A stellar conclusion to one of the strongest addition to the Robin Hood legend. Historical intrigue and adventure you expect from Robin Hood, with a solid heart and depth of character. Deeply satisfying trilogy.
I was kindly sent a digital ARC of this book though all thoughts are my own.
This is the conclusion of the Robin Hood series and wow does it pack quite the punch. There is a lot going on which is understandable considering the events that happened at the end of the second book.
One of my favorite aspects was seeing Robin and Marian reunited, knowing that Marian isn't aware that Robin is in fact alive and how sweet it was once she was over her initial shock of seeing Robin back from the dead so to speak. Their happen reunion doesn't last for long however as there's a lot at stake with King Richard held in Germany, the Sheriff of Nottingham plotting his horrible scemes and Robin just may lose all of his lands depending the outcome of being able to get King Richard back to England.
This powerful duo isn't about to take things lying down though and with the help of their friends, allies and their loyal people, they just may figure out a way to overcome so many obstacles.
I loved that Marian was not someone who allowed Robin to do everything especially when he returned and in general all of the strong women that chose to stand at her side and offer aid whenever possible. Marian really grew as a person and showed Robin that she's just as capable as any of his men in a variety of different ways.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series and I'm so happy to have been a part of the journey. I highly recommend if you enjoy retellings of Robin Hood, strong female characters and surprises along the way.
This book was the amazing conclusion that I hoped this series would get. It is sad to say farewell to this world, these characters, and the feelings that this series put me through.
I plan on doing a full re-read soon (which is saying something because I don't do re-reads very often).
I loved how it all came together! Wonderful conclusion and definitely my favorite retelling of this classic tale! Great plot twists and secrets revealed! This series is a keeper!
The last book in this trilogy did not disappoint. This final book kept my attention from the beginning with the reunion of Robin and Marian to the ending which wrapped up the story. There were many twist and turns that surprised me with their resolution as the mysteries of the past were made clear to the Reader. This was a wonderful blend of history and fiction. The relationship between the characters was well written amongst these historical events in a way that was believable. I was so sad that this wonderful trilogy came to an end, and wish there were more stories like this written in the historical genre.
Bravo Lady's. Love the whole series. Sad to see the end. This book has it all. Lies, truth, battles, very entertaining, give an take. Robin Hood stands up for the rightful King of England an his family. Robin will always be in us all he will never fall to the way side as long as we believe an look with in ourselves, an see that little spark to do what's right. Outstanding writing an strong story line. Damn fine reading. Way to go lady's.
Enjoyable book and if you like royal politics and excellent story. If you want action and speed then less excellent. I enjoyed the story but it was a little too royal politics for me.
I didn’t want the series to end! It was such a fantastic retelling of the well-known Robin Hood story, and included plenty of character development and plot twists to still keep the reader guessing until the end. I loved how the authors “redeemed” Guy of Gisborne, skillfully taking a traditionally static, one-dimensional henchman and turning him into a multifaceted character— the best comparison I can draw is that it’s like the “Beast” being transformed for good from the famous French fairy tale. The authors pull it off in very plausible fashion, although I won’t say how! Even the heroes and heroines have their flaws — a tangled web of misunderstandings between Robin and Marian leads to their eldest son having to settle for a barony instead of an earldom. Great historical detail about real-life figures too, including the fussy and unrealistic Hugh de Puiset, Queen Eleanor, Richard the Lionheart, King Phillip of Spain etc. Just an excellent job all-around.
