From REMINGTON KANE, author of the Tanner SeriesPREDATOR - Book 4 of the Taken!/Tanner Series Thomas Lawson asks Tanner, Blue Steele, Mr. White, and Jake Caliber to band together to find a heist crew that stole a valuable painting worth more than money.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
I was a little disappointed. I love Tanner and Mr. White. In this novel they fell a little short of their usual always prepared and undefeated. The character Katie was just stupid and insipid as were most of these characters. It was hard getting through this story.
Very casual attempts at getting one more Tanner story out there, but left a lot to be desired. The group stumbled their way through all the events and lucked into a solution at the last minute. Mr Lawson needs to get someone else for his fiascos.
I thoroughly enjoyed this well written book by author Remington Kane who continues to deliver with each new book in this series ("Taken!/Tanner") as well as the other related, (sibling?) books featuring the same characters.
"Predator" may be, in my opinion, one of, if not the best, in the entire series to date as it contains everything that makes up a great read, at least for me.
The author's blurb is a bit "shorter" than what one usually finds from Mr. Kane, however I believe the reason may be that to write more, would constitute contributing "spoilers" that could possibly ruin the book for his readers (that's simply my thought).
I highly recommend this book to those of you, who enjoy as I do a well written "Pulp Thriller". Is it a "standalone?" some of you may wonder, myself I would not say so, as there is a great deal of "backstory" mentioned in this one that is referenced and you may find yourself a bit lost if you are not familiar with any of this series, or the "Tanner" series.
Hopefully you will find this review helpful, and yes I read it twice.
The fantastic four is just that and more. This book has them all. Tanner is special in that the training he's accomplished over the years has brought him to this point. Thomas Lawson wants to have Tanner, Mr. White, Blue Steele and Jake Caliber to form a group called the Predator. Jake comes from a long line of detectives/private eyes. Blue is a bounty hunter and a cousin to Jake. Mr. White is Tanner's cousin and like Tanner, a force of his own. Mr. Lawson needs their help in recovering stolen paintings, one in particular is needed for a very important meeting to take place between Countries. I am going to miss reading about Tanner but I know he'll be back. I'll be waiting!
I'm just crushed with the announcement that Kane is going to take a break from writing the Tanner series. Even though Tanner will be returning I'm not sure how I can deal with such bad news & get through this crisis. Tanner, et.al., fills me full-up with the joy that only a great writer can accommodate - I Live for these books, gobbling up each one with Absolute gusto & just don't know how I'm gonna survive his absence. OhNo - Please say it ain't so.
Lawson wanted to put Tanner, White, Jake, and Blue together as a team called Predator so they agreed.
Lawson needed a team that he could pull together that he could trust to clean up the messes in a hurry. Of course they weren’t official but at least he could give them some backing. So he as Tanner, White, Jake, and Blue to come to his aid and they answered yes. They had to find the painting stolen in a very short amount of time to stop an international incident. The guys they were after were deadly and didn’t care who got hurt.
I liked it more than I thought I would. Of all the characters Kane has written about Mr. White is my least favorite. Seeing the title I was concerned that it would be just the two characters. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all of the four characters were in the book. Then I just enjoyed the story. Lots of action. All characters worked well together. Good story line. One of the better ones in the series. Recommended.
All of his main characters in one story. AWESOME. THANK YOU Mr. Kane. Again only problem I have is I have to wait for your next book. I sound like a broken record but you will no be disappointed in any of Mr. Kane stories. Enjoy your well deserved break.
It's fun to bring together all the heroes and I look forward to more as the team grows. Each of the series has a different tone, Tanner and Taken always offer a greater depth of detail and character than the Blue and Caliber stories. This one is somewhere between them, whatever is next will hopefully deepen.
As always Remington Kane continues to write interesting stories, this time incorporating all the characters from his Taken Tanner books to hunt down some very unsavory bad people. The chase is on!!!
Enjoyed having all these characters together. Was a good plot and as always, Tanner and Mr. White are the primes. Still prefer the individual adventures of all these players, which also have such good relationships .
Love the new series. Read them all . can't wait for the next one to get published. Loved the characters (of course) and the story lines. I'm hooked!!!!
When a hapless group of bad guys steals paintings from a museum, it creates an international incident. Thomas Lawson decides to play his trump card and call in The Predators: Blue Steel, Jake Caliber, Mr. White, and, of course, Tanner. After a brief introduction in which each hero gets to show his/her stuff, they get together and map out a plan to retrieve the paintings within forty-eight hours. Helped along by the back-stabbing and greed of the thieves, we get the opportunity to see how a well-oiled machine can get the task accomplished.
