was a nice enemies to lovers romance book.I liked that it was mixed with light and darkness themes showing exactly that opposites do attract.Their differences made it so much more interesting to read and i loved the male character. The fact that he was ready to make a war to not give her back to her dad made me feel giddy and he always treated her good even before they became official lovers. He went against anyone who disagreed of their relationship and he was jealous and possessive enough.I loved how willing the female character was to explore his world and made friendships with his friends.plus i loved how she wanted to learn from her friend to put to good use of her healer power. She was intelligent, fun and kind.I loved the pregnancy scene and the ending was good.I definetly recommend reading this book.
This book really isn’t written well. Everything is told instead of shown, the characters’ motivations are nonexistent or not believable at all, and there are typos left and right (misspellings, using the incorrect word, odd sentence structures). It’s really surface-level and obvious with no real character development and so didn’t hold my interest well. From their first meeting and through the first half, the MC is also like, “I’m so attracted to him, but no! Stop that, me! He’s my enemy!” Ughhhh
📂Genres: romance, high fantasy 🖤Tropes: enemies to lovers, captive princess, one bed, touch her and I’ll kill you (and it actually happens)

☁️Overall Thoughts: Tiktok made me do it and I don’t regret it lol! A classic enemies to lovers with the right fit of romance and smut that will make you swoon! Adora and Caliban were so enjoyable to read. Their banter, their love, and their smut oh my my my! This is the first book in a trilogy, but I believe it’ll be a different ship each book!
Captured Sunlight was a cute and steamy read. I’ve missed the high fantasy reads that you could thoroughly enjoy without it getting too complicated, and this definitely fit the bill. I loved this story, but there were a few things here and there that I didn’t necessarily like.
😁What I Liked: I loved how Adora brought her own culture to her new friends and lover. It was so eye opening to them to see how their cultures are yes different but have some similarities. Adora was a bright and easy character to enjoy. She was naive at times, but truly had a heart of gold and kept the story pushing forward!
Caliban was that man. If the shadow king needs anything I’ll help out anyway I can lol! I loved how he fell for Adora, and could tell she meant the world to him. I enjoyed being in his head although I would’ve liked to the see the story more as dual pov!
😕What I Didn’t Like: In areas I didn’t like per say was that I noticed some habits of repetition of information. There were some scenes that seemed too similar to each other. Between 65%-85% of the story seemed like a couple scenes could’ve been cut and you would’ve still gotten the same outcome.
I was annoyed by the trope of I’ll keep her in the dark in order to protect her. This trope isn’t always something I enjoy, but depends on how it’s written and such. This time around I wasn’t a fan. It happened a few times through the story, but kept happening as the relationship got more serious.
💞Read This If You Liked: Readers of Katee Robert and Scarlet St. Clair would enjoy this story!
👋Closing Thoughts: Overall you should check out this story! It’s equal parts smut and plot. It’s a fast read! Captured Sunlight is available on KindleUnlimited!
I have wanted to read this book since my sister gifted it for me but always found reasons not to and I'm now kicking myself for not reading it before. I think I've yet to find a book by this writer that I haven't enjoyed.
“I am so smitten by you i would bring the sun from the sky and give it to you on a silver platter just to see your smile."
This book starts when Mithran Princess Adora Solen is on her way to her fiance, chosen by her father. The King of Shadows, Caliban Mor'gen hates Mithran, especially after what happened to his mother but he had no idea that there would be women in their carriage, especially one of the king's daughters. Caliban intends to use Adora against the king but he can't help but fall for her.
Adora was ignored her whole life since she was only the youngest and fifth child. She has healing magic but she could never use it as she was raised to only basically give babies to her future husband. I liked to see how she was raised to see how Shadow elves were evil and monsters but she came to see how maybe their life was better than hers was.
Captured Sunlight was such a great book that I couldn't stop reading. I haven't read Raven Flanagan books in awhile but this got me exited to read even more of them. I'm usually more into insta love than slow burn but this book is one of the examples why slow burn is just better sometimes. I was captivated by the romance since the beginning but I get why some people have a problem with the whole "I hate you but I still want you" concept. I personally loved how they couldn't keep their hands off each other despite being enemies.
Overall I found this to be a beautiful enemies to lovers story. Adora and Caliban tried their best to not be anything more since they were enemies but she made him feel alive and he helped her find herself. I loved that there wasn't too much drama and how these both characters learned to let go of what they thought they knew about each other's kind and got to know each other.
Adora is promised to a man by her father and on her way to tie the knot her carriage comes under attack. After barely escaping she comes face to face with her kingdoms mortal enemy and is taken prisoner. However, this enemy is not what she has been lead to believe and everyday of her journey to strange new lands has her questioning everything she thought she knew.
A tale as old as time. Light Vs Dark.
I gave two stars because I thought the spicy scenes were quite decent! But, I didn’t feel the story was very original and so much of what was happening was purely political with no tension or intrigue to keep you reading.
The back and forth between the two main characters wasn’t an issue for me the first couple times, but almost halfway through the book and I felt like the same scenarios were just being replayed over and over again. It caused me to lose interest and subsequently not want to finish the remainder of the book.
It’s a big disappointment because Love & Monsters is still one of my favorites that I’ve read over the last couple years and I was really looking forward to enjoying more from this author. I will keep following and try some others still, but this one wasn’t it.
If you are big into political plot points you might really enjoy this, so don’t let my review keep you from at least giving it a try!!
i liked the beginning of the book but when they arrived to the castle the book became too slow. nothing was happening for days. also didn’t appreciate the pregnancy trope and the fairy way they ended a thousand-year war.
caliban lost all his personality in the middle of the book. from a complex character he turned into a horny lovesick puppy. the identity of the assassin was obvious from the start so there was no mystery. i lost all my interest towards the end.

