After four years with the Texas Rangers, the last thing Malachi Carson expected to come home with was a bride. For Sarah Graham, with secrets as big as the Texas sky, it’s either a marriage of convenience or a life on the run. Malachi and Sarah marry to protect her and her baby from her late husband’s family, but Sarah struggles to move past a lifetime of being abandoned and rejected by those who are supposed to love her. As they get to know each other, feelings emerge, but will Malachi be able to protect Sarah from the growing threat against her? Will Sarah be able to trust the family she marries into, the one thing she’s always wanted?
The author has penned a sweet and heartwarming story full of lots of human emotions. This is a story of secrets, danger, self-doubt, the need to learn to trust, and romance. This is Malachi Carson, a Texas Ranger, and Sarah Graham's story. Sarah is on the run fearing for her safety and the safety of her baby. The couple agree to a marriage of convenience to protect Sarah and her baby from her late husband's family. Will Malachi be able to protect Sarah? Will Sarah trust him to do so? Will Sarah allow Malachi's family to become the family she has always wanted? Will Malachi and Sarah's marriage of convenience grow into a HEA? Be sure to read this really great story to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
I guess I’m going to continue reading this series out of order as I only can get them when they are offered as free ebooks. (Or pay for them but that’s why I have a well-used library card!) This particular story is number three in the Waymaker series but it connects with a previous series, similar to some of Karen Kingsbury’s series.
Out of order makes it difficult to connect all the characters but it doesn’t hurt the main story. Yes, the story is predictable with a HAE ending. But still enjoyed it. Christian historical fiction.
Sorry if you’re fans: the female protagonists was annoying and unbelievable She lives with an abusive husband is pregnant by him kills him and runs off. Smack dab into hunky Texas Ranger. He heard her story believes her and takes her home to mama where he can protect her. He falls madly in love they get married for her protection. He can’t keep his hands off her sweet little pecks and pets it was making me gag and I don’t know why I finished the book. Probably because it put me to sleep at night.)

I had never heard of this author until this book was listed as one of the free ebooks this week in a Christian fiction group I am in. It is book #3, so I came in late on Malachi's family, but decided to start with #1 after I read this one. I really enjoyed it. Love the characters - not just the hero and heroine of this story, but all of Malachi's family.
I always enjoy marriage of convenience stories, and the author did a great job on this one. I recommend
Malachi Carson is a Texas Ranger. When he and his fellow rangers run into a pregnant and abused woman, Sarah Graham, he becomes protective of her immediately. When she reveals she is heading to his hometown in search of his grandparents, he decides to escort her there. Sarah is running from her in-laws. Her husband died and his parents want the child. She fears for her life and the child’s life. Will a marriage of convenience keep her safe from harm?
A young woman who always felt no one cared for her, even her parents, realizes the child she carries will be harmed. Working on getting herself out of the danger is her first plan. She doesn't have any family or real friends to rely on to escape. Her only hope is to go to seek help from people who talked about God's love.
The author weaves a masterful story of a highfalutin' family in New Orleans whose misdeeds spill over causing Sarah to run straight to Malachi. But she quick!y learns that he can be trusted with all things.
Scared and running to protect herself she has west towards the only people who ever showed her and kind of attention. Not able to trust and unsure of the future she finds the one who will help her.
Great to read a book where almost all the characters have good Christians morals, love for God, the Bible etc. They show sacrificial love, kindness, forgiveness, etc. The application of scripture is shown. I will read more of this series.
I fell in love with this incredible family. It is a heartwarming story that gives hope during tough times. I know it will stay in my mind even when reading my next book.
This was a wonderful historical Christian family story. It has a multitude of crisis but all seems to be healed by family love with the trust in God. Great read.
A nice clean read about a young lady who married the wrong person who was abusive. The abuse is not discussed much in the story line. The Texas Rangers help her and keep her safe when she escapes. This book is a stand alone story.
What a beautiful story of love. When you don’t have family you sure long for one. This story showed that God can give us a family. We have to trust him. Read it. Big D
Good read. Clean read. Loved that finally Karma gets evil. How faith can hold you until the blessings come. Worth all the struggle for those who wait on the Lord
Sarah ran away after accidentally killing her abusive husband. She was found by Texas ranger Mechali and he escorted her to Texas to hope house but fell in love with her ob their journey
What a wonderful book!! This was the first in this series that I had read, but I felt like I knew all the characters. What a wonderful family! The story was wonderful, I am looking forward to the next book.
I just finished reading this wonderful novel. The characters were well written. Loved the family that backed the husband’s. If more families had this backing, there would be great love. Jeanette S.
A sweet story of redemption and healing. Tender, warm, hopeful. Not unnecessarily complicated, but characters quite well developed. Not sugarcoated. I loved it!
