very cute! its neat checking in on the state of modern sonic comics where all the artists kind of understand that sonic cd era is best sonic. Total paradigm shift from when I was reading the archie stuff back in 3rd grade. The final one about amy making comics is the standout for sure.
Such an infectious comic for any sonic fan, oozes charm in IDWs first foray with Classic Sonic! All the stories were great, but special shoutout to Amy’s dedicated story about her comic, so cute !
This book was received as an ARC from IDW Publishing through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
Sonic has been in my life since I was a little girl and my brother played the game for many hours and I never understood why. After reading this book, I now know why this game was so addicting and special. The author collaboration was so brilliant to exemplification of the 30th anniversary of the game turning into this huge phenomenal franchise that is blowing up in front of our eyes. The illustrations were a joy to look at making this book more of an exciting read. It was like playing the video game in its original nostalgia
The classic game reimagined. This book deserves 5 stars.
This is the first comic I read in a long time. Took a break. It was a nice fun read. Kinda of reminded of a Saturday morning cartoon episode that was just fun episodes.
Really entertaining stories, especially the main one that took about half the book, though the shorter, more comedic stories that followed were great too. Sonic Learns to Drive honestly might be one of my favourite things in the entire series.
It's got a really cute artstyle that differs slightly in each story and works really well particularly for the one centered around Amy and her new hobby
Honestly one of the most joyous things from this franchise that I couldn't help but smile throughout
THIS WAS ADORABLE. Everything I love about Sonic Mania adventures all wrapped up into a nice little comic book. I really loved seeing Mighty, Ray, Amy, Fang, Bean, and Bark, especially Mighty. It was just nice to see the crew go on a little adventure to collect the chaos emeralds.
Also the short stories at the end, Sonic learns to drive, Eggman's Birthday, and Amy's New Hobby were really fun. It knows what it wants to be, a short story with little to no fluff and I really appreciate that.
Rory’s review: 5 stars I like that all of the sonic characters are there. You get to see all their personalities. My favorite issue is “Amy’s new Hobby” because Amy is my favorite character.
My review: 3 stars I thought the issues picked for the 30th Anniversary were a little strange. I think it could have been longer. I liked the issue where Sonic learns to drive but think it was a weird choice.
Huge fan of the Classic Sonic stories. A ton of fun and “Eggman’s Birthday” was especially cute. Kinda funny how much Classic Eggman contrasts Modern Eggman with how much more evil he is in the mainline books.
I own a copy and I love it. My only complaint is that it's too short and the way the stories are separated is odd, I wish they all got their own cover pages.
Very cute and fun for all ages!! Loved every panel with Amy Rose she was the best character in the whole book and was overall such a joy to see in each panel. Overall amazing book with stunning art work and Amy and Tails / Amy and Bark friendship moments I didnt know I needed.