The fact that this book only has 57 ratings as I’m writing this review is insane to me. I adored this book. It’s very fast paced with an uncomplicated fantasy world that doesn’t leave you feeling confused for 100 pages. The characters are great and the spice is top notch. This was such a fun read and I’ll definitely come back to it whenever I’m in a slump.
The best fantasy story I've read so far..and believe me I've read a lot. I love that everything written perfectly in details to the level that you feel you're not reading but watching the scenes right in front of you. Hats off to author for this beyond fantastic book.
I absolutely loved this book, I love the main character and the struggles she goes through. I was so hook that I read it all in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down!!! The relationship between the two main characters is the perfect description for Love and Hate.
This book was so good! 😍 After reading Love and Monsters, I knew I’d love all of her books and I wasn’t wrong! This book is so underrated and I’m surprised it’s not more popular. I always love a good enemies to lovers story 🤍
I've been on a big romance/erotica bender and never expect a whole lot, but this one really surprised me. It's stereotypical and cliched, follows all the tropes and story arcs you expect in a romance, but I still fell in love with the characters and the world.
Wonderful tale of Light and Dark struggling then emerging into beauty, acceptance and love. Enthralling and captivating. The intimacy is masterful. I highly recommend this tale of enchantment, struggle and true love.
love this so much I cannot wait for the next two to come out this is one of my favorite authors her books always pull me in she has a great talent that I hope she will continue to share
This was so so good. One of my fav enemies to lovers stories I’ve read! Princess falls in love with king of the enemy kingdom. Docked a star because the amount of typos and huge editing errors was so fucking annoying. The story was so good I looked past them but damn. Get a new editor lol
All my favourite tropes. Enemies to lovers. One bed. He fell first. And fell hard. Would kill anyone that touches her. A touch of fantasy and magic. Plenty of spice. Standalone HEA. Cute, cheesy, warm and fuzzy epilogue. Loved it!

Ridiculously good! Beautiful descriptions, pulling you right in and taking your breath away. The characters and the storyline warm your heart. I couldn’t stop reading! I need this book to get a movie/tv series deal! Just incredible.
